It's a Weird, Weird World with VCR MacDougal

Rate this book
Aliens want Weirwood’s sex workers, and only one bagboy has what it takes to stop them.

Everyone in town knows VCR MacDougal. He’s the guy from the supermarket with the internet show about the UFO activity in Weirwood. If you’ve had a close encounter of the weird kind, he’s the one to see. You can find him mopping the floors at the Weir-Mart when he’s not hanging around the abandoned amusement park drinking root beers with his best friend Buddy.

VCR’s life is about to get a bit more complicated. When a sex worker named Cinnamon comes to him for help after her near-abduction, he decides he’s had enough of the aliens and leaps into action to find the truth and get his town’s sex workers back where they belong. The FBI doesn’t much care for his plans, and they’ll do everything in their power to keep him from uncovering the secret at the heart of Weirwood. Can VCR, Cinnamon, and their friends keep the sex workers safe while avoiding overzealous FBI agents, boardwalk bullies, cranky supermarket managers, gossiping priests, and extraterrestrial sex traffickers?

One thing’s for it really is a weird, weird world.

I got an ARC copy of this book, and your brain is not ready for this "what did I just read" with impeccable prose that is just right, and tickles the brain the best way. You're not ready.
Thank the gods of queerternet that I stumbled upon Daniel one day. If you're looking for quirky small town vibes with a dash of X-files, with everyday heroes, this book might be for you.
