Awaking to the grim realization that his arm is missing, Charles finds himself in a situation he’s never considered before. He’s no longer alone.Having saved his life, Lindsay joins him in his effort to reach Florida. Finding what could likely be the last remains of civilization, they are forced to flee from things even worse than the walking dead.
First and foremost I am a father and a husband. I work full time as a civilian employed by the US army, and have also been known as a welder, electrician, carpenter, roofer, writer, painter, CNC machinist, and amongst many other things a romantic. I also belong to the eternal fraternal brotherhood of the United States Marine Corps, having served 8 years that showed me a much broader perspective of the world at large serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, The war on Terrorism, and the humanitarian effort in Liberia.
I currently live in southern Louisiana with my wife and children, though I grew up in Michigan, graduating high school in Mason MI. I also spent time living in North Carolina, Florida, and California during my time in the United States Marine Corps. I have always dreamed of publishing my work, and seeing it on a bookshelf in a store, however with the huge shift to digital media I finally realized that the dream was in my own hands. I tell my children that they can live their dreams, and I believe in leading by example.
I enjoy writing across several different genres from poetry, to children's stories, to full epic fantasies. Creating new characters for my readers to connect with, new worlds for them to immerse themselves in, and new ideas to wrap their minds around is an amazing if not humbling experience. I hope that all my readers can take something away from each of my books, and enjoy reading them just as much as I have enjoyed putting them in print.
Charles continues his cross country walkabout to Florida to unite with his two daughters. Charles meets Lindsey a fellow traveler who manages to save his life twice in so many days. Lindsey is a tough twenty four year old woman who has survived on her own and is not afraid to take a life. She’s not afraid of much of anything. She’s also a crack shot with her bow and has proved it numerous times. Lindsey and Charles team up and proceed on the path to Florida. Charles seems to have a few mental issues of his own. He is constantly examining himself and his actions and usually ends up berating and condemning himself for whatever he has done. He has a quick temper which usually winds up with someone losing their life. Charles is quite a study in excessive behavior and coping with reality. The inclusion of Lindsey really added to the story, gave it some compassion and a comparison in behavior towards others. Well done.
Left Alive #2: A Zombie Action and Adventure Novel by Jeremy Laszlo starts where Left Alive #1 stopped. It is a post-apocalyptic, dystopian novel which is peopled with zombies of a different nature. I gave it five stars.
"Everyone had been tainted with the fertilizer that unleashed an agricultural plague to end all plagues across the planet. I had watched on the news as they showed us the devastation. They showed us the quarantines and the evacuations. There were the food strikes, the hunger and fear that drove average citizens into hostile frenzies...War erupted on a nearly global scale."
Charlie meets Lindsay who had saved his life before. She saved him again. He woke to missing his arm that had been caught in a bear trap by a Hunter.
I look forward to reading the next book in the series, Left Alive #3.
Picked up books 1-6 in a box set freebie. I'm really glad I've found them. I was in sort of a reading slump for a while, and these books gave me back my love of reading. Charlie is such an interesting character with how he deals with everything. I also really enjoy the world and the fact that there's zombies. Like who doesn't love that. But besides just zombies there's an actual really decent plot to follow.
Another enjoyable read. What will Charlie run into next in this insane post-apocalyptic world? It's amaZing what one can endure. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
I'm definitely enjoying this series more than I thought I would. I liked this book just as much, if not more, than the first one. This one gets 4 stars because there are way less editing errors in it, too.
