From bestselling author Birdie D'Avo comes a Stand-Alone Reverse Harem Dystopian Urban Romantasy full of dark humor, violence, and a cast of unhinged, morally gray characters.
Kate
I’ve grown used to life in the broken-down city of Fallset. Poverty is pervasive, and everyone is desperate for something. I had nothing, and that was okay. Until one night, three men—lures we call them, magical beings with more power and beauty than they’ve any right to—saved me from a brutal attack, then abandoned me, bleeding in the rain.
I should have forgotten about them, pushed them out of my mind. Especially when bombs started going off in my neighborhood, and I had more important things to worry about than three lures who didn’t want to be found. But our brief encounter fueled an intense urge to see them again. So I spent my nights searching.
Until they reminded me where people like me belonged—on the other side of town, with all the other filthy humans. When I’m finally ready to let go and stop chasing the three lures who don’t want me, I meet another man. But this one’s not like the others…
Unfortunately, nothing in my life can ever be that simple, and when reality is grim, temptations are hard to resist.

This is an MFMMM (no MM) reverse harem urban romantasy set in a dystopian future world. It is a complete standalone, with no cliffhanger, multiple POV, multiple partner/extremely graphic sex scenes intended for readers 18+, no cheating, no choosing, with a HEA. There is also, *ahem* unusual male anatomy, knotting, and fated mate bonds. Content warning if you need this book includes on page descriptions of or references to violence, gore, assault, and death.
Birdie's life experiences inform her primarily character-driven stories. With the hopes of providing rich, complex, authentic relationships, most of her work includes strong female characters and "high-spice/open-door" scenes while dancing on the edge of darker-themed romance. Birdie writes the stories she wants to read. Find more at www.birdiedavo.com
So much LOVE...and so much spice! This book was perfection. Dystopian reverse harem with political elements, class struggle, subjugation of the poor, but it ended with such hope! The FMC was strong and capable but stuck in abject poverty. She gets attacked by 2 guys and then rescued by 3 dudes from the alien race that has integrated with the human population. She feels drawn to the 3 "Lures" and tries in vain to find them again, while they are drawn to her and keeping an eye out for her safety from the shadows.
Then one of them walks her home, she invites him in and the spice begins! OMG! Loved the spice in this book! No MM, but a ton of MF and MMFMM. Turns out the mate bonds can happen with multiple people, which was hot and also crazy romantic. The world building was epic, I could really feel the world they were living in and how trapped they were, until a 5th person comes into the group that has seen the world and can lead them out of the city hellscape, but not before righting some of societies wrongs. I LOVED everything about this book and devoured it in 1 day. (2 typos, but well-written, and otherwise well-edited.)
Birdie D'avo caught my attention with her omegaverse novel Heat. Taming The Lures is a completely different novel proving she can take on a new genre. She is a promising new (to me) author and hope she continues to write RH. I loved it. This is a dystopian world were humans are starving and just trying to survive in this world. There was angst, pining, and longing but also throw in some bullying and a sprinkle of groveling (never enough!).
Kate is a human that is saved by three magical beings called Lures. From that point on she searches for them and they stalk her, stalking them. Initially the males don't know they're mates until the pull gets to be too much for them. Unfortunately, they're set to mate with a shrew of a lure that one of the males bedded and she is insistent that they're fated.
This is a MFMMM rh story with no MM. The final male appears later and is absolutely devoted to Kate. He's a refreshing character as the other males have been messing with her emotions through the entire book.
Tropes you'll find: -MFMMM -dystopian future -fated mates (with a hint of rejected mates) -unique male anatomy -cinnamon roll character, obsessive mates -no cheating but there is OW drama (they don't like her though)
Thank you to Birdie for providing me with an ARC of this book. My first ARC so I was very excited!
This book ticked a lot of my boxes. I'm a sucker for a dystopian worldand love an RH.
I ate this book up. The characters were great. I loved all the MMCs. The storyline was interesting and well thought out. Excited to read more by this author.
I was not expecting that! As my first book by this author, I was pleasantly surprised. The writing is superb, with vivid world-building and a well-plotted dystopian setting. The multiple perspectives are easy to follow, making it a page-turner. I enjoyed the dynamic of dominant men submitting to their fated mate, and the FMC is incredibly strong. If you're a fan of reverse harem with empowered female leads, this book is must-read. The romance, and spice is equally intense. I am eager to explore more of this author's work.
Well, that was fun and different. I wasn't completely convinced when I started reading the story but it didn't take long for Kate and the Lures to win me over. If nothing else, you have to read about the Lures' anatomy. This dystopian future is bleak for many. There's violence and greed but I love Kate's resilience and empathy. I do have some questions about birth control and wouldn't mind another instalment just to see what happened to some of the characters but if this is the end then so be it.
This book was good! The plot was something new that I have never heard of before and I really enjoyed it!! I got halfway through the book and kind of felt like DNF’ing it, but that 1000% had to do with me and nothing to do with the book. I liked the characters, the plot, the world building! This was a good book, and I am really glad that it was a standalone! I definitely want to try some of the other books from this author :)
not going to lie, I only made it to the second chapter. The part where the FMC said thar there was "just something otherworldly" about the lures... I mean, obviously. You just spent a paragraph telling me how they have emerald skin with markings, and then go into another paragraph about how they have cat eyes. I just couldn't with that type of writing.
Such a different take on a dystopian reverse harem. I absolutely loved each character, I loved the strong fmc and the mmc's that were just a touch psycho. I wish there had been a bit more psycho from the fmc other than the bit at the end but I still loved it none the less.
This was a fun and engaging read. Different than a traditional dystopian but with some similarities. I loved the fmc, Kate. She has so much compassion and grit. My hear broke for her and hoped for her. I love how her story ended.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The author is new to me,but she is very talented at world building. The words were so descriptive I could see the towns in my mind. I could feel the humans despair and anguish, then later hope.
