Brand new author to me and pretty much a new author, period. I did not know what to expect. I did not even read the synopsis when I started reading. Saw the cover, the title, knew they were firefighters and the heroine was a big girl.
The great thing with JK Publishing is that they never disappoint regarding the book cover: you know exactly what you’ll find in the story. Here, a redhair big girl heroine and two dark hair firefighters. It may be not the prettiest book cover I’ve seen at JK Publishing but it sure is very close to the heroes description. And that is definitely a great way to respect their authors! ;)
At first, I was not sure about the first person POV use. I generally do not like it because most authors write with only one character all along. Then, it was a rotation with the heroes. It helped to have the names when the switched although it was mainly the heroine POV.
My first reaction about this story is it is a very romantic one. The main focus was love and falling in love. Sex added some spice in the story but it was just a bonus, not the focal point. I really enjoyed the love connection between the characters and most especially the heroine’s personality. She was not a doormat, she was not bratty, she had a nice sense of humor and she held her own without being a bitch.
I also liked the secondary characters, most especially the best friend. Sofie. She was a spitfire and enjoyed her bratty attitude. That is totally the kind of character I could relate. Sofie was fun :)
I came across some little issues though. No big ones but just a few that, in my opinion, can be easily rectify with experience.
First, I thought the first chapter between the heroine, Cait, and the ex-future-boyfriend, Mike, did not match with the rest of the story. The heroine was devastated being dumped, badly treated, verbally abused and insulted, kicked out of the place she shared with the guy. She was devastated and as soon as her best friend arrives, everything is gone. Plus the jump few months ahead were a bit too quick. It was: she was very upset and insecure and next she was reluctant to meet people. And the first people she meet at her first official social meeting in a picnic are the heroes. I did not feel the connection or justification in between the two episodes. So she was devastated and became confident up to the point I asked myself why she was ever devastated. She seemed pretty okay with her curbs and who she was. Something needed to be more developed here.
Then, little issues here and there with the punctuation. Nothing major, but enough for me to notice.
I liked the heroes very much but I would like (and this is a general message to menage authors) some efforts to separate the heroes and give them individual exposure so we could know them better. No need in a menage that both males have to do everything together all the time!
Rayne O’Gara made an effort to offer a different personality for both, which was nice. I would have liked a bit better to understand why one was so grumpy and the other so joyful and how their friendship clicked.
But this is definitely a dejà vu in many menages. Authors have a hard time to give equal and individual time for the main heroes. So just some thought to ponder here.
I was not sure about the villain. I was not sure he was truly necessary in the story. An “accident” could have worked too. Villains are not always necessary in a romance. The epilogue can be justified without the drama in my opinion.
But Taming two Fires had a nice epilogue. I knew the heroine would have her revenge somehow which I saw it coming from chapter 1. No way, the jerk would “win” and be an ass without karma coming biting his ass back.
But then again, I read this story with a smile. No bitching between the characters, no false Dom, no false submissive either, no caveman, no doormat, no virgin (yeah!!!!). I mean, it was a true genuine nice romantic romance with sex. I add sex because, yes, you’ll find some in it and because I added romantic next to romance. Do not get me wrong… this is not a Blaze or Harlequin alike. It IS an erotic romance… just a bit more romantic than others.
It was nice. I even smiled at the stereotype of the firefighter saving the kitten! That was cute :)
So overall, I really liked this new author. I will read her again, no doubt. I believe Rayne O’Gara will be like good wine: the more she will write, the more she will mature, the better author she will become. But do not get me wrong! She is already way above the line and way above a couple of authors I read! I gave her 4 poly stars and definitely put this story in the great read category!
I was gifted this book in exchange for my honest opinion and a review.
This is book one of Hearts of Heroes.
Rayne O'Gara is a totally new author to myself and when i got offered the chance to review this book i jumped at it, within a few pages i was a goner, I just new it was going to be a long night as i had to finish this amazing book. Not only did i love this book but i was glad to see POV for each character i no its not to everyone liking. .
After a horrid breakup, shy and curvy Caitriona Douglass works extremely hard to get herself and her life back in order. Her best friend, Sofie, convinces her that the best way to do that is to get out and socialize, forcing her out of hiding away.
Cait has always been so unsure of her curvy body so when she get's the attention of not one, but two sinfully sexy handsome fire fighters, she is shocked and a little cautious of their motives.
Alex and Roman are best of friends and roommates, one is soft and very easy going, the other is hardened and rough around the edges. When Alex pushes Roman to attend there company picnic, Roman realizes it may have been the best decision that his friend has ever made as they both become enchanted by the woman with the curvy luscious figure. Now all they need to do is convince her that they are a packaged deal.
Will Cait risk her heart to find true love once and for all? Can these sexy fire fighters convince the shy, luscious beauty that she needs them both to be truly happy?
But all is not as it seems when the fire starts to hunt them, will they all survive from being burned?
This story is a romantic one with an edge of thrill and suspense and some wicked humour which will make you LOL, i no i did. My most favourite LOL moment was when Cait discovers a certain tattoo :)
This book is different to some of the other ménage books i have read as it has POV which not a lot of writers use i first came across it in another authors book so it is not new to me, but what i did like is that the characters name was at the top each chapter so it was easy to follow.
As for the characters they were spot on Cait a curvy red head with insecurities and a horrible past with men so no wonder she is cautious, i loved how she broke free of her mould and embraced loving these two sexy men.
Alex well he certainly made me laugh, what a sexy sweetheart where he is soft, Roman is hard with a past that has made him so tough, But Cait is able to break him free of the ice surrounding his heart.
I also really liked the secondary characters, especially Cait's bestie, Sofie. She was such a spitfire i so enjoyed her sassy attitude. She is someone you can totally relate to as well as wishing she was your bestie.
I must not forget Cait ex mike what a total a hole i wanted to crawl in to the book and smack him silly, i totally loved the epilogue where karma totally bites mike on the butt :) ( evil Grin ) who doesnt love a touch of revenge.
A truly sexy fantastic book i cant wait to read the next book in this series.
Turned out to be very different than I thought !! This story had deeply thoughtful characters, interest and suspense, and super hot sexy ménage. Catriona is a sweetie, smart and talented. Alex and Roman are alpha Firefighters and just love her to bits. She is a strong character, not always whining about her weight, but she is verbally attacked a few times. The guys adore every bit of her. Roman is the huge guy, people are always afraid of, he's weary of people thinking he'll hurt them. He just wants to be loved, too. Cat's not fearful of him. They are all sizzle from the get go, as is Alex. They all find what they need, each other. Great book, I'm going to read more Rayne O'Gara! ENJOY !!
OMG I loved this book. I loved the storyline and the characters, actually I loved it from start to finish!
Merged review:
I came upon this book and the author whilst browsing and I'm so glad I did, this was an awesome story. One of the best menage stories I've read in awhile. I loved the storyline and the characters, especially the characters. I loved Cait she was really sweet and accepted her lovers without any prejudice, not caring what anyone else thought. And Rome and Alex, how lovely were they, all strong, protective and dominant! What a fantastic start to a new series. Loved it and can't wait for book 2!!!
What a fantastic story, I absolutely love Cait, she is sensitive, has a lack of self esteem until she meets her sexy men. Alex and Roman are sexy firefighters who love curvy women. There is a bit of suspence too, but the sex is HOT HOT HOT and the book ends with a cliffhanger. Can't wait to read book 2.
I truly enjoyed this book from start to finish. Cait was a shy curvy girl who never really realized her worth until meeting the delectable duo of Roman and Alex (R&M). R&M grew up as brothers and was looking for that one woman who completes them and they stumbled upon the delicious Cait. Throw in a arsonist hell bent on destroying the guys and a woman coming into her own and you have a helluva book that sizzles through the pages. This was my first time reading a book by Rayne and I for one can't wait to see what next from this spectacular author.
Great story. This is a story about a threesome. Not the norm & not socially acceptable but the author makes believable. The characters were well developed. The two alphas incredibly hit. Oh & the sex scenes were so hot they have you holding your breath & sighing. Great read.
This was amazing story.she is told by slim ball boyfriend to get out because he says she fat.she finds the most amazing men who love her just the way she and then some.lucky lucky lady to finally get the happy ending she deserved.
I enjoyed this lighthearted menage. The heroes were well defined and worked well together and with the heroine who I also thought was well written. Nothing new perhaps, but an enjoyable way to spend part of the day.
I could not put this book down!!!!!! I absolutely loved everything about this story from the plot, from the characters, and to all the action! I can't wait for the second book!!
I absolutely loved this books. This is my first MMF book and I would definitely read again. It was a bit fast for me, all of it, BUT I adored it!!! The chemistry, the sex, the protectiveness and the ending was amazing in itself, haha. Roman is my kind of man, literally!! Mmmm!!! Alex isn't far behind! Definitely a good read!!
I really enjoyed this story. I found myself really relating to Caitriona. She is a BBW who has been told so many things about herself that she has believed them. When not just one but two hot firemen are interested, she had no clue what to do with that. I really liked that Cait wouldn't let Roman hide from her any more than she would let her hide from them. Alex is their glue and by the end of the book, I found myself wanting to know more.
Absolutely I’m love with this book have read 3 times the way they care so much for her and the way they would die to save her OML don’t forget how they worship the literal ground she walks on from the moment they met to when they was saving her from the house fire the protective feeling they both get is just 😍

Thank you. Caitlin is a plus size girl and gets two, count'em, two beautiful men. Her ex says he has to have sex in the dark c as use she's fat. And the book ends just like I like them. Show idiot that men like real women.
This books shows that you don't have too be model thin to find love, and this book is so amazing. It's got a good story plot and I commend getting the entire 3 book series, you won't be disappointed.
This book was an all right book. The storyline was good however there were spelling and grammar errors. At times the writing was a very childish and a little unbelievable. All in all it was a very sweet love story. I would've liked to have a little more background on the main characters
I love this book and im so glad that when Cait ex kicked her out she found love in the arms of 2 fire fighters who both ignites a fire within her. Such a romantic story with a HEA ending. Can't wait to read more from this author and this series.
First introduction to Rayne O'Gara.....and I absolutely LOVED it.....definitely worth 5 Star for me. Rome is definitely one of my most favourite Alpha Males.
