★★★★★! The Billionaire Banker series, BOX SET 1-3. Aloof Billionaire Blake Barrington gets more than he negotiated for with new mistress Lana!

“Do you want it flowery or straight.’
She bites her lip. ‘ Straight.’
‘I wanted to fuck you senseless from the moment our eyes met.’
‘And the flowery version?’
‘Now I think about it, there is no flowery version. It is what it is.”

Well, this was an interesting read. The writing was hard to adjust to in the beginning, but after the first book I was used to it. I was engaged and really into Blake and Lana's story. I have to say though, some of the phrases and sexual acts they say and do truly had me icked. It was weird and awkward, and not really my type of thing to read about. I'm no prude, but some of it just wasn't for me.

Then something Blake says in the second book totally yanked the rug right out from under me, and I was pretty much disconnected and done with the story. I guess it wouldn't be a big deal to some people, but for me I was pretty pissed. Now to me, that's not the actions of someone in love. Especially given all that he's done while she was gone.

So I pretty much finished this book because I just wanted to know what happened. I just wanted it to be over. Would I read something else by this author? Maybe. I'd have to be assured its in the safe zone.

5+++++ stars. So I came across this author due to recommendation and a review from one of my fellow goodreads friends with her Georgia latest release Masquerade. While looking for the book on Amazon I realize the book would not be out until the following week. So I decided to purchase this series in order to become acquainted with the author. OMG...I am so glad I did. Firstly let me say don't let the name of the series sway you into believing that this is you ordinary "billionaire series type book" where more or less the story becomes predictable. Oh no, what you get her is a well written, intriguing, thrilling, page turning, sleepless nights piece of literature. I felt like at times I was reading "poetry" because of the stories flow. I absolutely enjoyed every part of these books and have already bought the two other books as the final instalments of this brilliant storyline.

I hate the name of this series...but LOVE the story. The writing is superb. I don't know what it is, but I can tell within a few pages if a book has "it". I find myself plodding through others, hoping there will be more, but really, it almost never happens. Blake Barrington is the scion of a wealthy banking family, in fact, a member of a rarified .01% who really do run the world. He spots Lana, who is a desperate young woman trying to finance her mother's terminal cancer treatment by selling herself to someone she thinks might be willing. But Blake knows this man is a deviant psychopath who he can outbid....and he does. Le Carre's phrasing is lovely to read, and although sex is a big part of this story, it is really the vehicle that brings these two together. I know the plot is not original, but there is mystery, suspense, friendship, grief, loss - oh, every feeling is covered.

Dark & intense

This is a very dark & intense story. I'm glad I got it in a box set because I would have been upset if the next book was not available. The characters were interesting and the plot was sinister. There was a bit too much internal dialogue from Lana and a few too many sex scenes. The story was good enough that the author didn't need that as page filler. Despite that, I still enjoyed the story tremendously.

Loved this Boxed Set!!!

I could not put this down. Such an interesting twist to the formula of these books, I really enjoyed the intrigue of the idea of people so rich they run the world and nobody know it. Scary but probably true to some extent. Great series!

Great start but...

The first book 'Owned' I mistook for a stand-a-lone, my fault I didn't check but when I downloaded this 'The Billionaire Banker - Box Set' I assumed I was getting the complete series, this is not the case there's another two books yet to come 'Seduce Me' and 'Love's Sacrifice'

I loved 'Owned' and yes maybe there's nothing new here, to the extend where it was easy to predict what was coming next but this didn't in anyway spoil my enjoyment of it.

'Forty 2 Days' I struggled a bit with this one, I just didn't understand certain things, I don't want to make this a spoiler review but I just don't buy the reason given for what happened to the money as well as other things, I won't say more than that but I'm hoping things will be explained more clearly in the next book.
While 'Owned' was predictable, the same cannot be said for this book however especially not the last part which goes in a direction I didn't expect although it does clear up a question a had from the previous book. I'm not sure I like where this book is heading but there's absolutely no way I'm stopping now.

I loved the first book, the second less so and now 'Besotted' .....at times I couldn't see the point, this book didn't really seem to go anywhere, lots of sex but if I'm being totally honest it didn't feel like a separate book, more like an extension of the previous one 'Forty 2 Days' the reviews are nearly all fantastic so I must be missing something, have I given up on this series? No, definitely not I love these two and I need to know what happens to them so I'm in this until the end.

I really wasn’t into this book. I actually DNF the third one. Midway through the second book he says something mid-sex that was just a complete ick-moment and then admits to screwing hundreds of other women during their break up.... not my thing at all I’m afraid and the rest of the story wasn’t enough to sustain my interest. Hopefully the other works by this author will suit me better.

While I liked this it didn’t wow me that’s for sure. The story is basically that Lana the heroines mother has stage 4 cancer and there’s a chance of saving her by a doctor in America for that she needs the big money so she decides to sell herself. The eventual man who pays Lana is Blake Barrington billionaire banker.

While parts of this trilogy were okay, there was lots that was just too far on the side of ridiculous. As to the two main characters Blake had been raised by a father who was literally evil IMO. So some of his behaviour was forgivable, but there were things that the author had him spouting that were a bit much for me. As to Lana she was sugary sweet and a bit too naive considering her background of being raised on a council estate where her and her sick mother barely survived after Lana’s father abandoned them.

I’ve just learned that there’s a fifth book and a book in between Forty 2 Days and Besotted. I’m sorry, I can’t read them. I was attempting to stick to my principle of reading all of the books in a series prior to reviewing, but I won’t do it. It’s already taken me a week to read all four books (which is a ridiculously long time for me) and I voluntarily helped my husband clean out my garage instead of finishing the fourth book. That should say it all….but I’ll elaborate.

The basic storyline is that Lana Bloom is selling her virginity to her current boss at her temp agency who is rumored to pay big bucks for sex in order to pay for her mother’s cancer treatments. This guy is pretty repulsive in every way possible. Blake, a billionaire banker from the ever secretive Barrington family, sees her at the restaurant, is captivated, invites them to a party and eventually offers her double the amount to make her “his” for three months.

The storyline actually has potential. It could have been great. Once you get over the whole ‘she sold her virginity’ part of the story, the plot isn’t bad. The problem is that it jumps. around. a lot. and it DROVE ME MAD. Staccato. That’s the best way that I can describe the writing style. Maybe you’ll like it, but it was a ‘Dear Diary’ type writing that included speaking to me as the reader and I hate that. Maybe it can work in some situations, but this series didn’t make me a believer. There was also an interview with Blake at the end of one of the books. What.The.Fuck. I’m sorry, who is interviewing him?! It just made zero sense.

The author also jumps around a lot. They’ll be in (what I thought) was the middle of a scene in some public place and then the next paragraph they’re at home and she’s on the bed. I was fucking confused. One second Blake is friendly with Jack, you get no indication otherwise, and then all of a sudden he’s screaming ‘Don’t touch her!’ I had whiplash. I need flow. I need transitions. I need more research into the crazy backstory of the Greek Gods and EI. There was so much potential there, but not enough foundation to support what happens in the story. I was stumbling. The books exhausted me.

I cannot explain how pissed I was when I finished Besotted and then discovered if I wanted to know what happens with Blake and Lana (there were plenty of loose ends) that I had to read a fourth book that was written in the narrative of a new goddamned character who we had never fucking met. I. ahhhh. ugh.

What threw me over the edge is (what I feel to be) a political message that flows through the books regarding the social classes and income disparity. It wasn’t super present in the first few books but the ending of Seduce Me felt like I was being preached to. Don’t hide a political message in a fucking erotica novel and pretend like it’s not there. Don’t do that. I am not reading 1984 with sex. I don’t want your opinion on the future of society regarding the disparity between the classes – I want a happy ending with love and happiness abound. Gah.

I really struggled with whether to even write this review because I am far more interested in writing about books I loved, but I see all of the awesome reviews on Amazon and Goodreads and I just don’t know what these people read. From what I understand some people loved it after they got ‘used to the writing style’…This is not fucking Jane Austen. I shouldn’t need to get used to a writing style – this should be a fun, easy, enjoyable read! Goddamnit.

So, my friends, I think I’m done here. Read at your own risk.

Interesting but Strange

If I was rating the first book in the series I’d be leaving a 5 star review but as it’s the three books I’ve reduced the stars. The first book I loved but book 2 and 3 just went downhill and largely revolved around sex, a lot of sex and the story dragged, then a few chapters at the end the story picks up as they lead into another book. There’s a retelling from different points of view at the end which baffles me a bit and I wondered why it wasn’t written into the story? Seduce Me book 4 which isn’t in this set goes off onto a different couple but has very little storyline revolving around Lana and Blake. The story is about Julie Sugar, Lana’s childhood friend who we’ve never really heard of and an artist called Vann and is completely redundant to the series. I’ll read book 5 only to resolve the storyline but honestly I’m sort of over it. This series could’ve been so much more and I wonder if it’s been drawn out simply for the author to make more money, fortunately I borrowed these on kindle unlimited and I will be returning them.

This book was recommended to me by the only man who could occupy my heart. I value his opinion more than my own some days so I tried it out. Initially I detested this story. This horrible man buying a woman whom he treats so disrespectfully. I was just aggravated by all of it. But of course things take a turn and I find myself not hating it as much as I did and finally just really enjoying it. While Lana was lovely of course the meat and heart of the book for me is Blake. He is such an anti-hero you almost don't recognize the hero in him. However his drive passion and single minded focus to protect what is his makes him so appealing to me. I guess the turning point for me was when he revealed he'd known Sorab was his son from the moment he laid eyes on him. It made me respect him and love everything he did to ensure their safety. In the end I wish there was more but for what it was I thoroughly enjoyed it. 4 solid stars for me.

Good read

This kept my interest. It also was mysterious, so much so that I couldn't figure out the mystery of the next scene. The author kept a tight rein on it letting only bits and pieces out. Looking forward to continuing the series. I enjoyed the authors thinking of even the richest can see the value in the poorest of people. Its doesn't mean the poor are uneducated, its just the way life was handed to them. I also enjoyed the fact how the author had her rich hero learn to enjoy the simple things in life.

What a stunning series!
Like nothing else I have read and I have read hundreds of romance,Erotic and Contemporary but this series has it all. First romance series I have read where I have been prompted to think about the subtle world issues raised throughout these books. But beyond that there is a wonderful story full of angst, suspense and great love, not to mention some incredible sex scenes. Just loved it and cant wait to review the next two.

A surprisingly good read

When I 1st started to read book one in The Billionaire Banker Series I thought it would be your typical rich guy meets poor beautiful girl and they fall in love, that does happen but there is a twist to the story i didn't see coming and found it a bit unbelievable that the rich and powerful could be so controlling, practically a cult lifestyle but it worked and I enjoyed the journey.

This book has a dark side to it but it also has a light side. What we won't go thru for Love. All the pleasure of finding that one person who make you whole. That person who take the ugliness that society throws at you and turns it into the purest love of all. The heart wants what the heart wants
