Summer in Tahoe

Rate this book
Daniela and Dex have perfected the art of bickering. Ever since that one drunken night almost a year ago, they’ve clashed like oil and water, trading sharp words, heated glares, and a chemistry neither of them can seem to shake.

When Daniela returns to Lake Tahoe for her best friend’s summer wedding, she knows exactly what she’s in for: sun-soaked days of boating and hiking…and being stuck with Dex, the best man who is infuriatingly her type—tall, tattooed, and way too good at getting under her skin.

But Daniela didn't come back just for the wedding. After years of rebuilding herself piece by piece, she's finally ready to step into something new. Even if that means facing the man who sees through her defenses a little too easily.

Between wedding prep and forced proximity, their bickering turns into banter, and the line between enemies and lovers starts to blur. For the first time in a long time, Daniela's letting her guard down. But will it cost her? Maybe that night wasn’t such a mistake. Or maybe it was the biggest one of all.

I was so excited to head back to Tahoe and reunite with some of my favorite characters while getting the chance to dive deeper into Daniella and Dex’s story. This book gave me all the summer romance feels with a side of emotional depth that I wasn’t quite expecting—but absolutely appreciated.

Daniella is a complex character who’s clearly been through a lot. It takes time to peel back her layers, but once you do, her poetry, her distance, and her walls all make sense. Her journey toward vulnerability is raw and real, and it’s written in such a way that you can’t help but root for her healing.

And then there’s Dex—my golden retriever boy. Loyal, warm, and endlessly patient. He’s the kind of guy who would quite literally crawl for the woman he loves (and does!). His persistence never felt overbearing, just steady and full of heart, the exact kind of love Daniella needed even when she didn’t think she deserved it.

Together, they are electric. There were moments I found myself a little frustrated with Daniella’s pushback, but ultimately, her growth and his unwavering support made their connection that much more rewarding.

This is a heartwarming love story with just enough ache to shatter you before putting you back together again. Don’t forget to check the content warnings before diving in—but definitely do dive in.

Erica Everett has done it again! I absolutely loved the journey of these characters esp Daniela. We get to follow her on a journey of growth and healing. Erica did an amazing job of discussing trauma and how it can affect one’s relationship with others. Along the way we get a slow burn romance and a MMC that we can all root for 🥵

I loved Summer in Tahoe! At this point the characters feel like my besties so I was expecting an invite to the wedding! I also loooove weddings so setting the book around planning one was just such a treat! Loved that! I really enjoyed getting to know everyone better, esp Dani. She has def been through it but Erica explores her past and brings us along so we really understand her journey. And no spoilers but that man! I am not gonna lie, I was mad at him for a bit but things turned around…. Just had to let them get there.

Omgggg the 🌶️🌶️ - let’s just say it’s the perf balance of spicy and sweet. Such a fun contemporary romance. I really loved both books and need to go to Tahoe now stat!

Ty to Erica for the early arc ebook. I love the cover and will be getting a paperback when it’s out!!!

erica you beautiful soul you’ve done it again.

this was such a great read. the plot flows so well and it was such an easy read, which is especially impressive as erica broached difficult topics (very respectfully and well done imo). the characters are so lovable and erica writes them in a way that they’re so easy to empathize with and relate to. i loved the quick wit and banter of daniella and dex and it was such a treat to get moments with previously loved characters from the series

i loved book 1 and adored book 2 (and am already thirsting for possible book 3 if erica will grace us with another??? 👀)

4.5⭐️I could not wait to be back in Tahoe and reunited with these characters! The summer romance book I needed with all the emotions. I can’t get over how this was such a heartwarming love story with just enough to shatter you before putting you back together again. (So don't forget to check the content warnings)

Daniella is a complex character she’s been through so much and really has a guard up around her heart. Almost to the point you want to scream at her to break the wall down. However seeing her journey, healing, and how she opens up to be vulnerable is so raw you can’t help but feel the emotion. I really was able to relate to this character and her healing really helped heal something inside of me.

Now we can’t forget to talk about our lovable golden retrieve MMC Dex! This man is so loyal, kind, steady and the patience of that man is unmatched. Just what Daniella needs in love. When I say he would crawl for her I mean literally. He just delivers in unwavering support not only to her but as a best friend as well.

This is a must read!

Wow! I thought I loved book 1, I love book 2 just as much! Thank you so much for the opportunity to receive an eARC — Erica has a beautiful way of putting words to paper. I know this doesn’t actually release until May 16th, but is it too soon to ask… beg… plead for a book 3? 😂

This follows our FMC Daniela and MMC Dex - the best friends to Layla and Liam from book one, two weeks in Tahoe. We get banter, a slow burn, growth/healing, trauma, sensitive topics (they were very maturely written / portrayed!), the character depth was PRISTINE, and forced proximity (which happens to be a fav of mine hehehe)

The way we still had glimpses of Layla and Liam was amazing - I love when an author doesn’t just completely “write off” the previous characters.

I loved this book so much and am already wanting to reread them 💖

**UPDATE: WE HAVE A RELEASE DATE: MAY 16!!**

ERICA EVERETT DID THAT!!!

I am SO blessed to have been a beta reader for my dear friend Erica for her second book in the Love in Tahoe series. If you have yet to read Two Weeks in Tahoe, make sure you pick that up before this release later this Spring!

I am so proud of Erica's growth as an author, and it really shows here. She added character depth and some darker themes that made me cry not once but TWICE. I don't always cry in contemporary romance, so it's impressive when I do. Daniela and Dex are great main character's I really loved them both and Dex is SOOOO hot!!! Do you like Darius Acrux but wish he was nicer? You'll love this man.

I really appreciated the character development, and I enjoyed the slow burn here. It was absolutely worth the wait. Make sure you put Erica Everett on your radar, she will be the next big thing in contemporary! Fingers and toes crossed.

I was lucky enough to read this as an ARC before it came out. It’s a great contemporary romance. I love the story, the spice, the characters. The book itself is just so pretty, and I love a good cover. If I had never been to Tahoe, the description in the book did it justice to imagine it. So so good.

Welcome back to beautiful Tahoe! It was such a joy to reunite with the familiar faces from Two Weeks in Tahoe and see how their lives have continued to unfold. Erica’s writing is effortlessly charming—reading her stories feels like curling up with a warm mug of something cozy. Her prose is inviting, comforting, and perfect for a relaxing escape.

This book delivers exactly what you’d want in a follow-up: a sweet romance, an engaging plot, and just the right dose of heart. If you’re in the mood for a feel-good love story with familiar characters and a strong sense of place, this one’s a perfect pick!

So… I went back to Lake Tahoe a couple days ago.

As soon as Dex mentioned him and Dani being together in ‘Two Weeks in Tahoe’ I was SO excited to read about their story next. I loved the back and forth but also just at the edge of my seat waiting for one of them to make the first move. I loved how forward they were with each other once they had enough of dodging each other and walking on eggshells. The tension was THICKKKK! And the moments together were hot 🥵

Dex had a guarded heart but he was willing to open it up and take the chance. Dani went through hell and back and still was strong enough to let Dex in and show her that there’s at least one man that is trustworthy. I mean…once you get food poisoning..you’re locked in😂

This story also touches on some sensitive topics but in the right way. I don’t read a lot of books that dive into the subjects that were mentioned so it was eye opening and in a way, acceptance because I’ve been through some of the things Dani has been through.

I absolutely loved both book. I think dex is my favorite, tho. I totally get why Daniela was being distant, but the whole time, I'm like, come on, girl, I'm telling you dex is your man.lol. There is a quote from Dex's pov that I just really loved spoiler maybe?

"How can one girl be so loudly present and yet so incredibly distant at the same time?
It’s like trying to catch a rainbow. Just when you think you’ve reached it, it’s never there when you lift a hand to touch it."

The empath in me was definitely feeling for Daniela many times.

well done, Erica. I will definitely read everything you write. maybe we can get a short story of a glimpse into the future of both couples? hmm, hmm. lol just saying I would read it.

Woooo-weeeee, Erica Everett writes the most bingey little things on EARTH. Man I LOVE the Love in Tahoe books. I think I loved this one even more than the first (bc I related to it in a lot of ways). But the characters are just SO lovely. I was so happy Summer still had a good bit of the characters I loved so much in Two Weeks but then this book also gives us more Dex who is a TOP TIER book boyfriend. Man oh man. 😂😂😂 That ice cube scene? 😅💦 Then there is Daniela. My favorite kind of FMC. She’s guarded. She’s tough. She copes with humor. But she’s been through a lot and if you can break through her exterior, she has SO much to offer. I saw so much of myself in Daniela, it honestly made this book really special to read.

This book touched on some darker themes and I think the way the author moved around them was brilliant. Making a book relatable while also keeping it light and enjoyable isn’t an easy thing to do and Erica Everett knows how to do that. She just knows how to write unhatable characters. (She knows how to write hatable ones too- Marney, I’m coming for you, girl!! 😂) She knows how to write spice. She’s just gonna be a force in the romance genre, y’all just wait and see.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One of my favorite lines in the book (a non spoiler little snippet just so y’all can see and understand Miss Erica’s way with words):

“How can one girl be so loudly present and yet so incredibly distant at the same time? It’s like trying to catch a rainbow. Just when you think you’ve reached it, it’s never there when you lift a hand to touch it.”

I mean come on.🤌🏼

I really enjoyed book 1 and have been SO excited to get Daniela & Dex’s story, but I didn’t expect to LOVE it as much as I do.

It had me in ALL my feels. The yearning, the secrets, the walls our FMC put up to handle her trauma, the way he was patient with her. This story will forever be engrained in my brain and heart.

Summer in Tahoe couldn’t have been more perfect, this book was truly the cherry on top to "Two Weeks in Tahoe". I breezed through it, savoring every chapter and highlighting so many heartfelt moments along the way. Daniela is such a strong, layered female lead. She’s been through so much in just 28 years, and her past has made her understandably cautious when it comes to love.

Her story with Dex unfolds gently, set against the joyful backdrop of Liam and Layla’s wedding. Their romance was a slow burn, filled with tension, vulnerability, and soft, genuine moments that made me root for them throughout. The dual POVs made it even more special, getting inside both of their minds allowed us to really feel their hesitations, hopes, and emotional growth.

Dex’s patience with Daniela and the way she slowly let him in felt so real and earned. The book also does a beautiful job of touching on heavier topics in a sensitive, respectful way, reminding us that our past doesn’t define us and that healing often begins when we allow ourselves to be truly seen by someone else. Daniela had Layla as her person for the longest time, and watching her slowly let Dex into that inner circle was so moving.

If you’re thinking about picking up this book, this is your sign. The series is emotional, romantic, and deeply satisfying. They're the kind of books you don’t want to put down.

Huge thank you to Erica Everett for the opportunity to be an ARC reader, I will happily read anything you write. Your stories never fail to touch my heart 🩷

"𝐼'𝓂 𝑔𝑜𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝑜 𝓉𝒶𝓀𝑒 𝓂𝓎 𝓉𝒾𝓂𝑒 𝓌𝒾𝓉𝒽 𝓎𝑜𝓊"

Daniela is a middle school teacher in Sacramento and she is about to spend her Summer in Tahoe for her best friends wedding. Daniela is sassy, spunky and drums to the beat of her own drum. I loved her character so much she is also obsessed with men's thick thighs 🤭

Sexy Dexy (Dexter) he's such a softy. Him and Daniela had a one night stand last Thanksgiving and out of no where she ghosts him. Now that she back in town he's keeping away but also he's drawn to her and the slow burn was so worth it! There were some secrets revealed that left me feeling shocked, this is a feel good romance but also deals with a lot of real life issues and traumas.

The banter and yearning were such a great setup for the crawl to me moment, let me tell you, this is something you're going to want to read!
This is one of those books that draws you in and you can't stop turning the page , it really takes me back to a 90's romcom movie setting.

Thank you so much Erica for the honor of allowing me to arc read Summer in Tahoe. I'll just the over here thinking about Dex & Daniela for the rest of my days.

*ARC REVIEW*

“He smiles at me and it makes my insides melt, because this man takes the time to really see me and understand me, and I still don’t feel deserving. But I will try my best to earn it.”
- Daniela

Erica, thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read and review your second book early. you did not disappoint me and I am seriously in love with your writing style. I can’t wait to read more from you in the future! 🫶🏽

wow, where do I even begin?! I always love books where there is so much tension between the fmc and mmc. Daniela has sworn off all men and wants no strings attached. Dex, on the other hand, is this sexy, kind, caring man who she cannot resist.

I truly loved their storyline. I love it when the one trying so hard to not get attached, opens up little by little and ends up falling. and for the right person too.

this was one of those books where I was like, okay, one more chapter, one more chapter. it consumed me. it is the perfect book for the upcoming summer season.

this book releases in 4 days (May 16th) and will be available on KU! you can preorder now. keep in mind there are some heavier topics in this books so please be mindful.

ARC REVIEW. I loved this book! Dex and Daniela were everything! They fought hard for their happy ending. Daniela was tough, she pushed Dex away most of the book but when she got out of her head and gave him a chance all was well and they got their HEA!

We first meet Dex and Daniela in book 1 in the series, Two Weeks In Tahoe. Dex is Liam’s best friend and Daniela is Layla’s best friend. Despite their banter and snarky remarks to each other they have a connection which leads to a one night stand on Thanksgiving. Daniela is instantly mortified and ignores Dex completely despite him trying to reach out to her for months. The summer comes and Liam and Layla are getting married and Dex and Daniela are best man and maid of honor.

They fight hard to ignore each other at first but that didn’t work, it never does. Once Dex finds out the real reason Daniela stayed away they finally get their happy ending. I also wasn’t expecting Daniela’s big secret reveal and it was so sad!

Love me some mild spice and that tree scene! Yessssss! Can’t wait for the next book!

Erica did it again!!

I was so excited to visit Tahoe again and delve deeper into Daniela and Dex's story while visiting some beloved characters. The way Daniela was able to grow and heal while learning to open herself up to Dex and come to terms with accepting that she does deserve to be loved and be happy was done so well! Daniela really resonated with me. As soon as I started reading, I couldn't put it down. The tension and angst between Dex and Daniela was too good. The level of mystery to Daniela and all the weight she was carrying was done perfectly and even made me tear up. (It's really hard to do that for me with books) I just felt so connected to these characters and what they were going through/had gone through. It was navigated perfectly. So well done!

Erica Everett did such a good just utilizing the backdrop of Tahoe in Two Weeks in Tahoe and this follow up was no different! She made me, a perpetual wedding planner trope hater, really enjoy this book! I didn’t expect the writing to wow me but I think this book was even more sure of itself than the last! Such a breeze to read both, though.

But what gets me the most is how much I related to Daniela! Some of her thoughts and fears felt plucked out of my own head and i felt soooo seen! Dex was great with her trauma 🩷

I thought I’d hate the ex gf drama but it didn’t irritate me really. Also, Big J “I don’t go by Big J anymore” reminded me of my nephews 😂

The cameos were heartfelt and brow raising. I totally don’t have a vested interest in you reading it 👀👀👀👀

The spice 🥵 🌶️🌶️/5

Thank you to Erica Everett for the eARC so proud of you once again

I absolutely LOVED this one! Thank you so much to the author for providing me with an eARC of this book. I already enjoyed the first book, and I think that really set the stage for me to love this one even more. Such a perfect balance of sweet, emotional, and spicy all in one. I love how we got to see the main characters' personal growth and their journey of getting to know each other better. It was also so lovely to see the couple from book one and how well things are going for them. This was perfect. Plus, bonus points for the FMC loving boba!

Read this one if you like:
- found family
- banter
- best man / maid of honor
- small town
- dual POV

4.5 ⭐️ Another amazing love story in Tahoe. Erica’s ability to make the love story so sweet while still giving us such a complex FMC makes for a great book.

This one is a slower burn for sure, but so worth it. I appreciated the balance between witty banter and serious moments exploring Daniela’s past traumas.

We also get to keep up with Liam & Layla and their story which made it that much more fun to come back to Tahoe. There are also quite a few new characters which makes me excited for the potential of more books in the series!

I closed my kindle with tears in my eyes but so satisfied with the story. Will be reading everything Erica Everett writes without a doubt.

4.5 🌟
This series is so short and cute! I loved the emotional aspects and think adding just a little more detail would make this 5 stars. Daniella and Dex's story was a little more messy, but, still pulls all the heartstrings.

The mmc's in this series are all really perfect and I love how they take the fmc's insecurities and show so much love and support for them. Dex had his pouty moments but was still respectful, kind and patiently waited for his moment.

Daniella has really important and tragic stories. I enjoyed how loyal she was to Layla and how open she was about things she considered flaws of hers. I really hope we get more on her brother in the next book too.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED DANI & DEX’S STORY!

Our MMC, Dex is just absolutely so patient and swoon worthy through out this whole book. Dani, our FMC, man I just want to put myself in this book and hug her. I knew after reading Two Weeks in Tahoe, I’d adore their story because I knew Erica was going to build more depth to these characters and make it good. I loved both characters and their love for their best friends, just makes both book 1 & 2 adorable. I think if you enjoyed Two Weeks in Tahoe, you’ll really enjoy this one.

I absolutely DEVOURED this in one sitting. I have been looking forward to Daniela and Dex since they met. Their connection was present from the book one and it did not disappoint.

Daniela’s story was so beautiful and I loved witnessing her strength go from an outward defense mechanism to true strength. I loved Dex and his patience and his ability to show his emotions.

Erica has such a talent for telling an amazingly heartwarming and emotional story while also making you giggle, kick your feet and blush.

Thank you so much Erica for the ARC!!!

Summer In Tahoe by Erica Everett

- Small town
- One night stand
- Slow burn
- He falls first

Ohhh, how I missed these characters! Felt good to be back 🩵
I loved Dex in Two Weeks in Tahoe, but omg he completely stole my heart in this book! He’s the best. I loved how patient and kind he was in giving Daniela time to figure out her feelings, but at the same time, he knew when to push hard and just go for it.
The slow burn was 🤌🏽 it was super fun having Liam and Layla from book 1 play a big part in this book! Thank you so much @ericaeverettauthor for my ARC 🥹

Daniela and Dexs story was a another cute one and I'm glad we got it! Although the book does play right along the lines of the quirky best friend with a dark past and golden retriever boy cliché I still very much enjoyed how it was executed! The pacing Everett uses is always on point and although there is some drama it's never over the top making it a perfect light and airy read. Dex and Daniela have great chemistry together and are both really fun characters by themselves.

I'm excited to see where the next book takes us - dare I say C&J?

Summer in Tahoe isn’t you’re average lovey dovey rom com; it’s got some grit while maintaining the romantic/spicy summer vibes 🌅 and there’s nothing I love more than a good love story with a little bit of turmoil. Also 👀 LOOK HOW GORGEOUS THESE COVERS ARE!!! I’m obsessed. The spice was good (🧊😉🥵), the banter was good, and there’s nothing more delicious to me than a good slow burn ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 + bonus points for the twilight mention 🤭
