Who does a consummate savior turn to when he finds himself in need of saving?
For years, former SEAL John “Tex” Keegan has been the literal port in every storm, saving the lives of countless men, women, and children—soldiers, sailors, and civilians—all around the world, working alone from the safety of his basement. He never expects thanks. Doesn’t do it for gratitude or accolades. He’s simply a protector down to his bones, doing what he was born to do, what he’s always done, during and after his military career. But when someone snatches Tex off his street in broad daylight, who will come to the aid of the man who rescues all others?
The everyone. And Lord help the people stupid enough to cross anyone Protecting Tex…
**Protecting Tex is a bonus book in the SEAL of Protection Series. It takes place several years in the future after the last book in this series and includes many characters from other series I've written over the years. When they learn Tex is in danger they all come running to help out. You can read this without having read my other books, but it'll increase your appreciation if you're familiar with some of the other characters.
New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Susan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Tennessee where she lives, but this all American girl has also spent the last fourteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, Indiana, and Tennessee. She's married to a retired Army man who now gets to follow her around the country.
OMG! I totally loved this book! Susan has once again written the perfect story. I love all her stories, but the SEAL of Perfection is still one of my most favorite series. I love how she brought so many of her series together in this story. It was like going home to visit with old friends you haven’t seen in a while. I laughed and cried while reading this one. It ended perfectly and I’m so glad I read it. You will not be disappointed. She weaves a wonderful story of love friendship and sacrifice.
This had my heart beating out of my chest! The level of anxiety while the story unfolded, high. The feelings that the characters were experiencing, those were absolutely transferred to me. The love and caring all these characters feel for each other, palpable. I raced through this story, needing to know how it unfolded, what the conclusion was, and for Tex and Mel to be reunited and getting back to their HEA <3
It was a fun, short one-night read! Seeing all the characters again was fun, but I would have liked to see more action.
Annie was as amazing as ever, but I would have liked to read from Truck's perspective. The interrogation and coming up on the person responsible for what Tex went through.
Protecting Tex was the most recent and last installment of the series but probably any of the series by this author that has this character in it, would be applicable to read this one. As he is the character that connects many of these series together. Protecting Tex takes place a handful of years in the future from when this series takes place, and he is kidnapped and his wife injured from the attack. And so his wife, their friends join forces to bring him back home. This is a book that really digs deep into the emotion, seeing the torment of being kidnapped and the bonds of friendships that come together to bring their man home. This was a great novella that really takes us into a heartfelt story and loved seeing Tex in the future and all the lives that he has touched within this world.
This storyline about Tex was epic. I could not put it down. I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with the OGs of Seals of Protection. My favorite scenes were of Annie walking in and Annie rescuing Tex. This storyline does not disappoint. Tex was put through what every heroine of Susan Stoker goes through. I love the love Tex and Melody have for each other. Can't wait to see more of Tex finding that seal. Can't wait to see more of Baker, Ryleigh and Beth, and everyone. I predict more storylines using the retired OGs. A must read and reread.
An excellent read that will have all your emotions in play, the love they have for each other and all their friends helping to find Tex. And Annie, Green Beret no less right there with them. You won't be disappointed. HEA.
As expected, this book had me on the edge of my seat from the first page. I knew what to expect going into the story, but I still wasn't prepared to see it happen to Tex. I mean, come on, IT'S TEX!!! But to see so many of his friends come together—so many characters from so many beloved stories. What an adventure.
This novella hooks you in from the first word, grabs you by the throat and keeps you enthralled until the last syllable, it was unputdownable from start to finish. If you’ve ever read any of Susan Stoker’s series, you know who Tex is and how important he is to the safety of all the characters in Stoker world. In this story, some of those characters get an opportunity to find and rescue Tex after he is kidnapped. The story had the perfect balance of humor, heartwarming love, real life issues, danger, and suspense. I knew I’d enjoy this book because I love all of this author’s books but oh boy I didn’t expect to feel all the things so deeply while reading it. Despite being short, this novella was well written and included engaging dialogue, three dimensional characters, and a captivating storyline. Plus, it was great to visit some main characters from previous books.
OMG this is another Susan Stoker winner. You will laugh and cry. Tex and Melody are kidnapped just houses from their own in broad daylight. Melody gets thrown from the moving vehicle just minutes later outside of town. The detective that comes to the hospital to talk to her about this basically accused her of hiring someone to kidnap Tex. The first call for help goes to Wolf and he calls everyone from there who can help. It is amazing to see how everyone wants to come and look for Tex immediately. How many of them drop everything to be there to find Tex, even Annie demanding emergency leave to get to Melody to help find him. It was great to see so many old friends come together but then we all knew that if Tex needed help people would be there in masses to help him.
Omg, this book is absolutely phenomenal and will definitely have you enthralled from the beginning until the end. It's heart-pounding action packed filled with suspense, and with the help of Tex's close friends, can they find him and save him in time? It's such a compelling story that will definitely set your emotions on overdrive and might have you grabbing for tissues. It's so fantastic to see all of wolf's team and Caroline and Annie and Truck and everyone else in this book. Thank you Susan for another fantastic story.
I absolutely loved this book! As a fellow Stoker Stalker we all know and love Tex. He’s the one you want tracking you when things go FUBAR. It comes as no surprise that when Tex is kidnapped everyone wants to be there for him. I got to visit old friends and watch them in action as they work to find Tex. When Tex admitted to himself he was depressed he immediately tried to figure out who had him and why and knew he had people looking for him and he just needed to hang on. Grab Protecting Tex from Susan Stoker’s Store and dive in.
Love Tex. This wasn't my favorite I've ever read, but it was a fun little read.
There are multiple throwbacks to the previous series. The author writes you can read this as a standalone, but I would say no -- it really doesn't make sense without knowing everyone's history.
The reason I give it three stars is due to how Melody is treated. She was much more badass in the previous book, but pretty mousy in this.
However, like all her other books, I'll likely reread this one at some point.
Tex is everyone’s favorite and everyone’s hero. He’s the guy that everyone turns to when things get serious and they need a miracle. When things get serious for Tex and Melody, and Tex is taken, their friends really show up. In every way possible, anyone Tex has ever helped show up to help Tex. I absolutely loved this and loved seeing so many old friends in one place!
Well done story of how friends unite to save the man who is always ready to help everyone else. When Tex and Melody are snatched right in their own neighborhood, the call eventually gets out to Wolf first, who then calls in , well- everyone! Many of Stoker's characters from many series all respond to help Tex, and it does end well.
Perfect! Nothing more to say really. Now Tex finally knows how much he is loved and appreciated by all his friends. Wish they were all real. The book I didn’t know how much I needed it.
Throw the timeline and continuity out the window and enjoy this gem about our favorite hero/protector/badass/hacker and all the friends who come to protect him!!
What an excellent story about Tex and a lot of his friends. It was grea to see the human side of this incredible man. To see so many people stood up when Tex needed them was truly outstanding. Absolutely loved Protecting Tex.
Any story about beloved Tex is going to be great in my opinion and this did not disappoint. Computer genius, retired navy SEAL,Tex is kidnapped and it’s up his friends to rescue him. His friends who have relied on his help for years in the worst of circumstances. His friends who are the best of the best, retired SEALS and other military hero’s.
This short, less than 200 page story, is page turner and easily read in an evening. I loved all of the men and women coming to Tex and Melody’s rescue. I especially loved Green Beret Annie’s role and computer genius Ryleigh.
If you read this as a stand alone, which you can, you’ll want to dive into all the books and all the stories of Tex’s friends. The list is in the back of this book. I’ve read many and recommend them all.
Thank you Susan for giving us this story. Tex is the best!
Great story had me laughing, crying and rooting for the good guys to find Tex. Brought back some memories I need to go back and read some series again. Can't wait for the next adventure Susan has up her sleeve
Let me start by saying it would be very difficult to write a story about Tex, who has been the thread through virtually every book SS has written in the last decade. So I wanted to cut a bit of slack right out of the gate. That being said, this is a real disappointment.
Tex gets kidnapped along with his wife. She gets shoved out of a moving car and has to deal with police who aren't interested in her story. Why is it that local police are always portrayed as stupid, lazy, corrupt, and/or incompetent? I never pick up one of these stories where the local police are put in even the slightest positive light.
The wife calls in the troops for help, so to speak. For many long pages, we get a basic listing of tons of characters from previous series. This makes sense, but it still often felt like a rote listing that just filled up space. There were almost no little updates about any of the couples except for one character. This gave it a list feel and not a story.
Also, Tex's wife, who was often referred to as his "rock," was portrayed as a weepy off balance woman and not the capable person she is. I get.thst this is an upsetting situation, but no other female character got this treatment. I thought it was shabby.
The actual figuring out of which bad guys might be involved was interesting. I did find it confusing because I was unsure if there were several bad guys who worked together or what. For some time it sounded like one bad guy, but in the end, it appeared to be more. Since there was actually no confrontation with the bad guy, just a bit of text that wrapped up some things, you couldn't tell.
And this is probably my biggest issue with this book. Very little action here! Besides a quick 3-4 page shootout, we get nothing. There's a wrap up that we're told about, but not shown. WTH? I read books like this for the action. I don't want to be told that the bad guy "sang like a bird before he...passed away." Seriously. And there was nothing at all said about the police who were originally involved. There was just some text telling us how things fell out. We're other bad.guys apprehended? And by who? No one knows. Super, super disappointing.
There actually was very little discussion about the billion dollars that flowed into Tex's coffers. (His orignal ransom.) He didn't really talk even to his wife about plans for that money. Just another dropped line that went nowhere.
The whole story fell off a cliff very quickly, and then it was over. It was abrupt as he!!.
Just a big disappointment all around.

PROTECTING TEX by SUSAN STOKER ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Protecting Tex is the 12th book in Susan Stoker’s Seal of Protection series
When Tex is kidnapped on the street, along with his wife Melody, his friends have to work together to find out who took him and get him back.

Finally Tex’s long awaited book is here. Firstly I have to say it is more a novella than a book. I purchased a paperback copy which at only 206 pages ( in large print with big spacing) is very disappointing to be honest. Now don’t get me wrong, I have been a huge fan of Ms Stokers books - I own them all up to now but I think this will be my last. I’ve noticed lately that her books have been becoming a bit ‘formulaic’, predictable, and dare I say it, boring, and this one is no exception. I would suggest, if you are desperate to read Tex’s book that you wait until it is hugely reduced because it simply wasn’t value for money. It took me just two hours to read and the editing wasn’t great- I found many errors. Sorry 🤷🏻♀️. I don’t like being negative about any authors work but equally I have to be honest in my opinion though I’m sure there will be many that absolutely LOVE this book. The premise is good and it has the potential to be a really gripping book. There were many aspects that could, in my opinion, have been investigated more but were skimmed over. Sometimes it feels like Ms Stoker is pumping books out so rapidly that the quality suffers.
That said there were some positives. It was great to finally get Tex’s story and to meet lots of characters from Ms Stokers previous series. Ms Stoker always writes engaging, interesting stories that are very easy to read.
Reading Protecting Tex is like having family home for Christmas. Everyone comes who can and no introductions need to be made. Everyone takes up where they last met and everyone catches up fast. Susan Stoker brings the best of the best characters together to find Tex. Tex is the brains behind the finding of missing people or kidnapped people around the world. He can do wonders with his computer and lately with his trackers. Until now, the trackers were usually pieces of jewelry; but now he has a prototype which is imbedded beneath the skin much like a microchip for a dog or cat. Unfortunately, although he tries to get everyone to have a tracker, he does not have one himself. He could sure use one now. Tex and Melody were on their way home from the supermarket talking about their daughter's boyfriend. Tex was against it as Hope was only in seventh grade. Melody was trying to calm him down when a van came at them head on. The next thing they knew, men jumped out of the van and converged on their car. They kidnapped Tex and Melody in their own neighborhood. Putting bags over their heads to confuse them, they drove off. Eventually, they threw Melody out of the van and drove off with Tex. When Melody tried to tell the police what had happened, they tended to blame her instead. After being treated at the hospital, Melody went home and called Tex's best friend Wolf who got the ball rolling to find Tex. This involved finding someone who could hack into Tex's computers and others who could track and rescue people. Meanwhile, Tex is secured in a box, only to be brought out to be beaten more. How long will it take to find him?
A who’s who if favorites from the Susan Stoker universe. Tex has been a favorite for years as he helps people out in all the series without asking or wanting anything in return, even a thank you. Now he has been taken and everyone comes running or helping in their own way. We see so many favorites and it was crazy to see which ones had met and which ones had only heard of each other since Tex knows them all. Baker, Trucker, Annie!!!!, Ryleigh, Beth, Wolf, and so many from their headquarters helped find information and raise money. The amount brought in by those Tex helped and those who just knew of his kindness and efforts was mind boggling and beautiful. This story is full of great moments and dialogue, but my favorites have to be with Ryleigh and how everyone knew Tex thought she was the best, Annie showing up and how the men respected her, but truly how Tex addressed her and respected her role in the rescue. The trackers had me laughing and I am so thrilled we got this additional Tex story that featured so many favorites from so many series. This is a must read!
Thank God I didn’t have to wait too long to read this one! From the very first page, I was completely hooked. What made this book even more special was seeing so many beloved characters from previous stories come together to help rescue Tex, just as he had done for so many of them before. It was an incredible full-circle moment that added so much depth to the story. Watching the past characters step up to return the favor, using everything they had learned and gained from their own experiences, made the stakes feel even higher. It was a powerful and emotional journey, filled with action, suspense, and the kind of camaraderie that makes this series so special. My only complaint? It wasn’t long enough! I would have happily spent even more time with these characters, seeing more of their teamwork and interactions. That said, it was still a fantastic read that left me completely satisfied, and I can’t wait to see what’s next in this world!
Susan♥️ there's no words that can say all that I could use that would be exceptional to what others say about your books📚all I know is that you have brought characters to life that has brought so much to us (your fans). The emotions levels in Protecting Tex, has done so much from the very first words, you always do we just can't seem to stop reading once we start pages keep turning til the end but even though this is the end (but not) we know you are getting better at surprising us with lots more coming. Protecting Tex, has been so much giving ,so much in that Tex can finally see what his help does for those he helps when they needed it, it helps to know that he has people that actually know him still helped him. Your books are so strong, emotional, brave and the story line is so believable that you are taken there with the characters. So love Protecting Tex, can't wait for your next new books♥️📚 Just one question, Who was the "bad" Seal? The one that had a tattoo.
Just finished this. Holy cow. I got a bit teary eyed through this entire book. It was a fast but good read that sucked me in from page one.
No spice. It wasn’t needed as this really wasn’t a romance. It was a thriller through and through-but with a HEA!
If you love Tex as a character in so many military romance stories as well as his own (I think it’s Protecting or Finding Melody?) then you will enjoy this thriller.
As of today you can only purchase the ebook on Susan Stokers website. It’s $4.99 and an instant download. Worth every penny.
I loved seeing past characters come into this story and rally around Melody to find Tex.
Some parts were harder for me to read (once Tex was kidnapped & suffering)-but I also loved that this was a multi POV book so you got chapters from Annie 🥹and Wolf along with Melody and Tex. I really enjoyed this book.

Protecting Tex - by Susan Stoker is the twelfth book in her SEAL of Protection series. It is about Tex being taken and all the other beloved characters whom he had helped over the years come to help him. Wolf and Caroline, from SEAL of Protection along with Abe, cookie, Benny, Mozart, Dude, with Hurt and Cutter mentioned. Truck and Annie from her Delta force series with mentions of Trigger, Fletch, etc. Baker and Jodelle from Hawaii, mentions of Mustang and his team; Ryleigh along with the people of The Refuge along with Alaska and the rest, Elizabeth and Cade, along with the Texas firefighters and law enforcement; Rex and his Mountain mercenaries. Silverstone guys. Raiden and Khloe. The list goes on. It was heartwarming to read about them all and see them rally around. And the strength of both Tex and Melody. Great read.
