I woke up accidentally married to the man I hate—the one who broke my heart ten years ago—and he wants a second chance.
Oh, did I mention I have a stalker? Yep. And in our small town, there are only a few detectives to work the case. One of them is my new husband, who I’m now forced to spend time with. A lot of time.
Detective Ben Donley is sexy, protective and my polar opposite. The life of the party to my reserved nature. The sunshine to my grumpiness. He even comes from a big family—the kind I’ve always wanted, but likely won’t get at this point.
Why? Because even though Ben is no worse for the wear after we broke up all those years ago, my heart still remembers what it was like being loved by him. It fights me whenever I try to move on. My body? God does my body remember and miss him. But my brain won’t forget us being broken and hates him for it.
Now, as I spend more time with him, I’m realizing that grown up Ben is most definitely nothing like the younger version who hurt me. Day by day he shows me the kind of man he is. The kind of man I want.
If my situation isn’t frightening enough with a stalker, add in the fear that I’m falling in love with my accidental husband.
With our history and a stalker in the mix, we can’t possibly have a second chance at love and the perfect life I’ve dreamed of. Right?
Finley Daniels writes romances that are heartfelt, healing, and filled with happy endings. Don’t be surprised if you laugh, cry, then laugh again all in the same book. Finley probably did all of those while writing it…
Finley is a voracious reader. She often loses herself (and sleep) for hours at a time into the world of whatever book she is reading… especially if she’s lucky enough to be relaxing somewhere on a warm beach near the ocean.
She loves gardening, being out in nature, and her fur babies. Her husband isn't so bad, either. She’s also obsessed with watching the owls that live in a nesting box in her back yard. That means if you follow her newsletter, you’ll undoubtedly see lots of pics featuring flowers, pups, and owls!
Finley lives in the Northeastern United States.

Too much repetitive from prior books. Last two books just follow the same events that occurred in book 2 just in a different view points from H and h. Skimmed sections.
This was such a good follow-up after reading Emily Flynn and Fitz's story. In their book, you are on the fringe of the investigation into Trina’s stalker. You know in Emily’s book something is going on with Ben Donley but you’re not quite sure what it is. Is it due to the investigation, or is it due to her knowing him and even with their bad blood it's better than having someone you aren’t acquainted with working so closely with you. Or was there a thing going on?
Well, you find out that the stalker is someone, Trina came in contact with either at the New Year’s Eve party or the Valentine’s Day Firefighter’s Auction. It starts innocently enough with flowers delivered four different times and her believing the flowers are from Ben. You see Ben and Trina have a secret they are hiding and rightly so at this point due to the stalker. But, when she figures out they are not from him and she allows him to investigate it's not comforting. The person knows to keep moving and to use burner phones.
But he doesn’t follow too closely but can take pictures with her family, employees, and friends. He knows where she lives so now she must rely on the one man she vowed to hate ten years ago when he broke her heart. You see other than her sister she had never let anyone get as close to it as she allowed him because she always got burnt. Not even her parents were allowed anywhere near it, especially after how they treated her sister. She would never forgive them. That person was the one person who is the one heading this case, Ben Donley.
However, what she starts to understand through his quiet honesty is that he has matured and takes ownership of his actions leading up to their breakup. Yet, what was left to see could she do the same, and would it be before her stalker caught up with her? It had to be. She was in love with him but was fighting it. She was running out of fuel for her anger. I love how Ben was able to break down her defenses meaning the walls of protection so she would never get hurt. The ones that she put up to fight off everyone. He did it to show her she could let family and friends in.
Once Ben started to her she started to ease up and even smiled a few times. They were good for each other. I love Trina’s hard ass character and how the jokester Ben was the one who brought out the best in her. Most of all she found a mom in Rose.
Just like for every book series, it's nice to see the characters again and get back to the small town atmosphere, which is well-depicted 💙 I like them, I like the atmosphere in Elladine, and that's why I rated it more than 3 stars. Also the plot about Trina's creepy dangerous stalker was good, it brought the story more depth and action 💥 But there were many things that bothered me too.
I read Stay with me, the book about Emily and Fitz, and thought the writing was simple but to-the-point. It still is, now maybe too simple at times and feels a bit lacking.
Not a big fan of the miscommunication trope, so Trina and Ben not talking for 10 years because they thought the other was the bad guy in their own story is quite frustrating 😆
"You really remember this? You remember that about me?" both Trina and Ben have been repeating this sentence way too many times throughout the book. We already get that they care about each other, so obviously they're gonna remember stuff, sooo in my opinion there's no need to be that obvious about it through this kind of non-efficient dialogue.
Also the catchy sentences, the ones we want to use as quotes in our reviews, they all look the same. They seem to be written/constructed on the same foundation base: (these are not real quotes but look a lot like the real ones) "it's always been you and only you" ; "because since we met, it's only been you" ; "I've always wanted you and only you for me", this kind of stuff.
So for me it was a nice read, that's why I rated it 3,25 stars ❤️🩹 but very repetitive and redundant.
PS: I was reading Things we left behind by Lucy Score at the same time I was reading this ARC, and it felt like Only you and me was inspired a lot from it, for numerous scenes and dialogues, sometimes to the letter 🙁
Just gonna come out and say; this really disappointed me. I usually crave books like this and I don’t think I can put it down to not have read the rest of the series either.
I am most definitely curious about other stories in this series, don’t get me wrong, but I also feel I wasn’t as gripped and as invested as expected.

I LOVED this book. 😍 It felt so good to be back in Elladine and Finley’s writing just does something to me. The book even wrung a few tears from me. The story was great. Even though the book pretty much took place in the same timeline as book three, it didn’t feel repetitive. I loved to finally truly learn what happened between the two MCs.
I loved Ben and I really felt bad for him. I know Trina had her traumatic past and problems, but I still felt like he wasn’t treated right by her. Yes, he also made mistakes, but I really just felt bad for him. 💔
I haven’t read book 1 and 2 yet (or the prequel novella), but can’t wait to do so! 🤩
Tropes and stuff: ♥️Second chance 💍Accidentally married ♥️Enemies(ish) to lovers 💍Firefighter FMC ♥️Detective MMC 💍Stalker (not MMC) ♥️FMC in danger, a bit of suspense 🌶️Open door spice
This book is excellent, I have enjoyed the Elladine Fire Series by Finley Daniels! You will totally enjoy this book. It is a standalone, but you are introduced to the next book in the previous one. Start with Come Back To Us and work your way forward, you will not regret it.
Trina is the firefighter and Ben is the detective. They had dated years ago and blame each other for their heartbreak. Neither of them have moved past their time together. When Trina is in danger he stays by her side to protect her to his best ability.
Will Ben be able to thaw Trina's heart? Will Trina even try to forgive Ben? How much will the friends and family but in to the issue? Will they be able to get past the past and concentrate on a future for themselves? What happens with the marriage from Vegas? Let's finish reading to find out!
From enemies ➡️ accidental marriage ➡️ stalker ➡️ only you and I 😍🥰
The author displayed Trina’s insecurities so well and I love how Ben matured since their breakup. Ben took his time to show Trina how much he had changed over the years and the author captures those moments perfectly.
The stalker was definitely the perfect twist to this intense relationship. I kept wondering who’s the stalker while reading… (he seemed like a psychopath). You will be surprised when he is revealed🤯
Without this element in the novel, I don’t think Trina and Ben would have found each other again…. Trina is a strong and independent person who comes across as cold hearted and Ben is Mr Sunshine ☀️.
Grateful for the five years later chapter😌 I really wanted to see how life turned out for them.
Small town swoon! This book is a friends to lovers to enemies to lovers, with a sexy female fire captain and a hot police detective! They wake up in Vegas and realize they are married, maybe legally maybe not!
Trina finds herself being followed and harassed by an aggressive stalker and needs her maybe husband, Ben, to help solve the case. When her home is no longer safe, she moves in with Ben for protection. Close proximity, slow burn, and spice that will light up your heart. and ignite your passion!
Read this series in order, each book builds on the relationships of all of the characters. And these characters are all so much fun! Found family makes a real family.
I freaking love this series, it is so good. This author hit it out of the ballpark with this one. I couldn't wait for Ben and Trina's story and it did not disappoint. These two had a relationship early on but an argument tore them apart and then their stubbornness kept them apart for years. I wanted to throw my Kindle at their hard headedness many times. This story is filled with so many different emotions from heartbreak, love loss and the love of found family and of course true love at last. I love the family and friends of these two especially Ben's mom, she was the best mother you could have. I am so glad these two got the happy ending they deserved. I did not not expect the stalker to be who it was. If you want to read a heartfelt series then this is or you. I highly recommend it.
This one has all the "tropes" I love and more! I wanted Trina's story, especially after reading Emily's in Stay with Me and I was not disappointed. The tension between Ben and Trina is intense, until it isn't, they are both strong characters that have an amazing support system and a admirable protective nature...they just fit. This one is equally emotional as the others in the series, with the added element of a stalker lurking in the shadows. This is WHY Finley has come to be my new favorite Author - I am so happy I took a chance with Come Back to Us!
If you have not read this series, I urge you to pick it up.
Lol, I enjoyed this book very much. It made me laugh. It made me cringe. Swoon and generally made me laugh out loud lots of times. I love the way. The characters mesh together and the love that they shared and the care that they shared in the work environment mainly I love the family the way they came together and Cared and loved one another. I know they annoyed and loved the heck out of one another. That’s what friend mostly do but you love them anyway, and after 10 years, they are family anyway. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.😊👍🏽
The story itself was good, loved the characters, enjoyed the plot… but if you’ve read the series it was basically a rehash of things you already knew about told from a different perspective. I really didn’t like the way the timelines all overlapped through the series. I got bored reading about the same events over and over.
Finley Daniels crafts a poignant love story in Only You and Me. The book’s focus on vulnerability, trust, and deep emotional connections makes it a heartfelt read. The characters’ journey from pain to love is moving and uplifting, leaving readers with a sense of hope and joy.
Trina was very combative and an annoying character
The character Trina was very unnecessarily combative and annoying. Her reasoning for being so dismissive of Ben's feelings was very childish even after he explained past misunderstandings.
Another great romance novel by Finley Daniels! I really enjoyed the romance and the suspense woven into the story with the stalker. I also like that the characters from the other books are in this one as well.
Omg Ben pulled out allllll the stops…. He was so swoony and sweet and just AHHHHHHHH…. He was literally everything Trina needed…. She was so courageous and independent…. These two couldn’t have been more perfect for each other …
Wow, just when you think the couple you really want together isn't going to get together and bam, lets just say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, not really.
this was so cute!! i love Trina and Ben and this was the perfect story after I was so curious about what had happened between them in the previous book! Trina is an independent badass, but I love that she has a vulnerable side to her and cares so deeply for others. Seeing her open up to Ben was beautiful and just incredibly moving. And Ben!!! He is everything!!! I love that he was able to openly admit his mistakes in the past and acknowledged those flaws. He is so devoted to Trina and loves her so much. The yearning between these two, especially from his perceptive is portrayed so beautifully!!! Overall, I did find some of the story predictable considering it overlapped with Stay With Me, but I still really enjoyed their story!!
This series only gets better and better with each book. I think Trina may be my favourite FMC in the series, but I can't even choose my top MMC cause they're all that great.
We saw a preview of Ben and Trina's story in the previous book and the way they acted towards each other (lots of banter and tension) and the mystery of "who did it". This book gave us their hidden history together and even more background into Trina's childhood and her sacrifices for her younger sister. Yes, the reason they first broke up and the fact that they didn't speak for 10 years after that due to miscommunication and stubborn pride was a little frustrating, but I got over it because the angst, tension, and suspense were all beautifully tied into the gradual rebuilding of their relationship.
I loved that their character growths spanned the entire book and how they helped each other with that. Ben learned how to swallow his pride and show vulnerability instead, and understand that how he deals with his ego and insecurities can affect the people he loves. Trina learned that it's okay to not be in control of everything, that it's okay to rely/lean on someone else, and that showing her vulnerabilities doesn't make her any weaker. She made Ben know that he's always been special and Ben made her feel seen.
The found family trope is one of my top 3 favourites and I'm so glad that we got to see more of the friend group. I especially loved Trina's moments with Ben's mom, Rose, and their bonding moments towards the end made me so emotional because you know that this was the first mother figure Trina's ever had. It's bittersweet knowing that there's only one more book left in this series.
Last of the Elladine Fire Series and Finely YOU. DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT… I had been waiting on this book since finishing the ARC for Stay With Me.
Just a misunderstanding that cause 10 years of heartbreak. 💔 I’m so glad Trina and Ben got thier HEA.
Trina (Captain Firefighter) and Ben (Detective) who had a relationship (10 years ago) wake up in Vegas and realize they are married. Not only that she has a stalker. Ben of course becomes protective of his accidental wife who ends up moving in with him once her stalkers gets a bit more aggressive.
Want to find out how these two get their second chance? Read the book… 🤭
