He’s the arrogant, grumpy billionaire bane of my existence... and now I’m his full-time, live-in dating coach.

I’ve never failed to match a client—until him.

Jackson Sinclair has dragged me through eight months of matchmaking hell, and I have the carnage of broken hearts to prove it.
But I refuse to get fired from my dream job because of some infuriatingly gorgeous billionaire and his absurd criteria for a wife.

The plan is simple.
All I have to do is infiltrate his penthouse, pretend to be his blind date, and figure out what the actual f*ck his actual f*cking problem is.
It’ll be fine. He doesn’t know what I look like.

Except I nearly drown in Satan-clair’s massive pool, he figures out who I am, and now I’m forcibly glued to his side for the next 30 days.

It’s a nightmare, until it’s not.
I hate him, until I discover everything he’s been hiding.
We fight, until the tension boils over into sizzling temptation.

Jackson Sinclair may not believe in soulmates, and he may not believe in love, but little does he know, he’s finally met his match…

The best romances leave you with a feeling like you might have fallen in love.

This one left me gooey and happy, with stars in my eyes. It was a warm hug and I made new friends.

I am just so happy.

Jamie is the calm one, the mild-mannered one, the woman who just lets things ride because she doesn't want to deal with it. So, when SHE gets angry, it gets so good to see her telling Jackson where he can put himself. This was enemies to lovers at it's finest. Her getting angry and telling the truth to EVERYONE, was glorious. And her pushing back at him and not letting him get his way? Amazing! I loved that she was a softer sort of person, but that didn't mean that she would cave to bad behavior.

Ugh. It was so good.

This dude was SO grumpy and asshole-ish in the beginning. But when he flips, he flips hard and it's obvious to EVERYONE but himself (and a little bit Jamie too) that he falls first.

He builds her CAT a palace to win him over to his side, complete with a recording of his soothing voice, his scent all over the place, and photos of him. Ugh, it's so cute and manipulative in the best way.

He makes her sushi (even though he sucks at it) because he knows she loves it and he wants to keep her from hanging out with her famous sushi-chef crush.

He woooos her. With fancy dress and shoes he picked out personally.

He carries her away from broken glass.

I could go on and on because Jackson was so lovely once he got over his grumpiness.

He is an idiot for longer than I would like, saying that he wanted an open marriage and not understanding that he was in love with Jamie... but I forgive him and you will, too.

Amazing found family. The friendships in this book are so sweet...

Safety deets
- We don't hear about his sexual history... and he's never been in a relationship. She has been celibate for a year.
- There is a teeny bit of OW drama because she's his matchmaker and working to set him up on matches, but nothing happens with any of those women (though one of them tries to make a move on him).
- There is a teeny bit of OM drama because she meets her celebrity crush and Jackson is NOT okay (see sushi-making, above).
- We get to see them in their HEA a year later, super happy and in love.
- The spicy is spicing.
- No third act breakup.
- some dom/sub play where he calls her some names but since she has a good time, it didn't bother me. But I hear some folks felt like it was degrading.

Ohh, this was so insanely adorable! The second half was much more heartwarming and sweet than I was expecting based on the beginning.
It started out as true enemies to lovers with perfect banter, animosity, and tension, which all slowly grew into more and more chemistry based on genuine affection, trust and connection they built over time.

I especially liked that their relationship was always so balanced: when they were enemies, they were both throwing out the sass and insults at each other in equal measure (it wasn't just him being rude, while she takes it like a doormat: never that), but when they grew closer, they both gave each other true support, understanding and care in equal measure as well. They each gave as much as they got at every stage of their journey.

It was actually super endearing to see how much attention they both paid to the other’s needs and wants; they were both such truly nice and likable people, and it was really charming to see them both open up to and comfort each other.
It was a genuine connection, but not one that was sickeningly sugary; they constantly kept their banter and tension, they never lost that. Therefore, I feel like they constantly kept that spark and chemistry alive, and I never ever grew bored with them.

Also, once he let go of his guarded grumpiness, he genuinely became the perfect guy; he was so in-tune with her, constantly made sure she was okay or comfortable, always wanted to spoil her, did the cutest and most thoughtful (little and big) things for her, and was honestly just downright obsessed with her (and her cat). He straight-up went from a menace from literal Hell to a sensitive golden retriever who simply wanted to be loved (but just by her, no one else would do).

I don’t want to praise only him, though, because the heroine was truly awesome too. She could read him so well and could give him just what he needed to heal from his past trauma and accept love again. The way she would give him words of affirmation about how loveable he was while she wat petting his hair and giving him little kisses was just about the cutest scene I’ve read in a while; she was exactly what he had always wanted even though he never dared to admit that to himself before he met her.

All in all, I can confidently say that while I was reading this I constantly had a giant smile on my face, experienced more than a few heart flutters, and actually laughed out loud at certain points as well. In general, I just had a really good time.

Just plain fun & sexy... and absurd... so everything I want in a B.R.A.D.. While reading this, you may ask yourself “is being a matchmaker the hardest job in the country?” Like... sorry nurses and social workers but have you ever had to find the perfect match for a difficult to please grumpy CEO?? This story is about a matchmaker and her most difficult client. Of course he’s a billionaire! Of course she has to move into his house and shadow him for a month because he’s so hopeless! Of course he buys her Louboutins (not a spoiler.. happens in 99% of B.R.A.D.s 🤪! Very steamy, great dirty talk, need I say more?

it's giving millionaire matchmaker fanfic and i ate it up.

low stakes, fluffy contemp, hot spice. jameson does kinda roll over and simp pretty quickly but honestly i'd rather that from a billionaire mmc than the grumpy asshole schtick. like yes tell her how much you wanna buy her diamonds and eat her out, we are in a financial AND munch recession!

i needed something light and feel good and this delivered.

5 ⭐️ I DEVOURED this book!!!

He couldn't do an ever after and I couldn't do without one.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
✨ billionaire romance
✨ enemies to lovers
✨ matchmaker x client
✨ grumpy x sunshine
✨ forced proximity (living together)
✨ cheeky banter
✨ delicious tension
✨ 3/5 🌶️ (praise, pleasure dom/sub, slight degradation)
✨ longing / pining
✨ jealous about OM and OW but nothing happens
✨ angst
✨ high stakes
✨ HEA
✨ single POV
✨ TW: childhood abuse (emotional and physical)

My Thoughts:

You need to immediately read this book!!!! It’s true hate to love romance that’ll have your heart racing and aching! I seriously could not put this book down and when I had to, it’s all I could think about. I fucking love the beautiful, safe, and understanding friendship that develops between Jamie and Jackson as well as their sizzling romance. Jackson was such a dick at first and took some time to truly understand while Jamie was a little spit-fire and didn't take any of his shit. I love their dynamic! The push and pull between these two was addicting and the banter was top notch. This story was a roller coaster of emotions with a satisfying journey and ending. 10/10 recommend! I wish I could read it again for the first time. 🫶

My only ‘complaint’ might be some words used during sex weren’t for me but honestly I didn’t really matter because the scenes were so good.

Bottom line, READ THIS BOOK ASAP! I'm honestly so sad I finished. It's all I can think about! Truly one of my favorite reads of 2024. Failure to Match is book 2 in the Bad Billionaire Bosses series, but you don't need to read the first one since the characters in that story are hardly present and not important to this story.

Failure to Match follows Jamie, a burnt-out matchmaker, and Jackson, her impossible-to-match client. To solve her problem, Jamie goes undercover as one of his matches to learn why none of them work out and she is shocked by just how terrible Jackson acts on their date. When she is discovered as his matchmaker and called into work the next day, Jamie and Jackson are both forced by his aunt to enter into a training program where she will move in with him for a month to observe and learn what he wants in a partner.

This is easily one of my all-time favorite reads with how sweet, charming, steamy, and full of tension the story is. Jamie and Jackson's banter was top notch, they were so enigmatic together. Their chemistry was apparent from the very minute they met and I loved how it only grew as they got to know each other and dropped their walls. Jackson was so endearing, the way he was obsessed with getting Jamie to like him, his acts of service and gift-giving were just over-the-top adorable. I mean, the man bought her cat a giant cardboard palace with his voice and face attached so he would learn to love him. Beyond his affection, Jackson was so controlling in the bedroom and let me just say.... he absolutely delivered on the dirty talk. If you are into grumpy billionaires who get jealous and possessive but melt for their woman, I cannot recommend this book enough!

REVIEW
In my review for A Deal with the Bossy Devil, I said I was annoyed by how much I liked the book. I owe that book a huge apology because I just didn’t understand everything she was at the time. And also the fact she gave us THIS???

Failure to Match has just as much funny banter and sizzling chemistry as its predecessor. I tend to favor dual pov over singular pov, but I didn’t miss it here because we knew how Jackson felt without ever being in his head. It takes some serious finesse to be able to convey how a non-pov character is feeling through their body language and dialogue, yet Kyra Parsi does it perfectly. I was embarrassingly giggly because of Mr. Jackson Sinclair.

Jamie and Jackson’s reassurance and praise toward the other made the relationship easy to invest in as a reader. It felt so deeply loving and understanding. Jackson’s hang-ups were ever-present yet so understandable. And the cherry on top? He pulled his head out of his butt before it got annoying.

Very rarely do I want to reread a book I just finished reading, but mark my words—I’m reading this again before April is over.

OW/OM DRAMA OM — Jamie has a minor crush on a famous chef that makes Jackson jealous, especially when he becomes interested in signing up to the dating service ||
minor OW — Jamie makes Jackson go on dates (that he doesn’t want to go on) and she has to watch as the women flirt with him
CHEATING none
THIRD ACT BREAKUP sort of/not really — they’re not technically together until the very end but they do cool things down to avoid a broken heart
ENDING HEA — one year later epilogue

POV singular (Jamie) / first person
SPICE LEVEL 4 / 5
RATING 5 / 5

“Is there a chance that if… if we kept going and I fell in love with you... is there even a small chance that you could ever… feel that way about me, do you think?”

I didn’t know how many times I needed to hear it for the truth to sink in, but I promised myself this would be the last. I held my breath, waiting. It didn’t take long.

“No.”

*gasp* *gasp* *gasp again* I THOUGHT THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A FUNNY SMUTTY ROMCOM!!! WHAT IS THIS INTENSE ANGST!!!!!! like im just a girl leave me alone

“I’m never going to fall in love with you.”

SIR SHUT UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

The first 50% of the book is deceptive, I was even starting to get bored... but then the gut punch came and I was in angst heaven..... WHAT WAS THAT 😭

See, this book started out really funny. I couldn't stop giggling, and I thought this book was supposed to be tamer than the first!! Because Jamie was the calm one and Ria from the first book was supposed to be the chaotic one. But the author did a really good job with setting up the plot and creating endearing side characters, like for example, the cat (which is honestly the TRUE winner of this series, let's be real), Toebeans Maguire. Even if the story ended up disappointing, I would still stay for Toebeans.

But this turned out to be so much more. I loved loved loved the conflict in this one. It was heartbreaking & heartwarming at the same time. LOVED everyone's involvement in it, I ADORED THEM ALL. I appreciated that for the first half, the book let me think it was a silly little romcom before ripping my heart out in the next half. Well played.

“Every time you kiss me, I’ll hope it means to you what it does to me. Every time you show me affection, I’ll hope it means that you’re starting to love me back. And I won’t be able to help it.”

Unrequited love... THEY COULD NEVER MAKE ME HATE YOU!!

They went from loathing each other to extreme pining I could feel the tension all the way from here. It was glorious. The way they resented each other's presence in the beginning was exactly what I needed. Yes, please insult & throw dirty looks at each other. It would be so rewarding when one of them eventually realized they fell.

“You know when you can just tell when someone wants to punt you into a different dimension because they’re just so very over your bullshit?”

Jackson was SOOOO over her bullshit it was so funny. And Jamie honestly just wanted to get it over with so she could move on, quit her nightmare of a job and restart. But Jamie was an amazing person. And Jackson was a clueless idiot. EVERYONE could feel the ~electricity~ when they were together BUT them. THE PINING AND THE PUSH AND PULL AND THE HEARTBREAK AND THE REJECTION AND AND AND AND AND AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

“How is it fair that you’re only halfway there, but I can’t fucking breathe anymore, Jamie?”

“Eight billion people in the world and my Jamie’s the best fucking one. It’s her, or it’s no one.”

HE SAID MY JAMIE 😭😭😭😭😭 oh to be a girl freaking out over fictional men calling fictional women theirs

glen powell and sydney sweeney if you see this.. im just saying. no one needs anyone but you the sequel, but I need a failure to match movie. I AM JUST SAYING.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected, since I don't really like billionaire romances.

I think the author did a great job with Jackson’s character, because I really didn’t like him for the longest time. The animosity between him and Jamie felt real right from the start. That’s why I enjoyed the banter between them so much, especially when Jamie stood up to him. Things got surprisingly sweet and heartwarming later on, which I really loved. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Jackson’s dirty talk during the intimate scenes, but at least it didn’t feel out of character for him. So that’s a plus.

There are some situations that felt like taken from the . Not sure if it was on purpose or not. I haven’t read that many billionaire romances to know if that’s a thing. Anyway, I’m glad I didn’t let the pool scene at the beginning put me off, because I had fun reading this story. The writing flows nicely and the dialogues seem very natural. The scenes with Jamie’s cat are some of the best pet scenes I’ve ever read. And the most adorable.

Thank you for the recommendation, Imme! 💕

i really hate to go this low, but i have to. i’m not sure i have the energy to debrief on this without triggering myself. i wanted a laugh out loud spicy romance and went searching. r/romancebooks sold this so hard and i was just giddy, i couldn’t wait. i feel swindled.

after reading it i understand why it was recommended - the man isn’t simply a dirty talker. no. that doesn’t even begin to describe the mouth in this man. filthy isn’t even adequate. So yeah, you want a steamy read, there is SOME of that - but it’s honestly kind of far into the book and comes on way too strong, so it kind of ruins itself honestly. like it is so sudden and extreme and unrealistic. and trust me i love a dirty talking man in a book. this was just so forced though. The second they hook up he becomes some sort of dirty talking menace who is ADDICTED to the girl. it was honestly just comical.

Don’t even get me started on the girl. oh. my god. infuriating. i could not stand her. and her dumb obsession with data. ITS A DATING SERVICE. YOU ARE A MATCH MAKER. why are you talking about collecting data 24/7. perhaps you should treat your clients with a human touch. after all they are people. i didn’t even know what work they did. all they constantly talked about was work they were going to do, in such vague terms. it’s match making. sit your ass down and do your little interview you’ve been talking about for 3 weeks. you’re not diane sawyer preparing to interview the queen of england. jesus christ.

okay and the guys backstory. wow umm. very sad indeed. perhaps too sad… like insane levels of darkness. one parent was an unfaithful ass and the other was literally a sadistic bastard. so yeah umm gigantic trigger warning for child abuse - severe physical and mental/emotional shit. I personally felt this was way way way too much for a fun rom com book. obviously the author wanted to give him some baggage and scars to explain his antics. she didn’t have to give him legit PHYSICAL scars. jesus. and the whole hidden library. i’m sorry is this apartment, in the middle of nyc, like Narnia or something. where the F do you hide a gigantic library with those secret little rooms. like huh????

the two housekeepers were cute but their schtick got old after about 1 scene. if their back and forth a were trimmed down it would have been a funny add but it was honestly just cringey.

to be fair, i did love the scene early on when she went undercover on the date. that was funny. gotta give credit where credit is due.

3.5 ⭐

This was good, but I like the first book better. I kind of struggled to get invested in the story in the first half. All they did was banter, and sure, some of it was amusing, but most of their barbs came off a bit annoying and forced (??). My interest only piqued around the 42% mark when they finally decided to have a truce and agreed to get to know each other and become friends.

I liked that they have an emotional connection and chemistry. But the tension isn't as palpable as I'd hoped it would be. Also, when they decided to stop aggravating one another, they immediately went from 0-100 and started to become handsy as well.

Don't get me wrong, this is already a slow burn, but I would've wanted more time when they're just friends and slowly discovering things about one another. The 180 from being "enemies" to friends to lovers felt abrupt, at least the way I see it.

Anyway, moving on, I found Jack (35) annoying in the beginning, but as the story progressed, I did come to like him. He had a good reason as to why he's the way he is in the story, and I'm curious enough to wait and find out.

Unfortunately, he had a difficult upbringing. He witnessed his mom cheat on his father so many times, and his dad was so in love with his mom that he let her get away with her infidelity time and time again. Sadly for Jack, every time his dad found out his wife was having another affair, he always lashed out at Jack and physically abused him. With this background, I finally understood why he doesn't believe in love and was so against it.

But when Jamie (28) came into his life, she made him question everything he knew about love. They're total opposites; she's romantic at heart, and she loves love, so much so that she worked at a matchmaking company. And Jack is cynical and jaded and doesn't want to do anything about it.

Yet when they started to agree on becoming friends, he also developed a lot of things that he had never considered before, Jamie. He wanted to always make her smile and spoil her with lavish things. He's even more turned on when she refuses him and all the things that wealth can acquire. He even likes it when she's mean to him and deflates his ego. It was fun seeing him be so adorable with her, and ngl, he did swoony and sweet things for her and her cat.

As for Jamie, I love her dedication to her job and how much she enjoys finding love for other people. I had fun with her standing up to her awful boss and how she held her ground while negotiating with her.

I also enjoyed reading her monologue about how much she's irritated with Jack's presence but also attracted to him. I liked that she didn't play games with him or deny her feelings for him. It's exhausting to read indenial characters and see them waste so much time hiding their feelings.

Though it took Jack quite a while for his mind to pick up on what his heart already knew, I still swooned over him. He might have realized it a bit late, but his actions did all the showing for how much he really felt, and honestly, I agree that action speaks louder than words in this book.

As for the spice, it happened at the 59% mark. I think there are only two on-page sexy times, and the rest of what they did was told rather than shown.

Overall, it was good. The slowburn didn't feel dragging, and it was cute when they finally confessed their love for one another. I also enjoyed the plotting of the side characters and how they helped Jack and Jamie be together. It's worth reading, imo, but readers have to bear with the first 40% before it gets better.

Book info:

- Grumpy-sunshine
- Child abuse (past)
- Opposites attract
- Billionaire romance
- Slowburn (spice at 59%)

Notes:
 - OWD. Not really, but one woman tried to kiss him during their date, but he stopped it.
- Dates. He went on 67 dates, which all failed because he sabotaged each.
- OMD. He planned a date with Jamie and invited this chef. He thought she only liked his food, but little did Jack know that she had a huge crush on him. The guy called Jamie later on, and they had a business meeting. Nothing more happened in this, and the OM didn't appear afterwards.
- In the beginning, Jack only wanted to get married to appease his aunt and didn't want to have a sexual relationship with his future wife. He said he's only marrying a potential candidate if she agrees to an open marriage.

there was absolutely nothing I didn’t love about this book. great plot, lovely H and h with actual character development, incredible chemistry, top-tier banter, laugh-out-loud hilarious dialogue, great steamy scenes, super sweet moments, and a touch of angst—it has all I could ever want in a romance. I was hooked from the first paragraph and could put it down until the last. definitely getting added to my comfort reads and I will be revisiting often 💗
also will definitely be reading more Kyra’s books moving forward 😍

read if you like:
billionaire romance
enemies to lovers
forced proximity
she falls first, he falls harder
jealous & obsessed H
cute companion animals

i feel very "girl i guess" about this book, probably because i read it over a five month period, but also....romance writers, i need you to let go of the billionaire trope......i don't think you can even conceive of how much money that is (and this is evidenced by your billionaires' jobs/spending) and i promise you the premise of your books would not change at all if you called the series "bad millionaire bosses" instead. "bad billionaire bosses" like GIRL WE KNOW? FORK FOUND IN KITCHEN???

Second read: pending…

I’ve been seeing this book appearing on my feed for the last couple of week and with positive reviews. Does that mean it’s a sign that I should pick it up as well? 🤔

Though on the other hand, I feel like reading slump wants to pay me a visit. 🤧

DNF @ 49%

I really am not liking this. The banter is good, but the plot is so silly it’s just downright nonsensical, and there has been practically no build up from enemies to lovers. They just decided they’d be friends like 5% ago, and they’re already kissing? What? There’s definitely a good foundation and some delicious tension but something is just really not working for me, and I don’t know what it is. I felt similarly about Kyra’s first book. The plot was also silly, with not a lot of relationship build up and kind of dumb characters, but I managed to overall enjoy and finish that one. Maybe I’m not in the right mood for this? I’m feeling slumpy, so it could just be a me thing, but I’ve been mostly suffering through a good 50% of this. Maybe I’ll come back to it, but I’m putting it down for now.

ladies and gentlemen, I present you another incredible book by this incredible author. Seriously if you haven't read her books yet then what are you doing???

Before I start ranting, I wanna say A HUGE THANK YOU to Ms Kyra for the early copy. God knows I couldn't wait until 27th March when you said you were writing Jamie's book.

Okay here goes nothing -

THINGS I ABSOLUTELY LOVED LOVED LOVED IN THIS BOOK

- Toebeans🐈 I mean as a cat lover myself it brings me immense pleasure when either of the MCs has a cat or cats. He was such a cutie omg.

- Molly and Mabel. Bensen too. The way they all cared about Jackson(H) was so fucking sweet.

- THE BANTER. Ms Kyra never fails to add humor in her books and I couldn't stop smiling over their banter.

- SMEXY SCENES 🥵🔥 they should come with a warning. The perfect mix of both praising and degradation here was HOT AF.

- The emotional connection between Jack and Jamie. My fav scene is when Jamie was telling him all the things she love about him while they were both hugging each other tightly. I live for such intimacy outside bedroom.

- Jackson. He was absolutely perfect. His past made my heart ache and I really wanted go inside the book and give him a tight hug.

also, HE FUCKING MADE A CARDBOARD PALACE FOR TOEBEANS OMG 😭🤌🏼 see? It was inevitable, falling for him.

okay so I don't want to ruin this review by complaining but I want to mention some things I wanted more or the things I didn't like etc. This is a self note to me. You guys can ignore it.

- I wanted Jackson pov at the end. The part when he ignored Jamie for a whole week and the last date he had with that bitch who tried to kiss him and later even blackmailed him. I had the same complain in the first book too lol.

- Dont get me wrong I love kinky smex. But not only I think there weren't enough smexy scenes in this one (I'm sorry I'm greedy lol) but I needed that one soft, slow lovemaking smexy scene too. They were just mentioned and not described...I was disappointed 🥲

Opinion Breakdown
The Good: The premise, the humor, the characters, and the steamy scenes.

The Not-So-Good: The fact that in order to get the extended epilogue, I had to sign up for the author's newsletter-- pet peeve of mine for sure.

The Bad: If anything would be considered "bad" I'd say that it's the fact that we don't get the H's POV. I think this prevented me from fully connecting with him. I know we got other people's opinions on him to help shape our opinion, but I didn't feel like it was enough-- I wanted to know what he was thinking many times.

Overall: This was much better than expected! There were a few things that I think could've brought it to a higher rating for me (more closure in the end, the H's POV, and more connection with side characters). That being said, I liked it! Good surprise as it tapped into my emotions, had some hot steamy times, and left me with a smile.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Jamie and Jackson's story. Jamie has been working for a matchmaking agency and on Jackson's case for over 8 months when she and her coworkers decide to send her on a date incognito to see what really was the problem. Only Jackson finds out who she really is and she finds out that her initial thoughts of him sabotaging the dates was true. Jackson's aunt is basically blackmailing him into using the service, and now she demands that he work with Jamie on what they call an immersion program that requires her to be his shadow, living with him and being his dating coach, for a month. There is some butting of heads, some secrets revealed, some funny moments, and some sexy times....and they get a HEA ending.

Point Of View (POV): This was told in Jamie's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well.

Instalove: No, more like a hate-to-friends-with-benefits-to-more

H (Hero) rating: 3.5 stars. Jackson. I liked him but I really wanted more into his psyche and I think having his POV could've really helped with that, because I don't feel like we got as deep into his character as I would've liked.

h (heroine) rating: 4 stars. Jamie. I liked her. She was sassy and said it like it was but not in an annoyingly bitchy way.

Sadness level: Moderate. I shed some tears but never needed any tissues -- this was a surprise!

Push/Pull:Yes

Heat level: Hot. They have some hot tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: No

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This ends in a cute place with what I would call a HEA ending

Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

Enemies, banter, and a hero who turns up the heat—Failure to Match is a rom-com lover’s dream.

From the first page, this book hooked me with its sharp, witty dialogue and electric chemistry between the leads. The enemies-to-lovers tension was spot-on, and the slow build to friends and eventually lovers was executed perfectly. The first half was my favorite—fast-paced, full of snark, humor, and banter that kept my brain happily engaged.

By the halfway mark, things got hot. The dirty-talking hero raised the stakes, turning up the heat to an 11. It’s safe to say my Kindle was practically on fire at 57%.

The second half slowed down a bit and dragged in places, but even with a little skimming 🫣, the overall experience was incredibly satisfying. Kyra Parsi delivers exactly what I love in a romance: humor, heart, and heat. I’m officially on the lookout for more from her!

Failure to Match is funny. It was entertaining. The characters are having that intense chemistry for the enemy to lover vibe.
This book is also my first read by Miss Parsi.

Yet something is missing....

Suddenly everyone was reading and praising this book which forced me to pick it up and they weren't lying !!

This was so much fun and entertaining. This book blends the emotions, insecurities and past trauma so beautifully to make the story raw and real.

It had a healthy amount of humour, emotion and intimacy. Love their interaction and especially the earlier chapters where he wanted to get rid of her and then doing everything to keep her in his life.

Totally worth the hype.

I SO wanted to love this. I’m super bummed this wasn’t better.

Let me start by saying that I truly despise when characters who are capable in every other aspect of their lives are morons when it comes to their romantic relationships. In the case of this book, BOTH characters are idiots.

Our MMC has been burned and his answer to that pain is approaching every relationship like a business transaction.

Conversely, our FMC just so happens to be in the business of making love matches and believes in the HEA.

Great premise. Except these two dance around each other like a couple of twits. He’s consumed with wanting to please and posses her and she’s consumed by resisting to the point I simply stopped caring about either of them. And yet, even through all the pining, these two numpties can’t get it together and agree that they actually like each other.

That aside, the plot is recycled which normally I can live with if the execution is good and the author has made it their own except that didn’t happen here.

Onward and upward!

I don't know who tried their hardest—me, who was gaslighting myself to like this book, or the author for failing at the attempt.

This was absurd in a not-so-enjoyable way. The plot may seem intriguing, but the writing style was so erratic and choppy; romance is written around tropes, there is no chemistry between these already bland characters, got corny dialogues, and only a fool would make a man like him a CEO, even in fiction.
