Aspen
I’ve finally escaped the everyday hell I’ve dealt with since I was a child. Moving to the small Colorado town of Raven Creek to build a new life felt like the best idea at the time. One of peace, calm nights, and good friends. But when I introduce the hot as sin cowboy as my fake boyfriend for one night, everything shifts. The question is, is it for better or worse?

Rowan
I’ve spent my entire life taking care of my family and our ranch. That all shifts the moment I see her across the bar. Rescuing her from another man was the easy part, but when she says I’m her boyfriend? It all just feels right—I’m hooked. Some may even say obsessed. But I don’t care. I’m willing to do whatever I have to, to ensure she remains mine.

Dark bir kasaba hikayesi vayyy be…

Found family, kasaba, az dark seviyorsanız kitabı seversiniz. Okumadan önce tw/cw bakmanızı öneririm.

FMC - Aspen: 5 🌟
MMC - Rowan: ♾️ 🌟
SPICE: 🌶 🌶 🌶 🌶

Hell of a start for my October reads! And yet another cowboy romance that makes me feel like I absolutely need to start reading about more cowboys lol

This book was an incredible mix of suspense and deliciously spicy romance, and I could not stop reading it! Plus, an incredibly sexy cowboy who's also a morally grey stalker? Uhhhhhm yes please!!

Aspen's story, her past and the trauma that she's constantly carrying on her shoulders, was consuming. I loved to see her learn to trust and open up to someone again, though it was still a bumpy journey. And Rowan? I don't seem to care at all that he implanted a tracker on her, got a copy of her key to sneak in at night, or tattooed her name on his body after only knowing her a few weeks. He is perfection, and no one can tell me otherwise 😆

So if you're a dark romance girly with a love for hot cowboys in tight Wranglers who will literally do anything for the woman he loves, then do not sleep on this book! Just go ahead and add it to your TBR and thank me later 😉

Alright, I have a new cowboy series that I definitely have plans to follow! Beneath the Midnight Sky is a dark cowboy romance, that is essentially an ode and twist to the “he falls first and HARD” trope. We have a young woman on the run from a dangerous past, only to find herself in the grasp of a man who intends to keep her forever, and really at any means necessary. But it’s okay, because she’s kinda into it.

What made this story unique was that it genuinely had everything you love from an Elsie Silver novel, while also throwing in some Tessier’s Lords type behavior. The story got dark at times, we definitely have some suspense. But there was also many cute, witty, and romantic moments as well.

The characters MADE this story. The banter was FANTASTIC and the chemistry was 🔥. This story follows Aspen, who definitely has a heartbreaking backstory, and while on the hunt for a place to start over, she settles upon Raven Creek. Where she eventually meets Mister tall, dark and handsome… Rowan Carragan. SIGH…

I loved Rowan. He was truely the hottest, greenest red flag of a cowboy that I’ve read in awhile. I mean, the speed at which this man could go from blushing naïveté to obsessed stalker, was actually hilarious. He’s just protective, okay? A tad unhinged? Sure. Questionable courting methods and morals? Double check. BUT it’s true love, so it’s fine! 😅

Also, I love a good found family, and the Carragan family for sure intrigues me. The sibling dynamics were certainly hilarious and I’m super interested to see whose story is next in this series! I definitely recommend checking this book out! ✌🏻

If you want heavy emotions from the first chapter, @kelseylee.author will definitely do that for you with this one. Aspen's back story is so familiar to so many people around the world, but it's always completely heartbreaking to see.

Rowan isn't necessarily a playboy, but he's not looking for anything serious after having watched heartbreak experienced by his oldest brother & mother. He'd rather just have a good time. Aspen is literally looking for nothing after having escaped a horrendous relationship. Cue seeing each other across a bar & his protective animal coming out when someone puts their hands on her after she says no. He is obsessed and OTT from the get-go with her. Of her 2 stalkers, he may be the more unhinged one...but we love him. 🤣 I do love that Aspen will put him in his place when needed & doesn't just roll over. She has had enough of that in her life and she's not going to do it anymore.

There is so much to enjoy in this story - banter, spice, romance, red flags that are green, etc. I really can't wait to get the next book as it already sounds promising!

Thank you to Kelsey for an ARC on this one!

I loved this book! Rowan? HOT dayum I love how he treated Aspen in this, he fell first and he fell fast and hard while I feel like maintaining boundaries to a certain extent to make sure Aspen was comfortable along the way! But ugh poor Aspen, she went through so much in her young life and he did his best to be patient and kind and love her through it all. She didn’t deserve the beginning she got, and the bonding through trauma (in different ways) 😮‍💨The chemistry between the main characters was 🔥and I loved the banter between the two was 💯! Definitely worth the read!

I liked Aspen from the start, but holy h€ll, Sam (her ex) was a huge piece of 💩 and I'm glad she got away from him. Rowan amused me from the start. He's such a golden retriever of a MMC, yet he is also unhinged af and stalks the FMC. It's called ✨️balance✨️

I also liked all the secondary characters (the Carragan family and Ivy and Ember) and can't wait to see who gets a story next in the Raven Creek world.

• Golden Retriever/Stalker MMC
• Traumatized and Artistic FMC
• Touch Her and 💀
• Found Family
• He Falls First – and fast!

Ooohh how I love a small town romance with tortured pasts and cowboys.

Aspen our FMC is a fierce woman trying to get her life on track and remain under the radar as much as possible. A night out with her bestie ends up with her fake dating the mysterious cowboy from across the room.

Rowan the MMC is the mysterious cowboy whose main priority is his family and the ranch he shares with them. That is until he spots a girl that needs rescuing from across the bar.

A story full of morally grey characters, questionable choices, and a decent that has your heart pumping when it all seems to fail. God this was a good one

Their interactions are filled with playful banter, but beneath the surface lies an undeniable connection that neither can ignore. As Aspen tries not to like him,the lines between pretense and reality begin to blur, leading to moments that are both tender and transformative.

The small-town backdrop adds charm and authenticity, with its close-knit community playing a vital role in their story.
Through challenges and unexpected allies, Aspen and Rowan must confront their fears and find the courage to embrace the possibility of a better future. This is a story where second chances are possible, and the midnight sky serves as a silent witness to their blossoming romance.

For folks looking to scratch an Elsie Silver itch, but also want a dash of darkness? Idc MMC becomes an unhinged, touch her and d!e hero once he meets our resilient, funny, sweet, capable FMC. This is delectable. Mark my words: Kelsey Lee is going places. You’re going to start seeing her name on major romance author lists. Spicy, sweet and satisfying.

⭐ 4/5 Stars

Honestly, this book was a good time. The spice was pretty legit and had me fanning myself more than once, though let’s be real… I definitely wouldn’t have complained if there’d been more. What really stood out was how it didn’t shy away from showing the importance of getting help for trauma and how much that can do for someone’s mental health. I love when a romance can mix the heat with some real emotional growth.

Now let’s talk about the MMC. Is he basically a walking cornucopia of red flags? Oh yeah. Did I care? Not for a second. There’s just something about a character being that possessive that hits in all the right ways. He’s chaotic, he’s intense, and I was absolutely here for it.

Genre: Contemporary Romance with a solid dash of spice
Tropes: Possessive MMC · Emotional Healing · Messy but Hot Love Interest

Overall, I’d definitely recommend this one to anyone who loves their romance a little intense, a little messy, and a lot steamy. It’s the kind of book that pulls you in, gives you all the feels, and leaves you a bit breathless by the end.

I was fully influenced by @nursebooksgalore to read this one, and i'm so glad! I have a feeling I am going to fall in love with all the Carragan boys.

Rowan falls fast and hard for Aspen. He is unhinged for her, and if you read my reviews, I love an unhinged man. (In books only lol) I loved all the soft and sweet things he did for her, which were so foreign to him.
Loved the banter, loved Aspen could be herself, love the spice. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

Book Name/Series: Beneath the Midnight Sky
Author: Kelsey Lee
Standalone?: Can be read as a standalone, but includes characters from other books.

4 Stars

My Opinion: I was very excited when I randomly came across this book because I love a good romance with an obsessed hero and a heroine with a traumatic past, and this one definitely delivered.

Both the main and secondary characters were great, and I loved the found family aspect of this story with Aspen and Ivy, and Aspen and Rowan’s family. I also loved how Rowan’s brothers just accepted and enabled his more unhinged behaviour.

I also thought the storyline was engaging, and I didn’t even mind that it was quite predictable.
There were some errors like “breath” instead of breathe, and “wrung” instead of rung, but it was pretty minor in my opinion.

Overall, it was a great book and I’m excited for the next book in the series.

Hero: 5/5. Rowan (26) worked on his family’s ranch. He becomes obsessed with Aspen almost the second he lays eyes on her and is willing to do anything to woo her. He was such an interesting mix of a cinnamon roll and red flags, and I loved it. He was patient and understanding of Aspens struggles, but he also didn’t let her push him away or stew in her own negative thought for too long. He also supported and took care of her, but he did some questionable things like implanting a tracker in her and trying to force her hand when it came to getting her to move in with him. He was also incredibly romantic and caring, and he loved her just as she was, but when it came to protecting her there wasn’t a line he wasn’t willing to cross. Basically, he was swoon-worthy perfection in my opinion.
Heroine: 4/5. Aspen (23) had left her abusive ex-boyfriend and had landed in Raven Creek, but she was still terrified he would find her somehow. She had gotten a job working in a local restaurant, but she was also an artist. She had moments where she was incredibly shy and insecure, but also moments where, once she realised that she could trust and was safe with Rowan, her sass and fiery spirit came through. We got to see how she developed throughout the story and how she comes out of her shell for Rowan. I did sometimes feel like her personality wasn’t consistent enough though.

POV: 1st person POV (Aspen, Rowan and one chapter from Aspens abusive ex).

Push/Pull:

Sadness: 2/5.

Explicit Sex and Spice Level: Yes. 3/5.

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) Drama: Not really.

Separation:

Cheating: No.

Closure/Ending: HEA.

Beneath The Midnight Sky by Kelsey Lee Review

✨: 4.5/5
🌶️: 4.5/5

Main characters: Aspen (Little Angel) & Rowan (Cowboy)
Side characters: Ember, Ivy, Carragan brothers

A girls night out, a drunk handsy guy, and a tall broody cowboy that saves the day.

Aspen didn’t have an easy childhood, nor did she have a good start on adulthood. But when she decides to move from her home town to better herself, she doesn’t think anything of it when she called the tall broody cowboy, her boyfriend when saved her from the too friendly drunken guy. Little did Aspen know that the second she called the tall broody cowboy her ‘boyfriend’, Rowan, would want nothing more than to actually be with her.

I overall LOVED Beneath The Midnight Sky. The plot was good, the spice was AMAZING, the characters were adorable, and the whole book was down right amazing! I only took off 1/2 of a star because the plot was predictable. I felt every emotion for Aspen. Every time Rowan did something I imagined the guy running with the green flag.

Okay.. i freaking ADORED THIS BOOK.

Being in Kelsey’s Street Team, i was sent a copy of this early and BOY DID IT DELIVER🔥🤌🏻 Kelsey has been posting so many amazing teasers leading up to the release of this book i was SO EXCITED to finally get my hands on it😍🙌🏻

Kelsey yet again wrote such a beautiful deep and meaningful book whilst bringing the cowboy daddy and spice in PERFECT measures😍🔥🥰

The world building in the beginning was brilliant to see how Aspen & Rowan lived their separate lives before meeting each other. (Albeit a traumatic one for Aspen) it was still great to see their personalities and their current situation in life before then being able to witness the night when they met & the Dual POV of it just made it that more incredible😍🔥

I was honestly in a bit of a reading slump before i started this and i adored every page of this book and devoured it in 2 days and i miss Rowan & Aspen already🥲😍🥰

There was such an emotional depth to this book though that i discussed with Kelsey as i read through it, because it brings such raw emotion to the progression of Aspen & Rowan’s relationship throughout the book and being a person that deeply understands Aspen’s Trauma & the way it effects her and her choices throughout the story. But along with that, despite Rowan being the sexiest obsessive stalking Cowboy MMC, he did absolutely everything in his power to understand Aspen and what he can work on to help her and how he can win her over once he was hooked🥹 (some of it a little more morally questionable🤣 obsession can do that to a man😏 but his heart was fully in the right place and i ADORE him for that)

And then to see their bond flourish along with Aspen finding her own two feet along the way and becoming stronger, cared for and her personality growing. Of course theres always some d*ck that wants to ruin it🙄 and i know plenty of Sam’s in this world unfortunately. But the way the whole plot progressed was VERY well thought out and written beautifully by Kelsey🙌🏻🥹

And can we please quickly just take a moment to clap for all of the supporting characters in this book 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 BECAUSE I ADORE EVERY SINGLE DAMN ONE OF THEM. From Ivy being the most wonderful wild best friend, to the rest of the Carragan’s: Theo, Wyatt, Oliver, Payton, Abby- Even Ember and other supporting characters they were just ALL so amazing and really brought the story together🥹 i can’t freaking WAIT to continue the Raven Creek Series and what lies ahead!

I had SO MANY EMOTIONS from reading this book, a little heartbreak, grief, all the absolute heartwarming moments, the anger (towards a certain someone👀😒🤣) AND THE ABSOLUTE HEART MELT WHEN ROWAN WAS A GOLDEN RETRIEVER COWBOY WHILST FALLING HEAD FIRST ASPEN🥲🥲🥲 ALL of these feelings were absolutely beautiful and there was just such a depth into this story that i REALLY hope others will read, relate, understand & adore everything Kelsey covered in this book🥹🥰

THE SPICE DAYMNNN GIRL🔥🔥 Those moments throughout the book were HOTTTTT to say the least😏 and just like Ivy says i need me one of these cowboys with a s*x dungeon please👀😏🤣

I FELL FOR ROWAN AND ASPEN SO HARD AND I CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT RAVEN CREEK BOOK I NEED IT ASAP THANKS I ADORE YOU KELSEY YOU QUEEN💜💜💜

P.S. — I really do adore Authors that can write Trauma Healing so beautifully. A lot of it is from personal experience and as heartbreaking as that is, it brings out the most raw emotions throughout books like this and for all the people out there who have also experienced this throughout life it is a call to the trauma deep in the readers hearts, and when it is written so amazingly like Kelsey has in this book, for me instead of it being triggers it actually gives me hope. (Yes i know these are fictional books don’t come at me) but it is genuinely beautiful and i commend every Author that uses their Trauma to bring us such gorgeous stories and write it so delicately and is an advocate for trauma healing that reached out to our souls in these books👏🏻💜💜

From the very first chapter, this book had me hooked and my heart in pieces 💔. Kelsey Lee did not hold back with the emotions—Aspen’s backstory was gut-wrenching and so real that it made me pause more than once. Watching her escape the darkness of her past and take the brave step of starting over in Raven Creek had me rooting for her from the beginning 🌌.

And then came Rowan. Oh. My. Word. 🤯 This golden-retriever-turned-obsessive-cowboy completely stole my heart. Their first meeting at the bar—when Aspen pretended he was her boyfriend and he instantly went protective—was electric ⚡. From that very moment, Rowan was all in, and while some might call him unhinged… I call him PERFECT 😍. His mix of obsession, possessiveness, and genuine care was chef’s kiss.

This story gave me everything: banter that made me laugh 😂, emotional rawness that had me crying 😭, spicy tension that left me fanning myself 🔥, and found family moments that warmed my heart 💕. The dual POV made their connection even more powerful—I loved seeing Rowan fall headfirst while Aspen found her strength again.

🌟 Tropes you’ll devour in this book 🌟
🔒 Forced Proximity
🐎 Cowboy MMC with a dark edge
🛑 Touch Her and Die energy
👀 Stalking (morally gray but SO addictive)
🫂 Found Family
💔 Healing from Trauma
💘 Possessive/Obsessive MMC
🔥 BDSM spice (yes, Rowan took classes)

The supporting cast? ICONIC 🙌. From Ivy’s wild best-friend energy to Rowan’s family—Theo, Wyatt, Oliver, Payton, Abby—they each added so much heart and life to Raven Creek. Honestly, I fell in love with this family just as much as I did with Aspen and Rowan. 🏡

The plot had the perfect balance: Aspen trying to heal and carve out a new life, Rowan battling his own fears of heartbreak while tumbling into obsession, and of course, the lurking danger of Aspen’s past with people who wouldn’t leave her alone 👤. The tension between safety, healing, and desire was so raw and beautifully handled.

And can we talk about the spice?! 🌶️🔥 DAYUM, Kelsey. Those scenes were hotttt in the best possible way. Let’s just say Rowan and his cowboy charm + dungeon = scenes I will not be forgetting anytime soon.

I devoured this in two days and was left with the biggest book hangover 🤯. I laughed, cried, swooned, screamed at certain characters (looking at you, Sam 👿), and hugged the book when Rowan showed his soft side 🐶. The emotional depth, the healing journey, and the obsessive romance all blended perfectly.

If you’re a fan of emotionally heavy romances with dark edges, spice, and found family vibes, this is the book for you. 💫

Thank you so much to Kelsey Lee and RR Book Tours for the ARC opportunity 💖. Kelsey, you’ve outdone yourself again—you gave me a book to obsess over and a cowboy MMC I’ll never stop thinking about. 🐎✨

Alright, I think I found a cowboy series I’ll be following closely! Beneath the Midnight Sky by Kelsey Lee is a dark cowboy romance with a clever twist on the “he falls first-and falls HARD” trope. At its heart, it’s the story of a young woman running from a very dangerous past, only to land right in the arms of a man who fully intends to keep her… forever 🤭🤭🤭 And the wild part? She doesn’t exactly hate it.

This book was such an easy, fun read for me - even though it’s not my usual go-to (I usually reach for stories filled with deep yearning, that slow-burn intensity, and the kind of dark romance or fantasy that lingers and leaves me shattered). To my surprise, I actually really enjoyed this one and flew through it - and yes, I even found myself laughing out loud more than once.

The story dips a bit into dark and suspenseful territory, but it balances that with witty banter, sweet romantic beats, and plenty of steamy moments (yes, there’s a phone scene and yes, it was hooooot 🔥).

The characters are what truly made this story shine. Aspen, with her heartbreaking backstory and search for a fresh start, stumbles into Raven Creek - where she meets Mr. tall, dark and dangerous himself… Rowan Carragan. And oh, Rowan. He might just be the hottest, greenest red flag of a cowboy I’ve read in a long while. The way he whiplashes from bashful innocence to full-on obsessed protector is both hilarious and addictive. Is he unhinged? A little. Are his morals and courting methods questionable? Absolutely. But is it true love? Well… let’s just say, I was sold 😅

What really warmed my heart, though, was the found family vibe. The Carragan clan had me smiling constantly - the sibling dynamics, the fierce love for their parents and that unwavering loyalty to one another. It’s the kind of family that makes you want to pull up a chair at their table.

And while I usually gravitate toward darker, heavier books that leave me gutted, this one delivered exactly what it promised - and I enjoyed every page. Bonus points: I loved that each chapter had a title. Those little details always matter.

Aspen brought awareness to domestic violence and the trauma that comes along with it. There were times that Aspen was worried about how Rowan would react to certain things that in her previous relationship she wasn’t able to do or say for fear of the mental and physician abuse. We got to see how Aspen was able to grow and heal and become herself instead of what she was being molded into. She had a bit of insecurity at times but she didn’t throw a pity party.

Rowan, Rowan, Rowan.

For being someone that wasn’t into relationships and commitment, Rowan sure didn’t show it. I felt like he met Aspen once and was obsessed and ready for marriage. It just felt a little too fast. There really was no slow burn or angst.

I liked the stalker aspect of it though. Normally we see a stalker preying on someone they just met and didn’t know. This felt different. Even though they had just met, he stalked her while courting her which is different than I have seen in other books I’ve read.

Then there were the nicknames…they were used too much for my liking. “Little Angel” and “Cowboy” were used so much it started to feel a little cringey and at that point lost the meaning for me.

Finally, the friends and family. Ivy is the best friend I wish I had. She is there for Aspen through everything. She is the ultimate hype girl and I love it. I’m crossing my fingers we get to see Ivy find her happily ever after. 🤞

The Carragan family just seems like the fun and supportive family that anyone would want to marry into.
Oliver: The serious big brother and single father.
Theo: The usual funny guy little brother.
Wyatt: The smart tech twin.
Payton: The only sister that works as a nurse.

Overall, I did really enjoy this book. I went in somewhat blind and wasn’t sure what to expect. It felt different than other books that I’v read and I liked the storyline and the fact that it was based in Colorado. 🌄 I’m excited to see what comes next in the series. Thank you for this ARC!

Thank you Kelsey Lee for an advanced copy of this book!!

ROWAN 😍😍 (literally giggling kicking my feet most of the book) THIS MAN!!!! He is so freaking adorable and hot and unhinged and possessive 😂😂 normally MMCs with tattoos and muscles and height who ride motorcycles are broody and grrrr, but him!!! He’s funny and light hearted and he dances without complaint! He’s a sneak attack psycho 😂 you wouldn’t guess it cuz he doesn’t seem the type but he’s a stalker af, you’d never guess it’s his first time stalking 🤷🏽‍♀️

Aspen ❤️ she is a strong and resilient FMC, she goes through a lot both physically and emotionally in this book and I LOVE her relationship with Ivy ❤️❤️❤️ the meaningful connection they share is so amazing! I can’t wait for her to kick Todd to the curb for good 🙄 (Kelsey please give her a Carragan brother 🥹)

Tbh reading the family dynamic and how they all live near each other on a compound ish type land reminded me of Bourbon and Lies! Also with the whole protecting her from her actual dangerous stalker too. And I loved that book just how I loved this book!

The spice!! Starts early, fast burn 🔥🌶️ and the scenes vary on location and sometimes the funtivities 😌 some lite bondage (he learned for her 🤭) and big on the aftercare!! It’s pretty consistent throughout the book so if you love high spice this is the book for you!

I am giving this one a little baby dark intro rating just because of the stalking from the MMC and how he hides certain things from Aspen, but it’s a good intro to dark romance since it has the same themes you’d see in darker books, it’s just more light hearted in this one!

❤️❤️❤️❤️.5 (I did 5⭐️ cuz I rounded up)

4.75 rounding up!

Thank you Kelsey Lee for the ARC!

Okay I loved this!!! It's a dark cowboy suspense romance! Idky it took me so long to realize it was also suspense (which I LOVEEEE!!)

This was such a good read! Firstly it's sorta like "insta love" fast paced with the love between mc especially with the mmc once they meet (of course he's stalker/obsessive lol). But look he is so golden retriever stalker sweetheart and I love Rowan 🥵🤭🖤

I love the found family in this too omg! I am super excited to continue this series and get stories from the other characters 🤭

Yall there was parts towards the last like 15% that I was like 😯🫢🤯 SHOOK! Yall so much I was like woah didn't see that coming and here for it!! 👏🏻 Of course this is dark romance so it shouldn't be shocking I think I'm just rusty on my dark romance readings hahah

Anyways, I loved this book! I loved the characters, the found family, growth, relationships, small town, the SPICE 🤭🥵 (yes please)!

I definitely recommend this book if you like all those things!! Rowan is such a good caring book bf 🥹🖤
________________________________________

I was also 😤🤬 towards the last 25% at one person's pov chapter (iykyk lol) I literally stayed up later to read one more chapter because I was NOT sleeping left off on his pov 🤢

At the beginning I would have liked one more encounter between them before but like idc that much 😂

First of all, thank you, Kelsey, for this amazing ARC! I’ve read both of her books now, and I am officially obsessed—with every MMC, every FMC, and honestly just every single character she writes.

This book was incredible from start to finish, and I didn’t want it to end. Aspen is such a sweet, strong-as-hell heroine who’s been through the worst—thanks to her toxic parents and a crazy ex. When she finally leaves him behind to start fresh, in walks Rowan… and let me tell you, that man becomes obsessed with her almost instantly. And I loved every single second of it.

Rowan is sweet, a little stalkerish (okay, straight-up stalking her), caring, and absolutely swoon-worthy. I adored his family too—their dynamic, their love, and how real their bond felt.

Aspen and Rowan together? Just so damn cute. He helps her learn to trust again, and since they’re both new to relationships, they naturally have some ups and downs—but that only makes their story feel more believable. The pacing is perfect, the writing is spot-on, and the emotions are raw and heartfelt.

Oh, and the nicknames? I freaking adored them!

Overall, this was an amazing read, and I’m already counting down the days until Ember’s book!

Talk about unhinged! Talk about a stalker! You have to read this book. Rowan Carragan is one for the stars! He falls first and falls hard! And what he doesn’t have in patience, he more than makes up charm and dedication. He's the real cat's meow! He goes after Aspen with a vengeance. He's an OTT cinnamon roll for only her and morally grey all night long.

Aspen has been through it: maternal abandonment, death of her father, bouncing around in foster homes, DV. She ran away, only to find herself in a new city, starting over. She has her job, her best friend Ivy, and her art. What more could ya girl need? How about a sexy, unhinged cowboy who worships the ground she walks on?

I loved this book. The way Rowan went after Aspen was a thing of beautiful magic. Did he make mistakes? Yes. Did he mean well? Again, yes. Did he make up for all his flaws? Hmmm, yes!

The side characters were all awesome, and the tension was on point. I loved the found family! The spicy bits were beyond spicy. I loved Apsen's strength and growth throughout the book. She survived much more than anyone should ever have to. And I love how she found a safe place in Rowan.

If you love a good stalker romance, then this book is definitely for you.

*ARC*

I could not put this book down. Now dark cowboy romances are not my normal genre of reading but I love the author so I thought, why not? I'm so glad I did!!! Rowan is EVERYTHING! Now is he 100% legal in everything he does ....no. Is he respectful, loyal, loving, and adorable to Aspen? 1000% yes!!!! Totally makes up for the questionable methods of showing his devotion.

The spice was spicing, the family dynamic with Rowan and his family was so adorable, and I just love the growth in trust and love Rowan and Aspen have for each other. Aspen had a rough upbringing and trauma that she ends up running away from and I love how Kelsey addresses it. It's not pushed under the rug, it's not sidelined. Aspen begins to take charge of her decisions and choices where previously she would have been too scared to and that says a lot about her strength and just the support system she has.

While the relationship between Aspen and Rowan is sizzling and spicy; I love the relationship between the brothers as well, and the little hints of whose love story is coming up next. I cannot wait to read more in this series!!

🌶🌶 - Spice Level

Rowan and Aspen meet at the local bar in Raven Creek. She's been on the run from an ex-boyfriend and setting into this small Colorado town. Rowan is a local cowboy helping run his family's cattle operation with some of his many siblings. This tatted cowboy noticed Aspen stood out among the usual cowboy/cowgirl crowd, and he was becoming smitten quick enough that he stalks her a bit to get her to be his.

Aspen has been settling in, but her past has taught her to be guarded. She does get comfortable around this sweet, golden retriever cowboy. The lengths he's gone to be her protector were for the best, even if it's a little manipulation for her safety. A little somno, a little stalking, handnecklaces, and some spice works nicely in this story. Also, throw in a little haircare with hair washing/hair braiding with his k1nks.

I really did like the Carragan family group texts. They were all the best to step up as support with jokes and favors, too. I can't wait to see the other siblings fall.

Kelsey…I’m in your walls I need more

Guzzled it right up. I loved how Rowan was gone for Aspen from jump. He did try...a little, to tame it and be less intense, but he just couldn't hold back how much he felt for her. He wanted to give her the world and Aspen was scared to reach for it because her past had burnt her once too many times. She deserved it all and thank goodness Rowan was there to make sure she allowed herself to live instead of survive.

I truly enjoyed that Aspen didn't glaze over the over the top things, even if as the reader I loved them, when you put yourself in her boots, you can understand that having Rowan act like that can mean two things, either he's perfect and just obsessed with Aspen in a good way, or, and this is why Aspen's past comes into play, he could be an obessive possessive man that won't let her grow. And her experience made her doubt things. But thankfully, she gave in to things and found a loving family that opened their arms to her the second they heard Rowan say her name.

Kelsey made the romance bloom so well. I loved the balance of want and need with wariness and fear of the unknown, portrayed in both characters, even if Rowan got over his shock fast and decided his future was Aspen in any way he could have her. And the little throwaway comments in which Kelsey made sure we knew the depth of Rowan’s obsession were my favorite thing ever. Like a casual “the ring I'd spent our entire relationship holding onto”…mf what? You are down bad, and I love it.

Also, Aspen’s mom…yeah, no, fuck that I hold grudges older than even myself so fuuuuuck no!

Thank you a thousand times for this e-arc. I'm beyond proud of you, Kelsey, and I truly believe you'll do great things.

Quotes:

Everything about her screamed, 'I'd look great
on my knees begging for you' and fuck me, did I want to enjoy that view.

Kissing Rowan was unlike anything I'd ever experienced.

Fuck I needed to breathe before I tied her to the bed and didn't let her leave.

I slowly pulled her underwear off, making sure to throw them with my jeans instead of her pile of clothes. She wouldn't be getting those back.

I'd be her thorough stalker forever, as long as she'd
have me, and even if she wouldn't.

🎨🖤Book Review🖤🎨

THIS.BOOK! Yes! This book surprised me in the BEST WAY!!! I did not read the Tropes going in and I think I need to jump into books like this every so often!

This Dark Cowboy romance is PERFECTION! I didn’t know I needed an obsessed cowboy (Rowan) who NEVER does relationships or dating but suddenly is completely unhinged in the BEST way for “his future wife” Aspen!!

The way this man is obsessed with her, and slips in the way he has been falling for her while they are intimate or the way he watches her… oh and that he’s so down bad that he’s stalking her and just wants to all around take care of his girl (even tho she isn’t his yet).

Aspen the slightly broken FMC that didn’t believe she deserved happiness that she was only capable of of loneliness and self doubt tried to fight off her attraction and the longing that she had for Rowan, who snuck into her heart before she even realized what was happening!

I LOVED this story a the MCs and I can’t wait for what’s next characters come next!

Tropes:
🎨FMC on the run for abusive Ex
🖤Rancher Cowboy MMC
🎨He Falls First
🖤Stalker MMC (in the best way)
🎨Touch Her and Die (Literally)
🖤No Third Act Break-Up

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I am freaking obsessed with obsession and with Rowan Carragan. Can we say hello protective cowboy daddy!!!

@kelseylee.author has written a fantastic book which deals with trauma healing beautifully!

There were so many parts that I messaged Kelsey about. This book had me going through the emotional wringer and I would do it all over again for our girl Aspen to heal!

Watching both Aspen and Rowan heal apart and together was so good! The character building was really deep and I could feel myself being drawn into their worlds with every page.

Can we also take a second to appreciate all the family and friends on this book too! Talk about a supportive found family network!

The spice was spicing and chemistry was sparkling from day 1 and I'm all here for that too!

If you love a possessively protective burn the world down for my princess MMC - READ THIS.

If you love a passionate, curvy, healing and creative FMC - READ THIS.

Just read this!!!

@kelseylee.author I am completely in love with this and cannot wait for the next Raven Creek book!!!!

First I want to thank Kelsey Lee for the arc copy of this amazing book and giving me the opportunity to read it.

ROWAN CARRAGAN!!!!!! 🥵

This book follows Aspen who is new to the small town of Raven Creek in Colorado. She has just left her life of hell in Las Vegas and is looking for a fresh and safe start. Insert Rowan who she meets at a bar and introduces him as her fake boyfriend everything changes. Rowan falls head over heels the moment he sees Aspen at the bar with her best friend Ivy, but with everything Aspen has been through she is nervous about falling for the cowboy. He slowly gains her trust, but he is unhinged in the best types of ways! This book has great plot, spice and suspense.
I could not put this book down. Definitely in my top 5 books of 2025!!!
Tropes:
- possessive and obsessive MMC
- he takes a 🐝dsm class for her!
- forced proximity

Rowan and Aspen. This is a strangers to lovers, he saves her, DV survivor and runaway, OTT MMC, stalker, found family, innocent FMC, dark cowboy romance.
Growing up was more than just a challenge for Aspen. With her mom abandoning her at three and her father resorting to alcohol as his crutch, Aspen had to rely on herself and never experienced real love. After her father died in her late teens, Aspen finds herself more or less forced into an abusive relationship. After years of oppression and abuse she flees her abusive boyfriend from Las Vegas to Colorado. She meets her new best friend Ivy and feels finally safe in a new place she calls home. One a fate filled night she meets Towan and everything changes…
Rowan. Oh man. Rowan. He is the oppitimy of the brightest greenest red flag you’ll ever read. Is he over the top? Yes. Does he stalk her and is completely obsessed with her. Double yes. Does he love her and will stop at nothing to keep her safe and protected? He sure does.
This was such a great read. I absolutely loved every minute of it.

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I’m not sure cowboy romance is necessarily for me, and that definitely shaped my reading experience. The ranch work and rodeo elements just never landed, and the writing style itself felt a little stilted and choppy.

But when this leaned into dark romance, it really hooked me. Aspen’s backstory was compelling, her friendship with Ivy was a highlight, and the entire plotline with her dangerous ex-boyfriend added real tension. Rowan and Aspen’s chemistry also worked. I loved the he-falls-first energy, the “touch her and die” moments, and the unapologetically hot spice scenes.

Rowan did make some odd choices (implanting a tracker, overreaching in ways that could’ve been handled differently), which kept me from fully buying into his character. Still, the darker, more suspenseful parts of the story pulled me in enough to land at 3 stars overall. It ended as an uneven mix of cowboy romance that wasn’t quite my taste and dark romance beats that absolutely delivered.

✨ 4.5 Stars ✨

Beneath the Midnight Sky is a dark cowboy romance that had me hooked from the very beginning. Aspen is a woman running from her past, trying to find peace in Raven Creek, Colorado. What she doesn’t expect is Rowan—a protective, possessive cowboy who steps into her life when she needs it most.

The chemistry between Aspen and Rowan is electric, raw, and at times unsettling in the best way. I loved watching Aspen’s growth as she slowly found her strength again, and Rowan’s fierce devotion made for an addictive dynamic. This isn’t a light romance—there are heavy themes like trauma, obsession, and morally grey choices—but that’s exactly what makes it so compelling.

Kelsey Lee perfectly balances the darkness with moments of tenderness, creating a story that feels both haunting and hopeful. I couldn’t put it down, and when I did, I found myself still thinking about Aspen and Rowan long after.

If you love dark, emotional romances with obsessive MMCs and resilient heroines, this one absolutely deserves a spot on your TBR.

We’ve got cowboys…they’re unhinged, chaotic, morally grey, and OBSESSED. Honestly, there isn’t anything better than that combination. Prove me wrong, I’ll wait!

Y’all, Rowan is a total angel! I freaking loved him. He is seriously psychotic but he means well and that makes it all ok. It comes from a place of love and that’s all that matters. Aspen is on the run from her abusive ex and finds refuge in the adorable Colorado town, Raven Creek. She tries to lay low and stay unnoticed but sweetie pie Rowan definitely isn’t letting her get away. First of all, I loved the way he was so down bad for her but also encouraged her to heal from her past. He gave her so much room to grow and her strength was unmatched. Second of all, I love the relationship between her and her bff, Ivy. That added such a warm and cuddly vibe to the darkness that Aspen was surrounded by. Even though, Ivy was the one encouraging Rowan’s behavior because she’s obsessed with dark romance. I mean, same so I can’t blame her. 🖤🖤
