DEAD BUT NOT GONE
A vampire escort. A mortal man with too many questions. And one secret that could shatter her world.

I used to have a life. A heart. A name that meant something.
Then I died.
Now, I’m Odette—undead and untouchable, your favorite bloodthirsty escort built for sin. I live (or unlive) for pleasure and freedom, feeding my hunger and disappearing before dawn. No strings. No second chances. No love. That part of me died centuries ago.

But Luther isn’t like the others.
He came for a night. He stayed for the mystery. And now he won’t stop digging. Into my past. Into my secrets. Into the life I’ve kept buried for far too long.

There’s something dangerous growing between us.
He thinks I’m worth saving.
I think he doesn’t know what kind of monster he’s fallen for.

Because the truth about who—or what—I am could burn us both to ash.

Undead Escort and Assassin

Odette is a no nonsense vamp who is an escort and loves what she does. She gets the Os and a meal they pay her for. Until she meets Luther. He should be just another client but he isn't happy with just one night or passion.

When Luther becomes obsessed with Odette he becomes a human stalking a vampire. He isn't afraid of anything she could throw at him....including being a vampire.

This was an interesting story that was not quite what I expected. I love Luther's devotion and ability to take everything with a grain of salt. He knows what he wants and doesn't care what strings are attached.

This book was really good. I feel like Cassie gave us a Vampire story with Dark Romance mixed with Feminine Rage and of course what fun would we have without a bit of stalking?

Odette had the unimaginable happen all because she told a man no. She gets her revenge from no other than the female devil though. She meets Luther through her job and gets a little more than the tip she hoped for.

I recommend this book for sure!

This book was good. Normally vampire stories are not my usual genre but I love this one. The beginning was sad but it made sense for why Odette does what she does. And I love Luther for her.

This book had me invested from the first page. Poor Odette went through so much, but came out of it stronger than most would. I’m so happy she got the revenge that she deserved. Luther was crazy in the best way… talk about matching each other’s freak. The twist towards the end was so bittersweet, but a perfect wrap up to a compelling story. Need an epilogue or something to see how things have progressed after all the changes they experienced towards the end… please and thank you 🫶🏻

The Demon, Her Stalker, and Their Demon Spawn

From the moment I delved into "Suck, Marry, Kill," Cassie Lein intricately weaves together a spellbinding tapestry of revenge, romance, and the supernatural that leaves readers utterly captivated. Beginning against the haunting backdrop of the 1800s, and continuing in the present, the story of Odette—a tormented mother turned vengeful spirit—unfolds with emotional depth and complexity that is hard to come by in the genre.

Odette's tragic journey begins with her heartbreaking loss, but rather than succumbing to despair, she seizes a powerful opportunity for revenge by striking a deal with the Devil, Tempest. Cassie Lein paints Odette not just as a victim of circumstance, but as a fierce being determined to reclaim her life. Her transformation into a personal avenger is not only compelling but also thought-provoking, forcing readers to grapple with themes of grief, justice, and the fine line between vengeance and morality.

The introduction of Luther adds a tantalizing twist to the narrative. Initially a client seeking Odette's services for a night, his character evolves as he obsessively pursues her with a devotion that blurs the lines between love and obsession. Cassie masterfully captures the tension of their relationship as Luther becomes more entangled in Odette’s life, compelling readers to question what it means to truly love someone—even when dark forces are at play.

The chemistry between Odette and Luther crackles, providing an intoxicating mix of passion and peril. Their interactions are rife with intensity, underscored by an ever-present tension that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. Just when you think you’ve grasped the nature of their relationship, Lein throws in unexpected twists that leave you breathless.

As the plot unfolds, Tempest's role as the devilish orchestrator adds another layer of intrigue, particularly with the 'Gift' that she bestows upon Odette and Luther. This gift brings with it immense challenges and consequences that shake the foundation of their budding romance. Lein’s writing shines when exploring the nuances of this supernatural element, delving into how power can corrupt, and how love can persevere even in the most unorthodox of circumstances.

Cassie Lein’s "Suck, Marry, Kill" is a delightful rollercoaster of emotions that expertly blends romance with a touch of horror. The rich prose, vivid imagery, and expertly crafted characters make this novel an unforgettable read. Whether you’re a fan of vampire romances or simply crave a compelling story with a dash of dark fantasy, this book should be at the top of your must-read list.

Overall, "Suck, Marry, Kill" is a triumph that redefines the vampire genre, offering readers a unique perspective that challenges traditional narratives. Don’t miss out—grab a copy and prepare for a literary experience that lingers long after the last page is turned!

What do you get when you have a vampire assassin that earns money by being an escort and a “client” that has super obsessive, stalker tendencies? An amazing story, that’s what. I love vampire folklore and have read so many stories involving vampires. But I have never thought about a vampire supporting herself by being an escort. It makes complete sense. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was short, spicy, and so different from anything that I had ever read before. The characters were unique and frankly, neither of them were all that good. But you wanted the best for both of them. This book read pretty fast and wasn’t a story that was too deep. The beginning gave you the feels and there were definitely some major triggers in this book. But if you like dark romances that don’t pull you in too deep but rather spends a good amount of time with two characters that have very small moral compasses. This was a dark, enjoyable story that can be read in a day.

Odette’s life was cut short by fragile men that were in power. But she was given an opportunity by the queen of Hell. And that’s how we get to the present time where she is a bada*ss assassin for the queen of Hell and makes money by being a high end escort. Luther is a wealthy man that typically hires an escort once a month with his friend because it is easier than dating when he deals with a strong obsessive personality. But when his friend has to skip out, Luther gets the break of a lifetime and gets Odette all to himself. These two have amazing chemistry and Odette’s darkness only pulls Luther in.

I have learned that you have to expect the unexpected when you are reading one of Lein’s stories. And this one is no exception. It is super spicy and with the amazing chemistry between the two main characters, this book will leave you fanning yourself. It is short, so it doesn’t take too long to read and it is so enjoyable. It is a simple, dark, story about two people that won’t let anyone take them apart.

Suck Marry Kill (love the name!) showcases Cassie Lein's usual flair for writing books with danger, intrigue, murder, romance, and violence, not to mention interesting characters with dark pasts and sometimes shocking behaviors you find yourself rooting for anyway. In this case, Odette, a beautiful centuries-old vampire who spends most of her time as an undead escort and the rest of it taking revenge on those who have wronged her, and Luther, a charming and handsome but intense human with stalking tendencies who becomes obsessed with her after a passionate would-be one-night stand, find a way to create an unusual life together.

Being neither a vampire nor a stalker (shocking, I know), I must admit that I don't find these characters all that relatable, but their actions, emotions, desires, and motives are realistic and understandable, and while reading their story, I found myself increasingly wanting an HEA for them even when it seemed all but impossible. Even vampires deserve happiness, am I right?

On another note, I love vampire romances and have read more than I can count, but this one feels refreshing because it's so simple; it doesn't go into vampire lore or pretend that the reader has no idea how vampires work. Luther (perhaps because he's a little unhinged) is as accepting of Odette's nature as I am, and I appreciate his devotion to her and general lack of fear despite her abnormal (for humans) and often bloody hobbies.

Overall, Suck Marry Kill is a fun and refreshing dark romance with heart, heat, and humor that is sure to thrill readers who love vampire novels and revenge plots.

Odette rejects the wrong person and loses everything. Given a second chance with an immortal life, she gets her revenge and spends her free time as a high-priced lady of the night. Her latest client is tenacious, and Luther finds himself desperate to know everything there is about the woman who was gone before morning. Little does he know there's a lot more to Odette than he can imagine.

Spicy vampire e$c0rt and human stªlk3r romance? I couldn't read it fast enough. Odette has been given a second chance but is still haunted by her past. Luther is determined to give her a future... with him. These two start off with a spicy connection, then Luther follows her around and breaks into her apartment before she gives him the rundown. I love how he was so ready to be her protector, but she ends up being his instead. Although they end up on equal footing, that rollercoaster took the story in so many loops and turns, I was on my toes with every new page. Plus, that spice was delicious. He really watched her with a client and said, "I can do better" 🥵. The ending felt a bit abrupt, so I wouldn't mind seeing these two lovers make a surprise appearance in another story in the author's world.

A stalker walks into a hotel and meets a vampire...

Odette has had her entire life ripped away from her all because she said no. Her life doesn't end there though. She gets reborn to exact her revenge and live what she has lost. She never expected to find anyone like Luther.

Luther has a problem, so paying for a single night with a woman is the perfect solution for him. He never expected to meet someone like Odette. Unfortunatly for him, he doesn't know what he is signing himself up for when he lets his obsession take over.

I loved the chemistry between Luther and Odette. There is something about the two of them outside of their chemistry that makes my heart melt. Odette has lost so much in her life in her past and until Luther, she seems to be just existing. Sure she is out there doing what she would like to do, but it isn't until Luther that she really begins to live, at least as much as she can as a vampire. I love how she gave Luther a chance and I love the twist that happens between them. My only complaint is that I wish this was longer. I would have loved to have seen more of their life together but am happy knowing that they get to live their HEA, especially given Odette gets another chance at things she lost.

Thrilling! Wow… This book was so unexpected! Take everything you think you know about vampires and get ready for a new introduction to them. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The world that the author created was so unique and different and I loved every moment of it. This read was refreshing, exhilarating and filled with twists and turns. Odette has an extremely heartbreaking past that will bring you to tears, it did for me… Out of the ashes of her past, she's carved a new beginning for herself with the least unexpected partner… Luther. Luther holds a different kind of darkness that speaks to Odette, and she can't seem to let him go. "There’s something about the way he looks at me, like I’m both salvation and ruin, like he’d willingly walk through hell if it meant staying by my side." The love that Luther gives to Odette is unrelenting and beautiful in twisted madness. This book was very spicy, it was hilarious at times, and I love that these two found one another in all of that darkness. The HEA was so unexpected in the best of ways! You really can't ask for a better ending as a reader. I'd love a sequel to this book. it would be really interesting. Amazing read! 😍

I really liked Odette and Luther's relationship; I quite enjoyed how this wasn't an opposites attract grumpy/sunshine or black cat/golden retriever romance. They are both strong alpha type characters with Luther's obsessive tendencies and Odette not doing feelings. Luther soon manages to chip away at Odette's armour though in this fast burn spicy vampire romance but she makes him work for it.

After that pretty brutal opening, this book didn't dwell on Odette's revenge for too long which surprised me. This felt more character led as although there are a couple of action points, the relationship between Luther and Odette is the main focus. The side characters we do meet drop some interesting breadcrumbs so I'm hoping we'll get to see them in future books. Tempest sounds like a total boss but I think someone needs to check in on Olympia!

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

I was a little worried that this book was following the same exact formula that other vampire romances do, but was pleasantly surprised that it went down a different path.

It was similar and still used the same tropes, but I like vampire romances.

What did disappoint me about this book was the repetitiveness of it. I felt like instead of saying what was going on, we would gloss over by using the same phrases again and again. The fact they would go through things together and deal with and handle things together was repeated several times towards the end.

I felt like we were being told about the fact this would happen, rather than experiencing it with the characters. And after hearing it the first time, we believed that neither of the characters was going to leave once the final plot two plot twists were revealed, yet it was reiterated that they wouldn't be going anywhere and would figure things out together. But I kinda assumed this as they had already been through some stuff together.

I did love the dynamics of the relationship in this though. Also I love a good stalker romance, so that had me from the very beginning.

I’ve always been a sucker for a good vampire read, especially since it’s what pulled me out of a reading slump years ago. I’ve explored a lot of different vampire storylines, but never one where the vampire is also an escort—needless to say, that immediately piqued my interest and kept me hooked from the start.

Odette is such a fantastic FMC. I love how she’s an assassin who also works as an escort—definitely not your typical trope, and it was so refreshing to see that combination. She’s fierce, complex, and downright captivating.

Then there’s Luther, the MMC—wealthy, powerful, and used to hiring an escort once a month. But when his friend bails out, it’s Odette who’s left to entertain him, and let’s just say, things quickly spiral from there. Luther becomes obsessed with Odette, stalking her and showing no fear of her dangerous, dark nature.

This book was short, but so gripping, with plenty of twists and turns that left me eager for more. I’ll definitely be reading this again soon!

Wow just wow, I can't form words right now!! I'm speechless, what a fucking book!! I absolutely adore Cassie's books I will forever grab them. The are dark, gritty, interesting, intriguing, delicious. Always taking you on a magical journey with twists, turns, surprises, and good old spice.

This is the story of Odette and Luther. Once I picked up the book it never left my hands until it was done. I ate it all up, every lovely bit of it. It's action packed. It one don't want to miss! Characters brilliant, storyline too notch, plot truly amazing.

Odette is a favourite undead escort that will satisfy everyone of your desires, but she will love them and leave them. But with her next client Luther everything changes, he's obsessed, and starts staking the vampire. Is he nuts !! Does he want to be vamp food.

I really recommend grabbing the book. You won't be disappointed, I sure wasn't.

I am a ‘sucker’ for vampire romances, but “Suck, Marry, Kill” is my first romance with the stalker trope, so I wasn't sure what to expect. For me, I appreciated the chemistry between the FMC and MMC, but I couldn’t cheer for the MMC because the stalker element creeped me out. The sex scenes are quite steamy, so I think someone who enjoys this trope would like the book. So, I appreciate their chemistry but have discovered that the stalker trope is not for me (oh well). From a worldbuilding perspective, I would have preferred more of the Odette’s secret paranormal world to be fleshed out (e.g., doctors for paranormal creatures, blood bag delivery, the assassinations she does for Tempest, the nature of the bargains between “above” and “below”), and the ending felt anticlimactic. Still, I burned through the story. Overall, readers who enjoy fast-burn, high spice, stalker romances will enjoy this book, but it wasn’t quite for me.

A vampire story, that draws you in from the start with raw emotion and heartbreak. Odette is our fmc who we are first introduced to in her human form, but through her rawness and she is given a second chance. Odette isnt a normal person working as an escort she is a vampire who stands on her own and takes no nonsense doing what she loves while getting her revenge.

One client and it all changes – Luther is very human, but he has an obsession and one night with Odette will never be enough. Luther takes it to the next level and becomes Odette’s stalker. But can a vampire who has seen and done so much really have anything relatable with a human man.

Cassie Lein is in her element in this story and it showcases not only her unique style, but how she can bring each of her characters alive. She brings the raw emotion, the dangerous dark situations and all that spice. A great read.

Spice: 5/5
Genre: Vampire Romance, Dark Romance, Stalker Romance
Content Warnings: Violence, Death, Abuse and Rape
ARC Source: I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Thoughts: If you’re looking for your sparkly, light hearted vampire book, I suggest you go elsewhere. Cassie Lein weaves a deliciously dark vampire romance that’s equal parts seductive, violent and emotionally unhinged but in the best possible way. Beneath it all is the pulse of feminine rage that feels raw and powerful. The FMC shines with a fire that burns through her centuries of dominance and control, and her refusal to be tamed by anyone. The chemistry between the main characters is chaotic and volatile, which leads to plenty of spicy scenes throughout the book. My only critique would be to have a second book. Cassie Lein is turning into one of my favorite authors with her kickass FMC and fun but often chaotic books. I would recommend this book.

Such a tragic, heartbreaking start to this novel. How one could climb back to sanity after suffering that loss and physical assault of 20 men.

Twenty.

Men.

Wow.

She has a strength I can only admire. Luther might be a stalker, but he is redeemable—he loves Odette so much, determined to stick like glue, and is determined to protect her. Very very good read.

Dark , steamy and just utterly delicious !!! Suck Marry Kill !!! Really was so much more than I ever could have imagined and everything I never knew I needed . Such a fun story about a a Mortal man and a Vampire Escort !! I absolutely loved loved loved Odette and Luther so freaking much, because really whats not to love about a MMH who’s the perfect amount of Unhinged , possessive, protective and morally gray !! And Odette oh man the things she endured yet still is such a strong and kick@ss heroine , well I truly was rooting for her from start to finish . You know that feeling you get when you’re just about to get on the wildest and craziest ride at the amusement park ? The feeling of being excited and anxious , the anticipation of what’s to come . Well reading Suck Marry Kill was even better than that .

Interesting story about a vampire named Odette who works as an escort and is an assassin for Tempest, the Queen of Hell. One night with a new client, Luther, alters both of their lives. Luther becomes obsessed with Odette and starts to stalk her. Odette starts to experience some emotions she thought were long dead inside of her after a feral night with Luther. Once he finds out about her secret, Odette has no choice but to keep him close while they both figure out how to navigate their current situation. Odette’s past experiences come back to the surface to haunt her present which will have an impact on her relationship with Luther. The spice between them two is 😮 WHOA!! How Odette becomes a vampire is tragic. Please make sure you read the trigger warnings.

Cassie Lein pulled me in right from the Prologue with Odette's heartbreaking story. I was hooked and didn't want to put the book down. It is a quick read, but still has a lot of steamy scenes and a great plot. I will say that I typically don't love vampire romance, but this book was just a great read!

I loved Odette! Her story will certainly pull on your heartstrings, but she had me laughing at times too. Luther is obsessive, but I couldn't help but love him. I was routing for them right from the start because Odette needed Luther in her life. I wish we got an epilogue though to see them in the future.

If you enjoy vampire romance or just want a quick read then I would highly suggest grabbing this book now!

Suck Marry Kill is written by Cassie Lein.

💜 revenge
💜 vampires
💜 independent FMC
💜 obsessed MMC
💜 🌶🌶🌶🌶 spicy spice

Odette is a single mother having had to bury her husband. She is taking care of her children and property making a living being an herbalist for her small town. But, she is washing dishes as she sees lights coming down the lane. Why is there lights coming towards her on the lane? Why are people coming to her home at all in the dark? What does this mean?

This story was good. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the twists and turns it took I enjoyed. There was good character building and world building. Odette’s character is complex and fun to read. I really enjoyed this story and didn’t want to put it down once I started to read it.

LOVE WITH BITE

Not the book I was expecting but so much more. With the title and the blurb, I was expecting a rather blood thirsty book, afterall she is a vampire assassin. Don't get me wrong, my thirst for blood and vengeance on behalf of Odette was definitely met, but I was also pleasantly given a love story with Luthor. I enjoyed the banter between the two characters, the chemistry and the bonds they formed. Wonderful, engaging writing with a storyline that kept me turning each page wanting to know where this was heading. While you get an ending, it just happened and I can see more from these two characters. Cassie Lein has another great book on her hands and I recommend this steamy, possessive, paranormal romance that has just a wee bit of bite to it.

Holy smokes! One… I hate when the story ends with open questions. Two this isn’t a new thing for a Cassie book. 🤣 it’s nothing that takes away from the story. It’s just me being needy.
I loved this book! I loved it so much!

Odette is fierce and strong. She’s overcome so much to get to where she is. I mean she’s a confident worker in the coitus department. We love that!!

Luther is dark. But I’m the way you always love to read about. In the “I’ll be in the shadows when you need me, just call” way. It’s darkly hot and incredibly alluring.

Having both of them together is only a recipe for delight! I loved this. Can’t wait to see what’s next for Cassie, cause you know I’ll be there. 😉

DNFing at 70%. I loved Odette. She was such a badass, so beautiful and sexy. And the fact that she was a vampire sex worker? Sign me up! Luther gave me the ick lol. He was just a bit too obsessive and stalkerish to me, and I don’t think Odette punished or acknowledged that enough. I was able to overlook all of that… but the vampire things are actually what made me stop reading. How could she walk in the sunlight? This isn’t addressed at all, and if the Sun thing is a myth in this world, that’s fine, but I would’ve liked for it to have been mentioned. Same with her having a “pulse.” She’s literally dead, how does she have a pulse? Maybe I’m nitpicky, but I mostly liked the book, just couldn’t look past these things.

What do you get when a centuries-old vampire crosses paths with a human who has stalker tendencies? This book! She is darkness and sorrow, while he is light and laughter. I loved the way they made each other stronger when facing outside forces and when battling conflicts within themselves. There is heat, hunger, and eventual obsession between them from their very first interaction. You get a lot out of less than 200 pages. The ending was everything I hoped for them and more. If work had not kept pulling me away, I would have happily consumed this story in one sitting, because I never wanted to stop reading it.

Suck, Marry, Kill is a stalker/vampire/horror/romance kinda book. While It holds spice, it also has action and gore. Where it has romance, it also has a creep factor where the stalking gets out of hand.

Odette, a woman who lost everything while she was human has a choice. Either join her husband and children in Heaven or become something more and work for The Tempest herself.

Luther, someone who paid for an escort but upon meeting her becomes obsessed with everything she is, to the point where not even the truth can scare him away from her.

This story holds a great plot, basing Odettes life off the tragic events that unfolded around her, making it hard for her to trust and love Luther even after the life altering news that falls onto the both of them.

Cassie Lein has done it again! She has created another amazing story with a bad@$$ FMC and a hot as he!! MMC. Add in the fact that the FMC is a vampire and the MMC is a stalker…it’s just a masterpiece!
Odette is an escort (who just happens to be a vampire) and is working when she happens to come across Luther. Luther is a good-looking sexy guy who is an obsessive stalker. They are combustible when they are thrown together. They could burn down the bedroom with the heat level they create. Then there are the twists you didn’t see coming…
Thank you, Cassie Lein, for another amazing story! You just keep me coming back for more and I just can’t get enough!

As a human, Odette's story is rather tragic in the prologue, but that trauma is what fuels her decision to accept Tempest's deal. As an escort, her undead life is full of smexy times, fun, and action, with a side of personal, deadly revenge, and an occassional assignment from Tempest.
Enter Luther... undeniably human, completely obssessed, and unabashedly stalking her.
The chemistry between the two of them is electric, and even after he learns she's a vampire, he doesn't walk away.
This was a fun read with interesting characters, a solid plot with twists, spice, unaliving, and a nice dash of humor mixed in.

I absolutely love Cassie’s books, Im sure I’ve said this in almost every review I’ve done for her books, but it’s the truth so I will most likely keep saying it LOL! I could not put this book down. It captivated me from beginning to end. I loved the storyline, and my heart broke for Odette, our fmc. She went through a lot and I’m not sure I could have made the choice she made. She made it work for her though. I loved following her journey. This book will make you wish for more. Im ready for the next book of Cassie’s!

As always be mindful of trigger warnings, what I like you may not.

Happy Reading!
