From foster care to the Garden, Raining Chaos makes their debut. They learn fame and fortune comes with a price; it's all in how you deal with it that makes the journey worthwhile.
Chaos is told by the record company that what got them to the top is no longer cutting it so they’re sending a songwriter. Yeah, that goes over well…not…until she shows up. Their chemistry is off the charts, however, for a commitment phobia guy, does Chaos really want to take the chance with his and the band's future.
Cynda makes a promise and fulfilling it could cost her more than she ever expected. Rock stars can't be trusted, she knows, she lived with it all her life. When she shows up to meet the band, it all changes when she’s drawn to everything she vowed would never be in her future. But as Cynda feels the pull toward Chaos and joins them on the road, she realizes the cost of loving a rock star is huge. A simple job and promise will change her life, now she needs to figure out whether it would be for better or worse.
Jump on the bus as Raining Chaos sets out on their tour and join them to see if making music soothes the soul or breaks the heart.

Lynne St. James is an Amazon bestselling author. She’s a member of NINC! and the Florida Star Fiction Writers. From the moment she wrote her first story and read it to the neighborhood kids, she was hooked on writing. Lynne’s dream of being published came true in 2012.
Now Lynne writes mostly romantic suspense with military heroes and the strong women they fight to protect. But she also has series that are contemporary, new adult, and paranormal. All of her books, no matter what the genre, include danger, passion, family, humor, and a happily-ever-after.
Originally from up north, Lynne now makes her home in the mostly sunny state of Florida with her husband, Lulu the Yorkie-poo, and an orange tabby named Pumpkin who thinks he rules them all—and mostly does!
When Lynne’s not writing or daydreaming about her next book, she’s drinking coffee and reading or crocheting.
What we have here is a failure to communicate … err, I mean connect. I was really looking forward to reading Taming Chaos when I queued it up on my Kindle this morning. Yet for some reason I could not connect with either Chaos or Cynda. Being unable to connect with the main characters translates into not getting invested in their story. Not caring whether or not they were able to write songs together. Not caring whether or not the main characters have sex and if said sex was hot. Not caring whether or not Chaos was able to pull his head out of his a$$ and fix things with Cynda after a colossal eff-up. Not caring whether or not Cynda got to meet her father – actually that one I did care about, but you get what I’m saying.
This really sucks because I liked the storyline for the most part. The idea of a group of foster kids working hard to make it in the music industry (no instant success story here) was great. Couple that with a reticent songwriter whose talent is in her blood and present their story to me in alternating points of view and I SHOULD have been in heaven. But I wasn’t and it’s not the author’s fault. I liked Ms. St. James’s writing style and she does a nice job with the shifting POVs. My only complaint about the actual story is the ending – it felt rushed and far too much happened within an accelerated timeframe to make it feel real. With this being the first book in the Raining Chaos series, part of the ending scene should have been delayed until the next book (I can’t tell you what without spoiling it). Despite my lack of connection with Chaos and Cynda, I would like to read the next book in the series as I am interested in Sapphire and Wrath’s story and I can only hope that I fare better next time around so I can stick with the series to get to Michelle and Flame’s story. Taming Chaos is one of those books I recommend you check out the sample and decide for yourself – my failure to connect does not mean you’ll have the same issue so give it a shot because it may just be your next favorite book.
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed by Angela at Crystal's Many Reviewers!
OMG where to start with this... I was rolling my eyes from the beginning so I knew it was gonna be a long read. I can't believe all the high ratings this book has. Yikes!
The writing style is poor & the dialogue is beyond cheese. The 2 lead characters, Chaos & Cynda are just confused & contradicting. It sets up Chaos to be the typical bad boy rocker who isn't interested in relationships. But he's the exact opposite. Doesn't party, doesn't hang out with groupies or his band mates after shows. He's actually a complete bore for a rockstar.
Cynda is also a hypocrite. Talking about how she doesn't do the rockstar lifestyle & stays away from rocker guys but she jumps on his bone first chance he shows he wants her. What?! She's kinda spineless where she doesn't stick to her principles. And after they hook up all of a sudden she's madly in love with him?
When all the drama goes down with Sweets & Cynda leaves, all the description of how heartbroken she feels & how her heart needs time to mend & losing a love... what??? They hooked up a couple of times in a matter of a couple of days & she's head over heels? No no no. Or how about when there are misunderstandings & it gets explained in a very weak way & they believe it? Huh?!!
This was a major disappointment. Poor writing, cheezy dialogue, weak characters & lame story.
Chaos and Cynda meet when she is hired by his record label to help him write songs for their second album. Chaos decides to have her go on tour with them in the hopes he can convince her to use the songs he has already written. Cynda goes along on tour with them and tries to find out more about Chaos. Cynda keeps some information from Chaos as to who her father is and has her own reasons for doing so. Sweet, who is the foster sibling of Chaos, decides she wants him for herself and tries to threaten Cynda away. After some backstabbing and drama, Cynda finds herself wondering why she agreed to any of this. Chaos realizes that in order to make amends, he is going to have to step up and get Cynda to agree to give him another chance. Overall an okay read and was a pretty quick read also.
2.5 stars. So forced. And the sudden happy ending where everything works out with almost no effort on anyone's part. The author even wrote, "Everything had worked out," in the epilogue. Not a very satisfing HEA.
Taming Chaos is about a rock band Raining Chaos who has hit the big time, touring the States while getting ready to put out a new album. Well the record company isn't happy and decides to send a song wrtter to help Chaos with the album. Raining Chaos is made up of Seven adults who had all grew up in the same foster home. Chaos, Wrath, Flame, Rage, Fury, Sweets and Candy. Not their real names but nick names they have given eachother. Cynda is the song writter who works for the record company she is sent out to help Raining Chaos with their songs. Cyn is a huge fan of Raining Chaos and she has crushed on Chaos for years and now she was going to be spending lots of time with her. This story is fast paced, Chaos and Cyn fall in lust with eachother with in first site. Over the course of a few days they fall hard eachother but a jealous friend will pop their bubble. Which will break hearts
I absolutely loved this story. The chemistry with the band and also between Cyn and Trent is amazing. I also enjoyed that the band we so tight. The book had it all humor, love and conflict. I only wish it was a little longer so you could get some more background but hopefully there will be more books to follow the other band members and maybe one with more on them after! Definitely a series I will continue.
I love finding new authors to me. This book keeps you gripped from the start. You get to see how the characters connect. See the band come together more. See the passion between Cyn and Chaos grow. I did want to slap the man silly a few times but he made good in the end
He's the Leader singer of a band made up of friends from his past but when his label sends him a songwriter his life will be changed. Rock and roll and family drama a good first story
Who gives these books high ratings? Right. People authors give free copies to. A guy named Chaos? 🙄 writing was horrible. Everything was awful. Deleted book.
Holy rocking HOTNESS! Taming Chaos was one crazy, fun, passionate filled ride. I LOVED this book! This is book one in Lynne St. James's new series, Raining Chaos and is just one of the BEST book I have read in months. Its completely different then Miss James's Anamchara Series. Instead of Shifters we get sexy rockstars and feisty songwriters. I absolutely LOVED the differences and thought it was completely amazing to see into the lifestyle of a rock band.
Chaos is a hard-headed sexy Rock God who thinks he doesn't need a songwriter for his band. He thinks his music is great and so does Cynda. But she was hired to do a job, and do the job she will! Cynda is beautiful, sweet, has a spine of steel and when Chaos gives her hell, she gives it right back.
I really enjoyed the fact that this band doesn't do drugs and everything was so well-written and was a delight to read. Lynne St. James created a masterpiece with Taming Chaos and I see this book rising to the top...maybe even right next to Kylie Scott's Stage Dive Series! I liked seeing both Chaos's and Cynda's POVs and thought this was a completely satisfying read. Sparks don't just fly, they flare up so fast, it quickly becomes an inferno. The passion is strong, the sex dirty and smoking HOT, and this has the PERFECT amount of romance and edge you expect in any good romance. I liked seeing the ups and downs of being a rock band and it was nice knowing that everything isn't always peaches and cream just because your rich and famous.
This book deserves a FULL FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS! Its truly a work of art. From the cover, to the title, to the story itself. It will capture your attention and keep you glued to your ereader till the very last page. So go ahead. Take a chance on Taming Chaos and see if you will fall in love with Chaos and his crazy, fun band. I can't WAIT for book 2!
A clean rock star romance with likeable characters. It's refreshing to read a rock star romance that didn't include the stereotypical drug and alcohol abuse and a rock band that featured two female backup singers. I loved the writing style and the book was well written with few minor editing issues. There's certainly a case of insta-lust but the buildup to the first sex scene was done well. This is an easy read with enough angst to keep me interested and great secondary characters. However, I felt I was getting an incomplete story even though this is a full length standalone novel. There wasn't enough character development to fully understand the MC's motives or convince me of their romance. I wish their past was a bit more fleshed out. I felt the plot was underdeveloped but I still enjoyed this steamy read enough to want to read the next book (Wrath's story). No cheating.
There's good and bad about this book...the good is that its a great read & the bad is that I have to wait for the next book in this series to come out. This is why I usually will wait for the whole series to be written so that I am not left wondering what happens.
And believe me, you will get wrapped up in this book and like me, cannot wait for the next one to come out. There are so many options for Ms. St James to take but I do hope that she continues with more on Trent & Cynda. They have so much more story to be told. And then I would like to hear about each of the guys & their lives. But please more on Trent & Cynda first.
All I can say is if you get a chance to read this book, do because it is one of the better rock romance books I've read. I ended up reading it in 1 day because I couldn't put it down!
I am now a huge Raining Chaos Fan!!! Chaos is the rocker everyone wants. Cynda is a songwriter sent to help him write songs, even though he doesn't need anyone's help doing that. You know going in that there will be strife. And boy is there. A jealous back up singer, a bastard manager, a father Cynnda didn't know, and some rockin' chemistry make this book Rock!
Lynne St. James has made me cry once, and she has done it again. I felt for all the characters. I wan't the next book to be longer, and I would love Joe to have his chance at love again. I am already in love with him!!!!!
The problem with this book was the pace. Everything moved too face and it made the relationships/situations feel unrealistic. Their feelings for each other weren't really justified for me. Not as developed as they could of been-it made the book come off as cheesy and I was rolling my eyes at so many different parts of this book. It would be laughable if it wasn't so cringey.
I was a good story though and had it been more developed I would have really enjoyed it.
Absolutely fabulous story. Couldnt put it down. Love the interaction between Cynda and Chaos. Sex was HOT HOT HOT. The whole story is well written, I just wish we learned a bit more about the main characters past. We get an idea but I feel it is not enough. Still that didn't put me off. I really enjoyed this book. Cant wait to read book 2.
This book was Fan-rockin-tastic! I loved this book! It had well-developed sympathetic characters, a believable story-line & nice flow along with some steamy passion. I could not put it down. As far as I’m concerned Ms. St. James cannot write these fast enough to satisfy my curiosity. I want to know what happens to all the band members right now & you will too!
LOVED it. Trent and Cyn make beautiful music together...in more ways than one! This is a wonderful beginning to this series. I can't wait to read more....in fact I was disappointed when this book was over.
When I book make you laugh so hard you have tears from the first line you know you are on a wild ride. I loved this book, I couldnt put it down. It was fun, crazy, sexy hot all the thing you want in a amazing story ♥
Awesome book! Very hot! I loved it ! Look forward to reading about the rest of the bad boy's of Raining Chaos!! Cynda was a pretty tough nut to crack but a very good fit for Chaos! Exciting!
This is an awesome book. It kept me interested from beginning to end. Chaos and Cyn are very in-depth characters. The story has touches of sadness but there is a happy ending.
