Pete has finally escaped Vegas—but walking away from him is proving harder than he ever imagined. The violence, the captivity, the chaos… it should have left nothing but scars. So why can’t he stop thinking about the man behind the madness?
Meanwhile, Porsche is spiraling. A photograph and a cryptic message hint at a devastating truth: Kinn’s family may be tied to his own parents’ deaths. The closer Porsche gets to the truth, the more uncertain everything becomes—including his love for Kinn.
As the Major and Minor Clans edge toward all-out war, loyalties are tested and secrets explode. In the aftermath, can Porsche and Pete find peace with the men who shattered their lives…or are some wounds too deep to heal?
Why is everyone so whiny? Why is the plot getting more and more convoluted? This took me so long to finish because I was not having as much fun as I thought I would. Wow, the TV show adaptation did do it better... I was excited to read more about Vegas and Pete. I was also looking forward to getting to know the youngest brother, Kim, more. However, aside from a few fun bonus stories at the end, the book was not that entertaining. 2.5/5
What did I just read? So much happened, I’m still confused, but I was along for the ride every step of the way! The rollercoaster ride of emotions from Porsche and Pete were insane. And the ending (before the bonus chapters) left more questions for volume 6. This series has blown me away so far! Not ready for it to end.
This volume was easily the best out of the series, especially as a Vegas Pete fan. The writing is not good, and definitely not amazing but the character work done with Vegas & Pete is strong (up to this volume). This series should have ended with this volume. I really loved the scenes with Pete, Vegas and Venice! Oh baby Venice is so cute like one of the cutes Yaoi/BL babies! and yes Pete makes for an excellent mom! He got them mom skills down packed!
Both Vegas and Pete are in the mafia. They will NOT have a uber healthy loving relationship. Pete has 100% killed, beaten and kidnapped other characters in this world. He is not innocent and he does NoT need saving from Vegas because he loves Vegas and Vegas loves him.
Pete leaves because he doesn't want to be confined and chained up yes, even though he loves pain he has a threshold. Through being chained up by Vegas, Pete learns that he craves freedom. He wants to make the choice of choosing Vegas and staying with him on his own.
Toxic Yaoi is so delicious when you don't have a loser in your ear telling you it's nasty or that violence and rape is bad! I know it is in real life but this is fiction and I like it in my fiction!
I'm assuming the next one is going to wrap up the plot threads that are still hanging, especially around just going by a conversation between Porsche and Vegas.
Lots of twists in this volume, with the set up for the finale. I was really surprised by some of the revelations. Some of the side stories at the end made me laugh
2.5. Not the best one though it was nice to have Pete finally come to a conclusion, but Kinn and Porsche are stuck in the same back and forth the whole dang book!
The plot is really getting thin with this one. So, the main characters are starting to feel secondary at this point and the secondary characters of Pete and Vegas are feeling primary. In the afterward Daemi said she relates more toward Pete than anyone and it shows. There story seems to be the most important now.
The story did give us an ending in this volume with Kinn and Porsche and it still doesn't feel like their story any more. They didn't spend a whole lot of time together, they were off doing their own things. It just felt so bizarre. This book, we heard Porsche go on and on about he loves Kinn and then he is always avoiding him and not telling him stuff. It was unsatisfying.
The first few books, I was into this. I enjoyed learning about Thai culture and what it's like over there, but the focus is sort of a mess and the plot is sort of all over the place. I've sort of lost interest in this story toward the end and I don't even want to reread this mess. They are very messed up characters and it sort of lost it's entertaining value.
After the big finish, the story does go on. I'm going to finish the story with the next book. I feel sort of let down by this.
Did I actually see some emotional growth past the little glimmer we saw in Vol.4. Made me actually feel so bad for Porche who is finally seeing everything and questioning how him knowing and accepting the reality might mean he needs to then question his relationship with the man he loves. His breakdowns were much expected and as well done as you might expect for this series.
THEY TALKED (MOSTLY SCREAMED) but better than nothing lol! And we have progress! The bar truly is in hell.
