"...answers to some of the frustrating problems parents face." Author uses her experiences as mother and grandmother and a pastor's wife to shed light on ideas that work.
I have read many parenting books, but this has been the best one I have read so far. Most parenting books talk about the differences in children’s personalities, but not how to teach to those differences. They quote terrifying statistics and then don’t counter it enough with practical ways to combat those statistics. Beverly LaHaye’s “How to Develop Your Child’s Temperament” is different. She spends two chapters on temperaments, and then the remaining eight on how to parent those temperaments. She gives very concrete, Scriptural advice (as opposed to the vague suggestions many parenting books give), and speaks to not just the different temperaments, but the different ages you will deal with as a parent. This was a very helpful book and I recommend it to any parent, no matter the age of their child.
