This book mainly about domestic cats. It tells us about the different types, different moods, how their eyes work, different positions, kittens, how they use claws and pads and how they attack. The book also mentions other animals that are in the feline family including; Lynxes, Ocelots, Cheetahs, Lions, Jaguars and Tigers.
This is a great book to look at for science and characteristics of a cat. It is multisensory as there are plastic pages; this helps see the front and back of a paw. It is great for showing children how not all creatures of the same family look the same and that cats have different moods, just like humans. This book could be used in art to copy and attempt to draw their own cats showing different emotions and could even create their own stories. This book could be used as a reference when reading narratives such as ‘The Nine Lives of Montezuma’ by Michael Morpurgo. Finally this book would be a useful introduction into learning about large cats.
