Castles by Gallimard Jeunesse is part of the wonderful series "First Discovery," non-fiction books that are beautifully illustrated. I discovered the series when my son was a toddler. The books are useful for a wide span of ages-the pictures make them fun for toddlers while the text help the books span to middle school. My son especially loved the dinosaurs and whales but he was read this book about castles many times because I loved it. A wonderful fantasy book, even though it's non-fiction!

Loved the Scholastic First Discovery books when I was a kid. This one gives a basic overview of castle life in the middle ages. The book is so mesmerizing to children because of the painted transparent pages that held hidden secrets. Great books for little readers.

Ce titre est dans la série de ≪Mes Prèmieres Déscouvertes≫ par Gallimard Jeunesse. C'est une introduction aux châteaux, écrit en langage assez simple. J'ai beaucoup aimé les pages semitransparentes qui nous ont montrées l'intérieur et les parties d'un château.

This title is in the "Mes Prèmieres Déscouvertes" (My First Discoveries) series by Gallimard Jeunesse. It's an introduction to castles, written in relatively simple language. I really liked the semitransparent pages that show us the interior and parts of a castle.

The see-through pages made this fun, even though it is very short. Very simple and to the point, though I do wish it had a bit more about the parts of a castle.
