Weather by Gallimard Jeunesse is a great introduction to this text set because it talks about all sorts of weather in a really unique way. This book is a nonfiction, engineered book, meaning it “involves the cutting, folding or otherwise reconstructing of the normal printed of illustrated page.” (Tunnel, Jacobs, Young & Bryan, 2012). The way this book is engineered, is that there are transparent overlays on each page, which ultimately change the weather in each scene. Sophi Kniffe illustrated Jenesse’s scenes of the weather perfectly as he explores spring showers, hot summer days, and even rainbows and lightning! It’s a great introduction to weather, and a fun way to get students involved in the topic.

There was no formal reading level information for this book, but the author states that it is perfect for ages 3-6, so I am going to assume it is for Kindergarten and 1st grade students.
Illustrated by Sophie Kniffke

This book discusses the different types of weather and the seasons. The book also talks about activities done during each season. There are painted transparent pages that show the changes in weather.

This book is great for learning about weather and seasons.

I love this series. Some of them are very hard to find and command a high price. The pictures are clear and bright and the "clear pages" add interest. They are European based, so some of the species pictures are not native but the information is sound. Recommended, if you can find them!

Okay but why aren't there any tornadoes? Ain't y'all ever seen "Twister"? Or heard of Oklahoma? Smh.

This is a very good book to introduce the weather world to children. This is a First Discovery Book that young children can witness all kinds of weather throughout the book. This helps young readers understand different types of weather.
I have never read a book like this one before, not because it is a weather book, but because it has a transparent sheet in between two pages and it shows the weather when you turn the page. It was very cool to see. You can understand it way better when it shows it, and not just says what it is.
I personally enjoyed this book because it had a new idea of how to show weather. We didn't have any nonfiction books in our house, but when I went to the library they had a lot and many that I never thought of as nonfiction.

J’ai toujours aimé cette collection lorsque j’étais enfant. Elle est bien faite, accessible et les transparents ajoutent un côté satisfaisant à la lecture ! Magique 😀
