Another ghost story where I had to lay my skepticism to rest. I might even start to look for books with a supernatural angle.
This was a superb thriller. Three girls being killed by the same man, haunted by it and wanting revenge. What really impressed me, was how emotional the story was. I felt the pain of them seeing their loved ones, not able to do anything to stop the killer. They all had very distinct personalities and I liked them all.

One sentence review: An interesting social commentary take on haunting
SYNOPSIS
Three women. Three victims of a serial killer who finds his victim on a dating app. When they meet in the after life, they're determined to find a way to stop him from killing again.
MY OPINION
Thank you so much @rebby.reads for my gifted copy. Without her rec, I definitely wouldn't have picked this up. No shade, I'm just not into ghost stories.
It's always a good sign when I have limited notes as I'm reading LOL. The more notes = the saltier the review. This book is EXTREMELY bingeable. At 260ish pages, I devoured it in one sitting in my "reading sleigh". Unlike Hidden Pictures and Ghost Eaters, Ihli takes the time to – in a natural way – explain the abilities and limitations of the ghost powers. By doing so, I could focus on the plot instead of wondering why the ghostie didn't do xyz. Tbh Ihli did a fantastic job of addressing any potential plot holes and answering questions the reader might have. This was a HUGE plus as a reader who is always asking qs like the nosey hoe I am.
As I said in my one sentence review, this was a social commentary take on haunting. It explored the challenges and dangers of being a woman in the modern dating scene. Hindsight truly is 20/20. It's a good reminder to check yourself before victim blaming. Sometimes I think back on my college days and I thank my lucky stars I'm not dead in a ditch. Just something as simple as walking home from class with my headphones on could've ended me up in the back of a trunk. Scary tings. Anyways.
It was also a creative way to show how "normal" abusers can be. It's not the scary strangers in the bushes. It's the charming guy who opened the passenger side car door for you. It's the married man with the picture-perfect family and doting wife. And all of this makes sussing out the baddies even harder for a woman who just wants to enjoy her night without a cloak of paranoia.
I also liked the inclusion of the detectives. Again, another great display of how misogyny can be the difference between a family getting answers or forever wondering if their daughter really just dipped on them.
My main rich homie qualm was some parts dragged. The synopsis says the three girls link up, but this doesn't occur until the 60% mark. You spend a lot of time with each girl as they figure out their after life status and what they should do. This was interesting... to a point. The book is pretty short but I would've liked to spend more time with the girl gang.
All in all, an interesting and easy-to-devour read. The writing was straightforward. No turgid prose here. Another plus for me.

This was such a cool concept for a book. In all of the time that I've been reading thrillers, I honestly don't think I've ever read anything like this before.
╰⪼ I think part of the extra enjoyment was that I didn't read the blurb going into this one- I just saw that a few of my friends loved it. That it was a thriller and I liked the cover. Oh, and it's a quick one - just under 300 pages.
I was immediately pulled into the story as we follow three victims of the match strike killer as they tell us their stories after their murders. This match strike killer is just going around plucking off random women he meets on a popular dating app and no one seems to be the wiser.
Imagine if your victims were haunting you from beyond and helping the police without you knowing it? Tick tock mf. LOL. Revenge is so sweet.
I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engaged for the most part. I had just a couple of issues with the alternating POVs - there was three of them and I had a hard time remembering who was who and who I was hearing from as the chapters changed.
I also felt that the timeline was a little confusing considering we are thrust right into the thick of it.
Once I got my bearings though it was off to the races.
Meghan, Skye and Brecia are such fierce and strong female characters while still remaining compassionate and empathetic - loved them.

Haunting-but in more of a heartbreaking way than in the spooky, supernatural way that I was expecting! And, a book with a message.
Who wouldn’t trust a guy who looked like Chris Hemsworth, drove a blue Kia Sorrento, and drank hot chocolate?
For the women who joined the dating APP, “Matchstrike” hoping to find THE ONE, finding him seemed as lucky, and as unlikely, as finding a “needle in a haystack”.
But, for Brecia, Meghan and Skye, getting fooled by him would lead to their deaths.
We hear firsthand from these anguished ghosts, who cannot rest, about their encounters with him, and about their wait for justice.
Luckily one had a Detective who refused to give up-instead of one who was burned out and indifferent.
And, luckily another woman had these three souls looking out for her.
The tension was palpable in the second half-and you will shed a tear-
BUT you will also cheer!
🆘 There is an actual movement becoming popular in bars “Ask for Angela” for women who feel threatened! I hope that more bars become aware of the phrase, and choose to help!
There is even an epilogue called “The River” which I was able to download for free when I subscribed to the author’s mailing list.

Fun thriller! My biggest complaint was the three girl's voices sounded identical, and it was difficult to tell them apart. Other than that, it was a very engaging and quick read.

The tension in this book was electrifying
Ask for Andrea is a unique plot following the aftermath of three girls who are k!lled by a scumbag Serial K!ller.
This one had my attention from the get go, because its not like anything i have read before. This is not your typical thriller and read more like a character driven read.
Monsters don't always appear scary. They can be handsome, charming and very convincing.
This book really highlighted how women can easily find themselves in danger to no fault of their own, and raises deep thoughts on what we can do to make ourselves more vigilant and aware in romantic settings.

I think I’m in the minority but I did not like this one. The story of three young women that are killed by a serial killer. The story follows the ghosts of the women that are trying to make sure their killer is convicted. I found the storyline predictable and slow.

☆What to Expect:
Ask for Andrea is a fast-paced ghost thriller, but it’s not your average ghost story. Three young girls find themselves on a mission to catch the MatchStrike Killer (this story’s version of a dating app). The only problem is that they were all senselessly murdered by this man, and need to figure out the limits of their capabilities as ghosts. In a race against time and multiple states, Brecia, Meghan, and Skye must stop him before he takes any more lives, and anyone is fair game.
Trigger Warnings: Murder, rape, descriptions of bodily decomposition, possibility of the murder of children, date rape drugs, serial killer.
☆My Thoughts:
I desperately was in need of a quick thriller after wasting weeks of my life on a terrible series reread (Note for all: don’t be like me. DNF any book that doesn’t seem worth it!!). I’ve been eyeing this book every time it pops up in my KU feed, and finally took the plunge after seeing its high rating. It did not disappoint.
Ask for Andrea cycles between the first-person POV of each of the ghosts: Brecia, Meghan, and Skye, from their initial deaths, to their discovery of their ghostly abilities, and to the very final outcome. Each chapter is short–no more than maybe 5 minutes–making this an extremely digestible novel (minus, obviously, the unsavory parts).
This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time, needing to know how the killer would be caught. Overall, I enjoyed the 3 person POV approach, being in the minds of each of the ghosts, as it felt like a fresher take on the typical murder mystery. Seeing how each character went about their hauntings was interesting and heightened the need for revenge and justice. My biggest issue was that each character’s voice unfortunately read the exact same, which made it harder to separate one girl from the next. While each POV is labeled at the start of the chapter, I often found myself going back to see who was actually speaking.
I would, however, recommend this story for anyone in need of an exciting thriller–something to break up reading monotony or to eliminate a slump.

I really don’t know how this book has a 4+ rating. The story was so basic and not thrilling at all. The characters were all over the place resharing their stories and it was pretty repetitive at times.

A unique twist on a haunting! This book was so fun! I flew through it! I loved the premise and the writing style. I like the alternating chapters with the different girls.

Chilling, haunting, dark, gripping, thrilling, shocking, and hard to put down, Noelle W. Ihli delivered with Ask for Andrea! I had a hard time putting this book down and felt for Meghan, Brecia, and Skye who were all murdered by a man they each met online. It all began with a dating website where the women were legitimately looking to meet someone, and he was hunting. He described himself as being a charming and charismatic bachelor. He lied; he is a cold-blooded killer!
This book is uniquely told from the viewpoints of the three murdered women, Meghan, Brecia, and Skye. They find each other after their horrific murders and ban together, waiting, watching, observing, and trying to warn the living of the deranged man who took their lives. I rooted for the living including family members who want answers and Detective Domanski. I had my fingers crossed the entire time that justice would be served.
This was such a compelling, fast paced page turner that had me reading deep into the night. I felt for the women and how their lives were tragically cut short by a vicious killer. Their POVs were harrowing and emotion evoking. I loved the tension, the dread, the mounting danger, and the emotions that this captivating book evoked.
I was glued to the pages of this well written, well thought out, and riveting book.

Oh. My. God! A supernatural revenge thriller that was both poignant and chilling, Ask for Andrea filled me with just as much dread as it did tearful reflection. A moving new take on a serial killer premise, the three incisive POVs and eerie connecting plot lines delivered a blindingly brilliant novel. You see, not only did it entertain with unbridled suspense and deep-seated foreboding, but it made me actually cry as I thought back on who I’d want a visit from if they’re watching from the other side. Making me desperately hope that this insanely talent author’s imaginings are really true, I easily felt the deep wells of emotion and I’m sure that you will as well when you read this one too. Heartbreaking, thrilling, and beyond realistic, I’ve just become a brand-spanking-new fan of Ms. Noelle Ihli and her maestro-like, out-of-this-world story-crafting skills.
All said and done, from the cheer-worthy narrators to the evil-personified villain, I couldn’t put this short, addictive read down for even a minute. I am not a DNF person but this book almost turned me into one. Not sure how this is considered a thriller. Not a single plot twist was had. We are told from the very beginning what happened and who the killer is.
The rest of the book is 3 ghosts who “haunt” the killer for years and try to save other girls but it doesn’t work. They can’t do anything or change outcomes. It’s incredibly BORING. The book switches between the 3 girls POV but since their stories are all so similar, it all runs together and feels like one long boring story.

WARNING! Avoid dating site MatchStrike like the plague … you have been warned, ignore at your peril. Why I hear you cry? Well, you might just match up with James Carson. Yes, he has the looks of the Chris Hemsworth but those handsome features below a dark and wicked soul. Just ask Megan in Utah, Brecia in Colorado and Skye in Idaho, they’ll tell you the truth about this wolf in sheep’s clothing. This is their story.
The concept of this novel is really good, it’s different and a perfect late October read. It’s ghostly, terrifying, has tension by the truckload, it’s full of fear and trepidation. Towards the end a horrifying game of cat and mouse ensues which has me on the edge of my seat with accompanying tension that you could cut with a knife. You cheer on Detective Domanski, you need her on your investigative side but not Detective Kittleson who should be consigned to the cop scrapheap.
It’s very well written, I love the dark tone, some of the ideas that the author puts forward are thoughtful and it’s written with no necessary frills just good straightforward storytelling with the end result being a darned good dark thriller.
This is an author who is new to me, if this is typical of her work, count me in. I’ll try and read her back catalogue whenever I can. This was a buddy read with Jayme, Susan,Mary Beth, DeAnn and Marilyn. Great choice for a late October read.

I went into this book knowing absolutely nothing about what to expect and I honestly think that just aided in my love and investment in this book. I was not at al disappointed!! This story was so unique and genuinely one of the better thrillers I've ever read.
Right from the very beginning, this book throws you into the deep end and I was hooked before I knew it. I was about to read this in under 12 hours it was that fast and that good. I really enjoyed the easy to understand concept and the bingeable aspect that you just can't help but fall into! I will say, though, that this book is very shallow in terms of characters. We don't really get much on them as this book focuses more on the present plot. I didn't mind in all honesty because I don't think this book really needed it. It was investing enough as it was.
Overall, this delivered everything I hoped it would. It was gripping and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Pretty much everything I look for in a good thriller! I can't wait to read some more of the authors works. I think she will quickly become one of my favorite thriller authors. 🤭

I still can not stop thinking about this book and my feelings feel the same way as I did right when I finished it.
This isn't your typical thriller because overall the book is in the perspectives of the women who were killed by a serial killer. But the catch is after they die, they haunt their killer. It is such a unique twist because you follow the women's efforts to try and stop James from killing the next girl, but all in ghost form. Once Brecia, Meghan, and Skye find each other, they make it their ultimate goal to have justice be served. As you see them watch multiple sides of what happens after death through the police, their families, and James lives you feel their sadness but also hope. Throughout the story, you feel as though you are a ghost there alongside them! I truly loved this book and my only complaint is I feel Skye's justice was a bit rushed and squeezed in at the end. Overall, it has become one of my favorites that I wish I could sell my soul to read it for the first time again!

Okay, this was fun!
I’m always a little hesitant when your main characters are dead ones. It normally removes a little bit of the suspense for me…normally. Not in this case. This is incredibly suspenseful!
Our victims are strong and determined and I simply loved them! As for our killer? Ooh…I wanted very bad things to happen to him.
The storytelling is good here – the author does an excellent job of drawing out the tension, even in some scenes where you *know* what’s about to happen.

Meghan, Brecia, and Skye have all been murdered by the same man, someone pretending to be an eligible bachelor interested in dating them. Together, they will stop at nothing to ensure they are the last of his victims.
I have noticed over the past couple of years a significant shift towards focusing more on the victim than the perpetrator, and this book does exactly that. Told entirely from the perspectives of the three women brutally murdered by a serial killer, the layers are peeled back slowly through the eyes of each victim as they share what led up to their deaths and the ways in which they are so desperately trying to stop their killer from hurting anyone else.
While the story itself is not super original, the narrators and the pacing make it seem so fresh and new. It was heartbreaking to read through each woman’s experiences and the emotions that followed not only for them but for those they left behind. Ask for Andrea gives powerful voice to the victims and their families, and I think that is one of the reasons I enjoyed this one as much as I did.
🎧 I chose to do an immersive read with the audiobook and the ebook to prevent any confusion between the characters or timeline. While this can be done solely on audio or ebook for that matter, I think the two together worked the best for me, particularly because there is only one narrator, and I can see how I would have easily confused which character was speaking without the ebook in front of me.

'Tis the Season
I was in the mood for a spooky Halloween story and chose to read this with friends so we could shiver together.
While I loved the direction of the book, I'd anticipated a spookier read which it might have been had we not had the perspective of the ghosts. That being said, the outlook opens the door to a creative path and one that was new to me.
The plot follows three women who'd been murdered by a serial killer and couldn't rest until they assisted other potential victims and the perpetrator received justice.
The story is unique with a focus on the afterlife that I hadn't read before. It could easily have been a revenge type tale but was more sophisticated than I foresaw. Although I wanted to see the piece of dirt that was the killer served some of his own medicine, helping other victims was a large motivational factor.
This was was much better than I'd anticipated and a nice find on KU. It's always enjoyable to read with friends so I want to thank Jayme, Ceecee, Marilyn, MaryBeth, and DeAnn for the buddy read.

Ask For Andrea has been talked about in my Facebook newsfeed constantly, I keep seeing it all over my Goodreads and it has been recommended quite a few times by my friends in the past and for some reason, I kept ignoring it.
Probably because of the paranormal driven plot which I am not a fan of but I realised that if it's about ghosts and restless spirits haunting a serial killer, then you definitely have my attention.
I LOVED IT. Kicking myself because I've slept on this book for a while and when I started reading it, I couldn't stop. The idea of having a note "Ask for Andrea" in every bar dominated by men and creeps is truly something for us Women, like, having someone who cares is absolutely what the world needs right now.
Brilliant. If you're reading my review and still not flipping the pages of this book, you're wasting a good minute of your time. Haha.

“Ask for Andrea” was a long anticipated read for me, which looked to have the type of drama and suspense I seek when I’m really looking to get out of my own world and immerse myself into another. What’s more is, it was my distraction immediately following my unexplained seizure and it did pretty well for that. I guess in a sense, due to its proximity to me in times of strife, it’ll always hold a good amount of memories to it.
I can’t always review with my emotions, though. And if it weren’t connected to that period of time, I would have to say this book is pretty much…. Mediocre. I loved the concept of three scorned women uniting in the afterlife against one common enemy- their murderer. And though this was executed exactly as you’d expect it to be, and the writing was simple and sharp, it just felt so generic to me. Skye, Brecia, and Meghan were not especially loaded with personality. I mean I could tell them apart, but who these ladies are both in their corporeal life and their spiritual afterlife seems to escape me.
Side note- James? Jamie? Whatever you want to call him…. He is a regular Ted Bundy. Now, I understand that you cannot rationalize everyone’s actions, let alone a psychopathic serial killer who is a danger to the entire world including his own family, but the lack of motive or explanation becomes a burden of sorts. We know what he did, but nothing about why he did it, or where this behavior originated from. Although I suppose that he himself quite possibly doesn’t even know.
Was this a bad book? No. Not by any means. But in my opinion, it was a basic one. I’ve been reading horror and thriller for most of my life. It could be that perhaps I’m just a jaded reader, who is bound to see a lot of the same concepts repeated over and over. But my emotional connection to most of the story just wasn’t there. I love the themes of girl power and survival, even in the face of death, but I know that we could’ve gone a little bit deeper and I think it would’ve suited the story well.
I’ll be sure to give “Run on Red” a try too. I’m hoping to have a better experience with that one!

4 brilliant stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Not flawless, but quite enthralling. It completely gripped me from beginning to end, even though the storyline was fairy basic and not complicated.
The writing and storytelling were to my satisfaction.

I just wished that the three main characters had different traits.

This was a very quick read, as the chapters are very short. Although my paperback shows 293 pages, the book ends on page 263, but there are plenty of blank pages (so quite deceiving). There are 52 chapters. At least this work did not feel rushed.

Not flawless, but quite enthralling. It completely gripped me from beginning to end, even though the storyline was fairy basic and not complicated.

A surprising read.
Told from the perspective of three women who are ghosts all killed by the same man. One stays with her body, one visits her mum and the detective working the case and one haunts him. They all find each other and try to stop him.
At first, the paranormal aspect was a bit of a put-off. I wasn't sure that I was going to love that aspect, even though it's an interesting enough concept, but in the end it was a surprisingly good book, I wasn't hooked immediately, I'd say around half way through things really started to get exciting and I was on the edge of my seat until the end. A couple of stellar plot twists in there too.
I did find the three POVs confusing. The writing style was okay, I was able to connect but it wasn't my favourite. I kept mixing up the girls and their stories. I'm not sure how you'd achieve this any better than what the author did though. Perhaps it was the very short chapters that left me feeling like we didn't dive deep enough into one character before we moved onto the next and my brain just got a lil confused.
The other book I've read from this author didn't hit the clit for me, but this one proved she knows what she's doing. The rave reviews are definitely warranted. Granted, not my favourite thing in the world but if you are able to get hooked from the get-go (unlike I did) then I can see how this would shape up to be a five star read. Given the lacklustre start, I'm giving it a solid 4 stars.
