'Tom is one of my favourite people to taste wine with' - Oz Clarke
'Tom's love of wine is matched by his dedication to sharing down-to-earth insights with accessibility and fun' - Olly Smith
From grape to glass, this highly readable and charismatic guide will teach you everything you need to know to enjoy wine.
Wine is one of the most popular drinks across the globe, it brings people together and has a rich social and cultural history, it's also astoundingly delicious. But it can also be intimidating, confusing and unnecessarily complicated. It can be hard to know where to how is wine made? What's the difference between red and white? How do I know what to buy in a shop? Am I holding my glass correctly?
In this modern and accessible introduction to wine, Tom Surgey answers all these questions and more; doing away with old-school snobbery and teaching you how to get the most out of your favourite drink.
This was a nice quick intro to wine for those wanting to enjoy wine while being knowledgeable about it without necessarily committing to becoming a full sommelier. It is delivered in a funny and matter-of-fact way by the author who is able to briskly take you through the large variety of things involved in winemaking and drinking. I was a bit sad that it didn't include much about Portuguese vino verde/tinto but I suppose it would be difficult to hit them all in such a small book.
