Not bad, but not good

I got to about 50% before I had to stop. This is where a new character was introduced who was so annoying I couldn't look past all of the other issues. The plot starts off well. I was enjoying it for the most part even though it was a little boring. The MC is pretty beta. I don't know why most of these "Harem" authors write such beta MCs. The most important characteristic of Alfa and sigma males is their ability to control their emotions and actions. Most of these "Harem" MCs are written so they can't control their libido, even in situations that no one in their right mind would be thinking about sex or someone's body parts. I also get tired of the "I'm going to hide/not tell anyone about me" even though it would solve 90% of the plot issues the MC is dealing with.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. There was a good amount of world building we got to discover alongside the MC, and the plot flowed smoothly.

The MC is a man who has always seen what he figures are visions of imaginary creatures. And things seem to conspire to keep him from having successful relationships. He's on a date with a woman he really likes, but before they can kiss, something flies between them, startling him. With the mood ruined, he bids his date goodbye, and prepares to leave the carnival. But he hears a woman crying and singing, and something tells him he can't leave her. So he finds her, breaks her out of a cage, and they run for it. It turns out she's a fairy being sold at auction, and now things are going crazy around him. Magic is real, and he can perform it somehow. May you live in interesting times, indeed.

The fairy quickly becomes his lover, and they have some decent sex scenes. The woman he was on a date with is still interested in him, and comes to warn him of his impending troubles. Things get even more nuts when she is kidnapped by those looking for him, and he races to the rescue.

The book was very well written and edited.

Book 2 is already out, and I'm starting it now.

Had potential, till it didn’t.

I made it about 58% and genuinely got sick of the new character and MC. So the story was semi interesting for a bit, but it started to feel stalled and drug on. Also this isn’t “slice of life” this is a harem fantasy story since there’s conflict, bad guys, fighting, and more.

So about half way through the book Salem is introduced, and she is a raging C U Next Tuesday. Like I genuinely hated her within minutes of her introduction and it never got better till I quit. Every interaction with her got worse, till I honestly wished he had killed her in the first interaction. When you actively want one of the primary characters, I’m guessing love interests, to die it kind of ruins the story.

The MC feels like a doormat almost constantly. He lets them walk all over him and is just so passive it’s pathetic. The only time he shows a spine is when he is suddenly rushing to save someone, then he of course is the gallant white knight, but then he immediately becomes the welcome mat again. It’s just extremely off putting and not interesting or realistic.

Sad

The protagonist thinks about seeing things way to much and probably the get a dumped often because he thinks negatively way too often there is hardly nothing positive with the MC nkt.even when he has a fairy on hand .Now he is complaing about the fairy wanting too.mich sex and now that he has found out how.much she eats he is complaining about how much money ifmwill.cost.him . The straw in thenlast.few words from the MC is he is thinking who.he may go.to.As far as women when the fairy dumps.him . The protagonist is so negative its impossible for him to.be a happy person and such negative thoughts all of the time drive a normal.person a way but the fairy is not normal and has already saidnzhenwould.stay with the MC for life because he saved her life ....unfortunately he does notmbelieve.a fairy . Itmosmdifficult.to read with such continuous thoughts

More sex in this one than I figure the story needed, even being generous about "needed". Good enough to finish, but not much more. If there's a sequel (which it looks like there will be) I'm not sure I'll coninue.

As a note to myself more tha anything else, there seems to be a lack of stuff out right now that is really grabbing my attention. Could be me, could be a soft release season, could be both.

Good

Enjoyed the read have to say though it has one of those annoying morality moments when it comes to starting a harem. Everyone who picked up the book hopefully knows what they’re getting into and with his constant fantasies and drifting eyes the constant, plus obvious want from his first the constant (shouldnt be thinking like that or I cants) get slightly grating. A little is fine but how about actually talking it out instead of all the internal monologues

All the best of Danny Rogans talent and more of his easy humor.

Great Book. Not as serious as Psionic Elite or Queens Kestrel. It's fun like How I Met My Hot Alien Girl Friend. A bit of mysterious powers lurking in the background. Read this. His great writing style carries over from his more serious works.

Danny's series get better with each one.

I love all of Danny's books. With everyone, they keep getting better. This book is all great characters. It's a really good, well paced plot and a great balance of slice of life with a little action. I blew through this book, and it did not feel like 600 pages. I will early wait for the next one.

Everything by this author is fantastic and this is no different!

Everything by this author is fantastic and this is no different!

The story is great but the characters are better. They feel real and not empty shells like a lot of books in this genre. The romance and buildup and feelings between them is so real. I can’t wait for the next.

Urban Sorcerer

This is an excellent first book. It gives plenty of back ground to start the story., some magic and plenty of spice. No spoilers here, but I loved it . Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Interesting concept and worth reading

While I enjoyed the book and it moved fairly smoothly, I have to say that I've never been introduced to a MC that was a bigger pussy. I almost gave up on this book and can only hope he grows a set of balls in the next book.

An awesome beginning!!!

This story has everything you'd ever want. Great world building, intriguing characters and a slow build MC. I have always enjoyed this author's blending of fantasy we know and an unique to the authors version of the fantasy world.
