What another incredible anthology! Shocking sojourns is my favourite anthology and this one comes close aside from one story that wasn’t my cup of tea. However let’s look at each story!

Strike out RJ Roles - someone kidnaps a family of 4 and places them in a twisted game of baseball. For viewers at home to watch. This had me on the edge of my seat, hoping he could save his family but does he? This was an excellent way to start an anthology and I liked this one a lot with its unique premise.

Butterfly girl Nora Peevy - vengeance on sister and her girlfriend in a bizarre way was definitely a good follow up. As the title suggests he turns them into butterfly girls but MY GOD the descriptions of what he does to his sister made me cringe and feel like I was there

Blood tastes like metal Aiden Messer - 5 friends go to a festival together and take a stroll through the woods before it starts. A rich man invites them in for a drink. What could go wrong? Absolutely everything I’m telling you if you don’t trust people now you won’t after reading this 😂🫣 this was refreshing from Mr Messer as he’s a staple in the horror erotica genre but he’s shown his ability to offer a story with an impact without the erotica. NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER!

Pimple with an attitude Roman Neznayu and David Tamarin - a father has a fat fetish so his overweight wife is his favourite thing. Until he has a daughter. When the mother is murdered, he makes it his mission to make his daughter as fat as possible. When a pimple turns up on her bum that’s TALKING she keeps it there until it takes over. My god this had a bizarro feel and I am there for it. It had the humour it had the gross it had the full works. I didn’t know where this was bloody going and I am not disappointed with where it did 😂

The resentful raise Sarah DeRosa - a follow up from Sarah’s previous short in shocking sojourns 1!! I was thrilled to see this! 3 men come looking for the missing girl and their brother. This had me on edge just like vicarious vent did in the first. Sarah has a way with her words to glue your eyes to the pages and eagerly await what comes next. Her other books are also the same!

Sexual initiation Marcin Piotrowski - A prostitute grabs a last job before quitting. Little does she know what she’s getting into even though they are paying her much more. This was real weird. Not in a bad way as I actually liked the weirdness and bizarre feeling of this. It wasn’t what I was expecting at all and the ending leaves way for a further story which I would LOVE to read!

The toenail collection C A Baynam - An older lady requires 2 carers for her. She also has an odd collection of toenails. This is the one that wasn’t for me. To be honest the repetition of keratin got to me a lot and I swear I see it in my dreams 😂 the toenails end up causing a right mess and having a life of their own I personally found it a bit long, boring and the ending wasn’t great. BUT that doesn’t mean she isn’t a great author as she is! This one just isn’t for me

Somnambulism Nick Scarborough - Adopted daughter sleepwalks so Is heavily medicated. However she is doing unimaginable things while asleep. The ending I did work it out but in this case I didn’t think it was boring. I still enjoyed it and seeing how the story unfolded. Would love to see what happens going forward in this world!

Bread of life Sidney Shiv - Gay friend visiting with his female friend’s family for research. They have a bakery and he is keen to find out more. Jesus Christ. This goes from 1-100 real quick. Go into this blind. My heart was in my throat at one point. I thought everything was covered in the antho already at this point but Sidney goes above and beyond with creating a monster full of gore. If you fancy a bloody weird story but entertaining as anything this one is for you!

Terrarachnia Asher Dark - this reads as a fantasy sort of horror so a wild card in such an antho. Spider/ human crossbreeds in this made me feel extremely icky. However Asher knew how to make the image burn in your mind. After this short, I am impressed with the range Asher can provide from vampires, to spider mutants to endless gore in her other releases. This girl can write! Not a personal favourite of hers but still well done

Milk and honey RJ Daly - A man is a perv and takes pictures of his actions which his wife at home uses for her own pleasure. When he doesn’t come home one day she’s worried sick. We flicker between where he is and how the wife is feeling until the bitter end when typical RJ shoves a curveball no one saw coming. The way the torment was described made me want to scrub myself after reading it but it was yet another excellent addition to what RJ can do

The best disguise a monster ever wore Ash Ericmore - Dale our main character is driving to a location after serving his prison sentence. This was a big WTF story. Many questions were asked to myself while I was reading until the end when I was like oh shit. Feel like this one shocked me the most but I don’t know why when it’s Ash 😂

Termination notice Jason Nickey - Levi is working a new job. He went to his last destination where he sees some bizarre shite. Things you wouldn’t expect to see on a job. After witnessing a disturbing event he goes back home to his husband. Where he has restless nights from nightmares. And his nightmares come to life too. This gave me “smile” film vibes like a curse that never goes away and I love it

Hypnotic meltdown on planet motherfucker Stuart Bray - if the title didn’t get your attention I don’t know what will. Here we have a futuristic horror. Where humans can pay to have parts of them turned into robotics. Fighting against some creatures a troublesome soldier brings carnage to camp and risks the lives of many. This was a breeze to get through and a nice finishing touch on an antho.

The Shocking Sojourns anthologies are some of my favourites! The authors don't hold back, and I always love the illustrations of each story. It gives us readers a visual of them. This like volume 1 was incredible!

There were some authors in here I've never read from and I've instantly fallen in love with their writing. Each story is graphic, depraved, and so damn good! From special baseball games, Easter weekends, bizarre pimples that won't go away, old sinister curses, and super gross out stories, every story hits so well. Another excellent job done by all the authors and Sidney Shiv!

Full disclosure, I have a story in this book, but I'll still review the rest
This book was wild! The stories are all completely different from each other, and each one is wilder than the last! They're all super fun, with great characters and plots
