Not every love is meant to save you. Sometimes you have to save yourself.
Lydia is a Seer—one of the rare Enhanced Sense Adepts bound to the will of the Auctus, the unseen hands holding a fragile peace between nations. But with war on the horizon and rebellion festering in the shadows, even the clearest visions are met with suspicion. And the messenger is far easier to silence than the truth she reveals.
Haunted by glimpses of a dark fate, Lydia is ensnared in a ruthless game of shifting allegiances and power plays. The Crown seeks to wield her gift. The Auctus demands her obedience. And the rest? They want her dead.
In a world where trust is an illusion, Lydia must navigate a treacherous path between those who would use the impetuous yet fiercely loyal prince, the hardened guard whose watch burns into something more, and the cunning rival who covets her Sight for his own gain. Each holds a piece of her fate—but which will lead to salvation, and which to ruin?
To survive—and to protect the ones who matter most—she must master her power before it masters her. Because in a world where love is as perilous as betrayal, the greatest threat to her heart and her future may be the one she never saw coming.
Treasure. Weapon. Enemy. Lydia will be all three before the end.
Step into the spellbinding world of Deirdre Lyons, where dark intrigue, forbidden romance, and a kingdom on the brink of ruin collide in a tale of fate, power, and one woman’s vision that may be the key to rewriting the future.
Inspired by the Greek myth of Cassandra, and Croesus's failed prophecy of the Lydian Empire, A Clear Path explores the cost of knowledge, the burden of choice, and the danger of denial.
A Clear Path is an Adult Fantasy intended for 18+ mature audiences. Blood, violence, slow burn, steam, angst, betrayal, and adult language exist.
The story ends on a cliffhanger and is part ONE of the Senses Saga.
4 / 5 Stars I am glad to be back in the romantasy realm with “A Clear Path.” A quick synopsis for lay people: In this world, some people are Adepts, meaning they have enhanced senses (taste, smell, sight, touch, and hearing). Some people view Adepts as having gifts, while some think they are cursed. Lydia is a Visionary Seer. Not only can she see better than most (think seeing in the dark) but she gets glimpses of the future. She has been honing and training this sense and the interpretation of her visions her whole life. She is best friends with Ryo, the prince of Silvansi, and uh oh, Silvansi has a rebellion on their hands because they think the crown is too loyal and connected with Adepts. Ryo has his guard, Tiernan, watch Lydia for her safety as people are actively planning her demise. There’s visions of the future, shifting alliances, ever changing feelings and relationships, and so much drama.
You will probably like this book if you like: 👀 Royal court politics ✨ Magical powers based on the five senses 👀 Female and male best friendship ✨ Ladies who are badass 👀 Oops, we only have one horse and one tent ✨ A complicated love triangle 👀 An ending with a twist and cliffhanger.
My favorite part of this book was Lydia. Everyone treated her like a chess piece in their game – some treat her like a pawn while others treat her like a Queen – but in all cases, Lydia said “fuck that. I’m not a part of anyone’s game” and tried to set her own destiny. She was written with a lot of nuance. She was skilled with a sword and with her cerebral seeing abilities. She was sympathetic and kind but also didn’t put up with shit. She was short-sighted and biased and she was also able to maneuver in the political sphere. Ryo’s sisters, Iris and Kira, were also very well written and fun.
I think everyone was written with a lot of purpose. Sometimes, I have read books and feel like I am not sure if the author wants me to like or hate this character, but I think it was very clear here. And each character, no matter how good or how bad, had enough of a backstory that you could understand why they were acting the way they were. The villains were juicy and there were multiple people to hate.
I am not great at tracking political alliances among different kingdoms so I just had to go with the flow on that one (my brain would have needed to create one of those boards with red string connecting things to keep track of who wants what and with whom). I also sometimes found the prose a bit verbose and there was repetition about characters’ feelings. It can be helpful to have information repeated but I wanted to learn new things about them too.
I really like having three POVs in first person (Lydia, Ryo, and Tiernan’s). And I love that the way that Lydia clears her mind to process and see her visions is through breathing and grounding techniques that can also help with anxiety.
Thank you Deidre Lyons and Pen Pal PR for providing the eARC! All opinions are my own. Publication Date: June 26, 2025
Pre-Read Thoughts: Back to reading fantasy and confidently mispronouncing all the words. 🤣 Please never ask me to say them out loud.
You know when you read a book for the first time and think; fuck, this could be huge, well that’s how I felt reading a clear path. Deirdre Lyons is an amazing writer who had me feeling all the feels. This being her debut is honestly insane to me. My girl is so talented!
I HATED some of the characters, I shouted at the screen as I read, had it been a paper copy I likely would have thrown the book across the room. And I know full well this is exactly what Deirdre was going for! and I loved to hate them. I LOVED so much about this book. Lydia is such a great character, I loved the dynamics between her and Ryo, Kira, and Iris. Lydia is ride or die and we must protect her at all costs. I want to be her friend. I want to climb into the clear path universe and slap others for not valuing her more. The ending cliffhanger strangely gave me such a sense of peace and I can’t wait to keep reading and learn what happens next because I feel like my girl is moving in the right direction.
Highly recommend this book to lovers of fantasy, romantasy, and people who get overly invested in fictional characters.
I received a free copy of this book, the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
There hasn’t been a book in so long that made me feel this way. You know, when you keep yelling at your book? I haven’t gotten this irritated (in a good way) at a book IN FOREVER.
This plot was so complex, as were the characters, IN THE BEST WAY. Lydia, an enhanced seer, can basically see pieces of the future and has spent years trying to put them together alongside her elder. Ryo, the crown prince, who is a “playboy” in the sheets, does not feel prepared for the crown, and is trying to figure out the rebels getting closer to his life. Tiernan, the captain of the guard, is very held-back and restrained, but is very much in love with Lydia. I think?
This book was a good kind of clusterf*ck to my head. One horse adventures, war and fighting, rebellions, enhanced senses and lots of spotty visions, a dying king, and a “love triangle”? What could ever go wrong?
Hint; A LOT.
Thank you SO MUCH to the author and team for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book! I cannot wait for book 2 in the fall, and the rest of the series !!
Initially, the book was a bit slow for me when I first started. The best part of the book is the political intrigue and world-building. Lydia seer abilities and the others of her kind seem powerful but the dynamic between them and the royals seem tense with the rebellion. I am curious to know more about their world from that aspect.
I don't feel as a connection with all the characters, but it may stem from not having enough time with each of them. The book is multi POV with 3 narrators: Lydia, Tiernan, and Ryo. The romance between Lydia and Tiernan feels forced. His betrayal was surprising for me and the end of the book picked up real quick once they returned.
I am not a friends to lovers trope girl but I am now rooting for Ryo and Lydia. It is either that or have Lydia be a badass FMC who doesn't need a partner and keeps having the best platonic friendship with Ryo.
I enjoyed the book, but I would be perfectly fine with this just being a fantasy and not a romantasy.

I received this book as an ARC, so thank you for choosing me!
This book is beautifully written, lots of plot twists and the cliffhanger definitely makes me want to read the other books of the series.
I kinda dislike a few of the relationships throughout the book, because I felt they were childish. But that's who they are, and you really learn to know each character very well.
I'm sorry if this counts as a spoiler: I hated Tiernan from the start. So I wasn't really surprised at the outcome, and really happy the book ended as it did.

Wow. Just wow. This was a RIDE! I loved seeing Lydia’s Seer powers at work. I HATED Asher and j really hope that someone eventually kills him in a VERY painful way. I honestly wanted more of Lydia’s Seer visions and less whiplash with all of the characters emotions. I understand that her visions are serious business, so why isn’t anyone taking her seriously? Old people problems honestly. I hope that Ryo and his kingdom get revenge against the rebels in the future books. I think the treasure we are all seeking is going to be something useful to Adepts.
Thank you PenPal PR and Miss Deirdre for allowing me to read this book in advance! I enjoyed the ride!
I was swept into this world from the beginning, pulled in by these younger adults getting up to things that they are supposed to avoid. The relationships between "the lynx cubs" -- as the king fondly calls his children and our FMC, who is like a daughter to him -- was so much fun. There is banter, teasing, and just a real understanding & attachment between them all.
We get three points of view in this book: Lydia (Seer FMC), Ryo (Crown Prince), and Tiernan (Captain of Ryo's guard). Lydia and Ryo are both pressured to choose a spouse for political purposes, which is a point of contention for multiple reasons. Will their friendship become more? Or will Lydia fall for Tiernan, who she feels pulled towards? Or will everything as they know it all fall apart, leaving their romantic futures moot?
I don't want to spoil anything, but I have to say that I felt a bit frustrated at how some of this played out, as there were so many moments from the beginning that made me distrust a certain character. At times, I felt like Lydia teetered on the precipice of TSTL, especially as the stakes got higher and higher, and her visions clearer. I'm still not sure if I was supposed to pick up in things, or if there were supposed to be moments where I was as shocked by things as she was. Some of the clues just felt a bit too in-your-face, and then Lydia would focus on the wrong aspects of them!
This is the first book in a series, and one where I think there are just so many things to build on, so I won't let it bother me too much! I really enjoyed this, and am seriously intrigued to know what comes next! Especially for a debut, this is fantastic! :)
I received an ARC, which has no impact on my review. My opinions are 100% my own.
This was a really engaging and interesting fantasy/romance novel.
The magic system surrounding senses was very cool, and I especially liked the fresh take on what enhanced senses mean - like that someone with enhanced taste can 'taste' lies.
I enjoyed the characters and their relationships. Without spoiling, every character in this has complicated and conflicting loyalties, and it made for really great story telling.
I did feel like there were some pacing issues - the beginning was a bit rough, I was confused about some of the politics for a while, and I got whiplash from some of the decisions people made, but the last 25% or so was excellent. The climax and ending were absolutely steller - a cliffhanger that has me wanting more immediately.
Overall, I think this is a good book that is the start of a series that has potential to be really great. I will definitely tune in for the second installment.
"Thank you for being my friend when friendship is so hard to come by. Thank you for loving me unconditionally, even when I made it hard."
Thank you so much for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
***ARC Review*** A Clear Path (The Senses #1) by Deirdre Lyons Out now - Free on Kindle Unlimited
HELPPP, I need book 2 IMMEDIATELY! Even with several warnings that this book is a cliffhanger, I was not prepared!
This story has everything: Strong and sassy FMC One Bed/One Tent/One Horse Bodyguard Forbidden Love Slow Burn Romance Love Triangle Magical World Building Political Intrigue Unique Magical System Open Door Spice
You never quite know what you're gonna get in a new fantasy novel. Each world has different rules and magic systems. It can be a bit of a hurdle to get oriented and immersed. But I found myself interested and locked in fairly quickly here. It's not the magic that's hard to follow for me, it's the murky politics of a strange world (geography and political science were never strong subjects for me), so I just kind of go along as if I understand and hope for the best!
In the world of A New Path, the magic is based on one's Senses. Lydia is a Visionary Seer, a very rare and powerful Adept, in a world of Adepts (those with Enhanced Senses) and Laymen (ordinary people.)
We get three fist person POVs: Lydia (FMC, Visionary Seer), Ryo (Crown Prince of Silvanisi), and Tiernan (Captain of the Crown's Guard). Lydia and Ryo have grown up together, and are best friends and most trusted allies. They are under some pressure to marry for political gain, possibly to each other! At the same time, Lydia feels a pull toward Tiernan, the handsome and mysterious guard. I love a possible love triangle!
Meanwhile, their world is on the brink of Rebellion, and it seems everyone is hoping to obtain Lydia to use her as a tool to achieve their own questionable goals. Who can she trust? How will she survive?
Without spoiling anything, I will say, for a Visionary Seer who wants to he taken seriously, Lydia doesn't always seem to trust herself, as she ignores some pretty important Red Flags that I thought were pretty clearly waving! That being said, it was pretty hard to know who to trust and who to root for throughout the book! I HATED some characters, I LOVED others, I was so suspicious of EVERYONE, and there were times I felt BETRAYED-- And I think that is a good sign of a compelling story!
The finale of this book is pure chaos-- hard to know which way is up and what will happen next! We end up in an unexpected situation, teetering right at the edge of that metaphorical cliff! I am 100% invested in this story and can't wait to see what's next! I really think that this series could be HUGE!
4.5⭐ 2🌶️
I received an advanced copy of this book, and this is my honest review. Thank you to author Deirdre Lyons and Pen Pal PR for the ARC!
Deirdre Lyons’ A Clear Path, the first installment in The Senses series, draws readers into a richly immersive world that is as haunting as it is beautiful. From the very first pages, Lyons captivates with her poetic descriptions, creating an atmosphere that envelops you in its depths. One standout line captures this essence perfectly: “But they also welcome icy drafts at night, the wind whistling through cracks in the old glass like some wandering spirit come to whisper secrets.” It’s the kind of writing that lingers in your mind long after you’ve turned the page.
At the center of this mesmerizing tale is Lydia, a Seer and one of the rare Enhanced Sense Adepts caught in a tumultuous political landscape. With war looming and rebellion lurking just beneath the surface, Lydia's visions become both a gift and a curse, putting her in the crosshairs of those in power. The narrative explores the idea that “not every love is meant to save you. Sometimes you have to save yourself,” a theme that resonates throughout her journey.
The dynamics between characters are complex and compelling. Lydia navigates a perilous path, caught between a loyal yet unpredictable prince, a rugged guard whose vigilance transforms into something deeper, and a cunning rival who wishes to exploit her abilities. Each character adds a layer of intrigue, making it hard to predict who can be trusted in a world riddled with betrayal and hidden agendas. As Lydia wrestles with her powers and the demands placed upon her, the stakes continually rise, amplifying the story's tension. Lyons skillfully blends action with poignant moments of introspection, allowing readers to connect with Lydia's struggle for autonomy and survival.
The blend of thrilling plot twists and beautifully crafted prose ensures that A Clear Path is not just a story about magic and conflict, but also a profound exploration of trust, loyalty, and self-discovery. By the end, Lydia is positioned as a treasure, a weapon, and an enemy, embodying the complexities of her world.
If the rest of The Senses series is anything like this phenomenal debut, I cannot wait to embark on more adventures with these vividly written characters. Lyons has proven herself an author to watch, and I’m completely invested in the journey that lies ahead. Highly recommended for fans of richly woven fantasy and strong, intricate characters!

A Clear Path, but not so clear for our FMC! It took me a couple of chapters to get into this story, but once I gained a better understanding of what was happening, I was more than intrigued.
Lydia is a Seer. She's one of the rare Enhanced Sense Adepts bound to the will of the Auctus. But with war looming and rebellion on the rise, her visions are met with suspicion, no one truly believes her. Worse still, those fueling the uprising want her for themselves, and that could mean the end to the beloved seer.
To make matters worse, she must carefully navigate between those she can trust and those she cannot. With a very loyal prince by her side, what could go wrong?
A significant aspect of this story is that Lydia and Ryo, the crown prince, are both being pressured to choose a spouse solely for political reasons. I loved the dynamic between Lydia and Ryo; I was way more obsessed with their relationship than I was with Lydia and Tiernan, captain of Ryo’s guard. I did enjoy the banter between Lydia and Teirnan, but Teirnan was a walking red flag for me from the moment he was introduced. The love interest favoured Tiernan more, but for understandable reasons, it was a good choice for the plot, but I couldn’t get behind it for even a second. I love being able to connect with the characters in books, and although I enjoyed Lydia and Ryo, I had a hard time connecting with any of the other characters. They were interesting, but maybe just not the characters written for my interest. The reader gets a point of view from all three of these characters, and I had the most interest in Ryo’s point of view than anyone else’s. I lost interest in Lydia and Tiernan fairly quickly.
With that being said, despite not having a good connection with the characters, I did enjoy this story. It was interesting; a lot was going on to hold my attention, especially at the end. The ending was absolute chaos, and I live for a chaotic ending. I couldn't put the book down. It was compelling; I was hooked and yearning for more. It ended in a way that you want to dive into the second book to see what happens. This is Book 1 in a four-book series, so more adventures to come. I’m eager to see what happens next.
ARC Read. Book 1 of 4 in The Senses series. I love finding new authors, and am rarely disappointed, that streak continues of finding a great new author. OMG, I’m not sure who to trust! And there are three more books to come, I’ll be in the dark for a while! This was definitely worth the read. While reading, I formed a bit of a bond with certain characters, then something was said, and I questioned that character and their intentions, then things were said, and I thought “oh, yeah, that makes sense! Listen to that person!” Then something else happened and I was suddenly thinking, “no! Not that person, lies, all lies!” And now? I just don’t know who to trust anymore. I can see everyone’s point of view, even the ones that seem like they’re a little off kilter, a bit skewed and swayed by what they’ve been taught their whole lives. I’m just not sure if any of them have the whole truth! We are all taught certain things our whole lives, and when someone says we were taught wrong, we automatically go on the defensive. Well, that’s the way this is, everyone believes they are right, but not everyone can be right, someone in here is wrong. Maybe all of them are wrong? Maybe the truth lies somewhere in the middle? Then, throw in the balance of Power. There are those in the book who think certain people have too much of it, that they don’t deserve it, or haven’t earned it. Oh, I feel so sorry for all of them when we reach the end and everything comes to a head. I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds! A great read!
If magical world building is your vibe, then this book has it! Deirdre Lyons creates a world that I've never experienced before or read anything close to it.
Lydia is a Visionary Seer - an Adept with the ability to see better than most and sometimes see into the future. She is friends with Ryo, a prince whose kingdom is on the verge of rebellion. Ryo has his captain of the guard, Tiernan, watching Lydia for her safety as the rebellion grows ever closer. And this is our love triangle. Usually, I'm not a fan of love triangles.... except in romantasy. I don't know what it is about romantasy, but they just work better in romantasy.
Not only is the world building great and our three main MCs, but Lyons also keeps you on your toes with plot. You think you have it figured out and then hard left turn into the unknown. For a while (to me), it felt like romantasy was starting to become very repetitive and cookie cutter with no real fresh take - it's why I stopped reading it for a while. This did away with that feeling for me. AND THEN THE CLIFFHANGER.
I'm also not a fan of cliffhangers, but you know what? I'm ain't even mad about it and I'm already on board for book no. 2. (im)Patiently waiting!
Tropes: -Strong and sassy FMC -One Bed/One Tent/One Horse -Bodyguard -Forbidden Love -Slow Burn Romance -Love Triangle -Magical World Building -Political Intrigue -Unique Magical System -Open Door Spice
Thank you to the author and Pen Pal PR for the gifted copy
Okay, wow—A Clear Path seriously blew me away! For a debut novel, this was so impressive. The first half starts out a little slow, but it’s totally worth it because it’s setting up this layered, twisty world that had me asking so many questions. And then the ending?? My jaw actually dropped. I’m still not over it. I need book two like yesterday.
Lydia is such a strong, relatable lead—I loved watching her find her strength. And don’t even get me started on Tiernan and Finley… I gasped out loud more than once. Just when I thought I had things figured out, BOOM. Totally shocked.
There were a couple small grammar slip-ups (I spotted a “mem” instead of “me”), but honestly? That’s nothing compared to how much I enjoyed this story. I’m seriously so proud of the author for putting this incredible world out into the universe—it takes guts and talent, and she clearly has both.
This book has everything: slow burn tension, betrayal, mysterious powers, and that delicious kind of angst that keeps you flipping pages late into the night.
Big thanks to Pen Pal PR for the advanced reader copy—I’m hooked and already counting down to book two!
What To Expect: - forced proximity - spice and magic - forbidden love - love triangle - slow burn - inspired by greek myths
it took me a little bit to gwt into the book since it started off a little slow and a little confusing in my opinion but once it picked up and i understood what was going on i loved it!
there are so many twists and turns that keep you hooked. i loved the banter between lydia and tiernan but i wasnt a fan of him. my heart is with lydia and ryo. but the book does heavily lean more towards tiernan as the love interest but he just gives me tamlin vibes at times 😂. lydia is such an incredible character and i want to protect her with all of my life.
i am really looking forward to the next book especially after that cliffhanger. i need more and i need it asap.
thank you so much deirdre lyons and pen pal pr for giving me this opportunity to read this book for an honest review💚
At first, I wasn’t sure what I thought of a series centered around an enhanced-senses magic system. From the blurb I understood how Enhanced Vision might work, as with FMC Lydia with Visions of the future, but what about Enhanced Touch? Taste? What could possibly be the magical and political implications of those?
I have to admit my skepticism was unwarranted. The magic system in A Clear Path is unlike anything I’ve read before, but it fits perfectly in its world. I was captivated with Lydia’s story, told here through three different perspectives: Ryo, the charming prince who is like a brother to Lydia; Teirnan, Lydia’s bodyguard who is drawn to her despite his hatred towards Adepts; and Lydia herself. I was always engaged with the story, constantly having to reevaluate everyone’s motives. Knowing that the series is inspired by the myth of Cassandra ratchets up the tension. Well worth a read! I received an E-ARC from Pen Pal PR. This review is my own.
The writing? Poetic and alluring. The world-building and the lush descriptions keep you interested in the plot. There are three POVs from characters who are entangled in betrayal, rebellion, and dealing with political intrigue.
Lydia's path as a Seer is muddled by the lackluster response by people around her, refusing to believe in her visions. Only when she and Crown Prince Ryo cross paths does she find a kindred spirit of sorts. The connection between them grows as they face pressure to find spouses for political advantage amid a rebellion brewing in the background. If connecting with Ryo wasn't enough, Lydia's banter and relationship with Tiernan is also at play.
The plot kept my attention and I liked certain aspects of the characters and their relationships. I felt like the three POVs got to be a bit much at times; maybe keeping it to Lydia and Ryo would have helped with my reading experience. Still a good book!
*Thanks to Deirdre and Pen Pal PR for the early copy!
- - - Read this book if you like: □ forced proximity □ love triangle □ lovers to enemies □ one horse/one bed □ open-door spice □ unique magical system
Thank you, Pen Pal PR, for the ARC!
Some of these tropes are my absolute favorite tropes. I just have a love-hate relationship with the love triangle trope. It can sometimes be cringey or a tad annoying to me, but I liked the love triangle in this book. To be honest, I almost ditched the book because of the love triangle, but I am so glad I gave it a chance!
The love interests were quite interesting. I did not expect the lovers to enemies trope!
The author warns at the beginning of the book there is a cliffhanger and, oh boy, I was flabbergasted! The last part of the book has so many action and hair-gripping moments. It was an amazing ending, and I can't wait to read the sequel.
Thank you to @lyonswriteslove and @penpalpr for giving me this great ARC opportunity.
A Clear Path by Deidre Lyons ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️/5
Review: Truly what a fantastic first book in the series. A Clear Path has all my favorite things of a good romantasy: a strong FMC (Lydia), epic world building, a unique magical system, and political strife. Lydia is a Seer, soon to have her 25th birthday, and get an epic promotion to Master Seer, something she’s always desired. Her best friend is the crown prince, Ryo, and their relationship is my favorite. The political conflict in this book is epic and made the story for me. Not everyone is what they seem 🤯 Such an epic cliffhanger of this one has me itching to read book two - can’t wait!
Some delicious tropes 👇 💜 Forced Proximity 🖤 Love Triangle 💜 Forbidden Love 🖤 Open Door Spice 🥵 💜 Unique Magical World
If you’re looking for a fierce female main character, Lydia in A Clear Path should be a front runner! As someone blessed with an extraordinary gift, Lydia still finds herself being doubted. Throughout this story she constantly is fighting others and herself to trust and feel worthy while staying true to who she really is. Through it all she puts faith in those around her, always offers to help other adepts, and continuously proves she is more than anyone expects her to be! A Clear Path will have you yelling, crying, wanting to punch things, and will make you question everything you’ve read. You’ll be shocked and some of the surprising twists and ultimately, you’ll feel like part of this world!
This book took me on a ride but in a good way. There was brewing rebellion, magical visions, love interests and battles. I did not know who to trust in this book and several times I definitely made the wrong choice. At some points, I did not even trust Lydia and she is the FMC. She was a good character. Definitely strong considering all that happens to her. I was not a fan of Tiernan even from the beginning of the book. He was not very charismatic to say the least. I hope we do not see much of him in the next book. I really enjoyed all the plot twists this book has. They definitely made me work mentally. The ending was super intense. I can't wait to read what happens next!
This book blew me away. It had the perfect combination of slow burn romance, betrayals, and friendships. The monarchy vibes mixes with fantasy when “Seers” and other adepts (people with enhanced senses) are at court and being hunted in Silvanisi. Our FMC, Lydia, is nearly a Master level seer and must determine who she can trust while still protecting those she loves. This was a nail biter. Just when you think you know what is happening and who you can trust, the outcome is changing. I enjoyed that there was enough romance/spice to make it enjoyable without taking away from the plot. A Clear Path wasn’t a lite read and I definitely had to pay attention to what was happening as there were lots of unexpected changes. I can’t wait to read the next books in the series.
I received this book as an arc, thank you for giving me the chance to read this! I really enjoyed this book!! It follows Lydia, who is training to be a Master Seer & her best friend Ryo, the Prince, and his two sisters. The dynamic between Ryo & Lydia, I loved! You can be best friends without anything else. The whole time I could picture where they were, which is a plus for me. There were multiple times I was caught off guard or got something wrong! Especially the end- it left me wondering, what wait? Is he friend or foe? I’m very intrigued to see what the next book is about and how it’ll all play out. Overall I really enjoyed this book.
Thank you Pen Pal press and Deirdre Lyons for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.
3.75 rounded up.
This one has a lot of interesting plot points and twist!
The characters are very complex and they keep their secrets and loyalties close to their chest making it hard to figure out who to trust. I definitely look forward to getting to know the characters more as the series continues.
I picked up this book not knowing what to expect—and was instantly hooked. What usually takes me a bit to warm up to grabbed me from page one. I devoured the entire thing in a single day and am already counting down to the next in the series. The way the story builds, slowly unraveling into a brilliantly orchestrated chaos by the end, kept me riveted. I found myself racing to keep up with the as everything spiraled. Cant wait for the release of the next book!
This book was a journey, an adventure, and a world so well made that I could feel the chill in the air or the sun on my skin. Full of passion, emotion, and heartbreak my attention was kept fully as well. I loved how descriptive it was and the care that was put into every detail and description. The ending was a cliff hanger that makes me glad I have the second book too, and I feel I will wish the third was out already when I finish it as well.
The whole enhanced sense me really drew me in. But having the Visionary sense like Lydia really put you in a dangerous place - A perfect tool for either power or destruction. Too much at stake especially for power hungry people. The politic is just wild! And the twist are annoyingly insane! At some point i just feel like stabbing some of the characters. But i absolutely love the bond between Lydia and her found family.
This book has such a strong plot and really great characters! I love the dynamic between Ryo and Lydia, I also haven’t read a good lovers to enemies plot in a while. The ending had a great hook, and while in the beginning chapters I was confused on the complete whiplash between Tierreans love for Lydia, I now understand it better after the ending!
I look forward to reading the next book!

I really enjoyed this book. It really kept my interest and could t out it down. I really thought that Lydia and Tiernan were going to be together not that he would turn on her. Ezra turned out to be a better person than I thought he was. Hopefully Rho doesn’t die and he comes for Lydia in the next book . Since this ended on a cliffhanger.

You know those books that are so good and have you so invested and locked in and then it ends with a cliffhanger that makes you want to throw said book across the room? Yeah, that’s this book in a nutshell! I WANT SO MUCH MORE!!! I’m so glad there’s more to come because I loved this book, definitely recommend!
