They call me a beast. But she’s the first thing I’ve ever wanted to protect.
After New York, I’m on the run with nothing but my bike, my rage, and a price on my head. When my engine dies in Shadow Ridge, I expect trouble. I don’t expect her.
Savvy Greene is all curves and fire and small-town stubborn, fighting like hell to keep her family’s diner alive. She should run from a monster like me. But she doesn’t. She looks me in the eye—and dares me to stay.
I don’t belong in her world. But when someone threatens what’s hers, they’re about to learn why I was caged in the first place.
I was born to destroy. Now I’ll burn down the whole damn town to keep her safe.
VARGAN is a gritty, obsessed-protector orc MC romance with enemies-to-lovers tension, small-town stakes, high heat, and a beast of a man who’s never known mercy—until her.
USA Today Bestselling author Reagan Phillips writes insta-love, obsessive alphas, curvy heroines, and happily-ever-afters that hit hard and fast. Given my love of the green guys, I took a chance on this book. A new author and a great read. This did bring back memories of a similar theme but with dragons. Vargan is an Orc that once his people crossed over, they were technically used by human military. His life in his new family brotherhood is heavy with emotion. Wrongly accused of murder, he flees to a small town to lie low. Unfortunately, the tyrant and his nasty son hold power over the townsfolk. Savvy runs her father's eatery, holding out against the attempts to buy her out. There is a great story on the towns history and wonderful side characters. These two slowly come together when Vargan is forced to stay to fix his bike. Each has a past that for a while, holds them back but the more time together and Vargan defending her, they win the fight to be together. There is some great 🌶🌶🌶 and touches of humour. You need to grab this to read in more depth, to see what life throws at this couple, but it is worth it in the end. I wanted more and especially enjoying the brief interaction between Hammer and Helen! 😁 I'm hoping they'll get their story as well. 😊 I did get an Arc copy of this but also purchased a copy. I can't wait for more of these Orcs and their mates. 😊
New author to me and a new genre. I don’t normally read the MC books, but I am glad I read this one. Shadow Ridge, GA, a shrinking town that is being kept as it is by one woman, Savvy. The diner she works at is her family’s and she will not give it up for anything, especially someone who wants to take it apart. She meets Vargan, an Orc who is trouble, but seems to draw her in. Great story, love the characters and the MC part of it too. An enjoyable read!.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 Stars — A Sweet, Protective Green Delight
Given my love for the green guys, I took a chance on Vargan by a new-to-me author, and wow, what a pleasant surprise! Reagan Phillips brings us a hero who is everything monster-romance fans live for. Vargan is sweet, protective, and loves with absolutely everything he’s got. Yummy doesn’t even begin to cover it.
I really connected with Savvy, too. Her instinct to take care of everyone except herself felt so relatable. Watching her slowly learn to accept care and affection in return—especially from someone as devoted as Vargan—was incredibly satisfying.
The story is fun, engaging, a little emotional, and full of that cozy-but-alien charm that makes this subgenre so addictive. For a leap of faith with a new author, this turned into a win, and I’ll definitely be picking up more from Reagan Phillips. More sweet green heroes, please! 💚📚
I got this book for free on stuff your kindle days.
I love the cover it's looking good. I know what to expect I like how it's drawn. Long time since I gave 5* to a book. For me at least. I have finally nothing to complain. Villain of the book is written really good I hate him so it worked. Mmc is cute with reasonable strong backstory. They have emotional connection real reasons and they share and communicate! Now I know I like orc romances :D FMC is strong and cool. She is smart not a brainless maiden in distress. I agree she is a orc at heart. I had lots of fun reading this I gonna buy rest of the books definitely on my kindle . My only complaint is I wish it would be longer. ❤️
Vargan is the first book in the Ironborn MC series. I have read most of the books by Reagan Phillips but this is new territory for her....Orcs. I was not sure what to expect but I was up for the exploration and to see what would unfold as I opened the book. I have to say that I loved the story of Savvy and Vargan. He is sweet, even if he can be a "beast" when provoked or when his protective side kicks in. That is how he meets Savvy, standing up for her and protecting her even though they do not know each other at the moment. She is a young woman who is just trying to keep the family diner and farm going. But in the small town of Shadow Ridge, Georgia that can be difficult with a Mayor that runs it like his own little fiefdom. Vargan may be trouble with a capital "T" but he is so much more and Savvy sees that, even as she is surprised by it. Together they find a connection that only grows stronger. Will Vargan put down roots with Savvy or will the open road keep calling his name?
Vargan is the first book of the Ironborn MC series by Reagan Phillips. This is a monster/paranormal romance series, which as one can see from the cover, our motorcycle club characters are orcs.
Vargan is on the run after a false police report and finds himself stranded in a small town. When he meets Savvy, the owner of the town's small diner, he wants to do anything to help her, even if it puts him in danger of arrest and jail time. Vargan quickly finds himself in small town politics and finds friendship amongst the locals, and intense chemistry with Savvy.
Savvy is a tough human. She is working hard to keep her family's business afloat, for herself and her brother, even with the town's villains who want to sell large tracts of land to developers breathing down her throat. Meeting Vargan helps bolster her determination to not fail. The fact that Vargan supports Savvy is very much an "awwww" moment.
I'll be keen to see what the Ironborn MC brings to town now that Vargan is ready to settle down with Savvy.

Vargan had to leave NY after he hurt a human that was beating on his girlfriend. That should have taught him not to get involved but here he is in Shadow Ridge Georgia, getting involved when these two suits come in and harass one of the waitresses. Not only does the come after him with a cattle prod but runs over his bike.
Savvy has been trying to hold to her family's diner and farm but mayor seems like he will never give up. When the Orc, Vargan, comes into her diner, she did not expect him to stand up for her. She feels she can trust him but he will not be here for long, just passing thru.
I loved this book, the characters had been thru a lot and were the perfect piece for the other. Looking forward to the next in the series.

This was an awesome series opener that I hope we have lots of books to come ;D Vargan is an orc on the run for helping a woman being attacked, only to have her falsely accuse Vargan of instigating her attack. Sheesh. He stops in at Savvy's diner and quickly finds himself embroiled in ugly small town politics that leave him with a crushed bike, more wounds and a connection to Savvy. I really enjoyed how strong she was, fighting for the town, basically on her own and doing what's right. Vargan fought his feelings, knowing he was supposed to leave, but she did, too. When they finally caved, the spice was hot ;P There's all kinds of action, drama, danger, emotions, MC brotherhood, family and love woven throughout. I really haven't done justice to the reading ride but it was great. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book :D
Vargan had me hooked right away he didn't trust humans for good reasons. but the moment he saw savvy, she wasn't like anyone he ever met, and she treated him with respect without fear and judgment.
savvy is such a strong and genuine person who loves her town and the people she cares for and won't give up without a fight.
the built up and connection they had but not wanting to let the other in due to what they both went through.
Willie, for a teenager he had respect for his sister, who had been raising him since their father died all on her own.
victor and royce suck and power hungry. hated them so much .
I fell in love with how it was written and just the right amount of built-up and tension & bonds everyone shared .the sad past of Vargan had me choking up a bit.
Vargan and Savvy find love in all the ways they've convinced themselves are weaknesses. But love conquers all right? ... sometimes it does. I was so taken by their story, the growth of their relationship and the depth of their characters. I also loved the support and interaction of the secondary characters; few things will turn me off of a book, or at the very least, not keep me invested like flat secondary characters. But here they were so impactful; a true support system.
I can't wait to read more by this author and more of this series.

What a great story. Vargan is an Orc MC member on the run from a trumped up murder charge in NY. He arrives in Shadow Ridge to get food before moving on but in the diner he ends up protecting Savvy who owns the diner from two men trying to take over the town for developers. The mayor and his nephew run over Vargan's bike to try and force him into submission. This is well-written, entertaining and action-packed and should not be missed.

This was actually a good quick story, but with this storyline, it could have been so m7ch more. If the storyline had been expanded on to create a full book and more details added to create a few action scenes, then I would have loved it. I do prefer my books a bit more grittyer, so this is a me problem. It's an easy to read MC, and the paranormal part isn't heavy either. The characters are appealing, but that's because in a short book, you can only get a quick view of them. Can't complain as I said for a short book it is a good read.
was waffling between 3 and 4 stars but the story was well written. There was spice just a mild 🌶️🌶️🌶️. It's an insta love thing and fast paced. I wasn't crazy that there wasn't more orc related aspects. I know they came over as children and maybe didn't have the knowledge of their culture but I mean surely it could have been worked in somehow. It's just a really tall green dude with tusks. Not much orc to the orc. You could easily swap it out for different monsters was my problem. other than that I loved it.
Orc Vargan end up on the run after an incident, and ends up in shadow ridge in need of a job and place, Savvy had been doing her all to protect her parents diner from developers, Vargan is the first one on her side but what happens when things change between them, and she learns just why hebwas on the run. Well written steamy orc/human, desires action sweet romance.

Vargan is on the run and ends up in Savvys little town. He gets injured protecting her so she takes him home to tend to his cuts. Soon one night on her couch turns into a few weeks. He pushes her away thinking he is doing what is best. But after they give in to their urges he tries to leave only instead goes back to save her again. While they may be an unlikely couple I do love their story!.

The book I’m reviewing today is titled, Vargan which is the first installment of the Ironborn MC book series written by Reagan Phillips. This is my first read from this author and I was pleasantly impressed. I have to say that I enjoyed the romance story of Savvy and Vargan. He is a sweetheart, even if he can be a "beast" when provoked. Looking forward to the next in the series.

This is such a fast paced and addictive read. It is a fairly short and quick read about Vargan and Savvy. This stats off the new paranormal "Ironborn MC" series with monsters and action. Vargan is on the run when he meets the feisty, local diner owner, Savvy. This such a good story. I really like how it develops as well as the the action, angst, passion and so much more. If this story is any indication of what is in store for this new MC series I cannot wait to read more.
Orc bikers - so much fun! I'm super curious about how the orcs got to earth - did I miss that book or will we just find out more in future books? Do they have the same rights as humans? Can they have kids with humans? Looking forward to more.
This quote is definitely appropriate for our time: “What can I possibly do against the machinery of a system that's been designed to crush people like Vargan? People like me?”
I am not usually a fan of MC romance, before this I found the genre too full of angst. But this is such a sweet and endearing read. A collision - two takes on outsiders and oppression, both of forgotten America and the paranormal clash of Orc culture. Blended into a perfect spicy and sweet short read. Excited to see more from the Ironborn MC, and the small town that has welcomed them.
Book 1 of Ironborn MC story for Savvy Greene and Vargan. Wow talk about wild and interesting stuff with two characters that will have you cheering for them and jumping for joy when the bad men get what’s coming to them.

I really loved this book! Vargan is now my current book boyfriend! He's sweet, protective and he loves with everything he has. Yummy! I related to Savvy and her need to care for everyone else except herself. Great story, great characters and a wonderful HEA!.

I have a thing for orcs and Mcs, and this book not only fed it but made me want more.
Vargan is just what I thought he would be.. imposing, protective, and downright alpha. Just what a girl needs. I love Savvy. She was perfect in her strength, but her vulnerability showed through even during her turmoil.
Part of the Ironborn MC series. I generally don't like MC plots but this one has Orcs. Savvy and Vargan meet and Will they have a HEA? Want to read the next book.

This is an interesting read, especially the MC angle. I thought Savvy is a strong woman who fights for what she believes in. Vargan is a great character who defends Savvy and during this process they get closer. This is a great story with plenty of steam and tension. 4 stars!
This was a sweet story and I love the relationship between the two main characters especially when they finally give in to their feelings. I hope the series will continue with the other members of the MC.

Very cute. About an Orc who has trouble follow him everywhere who stops in the wrong town but you could almost say it’s the right town because he meets Sivvy and together show that there is kindness and love is all that matters. Spicy scenes are like a level 1 maybe 2, very easy read cool concept
