Wicked Devotion: A dark MMF military romance

Rate this book
They didn’t plan to take her. Now, they’ll never let her go.

Lily
Seconds are enough to destroy the life I thought I had. As my husband’s secrets put a target on my back, I find myself at the mercy of two men who shatter the rest of my so-called truths. Trapped between inevitable harm and unknown danger, our deal for my safety slowly shifts to something more. I should escape their hold before it’s too late—but good girls don’t run unless told.

Max
Keeping people safe is my job, and the perfect justification to coax the frightened girl into staying with us. I know keeping Lily will challenge what Logan and I have, but maybe it’s time to confront the things we never say out loud.

Logan
Happy endings are for kids, and for hopeless romantics like Max. The walls I've built around myself are there for a reason—to keep the shadows in and people out. Max made me negligent, but he knows my affection comes at a price. Beautiful, unquestioning loyalty; until Lily comes along and turns our world upside down.

✨✨✨ Wicked Devotion by Ivy Porter (@ivyporter.author), is the second book in her Wicked Love series. Release: July 1st ✨✨✨

Tropes:
🖤 dark military romance
🖤 MMF ⚔️
🖤 morally gray MMCs
🖤 grumpy x sunshine²
🖤 found family
🖤 slow burn
🖤 trauma/healing
🖤 obsessive MMC

I was beyond excited when I heard that the second book in the Wicked Love series was finally being published. I dove right in, and Ivy did not disappoint. Even though I read book one almost a year ago, the story was easy to pick up again.

This time, the plot centers on Max and Logan—both in the military, both in the same unit. Logan is your classic grumpy, tattooed a$$hole, convinced he doesn’t deserve affection, let alone love. Meanwhile, Max is pure sunshine, effortlessly balancing out Logan’s storm clouds—like a golden retriever trying to befriend a feral wolf.

Lily is trapped in a loveless marriage, unable to understand why her husband no longer cares. But after a brutal home invasion and the devastating truth that follows, her world is shattered—forcing her to consider Max and Logan’s unexpected offer.

I loved the dynamic between Max and Logan, especially the way a hardened soldier like Logan can submit so beautifully—it was downright mesmerizing. When Lily steps into their world, the tension simmers before inevitably reaching a boiling point. Logan isn’t just edging Max and Lily—he’s keeping the readers on edge too. And when he finally decides it’s time… be prepared.

If you love action, tough **touch her and die** energy, and sizzling tension—this book is exactly what you need.

Quotes:
I wish I could keep him like this. Chained somewhere, with a pretty collar around his neck, ready to be fücked every hour of the day. He would be safe, and I wouldn’t have to worry about him so goddamn much.

I try to push him away, and Max gives me the finger, resting his head in the crook of my neck. Always making way for himself. In my bed, in my mind, in my heart, like it’s his fucking birthright.
“I can’t stand you.”
“I can’t stand you either,” he replies, putting his hand in mine.

⁉️QOTD: Which book couple has given you the best **grumpy/sunshine** dynamic? ⁉️

ARC provided in exchange for honest review.

The second book in the Wicked Love series is a very enjoyable read. This is Logan and Max's arc (characters introduced in Wicked Little Game), and they are the ultimate in Grumpy x Sunshine - Max couldn't be more Golden Retriever if he tried. Adorable. After a job, they find themselves interrogating Lily, the con's innocent -in all ways possible- wife. After a (well meaning) abduction by Max, the three of them have to adjust to living together. Lily's eyes are opened to sexuality, Max just wants them both to love him, and Logan needs to learn how to open his heart.

I adored the characterisation of Max and Lily, and whilst I understand Logan's character and the reasons for him being the way he is, it was very hard to take to him. I was almost at the end before I found myself liking him. The plot is well paced, action packed and full of suspense, as well as a healthy dosing of spice. I recommend people check out the
content warnings, as there are things like knife play, strong sexual domination and the violence you would expect from an undercover military unit vs a gang.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review this book!

(English is not my first language, so I’m sorry if this review is not perfect.)

I was lucky to read this book before it is officially out, and I have to say, I really liked it. One thing I want to mention first is the writing style. For me, as someone who doesn’t speak English as a first language, it was easy to follow. The author doesn’t use very difficult words or overly complicated sentences, which made the reading experience very smooth and enjoyable for me.

Just like the first book in this series, this one was also an easy and quick read. It’s not a book that really touched my heart in a deep way, but it did fulfil it. Sometimes you don’t need something that completely breaks you or changes you—you just need something comforting, and this book was exactly that for me.

The characters are written very well. They feel real, like real people with real problems and emotions. At the beginning, some characters felt a bit like stereotypes. For example, Max is like the typical “golden retriever” guy—always smiling, always happy. And Logan is the classic “broody” guy, who doesn’t show his feelings and tries to look strong all the time. But as the story goes on, both of them show other sides of themselves. Max has moments where he feels sad and not so perfect, and Logan has moments of weakness or doubt, which made him feel much more human.

I also really liked that every character had their own problems to deal with, their own insecurities, and their own backstory. This created a group of very different personalities, which I think is great because every reader can find at least one character to connect with. This made the book feel even more real and meaningful to me.

The spice in this book was also really well written. It didn’t feel forced or cringe, but very natural and enjoyable. I have to admit, I loved the mix of pet names and the roughness. (I was a bit jealous of Lily sometimes 😆)

The story kept me interested from the beginning to the end. There were funny moments, sweet moments, but also some emotional ones. I absolutely loved the tender ending. It felt soft, warm, and left me with a smile.

If you enjoy books with well-written characters, realistic emotions, and a writing style that is easy to follow, then I think you will enjoy this one.

Some of my fav moments 🖤

Lillian turns her head to look at him, but a click of my tongue stops her. She flinches, and I lean a little closer.
"Scared of me?" Her teeth dig into her plump lower lip, tempting me to have a taste. "You should be."

"You're gonna help me with paperwork tomorrow, sweetheart. Need to make yourself useful while you're staying with us." My lips brush over the shell of Lily's ear, and she tenses.
"Not a word to Max. It's our little secret."
She nods and tries to appear unfazed when I start kissing her neck.

"Stop thinking about him. That's an order. Don't mourn something so worth-less."

"You want to keep being my good boy, don't you?"
"Yes, sir," I mumble, and Logan rewards me by softly patting my cheek before he leaves.

I wish I could dive into this book and lives in their story.

I remember telling one of my friends here that MMF or why choose would pass my rating system with flying colors lol I’m always gonna eat them up. Logan, Max, and Lily’s dynamic in this book? Fire. Each one of them as a person have solid characteristics, background stories, and great lines. Together? Phewww, the spice was spicy.

Lily, she’s so delicate and obedient. That’s why Max was so drawn to her in the first place. Because even with his golden personality, Logan with all his jaded parts will always set hard boundaries in their relationship. Max is the type who serves to please and having Lily depending on him was like finally filling the gap Logan left after every neglection.

I didn’t expect the book to be this angsty. This one has multi POV. However, Max and Logan’s POV always had me giggling with their sarcastic humor yet also heartache. Like, the self-doubt was STRONG in this book, even sometimes in Lily’s POV. You can immediately sympathize with her, in love with Max entire personality, and absolutely will want to punch a wall by seeing Logan’s behavior.

But, I’m always looking for the funny and warmy (is that even a word?) feelings every time the team—the Task Force Phoenix, were in the room together. I know they would mostly bickering and threatening each other, but as Max said; it is one precious dysfunctional family.

I love that the pacing was a bit fast but everything didn’t feel rushed. Their development felt realistic even though at certain times Lily was just there, like go girl give us nothing (but I don’t really care about that, I was vibin). Fortunately, I’m a sucker for angry love confession, and when Max and Logan did that to settle the thing between them I was like; yeah! Kick the L-word out him, Max!👏🏻

A hint of suspense at the conflict was good. And it was satisfying to see how they finally come together after all with full acceptance and compassion.

This dark military romance surprised me in all the best ways with its complex characters, action and steamy spice. Logan is a grumpy, emotionally repressed career military man who refuses to entertain the idea of love or a HEA for that matter. Max is his sunshine and loves Logan but knows that’s something Logan can’t offer him even though he craves it. Instead Logan dribbles out attention as affection and takes what he needs from Max who gives it to him freely. When a mission leaves a betrayed, naive woman in danger, Max instantly decides he wants to keep her and that she’s the one that will complete his relationship with Logan.

I love the way Logan’s grumpy, angry persona begins to crack under the overwhelming protective feelings he has for Max and Lily. Her softness and innocence brings a contrast to the dark and dangerous life Logan and Max live in and through that juxtaposition, a bit of peace and lightness comes into their lives. Max’s character is strong and he knows how he feels and what he wants—which is Logan and Lily. As the story unfolds, I love how Lily becomes the glue that cements the bond between them all.

If you love a grumpy, strong morally grey MC, two sunshines and a touch him/her dark military romance with action and sizzling spice, then I would add this to your TBR now.

Thank you, Ivy Porter, for the advanced copy. As always these are my own honest thoughts and opinions.

My Oh My!

Where to start? Wicked Devotion is basically what happens when a military action movie, a trauma bond, and a threesome walk into a bar and say, "Let's ruin each other life's, especially this woman's life... and then fix it."

Lily, our FMC, finds out her husband is trash, a liar, and also apparently wanted by dangerous people. Like girl, not only did he give you bare minimum husband energy, he also brought assassins to the marriage? Jail.
Enter Max and Logan, two hot military men with lots of baggages, I don't even think I can count them. Max is our golden retriever who would die for you with a smile, and Logan is our Dark, moody, trauma-infused, annoying, sleeps with one eye open like a dog that's been through things character. Max got obsessed with Lily, and decided to keep and protect her. Protect her? Yeah. Emotionally? ..... Sure.

This book is dark, spicy, and chaotic. The amount of times I paused the book to connect with nature needs to be studied. For real. And it's not even because the book was all dark, it was because the characters made me want to drown underwater. Logan and Lily Especially.. Ughhhh. Logan was not written to be "lovable", he was written to be complicated, insufferable, intense, problematic. He made me crashout, especially the scene where he embarrassed Lily in front of multiple people just because she wanted to talk and sort things out between them. His relationship with Max was so toxic, I was waiting impatiently for when he would lose him and Lily. And as for Lily, she was just there. There was nothing special about her character, aside the fact that she was sweet, beautiful and soft? I wasn't able to connect with her and I think it had to do with how the characters and pacing of the book felt uneven. The only main character I was rooting for was Max, he was kinda cool and so sweetttt.

Overall, they made it work. Logan fell for Lily in layers, became so protective and obsessed with both Lily and Max, and vice versa, so it's all good, I'm rating this book a four outta five stars, because while it was interesting and kept me occupied, it also made me crashout in a way I didn't like. Mainly because of the characters and maybe the plot too? I was even cooking up new plot for the book in my head😂.

Anyway, if you like dark romance, chaotic "why and what is happening" energy, military men with trauma and abs, threesome, Spice, morally gray characters, messy relationship, Danger, then this book is for you. It's not "safe romance", it's the kind that makes you question characters' choices while still rooting for them. So if You're reading this, buckle up, get your snacks ready and be ready to touch grass every now and then.

Enjoy!!!!

Wow, this is an awesome book! If you love MMF, including MM, it's a definite must read, especially if you adore grumpy/sunshine dynamics like I do, because Logan and Max could be the definition of these words. Their personalities are so different and yet I love them both, individually and together. The addition of Lily brings that little bit of softness to complete their little threesome - perfection!

At the beginning, there's an introductory chapter for us to get a feel of how unhappy Lily is in her 'previous' life before we're thrown straight into the action in the second, kicking off the events of the book. No messing around with unnecessary filler chapters, and I really appreciated that. There was always something going on; whether it was to do with developing the main characters' relationships or the ongoing storyline, there wasn't one dull moment.

I really loved how this book was written. There's a bit of everything thrown in - sarcasm, humour, jealousy, pain etc. The characters' internal monologues are fantastic, and there were so many moments where I was chuckling at their thoughts. Logan's, in particular, were hilarious, though Max's were top notch too. There are so many cracking quotes in this book; it was so hard to choose just one to include, but here's one of my favourites:

'He's like a sickness. Spreads in my body, clawing its way into every cell. Tendrils of the thing he calls love, force themselves inside every molecule of my being, and I hate myself for wishing he feels the same. That I've possessed him just like he possessed me.' (Logan)

While I loved the three of them together, I did feel that Max and Logan had something special. As soon as they were introduced and started their bantering, I was completely invested in their relationship. Their scenes together are so powerfully emotional; I can't get enough of them. Logan's overprotectiveness of Max tells us so much about his feelings, whether he'll allow himself to admit it or not, as is the case for a long time.

I will say, in my opinion, it would have been nice to see a bit more of Lily's involvement, although I realise this was difficult because the storyline didn't really allow for that, and everything fit together well as it was. But this is such a minor thing, I still think this is a fantastic novel, and strongly recommend you give it a go.

Ivy Porter's "Wicked Devotion" is a gripping dive into the shadowy world of dark military romance, where unexpected captivity leads to an undeniable connection. This MMF (male/male/female) story promises high stakes, emotional upheaval, and a dangerous dance between desire and survival.
The narrative kicks off with Lily, whose life shatters in mere seconds as her husband's secrets turn her into a target. Thrown into the orbit of Max and Logan, two men who represent both potential salvation and unforeseen peril, Lily's initial desperation for safety slowly morphs into something far more intricate. Max, the protector, is driven by his innate need to keep people safe. His professional duty becomes entangled with a burgeoning personal desire to keep Lily close, even if it means confronting the unspoken tensions in his relationship with Logan. Logan built walls around himself, preferring control and maintaining distance. His relationship with Max has a clear, albeit costly, price: unquestioning loyalty. Lily's arrival, however, threatens to dismantle Logan's carefully constructed world, introducing chaos and an unexpected emotional challenge. His journey from guarded control to something deeper will undoubtedly be a compelling aspect of the story.
"Wicked Devotion" is a must-read for anyone who enjoys dark military romance, MMF dynamics, and stories where the lines between captive and consensual blur into something undeniably potent.

I really, *really* enjoyed this read.
WLG, the first book in this world/series, got me back into reading earlier this year, and through everything else I’ve read, I’ve missed Sam, Ruby, and their friends. This novel filled that void in an instant!
Max and Logan are absolutely amazing. Max is the sweetest boy, and even if he doesn’t want to admit it, Logan isn’t all grump like he pretends to be. Lily is a really relatable character (for me, at least), and hearing her perspective at times brought tears to my eyes in empathy for both her pain and her joyous healing.
The spice in this novel has certainly kicked up several notches- If you’re here for MMF, you’re gonna GET IT. It’s deliciously written and had me wide-eyed, hand over my mouth, and kicking my feet at 1 am. The larger plot is satisfying and mixed in well with the development of the relationships and spice. Little hints / foreshadowing are sprinkled in about future books in the series, and I’m so excited to read anything Ivy Porter offers us going forward! We’ve added more characters this time around, and I’m hoping to hear more about them in future novels.
It was a delight to see our friends Sam and Ruby again, as well as how they’ve grown since the first book, and it was even nicer to make some new friends in Max, Logan, and Lily along the way. I can’t wait to see them all again as soon as we can 🫂

Trade offer: Ivy gets a few hours of my time and I get A FUCKING GREAT AND WELL WRITTEN SECOND BOOK IN HER WICKED LOVE SERIES 🫦

Ivy Porter is a repeat offender of publishing a book that pulls you right in simply by creating lovable, realistic and versatile characters who navigate along a compelling story, plus absolutely face reddening smut.

We finally get to know two of my favourite side characters from book 1, and ohhhh boy how well we get to know them. Logan and Max are SO fleshed out, some of their conflicts had me reading standing up because I felt the need to punch something. Their character development worked so well with the plot and felt so natural, while Lily was a great fmc as well. I loved her thought processes and her struggle to adapt to her new situation, they make such a great trio!

Plot wise I was veeery excited to see a conspiracy ploy starting to take its effects!! It fits the setting very well and delivers a perfect amount of suspense.

I adore Ivy‘s books so much, I am very excited to see what she has in store for us in the future!! I‘m pretty sure the next book in the series will hold up to my expectations and give me a third set of characters to miss and storylines to ponder about.

Thank you for writing! 🫶🏼

I was so excited for this book. MMF, military… and the dedication made the perfect ingredients for the story to be amazing. Sadly, it wasn’t for me.
I hated the dynamics between all of the main characters. I thought that Lily will make everything better, but it was quite the opposite. She created so much jealousy between Logan and Max, and that was the only thing she actually contributed in this book. Didn’t like her as a character, every time she did something she created a huge mess…
Logan was an as*hole that I tried to understand till the end, and couldn’t. We see part of his life as growing up but you can’t really understand why he pushes Max so much, and why he is allergic to the words “I love you”. You have an idea but there was no going deeper into his mindset. He was hurtful and self-centered prick.
Max… Max was the only good character in their story. The poor soul was so starved for affection and love that his only solution was to bring another person to his non-existent relationship with Logan, hoping that would be helpful. It wasn’t… and I wished he would just have left. This is one of the books I wished that all of the characters just went to their separate ways.

Thank you Ivy for letting me ARC read for you again!

This read was a 4/5 🌟 for me.

The dynamic between Lily, Max & Logan worked perfectly- the dark, the light, and the in between, so to say. The banter between Max & Logan had me actually laughing at so many points. Always love a grumpy x sunshine character dynamic.

I absolutely loved that we had Sam & Ruby back in this second installment of the Wicked series as well.

The pacing & plot were a quick pace for an easy read. This was spicy as all hell too, but definitely drawn out in the first half which I didn't mind at all. I do love when the spice is secondary to the plot.

I do wish I had some more answers in regards to the plot of "who done it", but I'll happily wait for more answers in what seems to be another installment headed our way.

This.. was not what I expected it to be but in a good way! For me I thought this started a little slow but it gained momentum throughout and I really enjoyed reading it.

It’s a little hard to follow with all the characters if you haven’t read the first book but it is doable.

I think what I enjoyed most about this was that Lily was an average person. There wasn’t anything particular about her, like her job or how she looked, she wasn’t the typical fierce heroine, and it was really refreshing to have that in a character. Just two men falling in love with a girl.

Don’t get my wrong, the main character are are unhinged and I loved that that it starts as a MM romance.

I’ll be honest I didn’t love it as much as the first one, but it was still a good book and if you liked the first, this follows on really well!

I loved Wicked Little Game so I was really excited for the next book in the series. When I found out it was MMF i was just desperately waiting for all the teasers Ivy would give lol. This story follows Max, Logan, and Lily. I liked Logan with Max, and eventually his dynamic with Lily, but in the beginning it took me some time to warm up to his character alone. Max I loved straight away. Honestly, the dynamic between Max and Logan was beautiful. I really enjoyed how their personalities bounced off each other. Then you bring Lily into the mix and it's just perfection. Overall, this was a really captivating, amazing read.

This is the second book in Ivy Porter’s Wicked Love series. Officially comes out on July 1, 2025!

Loved this book! I adored all of the characters. Logan is such a lovable controlling grump and Max is a total golden retriever. These two MMCs are just what Lily needed after finding out the deception of her husband. The plot to spice ratio was perfect!

This is the second military romance in the Wicked Love series. This one is a complex throuple. Logan and Max work in an off-the-books military unit. On their most recent case, they run into their target's wife, Lily. This is one of the few sequels I liked even better than the first. It was an unpredictable story. Plus, you get to see what's new with Sam and Ruby from Book 1. There is spice and possible triggers, so check those warnings.

Wow. Very heavy but good book.
Dark mafia-military environment with attractive kidnappers. The tension between Max and Logan is delicious and more so with the arrival of Lily.

Best line- “Showtime sunshine”

I will be looking forward to reading book 1 to catch up and also the future books.

An absolute PERFECT standalone

I LOVED this book.

The storyline was written beautifully with nice development to the characters and plot that I didn’t feel like it was rushed or taking half of the book to understand them. It made a perfect standalone read for me despite it being in the same universe as another.

I’ve absolutely loved this series so far! It’s becoming one of my favorites. I’m not a huge fan of “why choose” books. But I’m gonna be honest, if I’m reading a “why choose” book, I’d prefer it be 2 guys liking the same girl, and not everyone liking everyone. If that makes sense. There’s nothing wrong with, it’s just something I’ve read before, and also not my cup of tea

I love a good MMF dark romance and this one is no different. Beautifully written as always and the fact that it took place after Ruby and Sam’s story made it even better. I honestly thought that Logan would be grumpy the entire book but I’m so glad that wasn’t the case. All in all an amazing book

Brah I'm so bored with this book!
Where is the plot? Where is the actual smut?
Literally no smut decent until 75% in, no plot until 80% in & even then there is far too many unanswered questions about characters.
Oh & did I mention I'm bored!

✨ 4/5 Stars from me!
Wicked Devotion is everything I want in a dark military romance—danger, intensity, and characters that completely consume you. Lily, Max, and Logan had me in a chokehold throughout. The chemistry between them is unreal, and the MMF scenes? I’m still recovering.

The banter was sharp, the tension was delicious, and every chapter had me needing just one more. You get deep emotional moments and enough spice to make you steam. 🔥

I couldn’t stop reading—and I honestly didn’t want to. If you love morally grey men, messy power dynamics, and high-stakes romance that doesn’t hold back, Wicked Devotion needs to be at the top of your TBR.
