The Enchanted Highlands #8

Wild Scottish Charm

Rate this book
She’s hiding something. He sees too much. And in Loren Brae, secrets have a way of rising to the surface.

Faelan Fletcher never stays in one place too long. She knows what happens when a town turns against someone like her. But something about Loren Brae feels different. The land hums with old magic. The people watch her too closely. And the wounded fox at her side refuses to leave.

Luch Carmichael recognizes power when he sees it. A doctor by trade, a guardian by blood, he knows Faelan isn’t just the new vet—she’s something more. But she keeps her secrets locked up tight, refusing to trust the very place meant to welcome her. And in Loren Brae, turning away from magic is never an option.

The loch is restless. The old ways are waking. And Faelan will have to decide—keep running, or stand and fight for the first place that’s ever felt like home.

🔥 A slow-burn Scottish romantasy filled with folklore, found family, and a love that refuses to let go. 🔥

✨ Cozy and spicy fantasy romance
✨ Small town in Scotland
✨ Magical veterinarian x doctor
✨ Black cat FMC x Golden retriever MMC
✨ Scottish folklore
✨ Animal sidekicks (fox and dog)
✨ New to town

Another fun installment in The Enchanted Highlands series, this time with a charm witch aka healer who is a vet that magically heals animals and has a fox familiar! This story follow Faelan Fletcher, a magical healer, as she moves to Loren Brae and takes over the local veterinary practice. She's been ostracized her whole life due to her abilities but she is drawn to the magical town of Loren Brae and hopes to finally put down roots and even join the magikal Order of Caledonia. She is wary of anyone finding out her secret abilities but a chance encounter with Luch Carmichael, the charming local doctor, might change her mind.

I absolutely love the world that Tricia has created in Loren Brae! This is one of my favorite cozy fantasy series and I'm so excited for another installment! These two new characters fit perfectly in this magical Scottish town. Faelan is brave and true to herself despite her struggles with fitting in. Luch is dedicated and protective over those he cares about and is smitten with Faelan ever since their first encounter. Faelan has trust issues thanks to her past and much prefers animals over people, yet Luch is wearing her down. Their instant attraction yet slow burn relationship is everything! And when the spice hits it's 🔥.

The found family in this series is also one of my favorites! All the women create this amazing friendship and family and are so supportive of each other! We see a woman added to the group in each book and they just envelope her into their lives as well as the Order of Caledonia. It's heartwarming to see!

Thank you so much to Tricia for the advanced copy! 🖤

I really enjoyed how the author created such an immersive world, making it easy to imagine yourself surrounded by the stunning beauty of the Highlands because of the vivid details throughout the story.  You can practically feel the cold and smell the heather in the air, as you walk alongside our leading lady, Faelen as begins to find her home in the village. I felt as though I recognised the village, and the beauty from my time in Scotland as a child, there was a perfect blend of comfort and the wonder of the paranormal that’s woven in the very landscape of the country.

Wild Scottish Charm has elements to it that made it a story that I didn’t want to put it down, from a beautiful romance between Faelen and doctor, Luch Carmichael, the idea of found family and how it can give you everything you’re looking for, taking place on the backdrop of the beauty of Scotland and its magic. Ideal for chilly evenings, this story promises to leave you satisfied while also stirring a sense of wonder as Faelen embarks on her quest for the refuge she has always sought.

I liked how Faelen is aware of the magic that lingers in the world, and the insights we got of her past and how she’s been forced to hide away a part of who she is from the world for her own safety - even when she arrives at the village of Loren Brae she’s on edge even with the incidents that occur and the fact she’s got a fox who won’t leave her side. Watching her lower her guard and get comfortable in an environment where she feels accepted, free from judgment, and truly safe brought a smile to my face. Even with all the magical aspects, her journey is relatable.

Luch is a favourite character of mine, and he’s the epitome of hero both in his day to day life as a doctor as well as when away from his scrubs. Kind and caring, I think all will love the man who makes Faelen smile even when she’s attempting to protect herself and her heart from harm. Their love story manages thanks to Tricia’s writing to have a little magic in the mix as well as feel very organic in how the two fall for one another and I found myself smiling at their antics and muttering how Faelen needed to take a little leap of faith along the way. I think you will too.

All in all, Wild Scottish Charm is a perfect blend of the conflicts of modern life, with the legends that keep the magical home of kelpies and other Scottish lore alive. It’s an escape from everything going on, where magic flows beneath your feet and love lingers around the corner for those who aren’t looking for it. Loren Brae sounds wonderful, and I only wish it were real for now. I shall have to remember the magic of the Scottish shores I’ve loved since childhood and await the next book in the series.

I love this series for when I need some cosy Scottish witchy girlpower vibes, and this latest one didn’t let me down. It’s not like a life-changing, mind-altering, emotionally traumatising on-an-epic-scale series, but damn if it doesn’t sometimes shove a mirror in my face and hit me over the head with trying to show me things about myself I should probably heed but won’t.

I REALLY liked the similarity between Faelan’s ability and Fiona’s (Mystic Cove series), her relationship with her mum, AND that no one ever tried calling her Fae. Points for that.

This fucking village with magic and familiars and big broody Scots everywhere, man. You know what, Sophie, I’ll save you the trouble - just take me, Loren Brae, I’m the next Chosen One. I even have a familiar already, he’s a fat boy tuxedo cat and I’m not sure he’s magical but I reckon we can make it work.

Magikal veterinarian was definitely on my list of career goals as a kid.

But what more can you ask for? A story where two people learn to trust each other with the most vulnerable parts of one another, it doesn’t get much better than that.

Love this series

This was such a fun book. It has little bit of everything, all the feels, humor, spicey chemistry between the leading couple, a funtastic cast that I love revisiting and a wonderful story. Can't wait to read the next one.

I hope this series never ends! Tricia O'Malley should write prequels, sequels, and spin-offs!

I love Tricia O'Malley's Enchanted Highland series so much! It is the perfect escape from mundane life. If I had my wish, this series would never end. Tricia with her fantastic creative imagination would write prequels, sequels, and spin-off series til the cows (excuse me, Highland coo's) come home! Tricia O'Malley's writing makes the enchanted village of Loren Brea seem so real, I want to buy a one-way ticket there and never leave! The Enchanted Highland series is Romantasy at its finest!

I was so excited when my pre-ordered copy of book eight of the series, Wild Scottish Charm, arrived on my Kindle, just in time for the holiday season. It was just what I needed to escape the hustle and bustle of shopping, gift-wrapping, and home decorating madness that descends on us this time of year! As expected, Wild Scottish Charm, is full of magical mayhem, laugh-out-loud moments, and sizzling romance that kept me entertained from the first page to the last. I devoured this book in one sitting, and then mourned that I read it so quickly. Now I have the long wait until book 9 is released. I may just have to read the whole series over again while I wait.

Wild Scottish Charm continues the saga of the search for the members of the magical Order of Caledonia, with the unexpected arrival of Loren Brea's new veterinarian, Faelan Fletcher. The Old magic of Loren Brea calls to her, though she tries hard to hide from its power. And, since every magical member of the order has to have a guardian, Faelan is destined to meet hers in the form of Loch Carmichael, a doctor and man of science, naturally resistant to magic's pull. Thus Tricia O'Malley sets the stage again for magical mayhem that only she can create.

All the previous magical characters, ghost coos, gnomes, and kitchen brownies, are there to add a touch of whimsy that makes this series so entertaining! Numerous laugh-out-loud moments had me scaring my dogs from their winter naps, and my husband thinking I had lost my mind. This series also contributed to me receiving an overabundance of Highland coo themed gifts this year! ( I loved it!)

The sizzling chemistry between Faelan and Luch, is another example of Tricia O'Malley's creative writing talent. The electricity between these two leading characters practically leaps from the pages and sears the reader's soul! As always, the magic of Loren Brea makes it impossible to hide from true love's call. In the end, despite all the challenges, the lovers face, Tricia O'Malley ensures that everyone lives happily ever after in Loren Brae, until the Kelpies rise again.

Pick up Tricia O'Malley's Enchanted Highlands series and fall in love with the magic of Scotland as only Tricia's imagination can create!

🌟 Book Review: Wild Scottish Charm by Tricia O'Malley 🌟

Rating: 5/5 Stars

A Welcome Return to Loren Brae with Wild Scottish Charm

Tricia O'Malley delivers another brilliant installment in her beloved series with Wild Scottish Charm, a paranormal romance that feels both comfortingly familiar and vibrantly new. As a fan of the entire series, I can confidently say this book stands right alongside the rest, providing the perfect blend of heartwarming found family, a beautiful romance, and a wonderful infusion of Scottish magic.

The Story: Acceptance and New Beginnings

While the series often focuses on characters new to the magical side of Loren Brae, this book takes a slightly different and highly satisfying approach. The story centers on Faelan, who already possesses knowledge of the magical world. Watching Faelan finally find a place of acceptance among the tight-knit Loren Brae community is deeply rewarding and provides the series with a renewed sense of warmth and belonging.

This novel focuses more intimately on Faelan and Luch's individual journeys and their sizzling connection than on the established magic of the town itself. This shift, however, is a huge strength, as it introduces another layer of unique magic into the mix, keeping the world-building fresh and engaging.

The Characters: Conflict and Delight

The romance between Faelan and Luch is a captivating push and pull. I particularly enjoyed Luch's plot twist, which added unexpected depth to his character. He's a wonderful hero, even if there were moments where his resistance felt frustrating—I wanted to shake some sense into him!—given his own magical circumstances. Yet, the story handles this well, grounding his hesitancy in his upbringing, which ultimately provides a rich and satisfying character arc.

Beyond the central couple, Mitch, the service dog, is also a noteworthy element. The way Mitch is integrated into the story is well-handled, offering not just an enjoyable side plot, but also an educational angle regarding service animals and their role. Of course, we also get the host of lovable animal and magical side characters we've come to expect.

Final Verdict

Wild Scottish Charm is everything I've come to expect and adore from Tricia O'Malley's work. The way she mixes modern-day life with rich Scottish folklore is pitch-perfect. It's a gorgeous escape filled with a heartwarming story of found family opening their arms to new members and a truly lovely romance.
This book only increases my anticipation for what comes next! I am (still) begging to see Agnes and Graham finally get their story—they absolutely deserve the spotlight!

I always love coming back to Loren Brae and was exceptionally excited for this installment since it centered around a vet with the power to heal animals. As a life long pet lover who desperately wanted to be a vet when she was younger, this one was sure to be a winner.

And yet. This one didn’t have the “charm” (yes I hate me too for that pun) as some of the others in this series. I didn’t really feel the chemistry between Faelan and Luch other than them having fiery sexy time. Clearly there was a lot to lust but love felt like a very quick jump. I know these books are meant to be fun, Scottish flings but I felt like other characters had better relationship build up. This one was just going along perfectly and then bam! Third act breakup due to miscommunication. No it’s not a spoiler. That’s literally the same trope used throughout the series. This is book 8. Shouldn’t be a surprise at this point.

Faelan has a lot of reasons to not trust people. But I wish there would have been just a little more explanation as to why her and her mom were run out of every town they settled in. I’m assuming it was due to healer magic but there’s never really an explanation or inciting incident that’s referenced. Just a vague broad stroke kind of thing. I kind wanted her to be a bit more wary, I bit more feisty in her independence before letting Luch in.

Luch. I liked him as a MMC but he felt pretty one dimensional. Problematic, overbearing family? Sure. But there didn’t feel like the stakes were all that high. And why is it he could hear his dog talking but none of the other animals? That’s not really explained.

Also, I need to find this town. There seems to be big strapping (mostly) emotionally mature single men just hanging around waiting for a lass to put herself in harms way for them to come out of the forest, loch or castle in nothing but a kilt and a scowl. Sign. Me. Up.

Is it a fun time? Of course! Is it a life changing story? No but that’s okay. Not every book needs to be. Will I be frothing at the mouth for the next one? Absolutely.

This is my first read in this series but not my first from this author. This is a really special story and I hope you’ll pick it up! I love an animal familiar and we get two in this story, characters in their own right.

The FMC is Faelan Fletcher, who is a veterinarian and new to the town of Loren Brae. She’s a magickal woman, a witch by blood, and a healer by heart. She was raised by a single mother and has struggled to fit in everywhere she’s lived. She is almost immediately welcomed by a fox, who informs her that he’s her familiar. We learn the price she pays for healing as she’s a vet, and the steps to recover were fascinating to read. She’s attracted to the owner of her first official patient at her office, but wary as he’s a doctor. But he takes great care with her, and she tries to open herself to that.
Seeing her find acceptance in the tight-knit community of Loren Brae was beautiful to witness.

The MMC is Luch Carmichael, who is an emergency room physician. He’s got a bit of magick as well, but is a little mysterious about it. He suspects the new vet in town is a healer, and tries to keep his mind open about it though he was raised under prejudice. His father and family in general are very overbearing and super involved in his life even though he’s moved to another town, and you get the sense that there is something a little sinister going on. His mother had difficulty with his birth, and his father, a doctor, blamed the healer attending her. As he falls for Faelen, he learns a lot about her and her healing, but continues to keep a few secrets, though his dog, Oban, continually encourages him that she can be trusted.

I loved the community and the magickal creatures in this book. This author is a gifted urban fantasy writer, and I love how rich the locations seem, and how easily the mythology weaves into her stories. It makes me believe ancient magic truly exists. This is book 8 in a series but works just fine as a standalone!

Loren Brae welcomes us home once again. And once again Tricia O’Malley has brought us a sweet, spicy, lovely story of a woman and man who are so ridiculously right for each other, the town, and the Order of Caledonia.

Faelen is the first character we’ve had that not only knows about her magic, but knows others with it. Most of the Order know nothing of magic when Sophie approaches them, but Faelen spent her childhood learning from her mother and running when townsfolk became suspicious and/or angry. She takes a chance on having a future when she buys the veterinarian practice in Loren Brae, but even owning property and a business isn’t enough to convince her she’ll stay. Enter Luch, an emergency room doctor who is also a fairly new addition to the town, who is determined to run his life despite his father’s wishes. Luch has secrets of his won which he holds close, despite the pull and attraction he has for the new vet.

Faelen and Luch are the perfect mix of science and magic. Both are highly educated, but both know there’s more beyond science. But while Faelen accepts other ways to help heal, Luch has spent his entire life being told to rely on science and that anything else is dangerous. Still, they work well together. Luch helps Faelen put down roots while she opens herself up to relationships, not just with him but with the other members of the Order. She’s never really had friends before, and it was wonderful to see the ladies welcome her without judgement. Luch was a bit frustrating as he held his secret close even after Faelen revealed hers, but he stepped up when it really mattered.

As always, I loved the glimpses of our favorite ladies, their men, and the familiars. Each book adds more fun characters and it’s always a treat when we get to see them again. In addition to the previous couples, we got to see the tension between Agnes and Graham really ramp up and I absolutely cannot wait for their story to finally be told.

Thank you Tricia for inviting us to Loren brae once again and for gifting me an arc of your wonderful book.

I received an ARC but all thoughts are my own.

How Tricia keeps expanding and building on this world is mind-blowing. She ties everything together perfectly, weaving together the previous books with the current story, making sure to give focus on the new couple.

I love that she expanded the magical elements even more with this installment. We have Faelen, our FMC, who knows about magic being real and already being in touch with her magical skill. She's not shocked when her familiar shows up, or when she sees gnomes running around. To her, it's just part of life, even if that part of her life hasn't always brought joy. But she quickly learns that she's important to keeping Loren Brae safe.

Then there's our MMC, Luch. While the FMC is a veterinarian, he's an emergency room doctor. I really like how their jobs mirror each other, and leads to them having more of an understanding of crazy schedules and emergencies popping up. We quickly learn his family isn't happy with him, and that he's hiding something from Faelen and the others. I don't want to spoil anything, but when his secret finally did come out, I was very excited! Again, just expanding the magical elements of Loren Brae.

Two of my favorite characters though were Gloam, the fox familiar, and Oban, the Scottish Terrier that belongs to Luch. These two animal side characters added tons of humor and dimension to the story. I loved them and hope to see more of them in the future!

Wild Scottish Charm was just that- wild and charming! Faelan (don't you just love that name???) Is everything I love in a FMC. She’s brave, socially awkward (by no fault of her own) and completely loyal to those she holds dear. She loves animals, (cause really, who doesn't prefer the company of loyal pets to secretive people?) And will do anything for an animal in need. And Gloam, I absolutely adored him! Faelan's been ostracized her entire life and having just moved to Loren Brae, is considering putting down roots. She finds friends, but is love in the stars? Enters Luch, a dreamy Scottish doctor, who is one of the most handsome men Faelan has ever seen (this goes without saying). Faelan and Luch meet when Luch's beloved dog is hit by a car. Faelan works her vet magic on the pup and instantly lands on Luch's radar. But, they both are keeping secrets and each scared to tell the other. I loved the slow burn, the instant attraction, and the spice was 🥵 🌶. I loved that they had so much in common and could just be themselves around each other. I also loved the group of women who adopted Faelan into their fold. This whole series has my heart! I love the magic, and adventure of the overall storyline. I can’t wait to read more of this world.

I love this series and was excited to return to the magical village of Loren Brae! With each visit I love the village and the characters more and while this is book 8 it can be read as a standalone. This is a story full of friendship, acceptance, love and more than a little magic. Faelan is the new veterinarian in town and after a lifetime of never putting down roots she hopes that she can stay and be accepted for who she really is in Loren Brae. Luch, the new doctor is keeping own secrets and is trying to make his way away from family Sparks fly between them but can they find a way to trust each other with their secrets? The connection and romance between Faelan and Luch was intense, spicy, and also sweet. The magical women of the village bring Faelan into their group and watching the friendships grow and Faelan realize that she has found her people is a delight. The familiars of the group are so diverse and made me laugh with their antics. I love this magical town and its inhabitants and can not wait for the next book in the series.

I highly recommend this to readers that enjoy stories full of found family, acceptance, romance, and more than a little magic.

Thanks to the author for the gifted copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

After reading Love’s A Witch, I couldn’t wait to read more by this author so I was very excited to receive this ARC. (Thank you so much Tricia O’Malley!) This might be the eighth book in the series, but it was not necessary to have read the previous books to understand or enjoy Wild Scottish Charm. Of course, I’m hooked now so I will definitely be going back and reading the rest of the series.

Faelan is a vet who has moved around all of her life - afraid to show her true self anywhere she goes. Luch is an ER doctor who has moved to Loren Brae to escape an overbearing father. The connection between the two is immediate and intense, but both have secrets that may threaten any relationship developing between them.

There is magic, mystery, a swoon worthy MMC, and lovably sweet FMC. The town of Loren Brae is so well developed that it is like a character of its own, and the supporting characters add so much depth to the story. The ending/conflict resolution felt a little rushed after everything else was so well paced, but it was a solid story worth the read.

If you love Scottish folklore, slow burns, and love against all odds, you will love this book!

As usual, Tricia O'Malley had written another utstanding book in this series. The characters from the prior books are wonderful to read about again. The plot is wonderful and Loren Brae, in spite of the dangers is a wonderful location! I do wish Tricia could back off the level of sex and sexual attention in these books. I guess I'm just a prude but I'd rather it be behind the bedroom door!

Amazon synopsis:

When a veterinarian, who is also a charmed healer, relocates to Loren Brae, she meets a dashing and sexy emergency physician. Their first meeting happens because his dog has been hit by a car and she heals his best friend. There is obviously an actual spark between them. Does he know she's a witch? Will he accept her for who she is or will he push her away like so many have done in the past? As she joins the Order of Caledonia and works with Sophie and the ladies to protect Loren Brae from the kelpies, she finds herself a found family and an understanding she never has before.

I have listened to the audiobook of each book in this series. Amy Landon and Will Watt are phenomenal narrators that have truly made the stories come alive! This book, though, has been my favorite so far. I found myself touched by the story and for Faelan in a way that I haven't connected with the other characters. This one made me shed tears.

Tricia O'Malley, I can't wait for the next in the series! I enjoyed the bonus chapter but missed the teaser for the next book! when will Agnes and Graham get their own story???

《 ARC REVIEW 》

"Every day, Loren Brae was helping me to grow roots."

☆☆☆☆☆

I just finished up Wild Scottish Charm by Tricia O'Malley a few days ago, and even though I say it every single time... this one was seriously the best one yet!

This is the eighth book in the Enchanted Highlands series, and if you haven't read these yet, you NEED to!! They've got found family, badass women, Scottish lore, mythical creatures (like kelpies and a ghost coo!), small town vibes, and so much more!

I've been invested in this series for a while now, but oh my goodness, I adore Faelan and Luch so much!! I love the way that these books bring Scottish lore to life, and this one truly did that!

This book had so many levels to it, and I was gasping, laughing, and crying my way through it! I also got the chance to read this while I was in Scotland, and it made it that much more magickal!

I have had the honor of ARC reading this entire series so far, and I am so thankful to Tricia O'Malley for the opportunity! This book just got released on November 11th, and is available to read now! 💕

Very, very good

I only write reviews when I find a book either very good or very bad. This one was very, very good (the last was, unfortunately, very bad). The Order of Caledonia is coming together at last. All these powerful women will unite to protect the world from the sinister forces that guard the Stone of Firrin. The guards and the protectors have to balance.

They have been out of balance for a long time. It’s takes a lot of magical energy to keep the barrier intact. Faelen brings so much strength to this group. Luch adds his own magical energy to support her through his love.

It’s just a wonderful story of vulnerability, love, and finally acceptance. I waited a long time for this book. Now I’ll have to wait again for the next chapter. In the mean time, I’ll think of all the ladies, and especially Clyde the Highland Coo!

I may have to re-read all these books again. They are so imaginative and full of joy. I recommend them to all who enjoy fantastical Scottish tales. Or any fantasy, really. Tricia, you’ve hit another home run.

Another fantastic story by Tricia O'Malley! I loved seeing the romance and conflict from both main characters. Faelan is used to running or being chased out of town when someone finds out she's a witch, so it's a secret closely guarded. Luch is also guarding a secret he is forbidden to tell. Unbeknownst to them, they've landed in a magical town with accepting people. Their relationship is easy, as natural as breathing. There are several classy spicy scenes, full of emotion.

I have not read the others in this series (yet) so I can confidently tell you it can be read as a standalone!

I have every intention to start at book 1 so I can watch all the couples fall for each other. Plus I want to know more about Loren Brae, the lovely magical Scottish town the books take place in. I highly recommend reading this, as well as everything else this wonderful author has published!

Thank you for the early copy. This is my honest and voluntary review.

With each book comes a new love story and how it applies to the larger story being told and this one was quite the story. Like the last book, this one also veers off even more, as the love story between Faelan and Luch had much more to it than previous ones. The added layers just made the story more interesting, even if the biggest reveal I figured out pretty early on. As usual, the familiar was a scene stealer.

One, fairly minor overall, thing that did bother me a little was the drama near the end with Luch’s family. It was built up and then things got solved very quickly. I understand these are short books and the main focus is the couple, but such deep hatred to just seemingly disappearing felt off. Yes, when it finally clicks I suppose it can happen, but it just felt like things got solved there too quickly all the same.

I hate that I now have the wait for the next book, but I know it will be worth it.

This series started off being about the mystery of the Island and the Kelpies protecting it. The history and development of the Order. Sophie's story and how she became the Knight. It has now become romances with a little bit of the Island/Stone thrown in occasionally - usually with one violent encounter with the kelpies. Period. There is still some "magick" in there but it's almost all about the love story with a bit of sex. For a romance, this was ok. Insta-love but some time did pass as they got to know each other a bit. Plenty of secrets abounded but no surprises. A few things were eye-rolls. Seriously, a VET could not tell the difference between a husky and a wolf???? Also - there must be a few dozen "wee"s in there. Way too many - not a wee amount - WAY too many. I'll continue with the series but with the expectation of it being a Romantacy now instead of something else.

4.5⭐️ I think this is my favorite so far in the series. When animals are involved, it’s an immediate great read. This was no different. Faelan has finally set down roots by taking over the vet clinic. But there is a very specific reason she’s so good at what she does. Luch is an ER doctor and has a secret of his own. Will Faelan’s difficulty to commit keep her from love? Will Luch hold on too hard to his families ideas and not trust Faelan?

Thank you @triciaomalleyauthor for the #gifted copy. I enjoyed it so much I had to get the audiobook copy.

5⭐️ narration from Amy Landon and Will Watt. Amy always impresses me with her narration of the male characters. Believe me, you want to hear the Scottish accent of Will. So dreamy.

If you love magic, romance, fun animal side characters, and found family; this is absolutely for you. But be sure to check out all the other wonderful stories in The Enchanted Highlands series.

Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️
Overall: no one. Literally no one does cozy, witchy books like Tricia O’Malley. I seriously don’t think I’ve met a book of hers that I don’t adore. Of course this one is no different. Garland and Luch both have their secrets and a mistrust in others. But with their connection, they are struggling to keep it in. I loved the mystery around the kelpies and really trying to figure out what Lucy’s secret was. I had a good hunch but the reveal was perfect. The magical town of Loren Brae and the council of witches is so cool and I really love how much she has expanded on the series. In O’Malley fashion, the spice is lighter but it really isn’t needed. Being able to write a close connection without tons of sex is such an underrated talent. I was truly blessed to receive this as an ARC and cannot wait to read more of what Tricia writes.

This is the eighth book in the Enchanted Highland series. It can be read as a standalone, but it has more impact with all the previous information.

Faelan is the new vet in town, and we get to meet her quickly in a previous book. She has always been on the run and is finally starting to feel at home in Loren Brae. Introduce Luch into the mix, and it gets messy. Both of them are healers in their own fields and constantly misunderstanding one another (not a miscommunication trope, just genuine, not understanding each other).

This one is full of pets and animals, and honestly, it's so much fun. If you have read the previous books, this one will not disappoint. There is no animal death, which I was personally worried about, but there is none. So this book is perfect. I adored Faelan so much and felt connected to her. As usual, another hit from O'Malley.

Tricia does it again! The draw I feel towards a fictional place is crazy! Sign me up for a one way ticket to Loren Brae, please!

This is the eighth installment in the Enchanted Highlands Series. The series follows a magical Order of women who come into their magic and face challenges, both physical and emotional. This particular book revolves around veterinarian, Faelan, a charm witch (healer) and the hunky Scottish doctor Luch.

The found family in this series is unmatched, and my heart was so happy for Faelan when she found her place and people. The bonds the women create in this book left me teary eyed with happiness, seeing a group of women truly build each other up was amazing.

The layers to each character and their story are compelling and keep you turning the page for more.

heart swooning !!

When I start a Tricia O’Malley book I can guarantee I won’t want to put it down. Tricia is excellent in making you fall in love with the characters. I can just picture all of these incredibly delicious men in kilts or bare chested as she describes perfectly. You can feel the passion jumping off the page. Loren Brae is a place I personally would love to visit until that can happen I actually do get to go there is the pages of the book. Luch is yet another Scotsman that will have you falling in love with him yet , angry as a kelpie at him and beside yourself with what Faelan should do. I love that the women are written with real life features and curves . Love always wins in the end . Definitely pick up this book to read you will be so very glad you did . I sure enjoyed it !!! I always leave wanting more and more of these stories .

3.5 rounded up to 4

Faelan moves to a small town to own her own veterinary practice. She's used to hiding her magic, but quickly finds community among the other gifted women in town. Faelan also meets Luch, an emergency doctor who sweeps her off her feet with his thoughtful and protective ways. But Luch is hiding secrets of his own.

Read if you like:
-Small Towns
-Magic
-Secrets
-Protective MMC

While I've only read bit and pieces of this series, I think it's safe to say that Wild Scottish Charm will be my favorite because of Luch. I love a protective MMC with a secret or two. I guessed at what his secret was pretty early on and I was thrilled that I was right. No spoilers; you are just going to need to read and find out for yourself. The small town and found family tropes worked will with Faelan's backstory and I was happy to see her find the community she needed.

Gahhhh, I'm really sad to have caught up to Ms O'Malley now, so there are no more books in this series until April next year (on the plus side, there ARE at least two other interconnected series, plus the Graphic Audio adaptations and a few standalone books, so it's not like I won't have anything to read!)

This was yet another strong addition to the series, with a vet-and-healer-cum-charm-witch FMC and a doctor MMC who insists that science is the beginning and end of ethical medical practice .

I know Book 9 is out next April, and I'm very much looking forward to diving into it. And in the meantime, I think I'm going to try the Florida Keys books, since I know we've already met at least one character from there in one of the previous instalments in this series.

This was such a satisfying installment in the series. Instead of focusing heavily on the Order, saving the town, or battling the Kelpies, this book leans into what makes this series so special: the friendships between the women. That shift worked beautifully for me and made the story feel warm, emotional, and grounded.

This one also did a great job tying up loose ends from book #7, which made it feel complete while still clearly building toward the finale. Along with the first few books in the series, this has easily become one of my favorites.

Loren Brae continues to be one of the coziest, most magical towns I’ve read about. It feels so vivid and inviting that I genuinely wish it were real—I’d absolutely book a trip there. I’m really hoping the final book brings everything together and gives this world the wrap-up it deserves.
