Kindle Unlimited: No
Stand-alone: No- Trilogy
Author: Shan Lynn
Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐️
Spiciness Rating:2.5/5 🌶
POV: First Person Dual Perspective
Main Couple: Zayne and Myssa
Trope(s): Paranormal Romance, Dark Suspense Romance, Fantasy, Fated Mates

“My heart is your heart, and my body and mind are forever entwined with yours. This feeling,” he squeezes my hand within his still against his heart, “This magnetism you feel is the same for me. You’re the missing piece to my forever, and I refuse to ever let you go.” His vow shocks me as the tears fall effortlessly.”

Paranormal Fantasy is not my usual go-to, but I am trying to shake up my reading habits this year. I read the blurb to Frequency and it caught my attention. This is a detailed and emotional read, loads of angst and suspense. Shan definitely engaged my attention from the start. The book has a good flow with the storyline unraveling at just the right pace to keep you intrigued and curious. As we get the backstory we begin to understand the moving pieces, the players. The slow-burn and build of Zayne and Myssa’s connection. I became so invested in the story, in the world that was created that the cliffy really caught me off guard. Like gasping and shaking my kindle kind of response.

Myssa Connor’s life was turned upside down six months ago with the death of her sister, Nik. Since her death, nightmares have ruled her nights. She has just been existing and going through the motions of her everyday life. Then her boss insists for her own good that she take a much needed break from the IT firm where she is a project manager to focus on her grief.

As she is leaving the building she has an encounter with a handsome stranger. One that awakens her to a connection she has never felt before.

When her best friends Vix and Knox begin working at a new club called Frequency she hesitantly decides to go out for the first time since Nik’s death. As she enters the club she feels the intense pull she has been feeling for days. An erotic, sensual pleasure that finally has been freed.

Zayne has fulfilled his dream of opening a new club, Frequency in Chicago, after years of hosting pop-up raves. His plans are falling in line and having his best friend Knox as his head of security is a no-brainer. His social life has been on hold as he focuses on his future.

Then he encounters her.

It’s been years since he and Knox have encountered another one like them.

Myssa soon realizes that she has to confide in her friends.

She wasn’t expecting the response they had.

She wasn’t expecting to be a missing piece to the puzzle.

Frequency by Shan Lynn is an addicting dark paranormal romance. The storyline flowed wonderfully and had me hooked from the first page.  The paranormal aspect was really interesting. Myssa, the FMC, finds herself able to pass through the “frequency” to a place called Aetherium. Turns out she isn’t the only one. I loved the chemistry between the main characters, Myssa and Zayne, and their relationships with the secondary characters. I am particularly interested in learning more about Jasper, the antagonist.  I feel there is much more to him than meets the eye. With twists that I didn’t see coming and the perfect splash of spice this book left me desperate for book 2. Check out the banging playlist, too!

I honestly couldn’t put this book down, I loved every moment of this story and absolutely love the characters. I can’t wait to see what Shan has in store for us with this series because I NEED MORE!!!! I highly recommend this book, it was such a fresh new concept I haven’t seen before and the storyline is so gripping. Just go read it I promise you will be obsessed!

Thank you, author and Candi Kane pr for giving me an ARC of this book.

“My heart is your heart, and my body and mind are forever entwined with yours. This feeling,” he squeezes my hand within his still against his heart, “This magnetism you feel is the same for me. You’re the missing piece to my forever, and I refuse to ever let you go.”

This was a fast paced book. I liked the world building even when at times it felt confusing to me. I also liked how easy to read this book was, it was good.

I see a lot of potential for the main characters & the side characters, at time i just felt that we are going too fast for my liking regarding the relationships these characters have, but it was entertaining nonetheless.

There are so many things that made me question what was going on in this book. Don’t get me wrong i definitely enjoyed this book and the relationship between the characters it juts felt somehow…lacking something idk what is. To me half of this book felt like we were waisting time of small things rather than focusing on the bigger things.

Anyways i recommend this book if you want a fast paced, slow burn, book. I’m curious about what happens next so I’ll pick up the next book when it comes out.

“She is beautiful. I want her, I want to know all of her, what makes her tick, what are her fears, her insecurities, what interests her, what revolts her, what her lips taste like, what it feels like to be consumed by her…”

I received this as an ARC read in return for an honest review.

4.5 stars, but I’m rounding up to 5.

This book had some of the most interesting world-building I’ve read in a long time. Myssa, our FMC, is grieving the death of her sister, which is only made worse by constant nightmares of a man named Jasper who torments her every night. Her friends, Vix and Knox, convince her to go out, and that leads her to Frequency — a nightclub built on a ley line of sorts. While there, Myssa discovers she can travel into another realm called Aetherium. All of this was incredibly interesting and very well done.

The chemistry between Myssa and Zayne was fire. You could feel the pull between them from the beginning, and the twist at the end genuinely caught me off guard.

My only real issue was that the villain, along with some of the side characters in Aetherium, felt a little underdeveloped compared to the depth of the main cast and world.

Still, a good book, I did enjoy it.

If you love a fast-paced plot with a slow burn romance, this book checks all the boxes.

Shan Lynn's debut is one of those books that leaves you wanting more. It's the perfect length to read in a weekend, and you easily find yourself pulled into the main characters life. I love how you are learning about the world along with the Myssa as she's discovering this whole new part of it that she never knew existed. The world building itself is done really well. I love how it doesn't bog down the storyline or slow down the pace of the book. Shan Lynn sprinkles the world building throughout the story so it's easy to consume and learn about what is happening.

The slow burn romance is nice, and when the heated scenes hit, they get you in the feels.

I'm excited to see where the story goes next and to learn about the side characters who have captured my attention.

So good! This is the first novel I have read by this author but it won't be the last. This novel did not disappoint. I love a slow burn and this novel checked so many boxes for me. I love a good paranormal romance. This novel took me on such a wild ride. From the first few chapters this novel sucked me in and held on tight until the very last page. I need to know what is coming next, I can' wait until the next novel is released. I loved Myssa and Zayne. Wow, the chemistry was so good! Once I started reading this novel held on tight. I was on the edge of my seat reading. I can hardly wait for the next novel to see what is coming next. So good! The next novel can't come soon enough.

Shans debut book is nothing to sleep on!! This Paranormal Romance, sloooow burn, had such an amazing build up to the cliffhanger at the end. The story flows well and the puzzle pieces start to fall into place, leaving us with a jaw dropping moment at the end….i need to know what happens next….i was sucked in from the beginning and left wanting at the end….with the slow burn, the spice was 2.5/5 when it was happening, wasn’t a lot a spice. Hoping there is more to come in the future! Again for a debut novel, this is a magnificent story! And that’s coming from someone who doesn’t read a lot of fantasy anymore, but I’m here for it!!

I have never read a book like this before. Myssa is such an amazing FMC. She is walking through tragedy in her life and in turn finds out her life isn’t what she thought. Zayne is such an intriguing MMC. He is just going along and then here comes Myssa. You never know what he is going to say and I love it! The side characters in this book are even giving main character energy! The premise of this story is unique and grips you from the very beginning. Paranormal/fated mates. Gothic/industrial. The music references are top tier and you should definitely make sure that you are listening to the music! This is a story that needs to be read by as many people as possible! Can’t wait for more!!

ARC for an honest review!

First of all, thank you for the opportunity to read this book.

I liked this book! It was easy to read and to relate to. The characters, Myssa and Zayne are so good together, I felt the yearning and the tension between them like I was in the book myself. The side characters were funny, I laughed a lot during Knox’s dialogues. The story builds fast and the things are explained at the right parts. I have some questions with this ending, and I’ll definitely read the next installment. I need answers!

If you love yearning, character driven, paranormal and mysterious stories which are easy to read, this book is for you.

Thank you for the ARC Shan Lynn.

This review is a voluntarily and honest review.

Frequency is a slow burn paranormal romance. The FMC is dealing with a tragic loss while having to figure out her nightmares and the “person” in them. The MMC and FMC definitely has some back and forth tension. From start to finish I was drawn into this book. I didn’t want it to end and looking forward to the next book. Loved the supporting characters as well!

If you love paranormal books, paranormal romance, slow burn this is the book for you!

Absolutely in love with this book! Pulled me in from the very beginning.....we get to learn about a new world but it does not make anything confusing, we learn with the character making things more immersive. both the Female and Male Main Characters are so relatable and you route for them the whole time....just enough of the Villian to pull your curiosity and want to know more.....and the ending, just wrecks you and leaves you needing to immediately get into the second book. I absolutely cannot wait!! i'm so excited to continue this Trilogy!

Frequency was author Shan Lynn and it did not disappoint. Zayne and Myssa meet on accident and it was insta love. Myssa recently lost her sister and was being haunted by a demon named Jasper who is after her soul 😈! You also meet her friends Vix and Knox (Gah, he’s my favorite) who end up working for Zayne at Frequency. There is a big curveball/cliffhanger at the end so be prepared. I am not normally a slow burn fan but this book kept me entertained so I was able to look past it. 😊

A new world

Overall, a few typos and sentences that need to be corrected- but they did not detract from the storyline! I love a good spin on other worlds and Shan Lynn took me for a wild ride with this one. I am, to put it simply, hooked. The story, the characters, the settings- all had me racing through my day to get back to reading.

Missa our goth badass FMC loses her sister tragically. This throws her whole world in a loop. She is haunted by shadow figures. She thinks it’s all in her head…. Or is it. Her friends new jobs boss shows Missa there is more than meets the eye. This dark slow burn paranormal romance is about fated mates. But it’s in the most difficult sense of the word. The ending leaves you on a cliffhanger.

There were some typos that needed to be corrected. But other than these minor things the book was pretty good. I loved the plot of the story and I am hoping there is a second part. It had some funny moments and some moments it had you in the realm of Altherium. It has love, deceit and an ending you did not expect coming.

Wow, this book was exceptional. When every new romantasy/paranormal romance seems like a cookie cutter of every other one this one was truly unique. I wish I could read it for the first time again.

ARC Review

This is the debut novel by Shan Lynn, but I expect more goodness! This novel did not disappoint. I love a slow burn, and Frequency delivered for me. I find myself loving a good Paranormal/Fated Mates story more and more. Not a lot of heat, but it worked for this debut.

Myssa was such an amazing FMC. She is walking through loss in her life, and Zayne is such an intriguing MMC.

My favorite character was Knox, and I stand behind that!

Frequency had such an amazing build-up to the cliffhanger at the end.

I received this book as an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Let me start by saying I really liked the premise of the plot. It had enormous potential and I really wanted to love it.

I felt the characters needed more depth - more background,.more details. I didn't feel I knew enough about them and as a result I didn't feel as invested in their story as I would have liked. I did really enjoy Knox as a character. He was probably the one character I felt a good connection with and I loved his sense of humour as well has his friendship with Vix and Myssa.

Other readers described this book as fast paced but I spent a lot of time waiting for something to happen. I did, however, enjoy Mtssa's encounters with Jasper and the way frequency and travel between worlds worked within the story.

I still think the story has potential and wonder if the pacing will improve in book 2.

Frequency is a unique take on soulmates and how they complete each other. I loved the snarky inner monologue and the banter between the characters. The paranormal dimension shifting was super interesting. I really enjoyed this debut novel from Shan Lynn and look forward to reading the rest of the series!
