USA Today Bestselling Author Cindy Kirk is a Booksellers' Best Award Winner, a National Readers' Choice Awards finalist, and a Publishers Weekly bestselling author. Cindy launched her Good Hope series with a bang. Christmas in Good Hope hit #1 on the Amazon bestseller list for both Contemporary Romance and Women's Fiction.
A lifelong Nebraska resident, Cindy started writing after taking a class at a local community college. An incurable romantic, Cindy loves seeing her characters grow and learn from their mistakes and, in the process, achieve a happy ending.
Someone once told Cindy that to know a writer you just have to read what she's written; she hopes that once you read her books you can tell she is an eternal optimist, one who truly believes in the power of love. She invites you to kick off your shoes, pick up one of her books, and get to know her.
Cindy and her high school sweetheart husband live on an acreage with their two dogs.
I am loving the next generation of Good Hope. Lolo Kendrick is back in Good Hope to get away from her life for a little while. A visit to see her brother, Kyle, his wife and their children, turned into a long-term stay in the family's cabin on Paintbrush Lane. These cabins are normally used for artists. Lolo needs to step back from her job as an architect to get the creative juices flowing again. Lolo had a series of setbacks and needed to get her head back on straight after a break up. Imagine her surprise when she finds out her friend, KT Slattery, was also renting a cabin.
KT was in the same boat as Lolo. Recent breakup and looking for direction in life and career. KT and Lolo had always been friends. When they were younger, they connected over art. Both had a few setbacks that led them to this place and time. The easy camaraderie they had as kids was the same now that they were older. It can't be that easy right?!?!? They will both have to fend off self doubts and people doubting their relationship. How can they survive a long-distance relationship if the doubts are already creeping in? Ms. Kirk gives readers exactly what they expect. I am still in love Good Hope.
Belonging: KT & Lolo is the second in the Good Hope: Next Generation series but can be read as a stand alone, however I suggest reading not only the first in the series but also the Good Hope series. It will give you character background as well as reading for the pure entertainment and delight that is the Good Hope series. KT and Lolo met as teenagers, sharing their love of art but life was not ready for a connection then but now that the two have returned, the sparks are flying. Lolo lives in Lexington, KY where she works for her father as an architect and she is involved with a co-worker who she thought was the real deal until she comes home to find him in bed with another co-worker. Devastated, she heads to Good Hope to visit her brother and to find peace of mind so she can create new designs for a client. KT is a famous artist who got burned out by corporate commissions and is now staying in Good Hope to find his muse and inspiration again. Lolo and KT reconnect as neighbors on Paintbrush Lane (an artist community) but after bad breakups both are leery of starting something new until they both realize that neither is expecting anything more than the other is willing to give. This is another heart-filled, sweet romance of friends to lovers and realizing that love doesn't have to be on a timeline. The characters are flawed, realistic and engagingly relatable. Cindy Kirk has a way of creating fictional towns that make you wish were real so that you could visit and interact with the residents.
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.
Good Hope…if I could move there, I would! I love this series of next generation books that take place in a town I grew to love. And seeing connections between characters I met quickly is amazing.
Lolo and KT are both looking for something, but they aren’t sure what. Through their mutual love of art and respect for each other, they find what they are looking for. This is such a beautiful story of standing up for what’s right, believing in yourself, and finding home.
I highly suggest this series, but especially encourage everyone to check out the Good Hope series as well.
Belonging: KT & Lolo is a beautiful, small-town romance. Good Hope, in this new generation, is a place that you can come home to for healing and connecting with wonderful people. The legacy left behind by the unforgettable matchmakers, Katherine, Ruby and Gladys, still lives on.
Lorraine (Lolo) Kendrick has come back to Good Hope to use up some of her vacation time and recover from a bad breakup with her fiancé, Jared Tipton, who cheated on her with Lolo’s father’s Admin. As if that was not bad enough, he gaslighted Lolo saying that it was her fault for his affair because she was too busy at work. Lolo who is a Chief Architect at her father’s firm was staying with her brother Kyle and his family who lived in Good Hope. She decided to find another place to stay for the duration of her stay. Her sister-in-law’s brother owns and manages cabins for artist and she was able to rent one of the cabins.
KT Slattery who is an artist and has been working in the corporate world needs to find his muse again. He wants to paint and finds a perfect retreat in a cabin on Paintbrush Lane as well. KT is also healing from a breakup. As fate would have it, they meet up and find out they are neighbors. They had been friends years ago when Lolo and KT were in Good Hope and they both connected through their art. It isn’t long before the attraction cannot be ignored between them. However, Lolo and KT both have friends and family that warn them not to get too involved as they both would be leaving and going back to their jobs in different states. KT’s brother, Braxton, thinks it is no coincidence that Lolo is KT’s neighbor. He thinks Lolo is going to persuade KT to take on one of the clients of her father’s company that he previously turned down. Lolo was aware that Braxton was worried that she was using KT.
Could a long-distance relationship work for KT & Lolo? How can Lolo and KT learn to trust again and listen to their hearts? It is so hard to find clarity when well meaning people question your relationship. I love this phrase “Fear keeps us rooted in place”. This was so true of KT and Lolo. Your heart is speaking very clear but past events and disappointments make it hard to trust our hearts.
This is a delightful story of healing and new beginnings. Cindy Kirk has provided another feel-good romance that warms the heart and I genuinely enjoyed the escape it gave me.
When Lolo needs a change of pace and a break from work (and a broken heart) she goes to the one place that has always been a safe place for her... Good Hope. Showing up on her brothers door step Lolo doesn't know what to do, just that she needs a reset and time to think. While Kyle and Eliza are welcoming Lolo needs her own space and is able to get one of the cabins out on Paintbrush lane. Lolo doesn't know what her time in Good Hope will bring, but she is hoping to find her creative and sense of self she feels is missing from life right now. One night while at the start Lolo can't believe it when KT (a boy and fellow artist she knew while she was in Good Hope as a girl) is in front of her in line. The two quickly reconnect and realize that maybe there has always been more to their story. KT is also back in Good Hope looking for a little R&R and time away from his work and his ex. His art had becoming a job and not the creative outlet and enjoyable as it used to be. Escaping to Good Hope was supposed to recharge his batteries, but it wasn't until he starts spending time with Lolo that he find inspiration and finds his art coming back alive. This is a great and fun read. It is heart warming and has a wonderful Happy ending. We get to see old and new characters and fall back in love with Good Hope. This can be read as a stand a lone or with the other Good Hope: The Next Generations or as a continuation from the original Good Hope series. It is fun to see Lolo and KT all grown up and seeing where their lives has gone, but the story doesn't require you to know the other books.
Another beautifully written and uplifting book by the amazing Cindy Kirk that I completely devoured. . This series is a follow on from Goox Hope series. Good Hope: Next Generation series about the young generation of Good Hope series, now all grown up, navigating adult life. All books in both series can be read as a stand alone, however if you are like me and get completely swept up in the character’s life’, then I would highly recommend reading all books in both Good Hope and Good Hope: Next Generation.
The main character’s of this book, KT and Lolo, previously met during their teenage years (Good Hope series) when their friendship flourished during a summer, sharing their love of art.
Both Lolo and KT have returned to Good Hope for personal reasons. Lolo is healing a broken heart after discovering her boyfriend had cheated on her, KT is trying to reignite his artistic spark. Lola has booked a cabin in Paintbrush Lane, a retreat for artists. With a sprinkle of serendipity, KT is staying in the neighbouring cabin. As with life, the road is never without any bumps. Will Lolo’s heart mend? Will KT find his artistic again? Will love be in the air? You will have to read it to find out.
I devoured this book, especially loving the little nod’s to characters of Good Hood series, bringing back lots of great memories of my previous reads. I highly recommend all the books on both Good Hope series and Good Hope: Next Generation series. I highly recommend any book by the incredibly talented Cindy Kirk.
Belonging: KT & Lolo is the second in the Good Hope: Next Generation series. Whilst you can read this as a standalone, I would go back and start from the beginning! Good Hope is one of my very favourite places and I am so pleased Cindy continued writing about the next generation. I love that we get glimpses of characters that we know and love from the first series.
KT and Lolo met as teenagers and whilst they both loved art they were only ever friends. Fast forward and we find Lolo has been deceived by her no good boyfriend and has gone to stay with her brother and his family in Good Hope, to try and get some perspective and to get away from Jared (who was also a co-worker). KT has gone back to Good Hope where he hopes to find balance and clarity in his life after getting burnt out through corporate work.
When they meet again the sparks fly. When Lolo moves into one of the artist cabins and ends up living next door to KT, their relationship really blossoms. The chemistry is instant and they both know that this time it feels different for both of them. Their friends and family warn them that it's too quick but KT & Lolo know that their love is the real deal. There may be a few bumps in the road but nothing they can't overcome.
This is another delightfully sweet romance, a story of friends to lovers and realising that they don't have to wait to declare their love. Cindy has yet again written a wonderfully warm and cosy story of love and life and I was not disappointed.
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher but all views are my own.
Kaiden "KT" Slattery is the hottest artist in the country. He’s parlayed his talent into financial success. Yet somewhere between custom coffee cups and office park murals, KT lost his spark. Can a teenage romance turn into a love strong enough to rewrite both of their futures? Cindy Kirk is a master storyteller who fills the pages of her novels with great characters that you fall in love with and want to get to know more and more. When I read this book, I was actually looking for certain characters that I hadn't heard about in a while. And when I didn't read about them, I was a little disheartened. But I had nothing to fear because this sweet love story was totally satisfying and gave me that uplifting feeling I always get after reading a Kirk Romance! This review is my honest opinion.
This delightful addition to the Good Hope, Next Generation series reunites us with Lolo Kendrick and KT Slattery, whom we first met as teenagers in the original series. Their friendship blossomed during a summer art class when Lolo was living with her brother. Now adults, they find themselves at a pivotal moment in their lives, leading them both to return to Good Hope for a much-needed regrouping.
Lolo grapples with the aftermath of discovering her boyfriend’s infidelity with the company secretary. She works at the family Construction firm in the design department, where she recently declined a client’s request for KT’s design expertise. KT, a renowned artist who had previously worked corporate gigs, has returned to Good Hope seeking to rekindle his creative spark.
Their paths cross as they both find refuge in local artist cabins, and their reconnected friendship soon evolves into something more. The author’s meticulous development of their bond is truly commendable, and I found myself thoroughly captivated by their journey.
If you’re seeking a delightful and engaging read, this book is undoubtedly worth your time. I received this book from the author for my honest review.
The 2nd Book of the Next Generation series focuses on KT and Lolo. Both Teenage friends from the past that had a wonderful summer together while Lolo was in Good Hope visiting with her brother and sister-in-law.
Years later, they both ended up back in Good Hope both trying to find themselves and to decide where the future was going to take them in their careers. Both of their jobs were of artistic nature and they end up next door neighbors at the cabins that were specifically opened up for the artistic visitors of Good Hope.
As they spent time with each other getting to know each other again, they also found themselves spending time with what they both loved to do as they sketched and drew together.
As they grew closer and the days wound down that would find them having to head back to their towns and the jobs they held. But the big question was could they continue with their relationship, long distance and be the couple they wanted to continue to be and grow together as a couple.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it.
Belonging: KT & Lolo in the 2nd book in the new Good Hope The Next Generation series by Cindy Kirk. Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down as I needed to know what happened in the next chapter & so on. KT & Lolo are both childhood friends that have returned to Good Hope for a break for different reasons. Both are artists in their own way & end up staying beside each other in Paintbrush Lane. Lolo has come back to Good Hope to see her brother Kyle, his wife Eliza & their family. Lol works for the Kendrick family business & after a very bad break up ends up back in Good Hope albeit still working remotely. KT has also returned to Good Hope to not only take a break but try & get his inspiration back for painting. Throughout the course of their respective breaks from life, KT & Lolo end up spending time together that turns into something more. This is a must read if you're a fan of Ms Kirk's Good Hope series as there are glimpses of previous characters within this new series.
Lorraine "Lolo" Kendrick has come back to Good Hope to get away from a breakup and an added bonus be near her older brother. KT "Kaiden Slattery" has also come home to unwind from a break up and reset his career button. Both individuals knew each other one summer when they were teenagers and meet back up years later. As they rekindle their friendship it seems like more is happening within their heart and although their loved ones and friends seems to think its too soon since both are coming out of relationships, can we truly put a stamp on when and where a heart falls in love. I truly enjoy Ms. Kirk second generation Good Hope series seeing the young generation all grown up and finding love. As I was reading this story a set smile was on my face of how the characters brought such believable warmth to me. Its always an added bonus as well seeing other characters from the original Good Hope Series make an appearance.
Lolo Kendricks world has just imploded, her boyfriend cheated on her so she decides to visit Good Hope, and her brother for advice. Lolo’s confidence is at an all time low. She’s an architect and a client isn’t happy with the plans she’s drawn up. The Shaw cabin at Paintbrush Lane provides her place stay and to discover what to do next.
KT Slattery who is now a celebrated artist is also staying at Paintbrush right next door to Lolo. The two of them have a long history together and are delighted to reconnect. KT is staying for the summer after his previous relationship failed and is trying to find his creativity again. Lolo is urged to ask him if he will reconsider taking on the project she’s been working on as that’s what the client wants, she does but doesn’t push when he says no. The two of them start to hang out and they slowly start to fall for each other. All is going well until Lolo’s previous boyfriend turns up and convinces KT that what they’ve been building isn’t real, it’s all a ruse to get him to take the job Lolo asked him about KT takes off leaving Lolo heartbroken. Will this turn out ? You’ll just have to read the book. I’m sure with little help from Gladys Ruby and Katherine all we be ok. I highly recommend this book I found it extremely moving

KT and Lolo were childhood friends who reconnect in Good Hope after they had disastrous breakups. They both end up living in cottages on Paintbrush Lane and are getting to know each other as adults. Lolo's boss is trying to get KT to collaborate on a project, but KT is not interested and tells Lolo that. They have a lot in common with their art, which is a focus of their relationship. But both are worried if they can make a long distance relationship work. With some coordination, they are able to make both the long distance relationship work.
It is great seeing the next generation of Good Hope citizens. It is nice to see that Gladys, Katherine and Ruby are still a part of the foundation, even though they are no longer alive. It was also great to see about the local businesses that are still part of the Good Hope landscape.
There was something so soothing and comforting about KT and Lolo's story. It was also a very romantic journey. I liked the way they both pulled back when life became overwhelming, when they felt like they had lost themselves along the way.
I also liked the way they connected, even when there was that little niggling doubt around Lolo's true purpose for bring in Good Hope. I was intrigued by that fact that Lolo had her own niggling doubt regarding what was expected of her. While their connection kept bring referred to as "fast", there was something about it it that felt more like a slow burn. It didn't seem like they rushed into anything. It just felt right.
This was an uplifting feel good book. I felt like the timing of it was excellent as I needed a low angst feel good read to combat other things going on in life.
Where do I belong? To whom do I belong? Those are questions all of us have asked ourselves at one time or another. KT and Lolo, both, are in the middle of a “belonging” crisis when they get reacquainted. Both have returned to Good Hope to help answer those questions. Good Hope is where family is for both of them; Lolo has her brother and sister-in-law, Kyle and Eliza Kendrick, and their family; KT has his grandparents, Len and Anita, and, for a time his brother Braxton was visiting as well. Good Hope worked it’s magic on KT and Lolo by quieting their spirits and letting them hear the messages inside them that confirmed their talent as artists and what direction they were supposed to be taking with it. Challenges can shut down our inner confidence, especially when significant others mess with our heads and cause us to question our validity as human beings! KT and Lolo find each other and support each other in a way that healed them and brought them together! You’ll find that Cindy Kirk still brings the influence of Gladys, Katherine, and Ruby in a very whimsical way! I love the way she has woven them into her current stories of Good Hope! You will definitely enjoy KT and Lolo’s story!
I always like her Good Hope books the best, and this did NOT disappoint. When Lolo returned to Good Hope to mend a broken heart and a life that was blown apart by her fiancé, it was just to find quiet and healing. When she decided to stay at the artists retreat on Paintbrush lane she was surprised to find famous artist, KT already in one right next door. She had a crush on him when she was young, but more recently he had turned down a job with her company, so it did look like her arrival may have been too much of a coincidence. Bonding ensures but there is always a bit of a niggle that it may have been a set up. A must read for all Cindy Kirk fans. Some do I want to pack it up and move to Good Hope myself!
Belonging: KT and Lolo There are times when opposites don’t always work. The journey of KT and Lolo brought back memories, for me, of when they first met and shared their artistic talent with each other. The man that hurt Lolo, Jared, deserves to be fired for arrogance and how he treated her. I am glad she went to family and Good Hope where healing could happen along with sweet memories of how Katherine had love and shared wisdom with her when she was younger. The 3 matchmakers are still making a difference through the memories they made with everyone. I loved how they figured out how to make their life work and that home is the person you are with.
Lorraine (Lolo) Kendrick and KT Slattery are both at a crossroads. They go back to Good Hope hoping to find the quiet needed to find the peace of mind to help them make the best decisions personally and professionally. The last time they spent any time together Lolo was 12 and KT was 14. As they become reacquainted, they are each other’s sounding board. They have fun, do a lot of talking and inspire each other’s art. Once they both have to go back home, they make their long distance relationship work. KT proposes when they are back in Good Hope for Christmas. All that is left for them to do is figure out where they want to live that suits both of them and their careers.

This next generation of Good Hope characters does not disappoint. We met KT and Lolo in their younger years. They are now back in Good Hope and surprise - neighbors - both are trying to get a breather and rebuild upon their artistic creativity. Will they be able to help one another out and at the same time rekindle that old spark? If you fell in love with the Good Hope Series, truly this next group of yesterday's teenagers does not disappoint!! I received this as an ARC reader and have given my review freely.
At first I had a hard time getting into this story but honestly it’s because of the hustle and bustle of my own life. Sometimes a trip back to Good Hope is exactly what one needs to remember that a change of pace might be needed and I think I needed that reminder as much as the main characters in this story. I absolutely loved reading the romance between KT and Lolo, both their artistic talents and how it’s important to foster that really spoke to me as a person. Also this proposal was the most sweet and endearing one ever!
Ms. Kirk has done a wonderful job with the story for creative artists Lolo and KT. The connection that started as children immediately was visible again as adult characters in the book. Both main characters are in a place of not only rediscovery but learning to trust. Add the conflicts that are written by Cindy Kirk for them to navigate through, the book twists and turns keeping the reader engaged. Definitely a book that I would recommend and characters that many would identify with. Arc Review
This is the 2nd installment in Good Hope - The Next Generation series. Lolo has come back to Good Hope after finding out her boyfriend cheated on her. She is looking for some direction in her personal & professional life. KT has also recently returned to Good Hope hoping to find the same thing. Lolo & KT were friends when they were kids. When they meet again as adults, it’s like they picked up where they left off. I’m a fan of the Good Hope series, as well as this one. I’m sure you will be too.
I received an ARC of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it for the author.
I absolutely love the stories from Good Hope! They never disappoint! KT and Lolo both (each for different reasons) needed a time away from the busyness of their lives to decide what is next so they went to Good Hope! When they unexpectedly run into each other at the grocery store the connection is immediate. It was so great to see them reconnect after all that time since childhood. It’s not all easy though as they have both experienced pain from the past. I highly recommend following along with their journey! You won’t be disappointed!
What an outstanding read! I loved this story about KT and Lolo! Ms. Kirk has a way of writing that makes you see the story and imagine you are a part of Good Hope. This story has many facets of art in it, and I can just imagine them sitting together working on their individual projects together, Lolo on her sketches and KT on his painting.
You will never be disappointed in reading a Cindy Kirk book! They are amazing and I wish I had her talent!
There was so much that was enjoyable about this return trip to Good Hope. I really enjoyed the peacefulness that I felt when reading through the scenes in the cabins, the pines, along the lakes and the beaches. It all felt so serene. I also felt the connection that Lolo and KT had through their love of art. They didn't need to fill each moment they were together. They could just be with each other and that was enough. Great read!
Reading this story is an escape to a world where small towns, good friends and unwavering family support live. KT is in Good Hope for the summer trying to recover from burnout. Lolo comes there to visit her brother when she is uncertain about her talent and place in live. As the two connect, it becomes slowly evident that they are finally where they are suppose to be and with the person that makes their lives whole. A sweet and heartwarming read.
It great that this series is going strong. I love that the new generation of the town is involved but always bittersweet to miss the OG 3 ladies of good hope. I enjoyed the dynamic of two creatives in a relationship and trying to handle things from the past and finding their way through it all.
I did win a giveaway copy but would have bought it either way ! A great series
I'm so happy the author Cindy Kirk has once again visited the quaint town of Good Hope and all of the lovely characters that made cameo appearances. This story even brings us back to the 3 town matriarchs and their matchmaking abilities! I fell in love with Kyle and Lolo again, remembering them from their earlier appearances in Good Hope. This is certainly a feel good story which I couldn't put down and read in one day. Highly recommend it!
This is a great read for anyone who has needed to find clarity and a road map for their future. KT & Lolo returned to Good Hope to find what would make them happy in their lives and careers. They found what they needed in each other and were both able to develop a better work balance by discovering what they wanted in life. The outcome with Lolo's ex Jared was my favorite part since I love when karma comes to bite back.
