Mexico City - 1994

Lucy has spent her whole life chasing one her mother’s pride.

With a bachelor’s degree collecting dust and a corkboard full of unfulfilled dreams, she’s ready to take the risk of a lifetime by competing in an international dance contest. Winning could mean more than just stepping into a new future—it might finally prove she’s good enough.

But Mexico City throws more than just altitude sickness her way when Ricardo—charming, infuriating, and way too attractive for his own good—enters the picture. What starts as a clash of personalities soon turns into a spark neither of them expected. As Lucy navigates competition, ambition, and her own insecurities, she must decide if her carefully laid plans are worth risking for the kind of love she’s always felt was out of reach.

In a whirlwind of romantic tension, laugh-out-loud moments, and personal discovery, Lucy’s journey proves that sometimes the spotlight isn’t the brightest place to find yourself.

A heart-stopping tango of dreams and desire.

"Viva La Loose?" by the charismatic author Julia Heart is a cheeky, sparkling romp that makes your eyes fly over the pages as if you were glamoured. This incredibly feel-good read is the second book in the series "Love Takes the Stage" that can be enjoyed as a standalone, but reading it after the first book, "The Jewels of January", would surely enhance the experience.

In the glow of dazzling stages, fearless hearts defy obstacles, spark unexpected romance, and embark on journeys of self-reinvention. Among them the protagonists, Lucy and Ricardo, tug at the tenderest heartstrings, making their sassy, alluring, and pulse-pounding tango in life utterly unforgettable.

"The firelight flickered across her face, and for a moment everything else vanished." That's exactly how everything else vanished in a flicker the second I started reading this joyous hymn of love. From the very first page, this novella establishes itself as a breezy and effervescent tale, inviting readers into a world where romance dances with irreverent wit. It’s swoon-worthy—a playful romp packed with uproarious laughs, yet layered with tender, heart-stopping moments that make you believe in love, family bonds, and friendship again.

Julia Heart has raised the bar to dazzling new heights, brilliantly elevating her craft to deliver a work that eclipses her debut triumph. The narrative is as zany as it is sweet, effortlessly blending snappy dialogue and clever twists that keep the pace vibrant and engaging. Every chapter is an invigorating journey, uplifting the spirit and sparkling with delightful chemistry. The beautiful and heartwarming conclusion left me yearning the caress of the sequel.

In sum, this rom-com novella is a truly irresistible read—a vibrant, witty, and feel-good escapade that will steal your heart and keep you smiling long after the final page.

I loved this book! It was the second book in Love Takes the Stage. It is a standalone so technically you don’t have to read the Jewels of January but you should because Julia is an amazing writer.
I enjoyed how both Lucy and Ricardo both felt like had something to live up to all while wanting something different from themselves. It made the characters real and relatable. I also enjoyed the culture of Mexico City was. It was like traveling in a book with great food recommendations. There were many things of this book I enjoyed and I cannot wait to see where more this series takes off.
It is a clean romance, quick read and full of fun.
