Nadeshiko, Ena, and new OEC member Ema continue their Golden Week camping trip in the Gunma area stopping at one place and then making their way to Lake Nozori.
I feel like Japan's tourism board should sponsor this series. I think it is the primary way I get ideas of places in Japan I might like to visit in the future. :) Afro's artwork is stunning. The camping food prep is likely to make you hungry unless you strategically time when you read this. I feel like there's more food prep than usual in this one as Ema gets introduced to camp cooking. The inner flap comics in this volume about the pace of life in the manga vs the real world are pretty funny too. Pick this up for some cozy, low drama, arm chair tourism of Japan.
Notes on content: Language: None Sexual content: None Violence: None Ethnic diversity: The girls are all Japanese. LGBTQ+ content: None specified. Other: Might make you hungry.
Cute girls doing cute things, which is the theme of this whole manga, continues. The first half is all about cooking, and the second is more about traveling and camping. I had less of the sense that the series is kinda over and that Afro was dragging it out, but there was a lack of real connection between the girls. It's hard when one of the three characters is new, one is more of a side character, and one's development has come to a grinding halt. I miss Rin and the OECs report with one another.
Centered around 2 of my favorites hell yeah This was definitely less character focused especially compared to recent volumes but I didn’t mind too much. I have a feeling the next volume will be very character heavy with Rin and Aya. Also that meta bit at the end? Wtf- happy ten years!!
(Also I was lowkey invested in the conversation between those two guys in Ema’s dream…)
3.5 stars, rounded up because I love the series. This volume felt more like a travel guide to Gunma than a story about Nadeshiko and Co., but I still enjoyed it.
