Break the Ice

From USA Today Bestselling author Alexandra Silva comes a dark, emotional MMF hockey romance of love, loss, and the lines we were never meant to cross.

They say love melts the coldest hearts.
But what if the ice was the only thing keeping you alive?

Elijah Sylkes was my first everything—my first kiss, my first love, my first heartbreak. The boy who left me behind in the shadows of the religious cult we grew up in. Now he’s back, fierce and silent, carrying me out of the life I never thought I’d escape and into one I never thought I’d have.

LA is loud, bright, and terrifying… and Elijah is impossible to read. He carries his pain like armor, every wall higher than the last.

Then there’s Jayden Morrow. His best friend. His teammate. The sunshine to Elijah’s brooding storm. Jayden makes me laugh when I’ve forgotten how. He looks at Elijah like he hung the stars… and sometimes, I catch him looking at me the same way.

The three of us are circling something dangerous. Something forbidden. Something that could cost us everything.

But the closer we get, the harder it is to stop.
And maybe we don’t want to.

Because once you break the ice, there’s no going back…

WARNING: Break the Ice is book 1 in the Comets Duet. It contains themes and situations that some people may find triggering. For more info go to the author's website.

I felt like I wore my heart on my sleeve throughout this whole book, every character had me feeling so many emotions. I fell in love with each character, they each had their own hardships and things they struggled with personally. This book is book one of a duet so be prepared to be left on a cliffhanger, but it’s so worth it. Elijah and Jaylen are on our the hockey team the Comets & they are a fantastic team especially when they work together on the ice, but everyone has a past & when Elijah learns that his one love is being betrothed to someone else, so he does the only thing he can do & rescues her. Finley has been through so much especially since Eli left, my heart absolutely broke for her. Throughout this book you will see Finley truly become herself outside of the cult like situation she grew up in & it’s truly amazing! Her heart has always belonged to Elijah since they were little, but now with Jayden coming into fold she finds herself falling for him as well, but she sees him through the mask he wears when it comes to Elijah. When it looks like things are going to finally fall into place between the three of them a bomb is dropped which in return had me needing the next book! I loved these characters so much & to know Elijah struggles so much it makes my heart so sad for him. I will definitely be reading the next book because it can’t be the end especially now.

Alexandra, the woman you are..
you’re kidding me with this book, right??? You are now officially my favorite dark hockey romance writer. I LOVE Finley, Jayden and Elijah so much 🥹 despite all the sh*tty stuff that happens in this book, it’s still one of the best books I’ve ever read. The connection that they have… can’t wait to read book 2 in the duet and see what you have in store for them (and us).

Because the cliffhanger? Mean.

Gimme the next book please 😭

Takes three to love

BREAK THE ICE from Author Alexandra Silva is the second book in her Los Angeles Comets hockey series, and the first of a duet involving Elijah Sylkes, Finley Tomes and Eli's teammate Jayden Morrow. It's the first book I've read from her and I was glad to have picked it up because it was everything I thought it would be and more.

Elijah and Finley both grew up in an abusive atmosphere within a religious cult. Everything you’ve read about them is what you'll find as they recall their past, helpfully told in italics. They were quiet and introspective, still overshadowed by the tenets literally beaten into them as they were punished for perceived transgressions. I thought I had an idea of who suffered the most trauma when I started reading BREAK THE ICE, but Ms Silva turned that all on its head and I was left heartbroken for them.

Jayden had an nonconventional family who were filled with unconditional love and perfect for a young man who carried an interest in both sexes. I adored Ms Silva's writing, her prose as Jayden admitted to himself the strength of feelings he had for not only Finley, but for Elijah as well, yet contrary to his own typical outgoing self, who was open about his sexuality, he hid those feelings deep!

With Eli having brought Finley to live with him as his to protect from The Family, the chemistry between them all was INSANE! Ms Silva beautifully and descriptively wrote each characters fall into complicated, forbidden love with each other and the struggle to keep their own feelings in check. Just wow. Chapter 19 from Eli's POV was a fun and innocuous bet coming together with a binding spit-handshake between the three of them turning into a heated exchange;

“It takes me forever to find my voice. Finley’s stare is burning into me, my body is broiling in anticipation, and Jayden’s biting his lip—licking it like he can taste the mix of the three of us squelching between our palms.”

Not much to see there it would seem, but holy crap on a cracker, the tension between them could've been cut with a knife 😱

I didn't find BREAK THE ICE to be particularly dark, well not in what I would consider the usual sense with morally grey heroes who will raze anything to the ground to protect the one who holds his heart ❤️ Dark and upsetting themes surrounding the religious cult within which Eli and Fin grew up is what you'll find within the virtual pages where Ms Silva has treated her characters with much love and respect.

What I absolutely loved was to see that healing, love and passion with the right person/people was achievable and as Finley healed and grew into the person she was always meant to be, she was also very aware while still realistically naive about their connection and this has to be my favourite quote of the book;

“My love for Elijah has lit a bone deep affection for Jayden and the way he cares for Elijah… for me. I don’t know what that means, but I know that it feels monumental. Intrinsical to the people we are and that we are growing into.”

I thought things would come together for them in some way, so was gutted when the story turned in another direction. The family wanted Finley back because she belonged to them. A sinister present arrived and a ghost from Eli's own past resurfaced. It seemed that what could go wrong for him did go wrong. Again, my heart broke for him!!!

Bear in mind that this is the first book in a duet so I was gobsmacked at the ending. Thankfully, Ms Silva has already released book two, CROSS THE LINE, so that is going to be the next book I hit. I'll reiterate that I'm glad I've picked up this book and recommend it as great reading carrying 4.5-there's-three-of-us-in-this-relationship-Stars🏒•🩵☆

Break The Ice is not just a romance — it’s an emotional reckoning. This MMF, bi-awakening, dark hockey duet cracked me open and left me breathless. Alexandra Silva delivers a story so raw and powerful, you feel every wound, every whisper of hope, and every ounce of love these characters bleed onto the page.

Elijah and Finley’s trauma runs deep — scars carved by years of manipulation, loss, and survival. Their past in the cult haunts every choice they make, and Silva doesn’t shy away from showing that pain. Then there’s Jayden — a light in their darkness — whose warmth and quiet strength become the bridge between healing and heartache. Together, the three of them navigate forbidden desire, rediscovered trust, and the kind of love that doesn’t fit inside the world’s rules.

This isn’t an easy story. It’s intense, deeply emotional, and beautifully written. I had to brace myself for the emotions that poured from every page — the fear, the guilt, the longing, the desperate need to be seen and safe. It’s the kind of story that burrows under your skin and lingers long after you close the book.

And that cliffhanger? Absolutely gutting. The ending left me reeling — shattered but hopeful. Their story is far from over, and I’m desperate for what comes next.

Trigger Warnings: childhood trauma, religious cult themes, emotional and physical abuse, PTSD, references to sexual coercion/manipulation, and recovery from systemic control. These are handled with care and authenticity but may be distressing for some readers.

Break The Ice is powerful. Moving. Gripping. It’s not just a love story — it’s survival, healing, and rediscovery. I felt every emotion down to my bones. Alexandra Silva didn’t just write a romance… she wrote a revolution of the heart.

I received a free ARC of this book, and this review is only my opinion.

This is my first book by this author and after seeing it posted on IG. The teasers that the author posted had me intrigued. I love dark hockey romances and that alone had me ordering the paperback - which is even more gorgeous once I got it.

Why choose and hockey books are my favorite and so of course I had to give this one a read. This book covers some pretty hardcore dark themes, a couple I haven't really read before so it was something new for me. The first book is the duet that does end on a cliffhanger... god I hate those.

Elijah and Finley have lived through some terrible experiences together which has left them bonded for life. Their love for each other and their shared trauma at the hand of the Fellowship. I haven't read the first book but it is on my list.

There is so much back and forth that for me at times it took a little longer to get through. But once I got into the main bulk of the story... damn. This book was devasting and emotionally raw that at times it was overwhelming to read. The story was beautifully written. It was a slow burn with characters that are flawed but slowly begin to heal but so far never quite getting there.

It was quite a powerful story that covered a lot of not only mental health topics but physical ones too. I really liked how the story progressed and how the characters were slowly able to almost fit together like a puzzle. So many demons and trauma but yet somehow it seems to bring Elijah, Finley and JJ together.

I'm really hoping that we get more of Elijah and Finley in the next book because as much as I love Finley and JJ together. I would love to see them all together. I really can't wait to read the next book.

After having read Falling Offsides I've been looking so forward to more from this world! As soon as I found out about this duet I added it to my TBR list right away. I jumped right back into the Los Angeles Comets world. I enjoyed this first book so much!

This first installment in Finley, Elijah, and Jayden's journey pulled me in quickly! Jayden and Elijah are best friends and both hockey players for the Los Angeles Comets. Finley and Elijah grew up in a cult together and had something until it ended. Now Finley is no longer in the cult and it brings Elijah back into her life and introduces her to Jayden. As Finley, Elijah, and Jayden are brought together, could they be more?

Jayden, Elijah, and Finley got my heart and I right into their story! I adored getting to see these three be brought together. I didn't know how Finley, Jayden, and Elijah would take on things they'd been through in their lives and everything between them which had me even more glued to their story.

My heart shattered for everything that Elijah and Finley went through in their lives. They are such strong souls. Jayden got right into my heart right along with Elijah's and Finley's. They had such great chemistry and showed such realness throughout. I went through all kinds of emotions throughout reading with these three!

With Break the Ice, Ms.Silva has created such a good start to this dark MMF romance that brought depth that got to me, hockey, and many feels to this heart of mine! I can't wait to find out what happens next for these three in book two, Cross the Line! 🏒

Be sure to check out the author's content/trigger warnings.

If you love a book with so much emotion, one that will have you feeling like your wearing your heart on your sleeve, and characters that will make you feel more than you ever imagined then this book is for you.

Because these characters will make you want to fall in love with them as they each face their own personal struggles, hardships that they have experienced personally.

Elijah and Jaylen are on the Comets hockey team, together they rule the ice. A past that Elijah has worked hard to put behind him, comes full circle as the one and only love of his life, Finley is set to marry someone else, learning this, he does the unthinkable, extricating her to safety.

What Eli doesn’t realise is that time doesn’t heal all wounds, because when he left, Finley was left to endure a life, one that was not in her control. She has been through so much pain and trauma, your heart will just break for her.

As you read there story, you will see Finley become another version of herself, one where she has power to make her own choices and freedom to be who she is without restriction, this is powerful in itself.

With freedom, comes love, a love that has always and ever only belonged to Elijah since they were children, and now Finely has to contend with her feelings for Jaylen, because she can’t help falling for him as well, yet despite the mask he wears, and when it comes to Elijah, she sees right through him, and that’s what scares him the most.

And just as everything has settled and is falling into place for our threesome, a threat that they didn’t see coming, threatens to destroy everything that they have built and all that they hold dear.

What a cliffhanger! Can’t wait to read book 2, come at me!

Highly recommend both the author and this book.

“You can’t stop your heart from feeling what it does. From wanting who it wants.”

Break The Ice, the second installment in the Los Angeles Comets Series and the first in a gripping duet, delivers a breathtaking surge of emotion and intensity. At its core are Elijah, Finley, and Jayden—three souls entangled in a web of trauma, longing, and unexpected connection. Elijah and Finley, scarred by their harrowing escape from a controlling church cult, are desperately trying to reclaim their shattered identities. Their journey toward healing is raw and painful, and Jayden emerges as a quiet force of grace—a soothing balm to their wounded spirits.

“Happiness is having the possibility of being who you are without fear of judgement.”

This story doesn’t just tug at your heartstrings—it yanks them. As secrets from the past threaten to unravel the fragile bonds they've begun to form, you’ll find yourself completely immersed in their emotional odyssey. The characters are achingly real, their pain palpable, their hope fragile but fierce. And just when you think you’ve caught your breath, the book ends on a cliffhanger that leaves you gasping for more.

“They’re home. They’re everything that grounds me. My personal tethers to the wider world.”

Break The Ice is not just a read—it’s an experience. Addictive, devastating, and beautifully written, it will leave you bleeding for these characters and cheering them on as they fight for love, healing, and redemption.

✨️ARC Review✨️ Break The Ice is part 1 of a duet and thankfully we only have to wait a couple more weeks for part 2 cuz I NEED to see our throuple get their HEA!

Finley and Elijah are high school sweethearts, kind of. They grew up in a religious cult (TW - abuse). Jayden is Elijah's hockey teammate, neighbor and best friend.

This is very slow burn, almost a YA feel for a good bit, which I don't usually choose but boy did I fall in love with these three! Alexandra really digs into character development, delving deep into their feelings. She had me near tears several times.

The religious trauma that both Finley and Elijah experience is tragic. They've been taught to feel so guilty about love and intimacy and I just wanted to hug them and say "you're normal; it's okay!"

Jayden is such a good friend. He offers humor at times and a comforting shoulder at others. Plus he's got a freakin' dirty mouth 🥵 I love throuple scenes; these are a little different and I was OBSESSED. Alexandra does a wonderful job with spicy scenes, descriptive, full of feelings and natural feeling.

I absolutely cannot wait to read part 2! I don't want to give away how things end but it's a bit of a cliffhanger and I just need to know everyone is okay.

Break the Ice is one of those books that comes out of nowhere and holds your heart in a vice for the entire read! It focuses on the lives of Elijah, Finley, and Jayden in a beautiful, angsty, world where Elijah and Finley have escaped the religious cult they were born and raised in. Enter Jayden--Elijah's hockey teammate & best friend-- who is the anchor of safety and peace for them as they navigate and discover themselves in a new world outside of how they were raised.

This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time; it was a nonstop feeling of "Will they make it? Will she be taken back?" all while also yearning for the characters to accept who they were and find the love they deserved. It is a very slow burn; however, it felt very real to read about these characters' pain, struggles, fragility, and all of the mental anguish each faced due to their own backgrounds and how they were growing into the complex, beautiful characters they were by the end of the book. This is a duet so it does leave off on one heck of a cliffhanger, but I promise, the story is worth it. Break the Ice makes you FEEL every single moment of Elijah, Finley, and Jordan's journey. Even with its dark and angering themes, it was a pleasure to read and left me with so much hope that these three will get their happily ever after!

Break The Ice by Alexandra Silva is book 2 of the Los Angeles Comets series. This is the first book of a Dark MMF Hockey Romance duet following Elijah Sylkes, Jayden Morrow and Finley-James Tomes. Break The Ice does end with a cliffhanger so if that is not your thing, book 2 of the duet will release 10/30/2025. 🚩🚩I cannot stress this enough…there are dark themes that may be triggering, so please check out the content warning before you dive in 🚩🚩

My thoughts 💭
🏒Be still my heart, although each one of the main characters have different reasons that cause them heartache Elijah was the hardest for me. I couldn’t put this book down, what he and Finley experienced growing up breaks my heart so much but what he experiences now as an adult is so heartbreaking and I just wanted to wrap him up and hold him. Finleys innocence and trauma is written so perfectly and respectfully, you get to see her character growth unfold beautifully. Jayden is such a light in their life and loves so unconditionally, you can’t help but want to protect that human. This is such a beautiful story being told and I cannot wait to see how their story ends because they need a HEA. If anyone deserves it, these 3 do the most. Read this book…this series…you won’t regret it.

To say I loved this book would be an understatement. I would give it 10 stars if I could. I want to scream about these characters! I say scream because I want everyone to hear me. As a reader we know what it's like to read THAT BOOK.
The one that grips you from page one.
The one that speaks to your soul on a whole different level.
The one that makes you feel like your heart is living on the pages.
The one where the characters become part of you and you can't imagine your life without them.
The story that knocks you off your feet and you're not the same after you finished it.
The one that made your heart grow in size.
This is that book for me.
I completely fell in love with Jayden first. My heart was with Finely on each page and reading her transform in to the person she was always meant to be was so beautiful. I love and adore her. Then there was Elijah. As I live and breathe I have never read a character like him. My heart was in my throat in every chapter of his. When he finally turns and sees them there with him and for him it made my heart soar.
These 3 own my heart in such a special way.
I can't wait for the next book to be released.

The Comets Duet Book 1 - Los Angeles Comets

This had my in a vice the entire way through waiting for the other shoe to drop and damn I wasn't expecting that!

Finley is ready for her new start away from all the pain to be with the one boy who she has loved forever, Elijah, but he's not alone his a best friend Jayden who is all the bright part of Eli's dark, and there is a pull towards them both that she is ready to give in to.

Wow, where to start this was a fantastic read and I am so ready for the next one already! I loved meeting all the characters and seeing that support they all give each other, Admittedly I have come into this series without reading book 1 but I am excited to jump back to it.

If you are ready to fall into every emotion on the planet then this is 100% for you, I felt so much throughout and I think I need to fall apart a bit more before being put back together again, I would recommend that you give this a read and feel with me.
For fans of Hockey Romance, Romantic Suspense, Found Family, Healing from Trauma, Bi-Awakening and some delicious Spicy goodness.

Break The Ice is the first part of the Comets Duet and the second book in the Los Angeles Comets series. It is a MFM, second chance, hockey romance with traumatized MC's, danger, mystery, emotion, angst, and more. It is told in first person with multiple POV's.

Finley and Elijah have been through the dark side of life, but now that they are both free, their damage threatens to keep them apart. Jayden is the perfect complement to Finley and Elijah and may be just what they both need.

This was such an amazing read! The emotion, the chemistry between the characters, and the angst were all literally palpable. I loved the emotional roller coaster that the story took me on. I loved how each of the relationships grew and developed at their own pace. My heart cried for these characters and all they've survived, and for the lasting shadows that haunt them.

The writing, flow, and pace of the story was terrific as were the characters, plot, storyline, storytelling, character development, relationship development, and world building. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys emotionally damaged characters, healing themes, an intriguing plot, and looming danger.

This book took me by complete surprise, I absolutely loved it!
It’s MfM, we have our mfc Finley who grew up loving Elijah but were never to be together due to growing up in the church with strict and warped views meaning they would be betrothed to others, Elijah left to be in the NHL & Finley got left behind to deal with the church. When Finely finally manages to break free she runs to Elijah who is waiting for her with open arms however he’s a changed man now too. Things happened in Elijah’s past which he cannot deal with due to the warped upbringing in the church & his own experiences but playing hockey keeps his head on, his partner on the Ice Jayden is his best friend and knows him best now. When Finley bursts back into Elijah’s life she gets very familiar with Jayden too. With Elijah holding back and Jayden being willing to give Finley the affection she needs lines blur quickly but when Finley gets the sense that there’s more to Elijah & Jayden’s friendship than meets the eye the three work out how they can all get their needs met.
Such a slow burn, the characters & connections are built up so well & I can’t wait for the next part in this duet! 🥰

The first book in the Comets duet, and this story focuses on the relationship between Elijah, Jayden and Finley and the problems they face. Elijah had escaped from a brutal cult, finding friendship with Jayden and a career and family of sorts with the Comets where he was happy until he heard that the girl he’d left behind in the cult was about to be married off, something he couldn’t let happen.

Break the Ice was so not your typical ice hockey romance but one laden with angst and all the emotions giving a lot of depth to the protagonists' story. It wasn’t difficult to see how the future lay for this particular threesome but but then again, this book was more about the development of their relationship and not just in a physical aspect as they find a way to be together. Finley especially had a lot to contend with her new life will living with the fear of what would happen if the cult got their hands on her. With engaging characters, you can’t help but care for I can’t wait for the release of the second part of this duet

That cliffhanger though.

First things first.

Seeing someone with the same type of migraine as I have was great to read. It is comforting to see it displayed as the life changing brain disease it is. It changes your life and it changes your view of life. Thank you for that.

This book was so freaking good. I had no idea what was going to happen. It was so much darker than the previous book in this series. I loved it.

Especially Jayden. I'm convinced this guy shits rainbows and unicorns. He probably eats sunshine for breakfast. Anyways, I love him and I need more. So much more.

It's not hard to see that Finley and Eli are meant to be together, but Jayden is their glue. He fits in all their cracks and together they're the perfect match.

Cults freak me out. All those people freak me out. I don't like it, lol. I'm just glad they got out. And I'm hoping they'll be able to let go of all their beliefs in the next book. It'll be hard, but with the help and support of the people around them... I'm sure they could make it work.

THAT CLIFFHANGER THOUGH.

I just finished Break The Ice and I’m honestly obsessed. This book completely consumed me. The emotions, the tension, the love, I felt everything.

Eli, JJ, and Fin ❤️ I’m so in love with their dynamic. The bond between them is beautiful, messy, and so real. Every scene they shared had my heart in a chokehold. The way they support, challenge, and love each other felt so raw.

Eli especially broke me. He’s such a layered, complex character, and my heart ached for him the entire time. I just want him to find peace and get the help he deserves. Watching his struggles made his moments of connection even more powerful.

And that cliffhanger?! I was not ready. It absolutely shattered me. I just sat there staring at the last page in disbelief. I need the next book immediately.

If you love stories with emotional depth, strong character bonds, and a romance that will both break and heal you, Break The Ice is 100% a must-read. These characters have my whole heart. 💔❤️

This is a dark hockey romance and it touches on some dark and touchy subjects. Every single one of these main characters face some inner demons and struggle with something dark inside. It has a very heavy church trauma layer to it. Eli and Finley, wow, my heart broke for them at what they had to endure. As much as it was hard to read, it was raw and it added a lot of depth to this story and to the characters. Eli and Finley were so beautiful together. She was so sweet and he was her anchor and support. We got to witness their connection develop as the pages turn. And then we add in our Jayden. And he just FIT perfectly and made sense. He was the reliable one everyone could trust. And there was this connection and pull between the three of them. They all struggled internally, but this was a story of acceptance, of accepting who you truly were. And now….that dang ending!!!! That cliffhanger!!!! The way I sat there just looking at the last page. No, I was not ready!

Holy smokes. This was not at all what I expected. Admittedly, I somehow didn’t get it on my list of ARCs I applied for and forgot what it was about. So I went in blind a bit. I’m glad I did so I could give an unbiased opinion about my reactions.

At first, these characters were hard for me to relate to because they were so closed off emotionally. However, as the book progressed, they opened up both emotionally and experientially. There was a lot of religious trauma that affected two of the MCs, Finley and Elijah, throughout the whole book. However, Jayden provided a perfect balance and helped both of them come out of their shell a bit toward the end. Unfortunately, both Elijah and Finley have pieces of their past that continue to haunt them.

This book ended on a cliffhanger so I suspect that the same storyline/characters will be continued in the next book which I’m looking forward to reading. I would definitely encourage readers to check the trigger warnings before diving into this.

break the ice by alexandra silva is an extreme slow burn MMF hockey romance. it follows finley, jayden, and elijah.

all three of them have all been through some life changing experiences in which have shaped them into the people that they are now. some worse than others, and some scars deeper than others.

regardless of that, they’re hearts were still beating not just for one or the other but for each other. while it is slow burn, the spice is still pretty hot.

break the ice doesn’t fully revolve around hockey but each of their stories more specifically eli and finley’s. i believe that the portrayal of their story and all eli, finley, and jayden’s relationship were told very well. especially with how they navigated through certain moments for eli.

highly recommend reading if you love extreme slow burns, past traumas, and relationships that don’t just show love but tell a story as well. enjoy! 🤭.

“Jayden’s my best friend. He’s my teammate, we’re partners and—”
“He is in love with you.” The hitch of his breath is visceral, sucking all the air from my lungs. “It’s so obvious that it hurts to watch him pine over you. I hurt for him. That’s how much Jayden loves you.”
“No, that’s not… he doesn’t want me like that.”
“He wants you like I want you. With everything. More than anything in the whole damn universe.”

I was hooked to this book. It was emotional and captivating and you really feel connected to these characters in this journey that they're on. I loved Jayden, Elijah, and Finley. Eli and Fin had grown up in an abusive religious cult, and the weight and trauma of that tinged them as they figured out their feelings and began to heal... and fall in love. I loved Jayden the most. I was really invested in the three of them and happy I got to read this book and it's continuation, "Cross the Line," back-to-back. This is the first story I've read by this author. 4 stars

Ohhh emmm geee!!! That ending!!! I’m still spiraling — my heart is shattered and I need Cross the Line in my hands right now.

This story hit me so hard. Eli and Fin… my poor heart broke for both of them. Childhood friends torn apart by life (and honestly, her brother got exactly what he deserved 👀). The tension, the history, the longing — it was everything.

And then Jayden. Wow. He’s the missing piece neither of them realized they needed. The way he fit into their dynamic felt so natural, like he’d been there all along. And the way he supported Eli — even when Eli didn’t know he needed it — was beautiful.

There’s also the heavy layer of “church” trauma that was written in such a raw, heartbreaking way. It added so much depth to the story and made me ache for these characters even more.

This book is emotional, intense, and unforgettable. I’m equal parts broken and desperate for more.

Ive really enjoyed this book. Break the ice tackles the story of 2 people who have grown up indoctrinated into a cult in which religion is all and used as justification for horrendous actions. Eli and Finley are childhood sweethearts, Eli left years before for Hockey and manages to get Finley out before shes married off. She finds herself between Eli and Jayden, 2 best friends and partners on the ice, also where there are hidden feelings. The tension and slow burn is spot on! The spice once it gets going is hot and JJ is down right delicious. The watching has me rethinking things about myself. Im heart hurt for Elijah and what he is going through in this book. It ends on a cliffhanger which has officially broken me. Im so ready for book 2 which is Cross the Line and thats available 30th October!

devastatingly addictive in the best way

This book was recommended by a friend and as soon as she mentioned the tropes I knew I needed to read it. You think you are prepared for a story and then while reading it, the story just sucks you in and grabs a hold of your soul with no intention of letting go.

The author wrote these charscters feelings and trauma with a gut punch to the feels. I felt every ounce of their confusion, their temptation, their angst and their need.

This book is a slow burn when the chemistry is so strong between these 3 that even the simplest touch has me sweating.

I want to wrap these characters up in a bubble and never let them go. Alexandra is stuck with me as a fan for life (blame Kat!)

Now onto the next book in the duet and I’m torn between taking it slow or devouring it becusee I know I will be so sad when it’s over.

This is the second book in this impressive series, and the first past of a new duet.
Elizah and Finley grew up in a religious cult, and he was her first everything, until he broke her heart. Jayden is Elijah’s best friend and teammate, and there is a connection between the three of them.
Be aware of the trigger warning due to sensitive content!
This is a well written slow burn, with found family, friendships, emotions, loss, trauma, secrets, tension, forbidden love, second chances, revelations, healing, undeniable chemistry, and is an entertaining, haunting, and unpredictable, dark hockey romance, which tugs at the heartstrings throughout.
I look forward to reading more from these talented authors’ whose work I highly recommend.

If you love dark hockey romances with more than one love interest hero’s that ane flawed amd broken and heroines that you cannot help but fall in love with , you absolutely need to read this series . I have to say after reading and falling completely in love with the first book , I really did not think I could llove anything more . But Elijah , Finley and Jayden they definitely had my heart . The things they have endured. The emotional toll it took on their lives , the obstacles, the trauma, the demons . So beautifully broken . Watching the three of them help support and love each other. Wow. Just… wow.

This book completely wrecked me in the best, most soul-shattering way. Break the Ice is raw, emotional, and beautifully messy. It’s one of those stories that crawls under your skin and refuses to leave.

Elijah, Jayden, and Finley (😭) are all walking trauma in different ways, and the way Alexandra Silvia intertwines their pain, healing, and connection was chef’s kiss. The emotional tension? Off the charts. The slow burn? Agonizingly perfect. And the found-family/team dynamics? I’d die for them, honestly.

If you like your books with deep emotion, complex relationships, and just the right amount of ache… this one’s going to hurt so good.

And don’t forget THAT CLIFFHANGER

woooow what an emotional journey this took me on.

This is very heavy at times and my heart absolutely broke these 3.

All 3 of them have been through it but they each offer something for each other. Watching them explore everything while also dealing with what they did was a rollercoaster. I really enjoyed their relationship and their dynamic.

I will say that with this being a duet, the 537 pages was extremely long for the first book. I think maybe doing it at a trilogy or something would have been better, but the length through me off some.
