A girl meant for something greater than her city life and barista job. A Frost King set on vengeance for those who locked him away in eternity.
Callie is having a hard time in her life. While she loves being a barista, it barely pays the bills, and she is always stuck watching reruns every night. Everything changes when she receives a letter about her grandmother's passing and how she is inheriting her house. Having nothing left to lose, she packs everything up, quits her job, and moves into her new home. She quickly realizes that so much has been hidden from her and the house is not what it seems.
I love Callie's character so much; even in the face of death, she hides her fear by being sarcastic and using banter. It's always a breath of fresh air when the main character isn't serious and is barely an adult half the time. I relate to Callie so much, especially the sarcasm. I'm hardly ever serious, and honestly, being serious is boring. I loved reading Bound and Ice and watching as the story unfolded and the plot thickened. I can't wait to read book 2 in the Frostfire Chronicles!

August 10, 2025I didn't get very far. The writing was rather flowery and as the story starts with a non-human character who felt too villainy to me to feel any connection to, I ended up opting out.
