We started with Blood & Loyalty and progressed onto Blood & Betrayal. Though the paths of these characters are forever changing and becoming as action packed as ever, blood is always a constant.

The cry of war is now out in the open, the rumors have been confirmed. Despite alliances made and differences put on hold, push comes to shove, every man has his own agenda. Two sides are up against each other and they have each witnessed bloodshed, though the raging fire of war is only a flame on its way to becoming a forest fire. Little does everyone know that despite the loyalty they had built, betrayal lingers in the air and it has no mercy.

The Blood sagas (book two); Blood & Betrayal was such a brilliant sequel to The Blood Sagas (Book one); Blood & Loyalty.

Avery Brown has delivered yet another gripping book to The Blood Sagas Series. The minute I picked up book two I was transported back into the world where I left of, with its bloodshed, death, drugs, money, politics, prostitutes, lust, love, loyalty and betrayal all upheld as strongly as book one. I instantly started to remember the characters and their ever distinctive characteristics and dialogue styles.
It is always a good sign when you can return to a story and feel as though you never truly left.

As well as rediscovering and deepening my connection with the previous characters of this story, I was introduced to a few new faces that I feel had been implemented well.
Sometimes it can be hard to have so many characters on the go, but with the flow of the plot and great pacing it isn't as overwhelming, and I feel it adds a sense of freshness and new interest.

There was a moment in this book where I sat back and realized just how well written it was. From the politics and democracy to the grudges and bloodshed, Avery Brown reminds us that though there is a war to be fought, the men fighting have a life of their own outside of the heated hatred of diplomacy. They each have families and lives filled with issues of their own. I felt that I had been reading the book and only looking at the bigger picture but when you take a closer look betrayal in this instance affects more than just the agendas of war. This just shows how layered this book truly is and how upon continuing further into the plot the author has been able to shine a light into the lives of his characters and show us as readers just how high the stakes are for those who live their lives with the passion to protect all they love.

Women play an important role in book two, as their strength, strong mindedness, and powerful demeanour is further revealed. I also felt that the Shyne way of life was explored on a deeper level, with Mugasa and Dempaku weighing in a balance of its own greater than any war.

When I wrote my review for book one I felt as though The Blood Sagas is a series that is bound to go places. There is no doubt that this series will continue to grow strong. I also believe that The Blood Sagas would make a great film or television series, accompanied by epic merchandise. I can only hope that other readers discover these books and join in my opinion. It may only be book two, but I know for sure Avery Brown will continue to deliver us more gripping books as addictive as the last.

Loyalty dances with Betrayal, but it is Sacrifice that plays the music.

Avery Brown has done it again! The Blood Sagas Book II: Blood & Betrayal is an absolutely thrilling book of the series. From the very first page, I was completely engrossed in the high-stakes drama, intense action, and deep emotional conflicts that drive this installment forward.

The character development in this book is phenomenal. They face even greater challenges, forcing them to make impossible choices that test their loyalty, strength, and morals. The betrayals hit hard, keeping me on the edge of my seat and second-guessing every alliance. Brown masterfully builds suspense, ensuring that no one is safe and nothing is predictable.

One of my favorite aspects of this book is the storytelling. The rich, immersive settings feel more vivid than ever, pulling me deeper into the dark and dangerous world of the Sagas. The writing is fast-paced yet beautifully descriptive, making every battle, heartbreak, and shocking revelation feel incredibly real.

If you loved the first book, Blood & Betrayal will blow you away. It’s darker, more intense, and filled with twists that will leave you gasping. Brown proves once again that this series is not just another fantasy saga. It's an unforgettable journey.
I cannot wait to see what happens next! If you enjoy epic fantasy with complex characters, high stakes, and jaw-dropping twists, this book is a must-read. Highly recommended!

Book two gives a more in depth character descriptions of the women, from Shynetown to Sanchie lands. From Dempaku’s child queen and her wolf to the distance one woman will go for revenge or the unwavering love for a husband, despite his faults to a pampered rich girl giving her life to a wanted man. The strength that these women have and the role they play in supporting their men, fathers or siblings, whether it's a spell, a life or their body.
Secret deals are made, alliances broken. There are traitors making plans.
A new cast of characters has been introduced as well setting the stage for more violence and bloodshed. The founders of Nobelhaven, from across the ocean.
Whats understood need not be explained. Just read them!! You wont be disappointed.

Picking up right where we left off in Blood and Loyalty, book 2 does not disappoint. I quickly became invested in this diverse cast of characters and caught up in this story!! Takes off with action right from the beginning and does not let up. The little tidbits tossed out at the end, has been needing book 3 asap!!!
I definitely recommend this unique dark dystopian western, urban fantasy mash up!!

Blood & Betrayal, Book 2 of The Blood Saga Series, transports us back to places we’ve never visited, and people we’ve never met, yet are strangely familiar as Mr Brown’s menagerie of characters once again take up residence inside our heads, allowing us complete access to their strong, willful, complicated, yet at times sensitive, selves.
