I hoped for love. Fate handed me three arranged mates. Hated bonds I intend to break.
They didn’t want me first. I don’t want them now. I’m the omega who nearly died when I rejected my three scent matches to start a new life on my terms. And it’s been so hard.
My former alpha mates don’t want to let me go. They say they have reasons for treating me the way they did. That they will do whatever it takes to make things right. No reason is good enough for me. No pretty bauble will tempt me back to them. I want them gone.
All I want is to be left alone. But a lone omega will always be an irresistible temptation to an alpha. Especially one close to heat. Free from my gilded cage, a new enemy shows his face. An alpha who doesn’t just want to control me. He wants to make me into a weapon.
I’m in a constant fight: with my feelings, against an unrelenting enemy, and biology. And I’m losing.
** HOPELESS OMEGA is book four in an interconnected Omegaverse series. It features a wounded bird heroine and three possessive alphas determined to win back their omega. HEA guaranteed. For readers 18+.
June is mated to her scent matches. They treat her like dirt for a year because they think she’s a spy sent by their a-hole father. After a year she leaves them, asks to sever her bonds and leaves. The guys realize she’s not a spy and are devastated (as they should be, they were awful). They eventually find her, she doesn’t want anything to do with them initially but then she gets bond sickness and needs them. They explain their complicated past and June eventually forgives them.
**SPOILERS/THOUGHTS**
Authors these days just don’t understand the meaning of REAL GROVELING! June’s alphas were hideous! The things they did to her, said to her were inexcusable. Frankly she severed the bonds, and I honestly think she should’ve been paired off with a better pack. If the author had made the groveling WORTH IT, then maybe, just maybe I could’ve understood June accepting them back. But the fact that they stalk her, and “give her space,” only to tell her to “use them” when she gets bond sickness is NOT SUFFICIENT GROVELING!!! No. I really don’t understand how authors seem to just “cave” when it comes to real groveling in books these days. Is it a rush to finish their books? The specific need for a tidy happily ever after? I’m not sure. But it leaves the reader feeling unsatisfied and unhappy at the choices their FMC made.
2.5 stars some parts of this book just dont rlly add up like the money for Jack. they gave 50k and after paying off debts he still donated most of what they gave to him?? he said he was drowning in debt so what 1k?! she cant find her sister? how is that possible? it isnt like either of them went into hiding. I hated it was 1yr of treating her like garbage. seems like an awfully long time to do that for and come back from it.

Story had so much promise even though the betrayal seemed forced with no real reason. My biggest problem with the book however is that the 3 MMC alphas are so weak and passive that I wouldn't even consider them Betas. They literally do nothing to show that they are rich, powerful ALPHAS. Run to others for help, need others to tell them how things are, what to do and then need others to do it for them. Very disappointing characters.
I don't generally like the bullying romance trope, but this one was really well done. The guys were awful and idiotic, and i appreciated that their behavior was never justified, only explained. Their sincere regret, and their efforts after, provided a satisfying amount of grovel.
June was the true star of the book. Her character growth is one of the best I've seen in the omegaverse.
Dnf 82% all the plot points were what i wanted but it wasn’t working for me. You also couldn’t distinguish between the alphas, every time i read their pov i had to check multiple times whose character was it
June is a student at Haven Academy, a finishing school that matches omegas up with wealthy Alphas. At an omega ball, June wanders into the library and meets Torin, an alpha also hiding out in the library. They are scent matches. But for some reason, they aren't allowed to just go to the school administrators and tell them they scent matched. It makes no sense, but that's the rule.
They plan to pretend to "meet" later for the first time in the ballroom because of the school rules. But June's teacher takes her off somewhere else. Torin looks for her but can't find her.
Their pack is Pack Wells: Torin (25), Archer, and Callum (25). They never went looking for scent match, for a reason that isn't revealed right away. When he first saw June in the library, he thought she was "sent" by someone, but then he realized June was his scent match.
June's teacher arranges a mating with another alpha, Sinclair, but Pack Wells finds her in time to stop it. The school lets her have a bonding ceremony that's planned for that night with Pack Wells instead of Sinclair, because they are wealthier than Sinclair, and that's all the school cares about.
The next morning, Callum's father shows up at the house to meet June. She realizes she talked to him at the ball, and he wanted her to meet his son, but she didn't know who his son was at the time.
When the guys walk in on her talking to the dad, there's obviously some tension. The dad (William) asks them how they like girl he picked for them. June's confused because that didn't happen. The guys are angry. Torin talks to her while Callum talks to his dad. She tells Torin she just met William for the first time at the ball. But Torin thinks it's too much of a coincidence that she just happened to find Torin in the library, and it must have been a set up.
William has informants that keep an eye on the guys, like their housekeeper is one of his informants. And now they think June was chosen by William to be an informant. But did he know she was their sent match? They think she must have told him, and then she agreed to whore herself out in exchange for money from William.
What's going on between the guys and William? He has control over someone and they want to free her.
While Callum's talking to William, Torin tells June to go to her room. They don't want her to leave, I think they expect that if she leaves she'll have an affair with William, which they don't want her to do. But they don't want anything to do with her, either.
After that, they avoid her in their mansion. They take her out when they're expected to take their omega, but they ignore her there, too. Even if she could leave her mates she'd have nowhere to go because her society mother wouldn't take her in. The guys tell her that William will destroy her, or something like that, and so she thinks she can't leave because she'll get hurt if she does.
The story skips forward a year. They've continued to avoid each other all year. Then one day, 2 men show up investigating the Haven Academy. They ask June if she wants to stay with this pack or break the bond. She didn't know a bond break was possible. She says even if it's a dangerous procedure, she'd rather die then stay here, let's break the bond right now! The pack is completely surprised. I think they expected her to want to stay since she's a spy for William.
The guys are forced to attend the bond break ceremony. June almost dies but wakes up in the hospital, and is eventually well enough to leave. But she's left to fend for herself and has to get a shitty job and rent a shitty apartment. But she's happier than she was with Pack Wells because nobody treats her like shit anymore. She makes a friend named Jack, and meets another guy named Oscar at the laundromat who asks her out.
The moment she choses to break the bond, Pack Wells realizes she was never being paid by William to spy on them, and they want her back. They can't find her at first. Like, they don't realize she left with nothing and probably lives on the poor side of town now. But one day, Archer is walking around and sees June walking into a coffee shop, but she runs away and gives him the slip. But she was in her work uniform so they eventually figure out which hotel uses that uniform.
When she goes on a date with Oscar, the guys have been watching her, and Torin attacks Oscar. Torin reveals that Oscar is really a guy named Wilkes Booth (Yes, really). Wilkes didn't just happen to meet June at the laundromat. It was all planned by Torin's mother. The problem is, it's difficult to convince June that Oscar is a bad guy, since June thinks they are bad guys.
They grovel by doing all kinds of billionaire stuff like buying her apartment building and fixing everyone's plumbing.
I love a good bully/grovel book! The guys deserved the heartbreak they got and they really worked to make it up to her!
Bullying: They humiliated her at ONE party, avoided seeing/talking to her in the house, refused to help her through her heat, dumped her cake on the ground, called her a whore, etc. Honestly, they were rude, but they could have been much worse. They withheld love and affection but didn’t lock her up, tie her up, withhold food, etc. This is not a dark romance and I’m used to reading those so I thought this was fairly tame 😂 They didn’t help her through her heat, however they had a driver take her to a clinic so she was safe and taken care of. This was much better than other omegaverse books where the omega spends days in a barrel or abandoned building to survive her heat🤷♀️
Groveling: First off, you get a lot of remorse from the guys POV, they truly apologize, they buy her building and fix up the apartments, they walk her to work, they buy back her great grandmothers bracelet, they buy her food and have it delivered, they give her space without trying to force anything on her. I hate when a book has a guy do one nice thing, give a blanket “I’m so sorry for everything” apology and calls it groveling. That’s not what happened here, the guys discussed and apologized for specific things and truly did their best to make her life easier where she was instead of just forcing her to move back in with them. They moved into an apartment in her building to be close to her.
Huge thing for me was the fact they never cheated! She was with them for a year living at their house and it is only mentioned at ONE party they were flirting with a girl. They did it in front of her to humiliate her, but they didn’t sleep with her or anyone else while they were bonded to her. So they were not giving her the attention she wanted, but they were not hooking up with other women either. They were celibate for a year.
Most annoying part of this book was the fact they got mad at her and thought she was working for one of their dad’s with 0 proof. She was their scent match!!! You literally can’t fake that! What are the chances he found their scent match before they did and sent her to them? No way. They were so dumb for believing she was working for him, they never explained anything to her or believed her when she said she had nothing to do with the dad.
This starts as a really good rejected mate story, but it doesn’t hold up.
June meets her scent matches at a ball and immediately mates them. She’s happy and believes in love and a happily ever after.
The next morning, her mates see her talking to Torin’s father and immediately turn on her. It turns out Torin’s dad is evil and they assume he sent her as a trap.
They spend the next year being cruel to her. Eventually, someone comes around to investigate matches made by her Academy. She’s asked if she wants to leave and break the bond, and despite the risks, she agrees immediately.
Lo and behold, her weak ass mates realize maybe they were wrong about her, and now they want her.
She breaks the bond and starts a life a dingy apartment, working as a maid and making friends. Here, again, the story is strong. June making her way after her life of relative privilege is interesting and sort of touching.
Alas, the problem with this book is that she immediately takes back her mates. Of course, she’ll die of bond sickness if she doesn’t, so she doesn’t really have a choice. But even without that, she seems pretty forgiving. She makes it less than a month before she’s taking them back.
They do a bit of groveling, but these guys emotionally abused her for a year, and literally two weeks later she loves them.
See, Torin’s dad and Callum’s mom are evil and traffic Omegas. And to keep them in line, Torin’s dad keeps their friend Lottie hostage. If they try to go to the police, she’ll be killed. This has been going on for years. Maybe decades. Long enough for these morons to figure out how to get her out or tip off police.
Eventually June is kidnapped, Lottie gets free, and Callum’s mom hands him a box full of evidence to hold (for no reason… why wouldn’t she just destroy it or something?) and they’re able to get help after all.
Then they all live happily ever after, because all is forgiven.
By the end, I couldn’t care less about these useless alphas and I was sad June had to be stuck with them.

Okay, so Hopeless Omega had me feeling things, but also side-eyeing everyone like I was the fourth alpha in the room. This installment follows June, our bruised, stubborn, trying-to-heal omega who wants absolutely nothing to do with the three alphas she was scent-matched to, Torin, Callum, and Archer, after they wrecked her trust so thoroughly in the past that even her biology is like, “girl… we’re tired.”
And honestly? June fighting every instinctual pull, wanting to be free, wanting to be chosen properly, wanting to never relive that heartbreak, felt real. Messy, frustrating, but real. The emotional tug-of-war between her heart, her trauma, and her omega instincts? Peak Omegaverse drama, and I did devour that part.
But whew… these men. The way they spent half the book trying to prove they’ve changed while also avoiding half the conversations that needed to happen? Classic alpha energy: all intensity, limited communication skills. And June herself sometimes circles the same emotional drain over and over, which made a few scenes feel more repetitive than punchy. I wanted one big, gut-dropping moment of emotional clarity… and it never quite materialised.
The worldbuilding is great, the tension is there, the history between them is juicy, but the execution didn’t always give me the emotional payoff I was begging for. Still addictive, still fun, and still the kind of messy pack-bond energy I’ll keep reading for. Just… not my favourite in the series.
✨ Trope Checklist: – Arranged mates with heavy emotional baggage – Three alphas trying (badly) to win back their omega – Wounded omega fighting biology AND the plot – Slow-burn healing + stubborn hearts – Found family threads under all the chaos
⭐️⭐️⭐️ a solid, angsty addition with plenty of tension, I just wanted a little more depth in the emotional resolution.
Three stars because the grovel was actually pretty well done. I was impressed with the actions they took, fixing the entire apartment complex June had ended up in so her neighbours also weren’t living in subpar conditions. Donating money to Jack to help him out of debt, walking with June every day to work and taking the bus, not forcing June to quit.
All grovel was done because of June, but not necessarily just for June. They wanted to improve the life she had chosen and that support went a long way.
That said, so many plot holes. They mistreated her horribly for a year for a suspected reason that turned out one of their own had ACTUALLY DONE. They thought she was a spy because Callum’s father said she was…why would they believe him when every other sentence is about how they can’t trust him??
And Asher actually turned out to BE A SPY that Callum’s father paid off when they were young to be his friend? So hypocritical that supposedly Asher stopped because he knew Callum was pack and pack over blood but their SCENT MATCH was definitely out to betray them.
Couldn’t get over that. Also, the forgiveness was kinda blah despite the grovel, and some of the side characters like Lottie and Wilke seemed to be shoved in randomly for plot progression but then the ends were abrupt.
I liked the other side characters, Lucia, Gia and Jack. They were great friends and brought comedic relief that was well done.
All in all, I read it. Finished it. But was left at the end saying “ok…”.

This book started out really well. I totally felt the anguish and the hurt from her about the horrible treatment they gave her. I do believe, though, that 1 year is a little too long for that to have gone on for her to be able to just take them back the way she did. They totally deserved to get a bigger picture of how much damage they did. I don't think their grovel was enough, but at the same time, for as long as it went on, I don't think there could have been enough.
Based on everything they did to her, I think 6 months, tops, is the length of time that she should have endured to be able to forgive them, ultimately. I do appreciate all that they did for her afterward, but for me it comes across as too little, too late. They started to get an idea when they first figured out that she wasn't behind anything, but I wish it would have hit them more. I agree 100% with Jack. They didn't bother explaining, didn't listen to her, just chose to believe this person that they hate so much, and treated her like garbage.
I loved how it started out, but near the end of the book, it felt rushed. There needed to be more groveling and more work to get back with her, and then to get to the I-love-yous so quick was annoying, as well. I did enjoy this book, but there are things that I just wish were a little different. I might read this again, and I may recommend this to others.

Had to technically dnf (technically I skimmed it instead of dnf, but my skimming was like reading a single sentence every page after I realized that there was no more grovel involved and the book was ending so she HAD to forgive them for the book to have a HEA) The grovel was not good…. I would have preferred if she found some OM to entertain her while they were trying to get her back, I just needed them to suffer more, and what’s most important: at least the same amount of time that they treated her like shit, I just needed more punishment rlly, and they even embarrassed her publicly… Honestly, maybe even that dude that was horrible and was trying to seduce her she could’ve fucked him bc she didn’t trust her scent matches and they would be pissed and she wouldn’t give a f*** but then she would not trust the guy and just treat it like a ONS just so that the scent match could feel like again the guy took someone from him, you know? I just rlly needed a bigger sense of loss for them Also she was too sweet, I would have preferred someone that holds a grudge for longer, to make them suffer more.
I pulled an all nighter to read this because once I started I couldn’t stop.
Juniper, our FMC, meets her scent matches Callum, Torin and Archer at an omega ball and it’s all rainbows & sunshine.
Until it is not.
24 hours after bonding/ biting her, they flip a switch and begin mistreating her. A lot of emotional abuse.
A year goes by and Juniper now has a chance to break the bonds with her Alphas, even if it means her death. This kickstarts the one braincell these boys share and they begin to question everything.
Commence the grovel. Of course, what I came for 😛
A lot of the reviews touch on how it took the boys a year to pull their heads of their asses but MAN I love stupid boys because it means the character growth is that much sweeter.
The grovel was sufficient enough for me, and I could forgive the boys by the end of the story. It was lovely to see Juniper find her place in life too. She goes from being a rich pampered girl to now having to fend for herself.
But the epilogue… I am going to pretend it did not say 3 months later. A pregnancy this quick after having just forgiven her men doesn’t seem to fit in the story.
The book had a little bit of everything: angst, love, grovel, and humour. There was a point where I believed the Mmcs were irredeemable, but the author was able to pull off an acceptable redemption arc. The FMC was sweet, positive, and likeable, and I appreciated that she wasn’t a doormat. There were some aspects of the story that didn’t work, such as the reason the Mmcs turned against the FMC and emotionally abused her for a year; it simply wasn’t logical or believable unless they suffered from low IQs. There were instances in the story where it felt that Lottie (Charlotte) was supposed to be the love interest for the Mmcs, since they willingly suffered for years at the hands of their parents for her well-being, and everything they endured was for her. June only received a similar sort of devotion after she dumped them and prepared to move on with her life. That being said, the author nailed the emotional aspects of the book, and as a reader, you feel for June.
I do like a decent grovel. I wouldn’t say this was the best I’ve read, but it better than maybe 3/4 of other grovel books out there.
This was one of those times where the fmc says one thing and then does the opposite. She will NEVER forgive them…but then eventually does. She says to one not to knot her but less than 1 paragraph later begs him for it. He of course obliges. She carries on like this sporadically throughout the whole book. I get it, I do. I know they’re all going to end up together in the end, even as she’s venting her feelings. I just wish an author would phrase things differently, knowing how it will all turn out. I want to take a character at their word, so I lose respect when I can’t trust it.
The plot leaves much to be desired and quite frankly, was extremely simplistic in execution. When 𝐼 can outthink a character, there’s something fundamentally wrong. I know I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, so to see myself outthinking the villain means that villain is 𝘥𝘶𝘮𝘣.
Read if you like: grovel, betrayal, angst, second chance, found family
June has been neglected and rejected by her three scent matches. Their humiliation and treatment of June hurt me so bad I was eating it up and simultaneously crying 😂
This was a great read, however I was expecting more grovel. I feel like after being tormented a full year she deserved a lot more begging. I know they did a lot to help her and her friends but I was still like hmmm not quite good enough. It was one big miscommunication trope 😭 Charlotte felt like she got more commitment and loyalty from the alphas.
I absolutely loved seeing Kylian again 🤩 I can’t help but compare Hopeless Omega to Runaway Omega. The alphas in Runaway Omega were actually rich, powerful, and had great grovel. The alphas in Hopeless Omega seemed so weak.
Also recaps for the first 3 books were very needed, more authors need to do it!
Each one in the series has been a really unique hurt or hurdle to get over. This one had me thinking I’d never forgive them, but as always that writing brought my heart right back around! The only thing I want more of is a longer HEA on this one. The character, growth and development is amazing and I really appreciate every single question being answered. I sincerely hope this series continues for many more books!!
I've read all the books in this series so far and this is the best one yet. I got attached to the characters from the start. So much so that I ended up crying for pretty much the first hundred pages of the book. That's the mark of a talented writer. Someone who can have you invested from the start. Its not all sad thankfully. I loved seeing how the characters evolved and found their way back to where they were always meant to be...with each other.
Ember has written some of my favorite OV books and I somewhat liked this addition to the series. I felt for June and the hardship and rejection she faced and honestly wished she found better alphas, but I guess you can’t beat biology as an omega. The alphas were really useless and their grovel left a lot to be desired. I’m waiting to see where the next book takes us.
What June wanted and what June got were something that were both optimistic and heartbreaking She wants love and not boredom and the wells pack gave her that
But they also.. thinking she was a spy have her heartbreak as well and pushed her to the point of rather dying than being with them
This author writes a great story and I can't wait for more!!
Big fan of Ember’s! I’ve eaten up every book she has put out and can’t wait for more!
We have seen the Omega Academy and the error of their ways in previous reads, so no surprise when they throw a curve ball into the FMC meeting her scent matches. But not all is roses and fairytales. This is a bully romance and while these guys aren’t the worst I’ve read, they definitely suck. But it makes the grovel all the sweeter! I think some of their problems could’ve been solved with a little communication earlier on, but I enjoyed how they won their girl back and how the opportunity strengthened everyone as individuals.
I’m always the first to complain if I feel like the grovel does not meet the crime and in this particular instance, I’m happy to report there was sufficient groveling haha and I really liked it because they didn’t just do things for her, They did things for all the people in her life that she cared about and that tugged an awwww in my heart.
Eh. This book had a lot of potential. I was relieved that the FMC didn't just fold like a lawn chair as soon as the MMC's new they fucked up. However I felt the time jump was so sudden that you couldn't sink your emotions into the book and really feel for the FMC. This author definitely has potential, however this book fell flat towards the end for me.
At the beginning of this book, I was like, "This is all going great. What could possibly happen in all these pages?" Then I had my heart broken. What assholes. I love enemies to lovers where they are actually enemies and not just midly inconvenienced by the other. I do wish there was more groveling. Lowkey wished she didn't stop him from walking across glass. Overall, I could not stop reading.

I searched for a good grovelling book to read but I get shit instead. the MLs are shit and yeah the title is suitable with the FL, hopeless and pathetic omega. I skipped so much until i can't read anymore. DNF at 66%
Well at the start of this book I couldn’t see what could go wrong. The event was sooooo stupid it annoyed me. But of course I had to read the rest of the book to see how it all resolved itself!
