The stunning sequel to The Befallen delves deeper into the world of the Capella Realm.

Sir Tolvar–famed knight, the Wolf, redeemed and reborn–is finally home. Striving to establish his new life, he takes his rightful place as the Earl of Askella. But soon after, he’s tasked by the sovereign to find the missing StarSeer, Elanna–gifted with the power to See the future in the stars–who has mysteriously fled her sacred city. Tolvar has the strange and irritating sense that new adventures are just beginning.

Yet once Elanna is found, she reveals that the Capella Realm’s imminent doom approaches and they must act with haste. Tolvar swears to protect her. But the unknown forces they battle feel all too familiar. And still troubled by his past, and vexed with an itch for vengeance, Tolvar may not be as keen a knight as Elanna’s quest requires. But if Tolvar cannot keep his word and safeguard Elanna as she strives to preserve the fortune of the realm, ‘twill not only mean the extinction of the StarSeer’s Light, but the shattering of an empire.

Cambria Williams has done it again! I was super excited to be granted an ARC copy of The Keeper of the Word, especially after reading The Befallen. Let me just say, this sequel does NOT disappoint.

I love being able to dive further into this beautifully crafted world. Cambria Williams is truly a master of rich world building. It's exciting to see another continent that we'd only heard of in passing.

I think the best part though is the return of Tolvar. My favorite grumpy knight. Genuinely I've never been so happy to see him in his element. He's such a deep and well written character. The more I learn about him and his past the more I want to give him a hug (he needs it). Seeing him work through his grief and his feelings returning home, while also balancing where he is meant to go is beautiful. It's incredibly satisfying to see his growth continue. The introduction of Elanna and seeing her character develop was also very exciting. The two characters are great in the ways they contrast and complement one another.

If you were a fan of The Befallen and are thinking about reading Keeper of the Word, don't waste any time. Get it ASAP because this book is everything you need. If you haven't read The Befallen, go read it and THEN pick up this book. So excited for it to adorn my shelves right next to The Befallen. Happy reading!

Keeper of the Word is the captivating sequel to The Befallen of The Unsung and the Wolf Duology. This dark fantasy tale is a unique and cleverly crafted tale that has engaging complex characters.
Sir Tolvar must find the missing StarSeer, Elanna to come together to save the Realm, but he still has issues he hasn’t quite resolved. Will he be able to overcome them or will he be the Realm’s ruin and Elanna’s downfall?
Cambria’s world building is vividly rich, and it feels like a place we could visit. The characters are wonderfully depicted.
What you will find in this fantasy adventure tale is that it is action packed, has an epic quest, magic, strong quirky and flawed characters, struggles, intrigue, unexpected twists, courage, hope, and love.
I look forward to what comes next from Cambria.

This book is absolutely amazing. I loved how the story follows Tolvar and his journey following Sloan’s death. This particular book has a lot of characters that you really, really love and that you really cheer for as they go through all of the struggles in the book. It has a beautiful ending as well. I definitely recommend this book.

Keeper of the Word by Cambria Williams is book two in The Unsung and the Wolf Duology. I’ll start this off by saying you must read the first book as this one is a continuation of Tolvar’s tale. With that being said, I highly enjoyed reading this book… I didn’t want to put my kindle down. But there were moments I had to stop and really think about what I read. Like, what would I have done? It was honestly one of my favorite things about this book. I thought the characters were great as they came to terms with their choices. I thought the book was well written with such an interesting plot and a world that you can just lose yourself in. Not only that the characters were amazing and you can’t help but ponder the situations they’ve had to overcome. Everything about this Duology was intriguing and in my opinion complex. Overall I had a great reading experience since everything about this book just enhances all the best things from book one. It’s a perfect continuation! I highly recommend this author as the writing is just great. Two thumbs up.

I know the previous book set this one up, but I LOVE THIS ONE MORE! I love Elanna and her star quest and Give. Me. All. The. Hux. Shenanigans!!! Hux & Tolvar forever!! It’s like all the memes of one person is respectable and keeps to routine and doesn’t like clutter my mess and the other person is a trash panda rooting for treasure in their cluttery piles 🤩😬😍 I Love give me all of it!
The overall story and pacing was better in book 2 as well!

I know when I have read a great book because when I am finished I am still thinking about the characters, the scenarios they encountered, and the troubles they overcame. Keeper of the Word by Cambria Williams is a great book. The ideas she has confronted in this tale are questions many of us, including myself, have had to grapple with. Do I let fate, God, or the world decide what I should do, or do I act? Do I keep my faith, or hang on even when it is difficult to do so? Do I judge people by their past, or by their potential? Do I trust others, or do I have to do everything myself? Can I forgive myself for mistakes I have made, or should I hang on to the guilt or disappointment I feel? Each of her characters comes to grips with these important questions, while simultaneously saving their world and themselves. Keeper of the Word is exciting, full of danger, has a little bit of romance, and many good answers to all of the big questions each of us will battle with in our own lives. It is totally worth reading, thinking, and rethinking about.

Bravo. Once again, the incredibly talented Cambria Williams has transported me in ways few books have done. Also, how has it been over a year since I read book one The Befallen. Warning if you have not read book one yet, stop here and go read it first. Honestly, it’s Tolkien, Martin and Williams for authors that give you so much detail and character development and growth that makes you want to crawl into the pages and hug them. Dual perspectives of Tolvar and Elanna.
Tolvar has finally returned to his home, Capella Realm. Only things aren’t exactly cut and dry with moving on and being happy. He is haunted by his memories and thirst for vengeance, putting into question his knightliness when he is tasked with finding the missing StarSeer, Elanna. Once found things seem to truly begin as he finds himself in all too familiar situations where the ease of chasing vengeance seems easier than the knightly duty of preserving the fortune of the realm.
Will Tolvar be able to complete his task or will vengeance win? Everything about this world, or better yet realm pulls you in and makes you feel what the characters feel. Makes you hope they will make it through. I cannot wait to see what the talented author will write next and somehow, I just found out about the novella, A Hero’s Title, so I am going to go read that now and remain in this realm a little longer.

4.5 rounded up to 5 stars. Cambria Williams has done it again! Lovable (new and returning) characters, a new adventure in a new land, old grudges and new world-ending fears… Its a great continuation and culmination of the story that started in The Befallen.

For some reason, I didn't take it seriously that Sloane dies in the first book😭 I thought she was magically going to come back. I didn't grieve properly!
I loved following the rest of Tolvar's story. I think I enjoyed this book even better than The Befallen. The StarSeers were a magic system I really enjoyed.
I had some problems with some of the timing in the book. For example, one second Hux is asking if he'll ever see Elanna again and then two paragraphs later, a witch is holding her captive and he's rescuing her? Also, if I ever read the words "'Tis" "'Twere" or "'Twas" again it'll be too soon.
Otherwise, I liked it! 3.5 💫

Sir Toliver is home, known as the Wolf it is met with eagerness to prove himself while missing his love. When he is tasked with finding a missing StarSeer he intends to not fail. The task is more difficult though when he finds Elanna and she has seen the future and with help is determined to stop the devastation of the realm from happening. When Sir Toliver agrees along with his men, the quest begins but danger lurks everywhere. Will they be able to succeed or will they fail?

I really like the way this author writes, she pulls you in and the descriptive ways that the story comes to life are quite beautiful. Hux who is a man who is close friends with Sir Toliver, became a favorite of mine. He has a cavalier air to him but there is so much more to him then what he lets on. Wonderful read, enchanting.

Sir Tolvar returns and he is finally back home in the role of the Earl of Askella and can return to his family home after his four years of banishment and it is almost as though he never left, unfortunately the memories of his past will not let him be and his grief for his family and closer and more recent acquaintances is palpable and so he finds that he can get through his everyday role, as long as he can be in isolation with his grief on a night.

Unfortunately, this peace is not long lasting when he is summoned to the home of the StarSeers in their holy city, unfortunately one of the Five Seers has gone missing and he is charged with finding her, meanwhile, the Seer, Elanna is in the midst of danger as she searches for glimpses into the future doom she has Seen, but the dangers surrounding her are insignificant in comparison to the future she is seeing and she knows that leaving the safety of the other StarSeers is the only way she can remain on the path being shown to her.

This is where she is joined by Sir Tolvar as he rescues her from Shadowcats which surround her so that h can safely escort her back to her home, however, not all is as it seems on their return and the other StarSeers cannot confirm Elanna's visions of doom for the Capella Realm and as Sir Tolvar speaks to some of the other StarSeers, he sees a path which he must reluctantly take and more adventures which he is not yet ready for, as he wrestlers with the demons still haunting him.

Drastic action is needed and as Sir Tolvar, Elanna and a few of his knights attend to her and her safety, so they escape from the confines and purity of the Citadel and make their way to the capital city, but this isn't smooth running and the group encounter dangers while on the road as the group protect Elanna from those who wish to stop her. This is another epic fantasy with a mystery woven through the action as secrets and lies unravel and time runs out in this race to the capital city plays out on the pages which will keep you entertained throughout.

A huge thank you goes to Cambria Williams, for letting me read an e-ARC of Keeper of the Word!

Sir Tolvar is desperate for peace, for a moment where he can breathe without aching for what he's lost. But when he is sent on an errand to find the StarSeer Elanna, it's clear that the world doesn't care if he's grieving. Instead, the Wolf must track down this woman who can see the future, even as darkness continues to encroach on the Capella Realm. When Elanna is found, it's just the beginning of the next journey Sir Tolvar must undertake. To save the realm from the doom that approaches, Sir Tolvar must let go of his thirst for vengeance. But will he be able to protect Elanna when his heart and mind is hurting? Can he even trust that the StarSeer's predicted future is approaching? Wouldn't it be easier to just give up and declare all hope lost?

Within Keeper of the Word, we witness the weight of grief. It's more than an elephant, it's the whole weight of the solar system on Sir Tolvar's chest. He's battered, bruised beyond compare. But this character clutches at honour & duty like no one else. It's been so captivating to read how he navigates loss, even as he must face another threat to the realm. Sir Tolvar is a classic fantasy MMC, a broken hero with a redemption arc. I love that *so* much.

This fantasy asks the question: how far would you go to save those you love? What would you sacrifice, to give them hope? Keeper of the Word is definitely a story you'll want to read if you love a ragtag crew & found family. And if you love epic quests, well... They don't get bigger than saving the world, right?! This story had so many twists & turns that I didn't see coming, & it's been a riveting adventure from start to finish. What a finale Cambria gave us.

Cambria Williams’ Keeper of the World is a breathtaking sequel to The Befallen, plunging readers deeper into the richly woven fantasy of the Capella Realm. With a compelling mix of adventure, intrigue, and personal redemption, this novel masterfully balances epic stakes with deeply human struggles.

Sir Tolvar, once known as the Wolf, is a knight seeking peace after his turbulent past. Now the Earl of Askella, he hopes for stability—but fate has other plans. When tasked with finding the missing StarSeer, Elanna, he is drawn into a prophecy that could determine the fate of the entire realm. Elanna’s ability to read the stars warns of imminent catastrophe, and as Tolvar embarks on this new journey, he must confront old wounds, lurking dangers, and the challenge of being the protector Elanna and the realm desperately need.

Williams’ storytelling shines in this sequel, blending gripping action with moments of raw vulnerability. Tolvar is a complex protagonist, haunted yet noble, whose growth is as captivating as the larger conflict at play. Elanna, with her wisdom and resolve, is a brilliant counterbalance to his brooding nature, making their dynamic both tense and compelling.

The worldbuilding is lush and immersive, from the celestial prophecies that shape the plot to the looming sense of an empire on the brink. Williams crafts a tale where destiny, duty, and desire collide, and she does so with elegant prose and razor-sharp pacing.

Keeper of the World is a must-read for fans of high fantasy filled with heroism, prophecy, and the eternal battle between past sins and future hope. With thrilling twists and a story that lingers long after the final page, this sequel solidifies the Befallen series as a standout in the genre.

This is the second book in the duology “The Unsung and the Wolf” and it is just as fulfilling as the first book.

We once again follow Sir Tolvar, this time he is returning home after the defeat of the befallen and losing Sloane. He wants to relax and have time to properly grieve but life has a different plan for him. One of the StarSeers, Elanna, has run away and they ask Tolvar to go and retrieve her. StarSeers are not to leave home.

Once he finds her, she tells him that they are destined to save the world together. Tolvar being the unbeliever brings her home anyways. It is up to Elanna to convince Tolvar to listen and bring her to the king to save the world.

Things aren’t adding up which intrigues Tolvar but it is also hitting a little too close to home since this is basically how he and Sloane got pushed together in the first book. Will he be able to put his feelings of grief and justice aside to help Elanna with the bigger picture or will he fall apart with the pressure.

I read the first book a couple years ago and I really enjoyed it. I was sad that Sloane died since I really loved her character but the new FMC is a delight. Elanna spent most of her life hidden away as a StarSeer, making her socially awkward. She doesn’t know how to go about everyday life but she is willing to try.

The author does an amazing job putting the world into details. I love how they vividly describe each place, piecing the world together. You can picture yourself there. I also really enjoyed how the relationships between people develop naturally. I would highly recommend this duology.

There Is Mending To Be Done and Hope To Restore and Faith To Be Had

This series is marked as a duology, but I’m sitting here having read the final pages of Keeper of the Word and hoping that there may be more to the story yet to come. Cambria Williams has me completely besotted with this world she has created and I am not sure I am ready for it to be done. Oh, but the fortitude of Tolvar to do what must be done even with the losses he has faced, and such faith in the face of so many adversities and adversaries. Elanna, acting when that surely is not meant for her, right!?! Saving the realm is of utmost importance, but can this group overcome all of the obstacles they must yo save it and the light? Williams has again outdone herself with the world-building, with the cast of characters and their personalities, and with the plot of this wonderful story. The way she has strung these words together and created this tale is nothing short of wondrous! This may be her debut duology, but she has a forever fan in me. I cannot wait to read more of the stories that Cambria Williams will surely write! In my humble opinion, this series is as good as those of any fantasy writers you can imagine. This is definitely a recommended read for anyone and everyone!!!

I am the author of Keeper of the Word, a dark fantasy centered on the magic of hope's light.

Keeper of the Word, Book 2 of The Unsung and the Wolf Duology, is a story with roots older than its predecessor, The Befallen. When beta readers asked for a sequel to The Befallen, originally written as a standalone, I spent a great deal of time considering what a sequel could look like.

Eventually, I went back to a prologue I'd written as a lore for another book over a decade ago. The final scene in Keeper of the Word is a rendition of that prologue, and it was an arduous education and journey to reach that scene. There's much, much more to say on this topic, but that's a story for another book.

Keeper of the Word's journey was so different from The Befallen, and yet, I found that I drifted back to many themes so vital to me as I wrote Keeper of the Word. I hope that when readers finish Keeper of the Word, they will feel a sense of hope.

Special thanks for my beta readers, ARC readers, and wonderful audience who asked for more, have shown me endless support, and know that the world needs stories.

This is the second book in The Unsung and the Wolf Duology. I do recommend reading theses books in order as this story follows on from the first book in the series. This is a great fantasy adventure full of action, danger, fate, magic, unexpected twists and characters that you will never forget.
We are back with Sir Tolvar. He has now returned home and is looking forward to settling back into his life. Unfortunately for him that won't happen as he is sent on another quest to find the missing StarSeer. Together Sir Tolvar and the Starseer will be able to save the realm but with Tolvar still have unresolved issues will this be the cause of Elanna's downfall and the end of their Realm?

This author creates a vibrant and rich world and weaves a story that is both captivating and engaging. The characters are so well developed and I was excited to read more about Sir Tolvar's story. I would highly recommend reading the first book as this will give you a complete understanding of the characters, the challenges they have previously faced and their obstacles moving forward

Keeper of the Word is the sequel to the book, The Befallen. It is part of The Unsung and the Wolf duology, so I highly recommended reading the previous book first as it will give you background on the characters and the story line. It is a fantasy with drama, danger, action adventure, emotion, loss, love, hope, and courage. The story centers around the MC of Sir Tolvar who is a famed Knight that has just returned home to take his place as the Earl of Askella. He comes across as a bit of a grumpy character, but it is understandable given his history and trauma. He is given the task of finding the missing StarSeer Elanna and they must come together to save the Realm. To do so, he must overcome some past issues and resolve them, or he could very well end up ruining the Realm. This was an intriguing read with a gruff character that you end up wanting to hug and tell him things will get better. Tolvar must find the courage and strength within himself while battling with both internal and external forces that want him to fail. A great read with some unexpected twists and turns.

In this phenomenal sequel to The Befallen, the author continues to captivate with their intricate world-building and dynamic characters. I highly recommend reading these in order because it would be confusing if you skip it, not to mention just a shame overall. These pages somehow flew by as I devoured it in one weekend! I loved seeing the return of Sir Tolvar, the redeemed knight known as the Wolf. Finding the missing StarSeer, Elanna, is an important task. Their journey together is one of high stakes and plenty of challenges. Character development in this story is absolutely stunning which had me invested in them immediately. The vivid descriptions add plenty of marvelous details to a tightly knit plot. You’ll be just as captivated as I was because the author has a way of expertly crafting a world that somehow feels expansive yet intimate. I am longing for more of this world and hope to see it in the near future. It’s such a brilliant sequel, and I highly recommend it for fantasy lovers that are seeking an engaging and beautifully crafted adventure.

Keeper of the Word is the second book in The Unsung and the Wolf Duology by Cambria Williams. It follows on from the events in Book #1, as Sir Tolvar grapples with everything that has happened. He has returned home, but his hopes of having time to settle in and come to terms with everything are dashed when he is assigned a new quest to find the StarSeer who seems to have disappeared. And so the adventure begins…
It’s a bit of an epic fantasy with adventure, action, challenges, danger, fate/destiny, sacrifice, high stakes, emotion, and hope.
I highly recommend reading the previous book/s before starting on this one, as knowing everything that has come before will help you to better appreciate what happens in this instalment.
The series contains:
-The Befallen (Book #1)
-A Hero’s Title (Book #1.5)
-Keeper of the Word (Book #2)
Happy reading…

Thank you, Cambria Williams!

Keeper of the Word by author Cambria Williams is the sequel to the novel The Befallen. Sir Tolvar returns to his home with hopes that there is peace and calmness for his people. He can barely settle in before he is finding himself on a mission to locate Elanna to try and save the StarSeer Light. Although Tolvar has many emotions he is trying to process, he has to find a way work through his feelings and while trying to be a hero.

I was immediately pulled into this story. The author's writing has a way of reaching out from the pages and gripping onto the reader, keeping the pages turning with an intense need to know what is going to happen next. If you enjoy intricate tales of dark fantasy with a wonderful array of characters, new and old, I believe you would love this duology. That said, I would definitely suggest checking out The Befallen before giving this story a go, as the stories are strongly entwined. Definitely recommend!

This is book two in this series. I highly suggest reading book one before this one to help see where the characters were before this point. I did not read book one but this author did a great job of providing details that it was easy for me to pick up on. This series is about Elanna and Tolvar. Their adventure is one of trying to save the StarSeer Light from extension and saving an empire. I enjoyed both of these characters. They are unique, strong and bring their adventure to life. They are well rounded characters that made the story easy to read and entertaining as well. I enjoyed watching the anticipation of what was to happen. I wanted to know more which had me turning pages fast. This is a fast paced, hard to put down story that I really enjoyed reading. I highly recommend this book.

Keeper of the Word (The Unsung and the Wolf Duology) by Cambria Williams. This is an amazing fantasy adventure series and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is its just not my favorite genre. Its so well written though and I do recommend reading the first book before because this is a continuation of that story. It's the continuing story of Elanna & Tolvar who are tasked with saving the StarSeer Light and saving an empire in the process. Tolvar still has many unresolved issues and he can either work thru them or let them take him down along with everything in his path. This story makes us question if we can rely on faith or do we just have to do everything by ourselves if we want it to get done correctly. This story just like the first kept me flipping the pages late in the night to find out what happened. Even though its not my favorite genre, I truly enjoyed this Duology.

Book 2 brings us our favorite grumpy knight Sir Tolvar finally coming home and the story of our grumpy knight and our star seer evolving from book one

Tolivar has proven himself to his kingdom and now he wants to take his place as the earl of askella a title hes earned. Alas, his peace will be short lived

His sovereign quickly calls on him to find their StarSeer who has quickly disappeared, and with her being able to see future her going missing leaves so many questions of their kingdoms safety. The journey they share is one of many questionAI,do you trust your faith, your gut, others in your group of friendships or some combination there of?

I don't want to ruin the story and give anything else away but this was a well done sequel and i truly hope this author brings us more works like these!!!!

What an amazing second book to this story. highly recommend that you read book one first, this refers a lot of things that were talked about in the first book. This story once again like the first one kept me hooked from the beginning and I enjoyed every bit of this story. there was so much adventure, action, fantasy, drama, danger, twist and turns and so much more, just like the first book, that I was engaged from the very beginning right to the end. this side does follow Tolivar from the first book more then anything, and he has his own adventure on becoming the earl of askella, on a mission to find and locate Elanna to try and save the Startseer light. I was pulled into this story and couldn’t put it down till the end. Highly recommended this duology.

As this second book in the series, this is a fantastic addition to the series. As soon as I started reading this book, I was pulled straight into the story. I found the characters to be so intriguing. They had a depth about them that I found made the more engaging and I really wanted to know more about what was going on. Throughout the book, they have a really interesting story.
The overall storyline I found to be captivating. I loved the way the author had developed the story and I thought it as really exciting to read. I would suggest these books do need to be read in order and I loved everything about them both. This is a fantastic book that I would highly recommend.

This is the sequel to The Befallen and it's just as good as the first book. We get to read more about the beautiful world that Cambria Williams had built and more about Sir Tolvar as he goes on another journey to save Capella's Realm of it's imminent doom. We are introduced to StarSeer Elanna who is gifted with the power to see the future that helps him along the way. I loved reading more about Sir Tolvar and his past. Both Sir Tolvar and Elanna have great character development throughout this story. This was a great sequel that had me hooked from the beginning and I couldn't put it down. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Keeper of the Word ( The Unsung and The Wolf Duology Book 2)By Cambria Williams

Keeper of the Word is the second book in The Unsung and The Wolf Duology. This is a Fantasy. This is a fairly new author to me. I had a hard time getting into the story and couldn’t connect with the characters. I’m going to revisit this book again and hopefully my opinion will change. I’m normally a huge fan of Fantasy and this one just didn’t hit the marks for me. But if you are a fan I’d recommend reading. I do look forward to reading more from this Author and I’m hoping this is a short lived phase I’m in.

Sir Tolvar may feel as though his adventures are over now that he is back home. He is about to settle in as the Earl of Askella when he is asked to find a StarSeer named Elanna. She is a gifted Seer who can see the future and she is missing from her sacred city. Finding Elanna is vital to saving the Capella Realm. Is Sir Tolvar up to the task? If you haven't read the first book in this duology I highly suggest picking it up.
