Antisemitism: What Everyone Needs To Know should be respectfully renamed ‘Where Everyone Needs To Start’.
This book isn’t an end all be all but a great introduction to many questions and issues with antisemitism. I like how the author organizes the book with direct questions and answers.
I definitely agree with some of the shorter answers on some of the questions but absolutely recommend further reading for anyone. There are questions that I feel need whole chapters or books on its own and the author over generalizes the answer and a little too quickly.
As a self proclaimed ‘history buff’, there are some points that are made without citing sources that even just I, an avid reader, would oppose some of the information on.
I do wish the author directly opposed some of the antisemitic claims. Again, there’s one question where he very briefly touches on an issue and just laughs off the claim and says something like ‘absurd belief’. I’m not saying that the ‘absurd belief’ is correct, but in a book with already great information, I expected a detailed defense to attack on it.
Overall I think this is an important read for anyone to start diving into some of the recent history of Israel, the Jews, and politics. This opens the door to many topics and subjects that should absolutely be read further into.
