Kate is grateful to be back home with the team. She knows it’s time to tell her friends about some of her past she’s kept hidden. How will they react? Will Patrick think less of her? And can she stay focused on a case that keeps leading them to dead ends?
Patrick knows it’s time to take a big step in life, but fears it as well. On top of working a case that is frustrating, it’s obvious Kim and Thomas know something they’re not sharing, but what is it?
Every team member needs to find truths to hold on to as the future looks uncertain and changes loom on the horizon.

Another good book in the series. It was different with them working on a cold case instead of an active one, and yes, I did have the right person picked who did it as soon as they were mentioned, but since I couldn’t do any research for them, I had to let the team figure it out. Things are wrapping up for the team and the series, but at the same time, the ending of this book leaves me hanging! I need the next book! And I need it now!
Good addition to the series but wasn't the most interesting case in the planet. But hey, it reminded me of a Sue Thomas episode I watched with a friend.
I dearly love this series and these characters, but this was probably the weakest entry. The cold case had the potential to be really interesting, but instead, it seemed more like an excuse to keep the team bored and talking. A lot of talking.
I'm sure it was all necessary set up for where the series goes next, and there was some good character development, but I felt disappointed in the end.
I thoroughly enjoyed this one and adored being back with this beloved cast of characters. :)
This time the team is working on a cold case about a bank robbery, which was different--I love how each book has something unique about the plot and they all feel unique. While still exciting, it allowed for a more introspective setting for the book as the characters progress in their journeys and deal with the changes that keep coming their way. Which I'd love to talk about but there are so many spoilers at this point in the series since this is book 8!
Suffice to say, I was very invested in each of them but especially in Patrick and Kate (eep! I'm so excited about them!) and in Thomas...and I am so excited for the final book after this one whenever it may release. So looking forward to where each character will arrive by the end and very much enjoying hanging out with them in the meantime!
I'll also say that I appreciated the setting including the Riverwalk in San Antonio so much more now that I've actually visited that place in real life. It added such a depth to my reading experience, recalling the beautiful place and my visit there.
This series is very much a comfort read of mine and I am always delighted to find myself back in this series with these characters. Eight books so far, one to go, and I definitely recommend this series to anyone who enjoys fun/strong character dynamics, mysteries, or Christian fiction, or especially all three. It's so much fun and feels like a "crime show" but without the icky-ness of TV.
Anyway, I loved this book in the series and it's well worth the wait! One more! (That ending!)
I—like many others—have been eagerly awaiting this next Kate story. It was fantastic. No surprise there. I love this series and the characters, and though it’s been a while since I read the others, it was easy to slide back into Kate’s world.
I think my favorite aspect of this entire series is the spiritual depth. 5⭐️s and all the ❤️s for that!
The case was a bit different than previous ones, but still good. And that end…
I’m so looking forward to the last book! This series is superb.
