Just when I think I’m done with my family’s awful past for good, it comes back to haunt me. It’s been almost two years since I last dealt with demons. Gargoyle Gabriel and I are still together and closer than ever, my daughter Regan’s finishing her last year of high school, and even my mother Barbara’s found her calling by teaching her beloved knights-in-training. Just because I’m still having nightmares about my demonic ancestor Idris Lenoir doesn’t mean anything.
At least, that’s what I tell myself when I wake up in a cold sweat.
But when a harpy goes missing, unlocking a deep mystery, I can’t just sit on the sidelines. I'll do whatever it takes to find out the truth…even if it brings back ghosts from the past.
Melissa Hartley’s back for another adventure with the fae living secretly among us. Follow your favorite magical midlife mom in this page-turning Paranormal Women’s Fiction series.
DM Fike worked in the video game industry for over a decade, starting out as a project manager and eventually becoming a story writer for characters, plots, and missions. Born in Idaho's Magic Valley (you can't make this stuff up), DM Fike lived in Japan teaching English before calling Oregon home. She loves family, fantasy, and food (mostly in that order) and is on the constant look out for new co-op board games to play.

Melissa thought her life was becoming normal, it’s been almost two years since the defeat of Idris, she’s still with Gabriel, Reagan is no longer a gateway and is finishing her last year of high school. But when Melissa starts having nightmares with Idris and then fae start disappearing, and rogue Blessed order paladins show up starting with an attack on the library, things start to get messy. This book brings back most of the characters from the previous books as well as some from the Librarian books. There is some action, mystery, suspense, surprises and humour. This was a very enjoyable book and answered some leftover things from the previous books. I would highly recommend this series.
I really like this author and have read through all the books I could find. The book does have a semi cliffhanger to resolve in the next but the plot of this book does resolve before the end. The author strikes a good balance between priming for the next one while finishing this one.
Here we go again... Darn, I thought Melissa was going to have it fun and easy from here on out. Silly me... Excellent writing and great characters enhance this exciting addition to Melissa's journey. Such a fascinating evolution for both her and Regan! I'm so glad she has Gabriel! I am so looking forward to see what happens next!
This is book 5 in the Magical Midlife Mom series. It’s been about a year and a half since Melissa defeated Idris and her life has returned to normal since then. But now, she has started having nightmares that Idris is there during Regan’s younger years. Stronghold also gets a request to find a missing harpy. While investigating the harpy, they realize that there are more missing fae and they may be connected to a rogue group of Blessed Order Knights. I was so happy to have more adventures for Melissa! Even though she’s not fae, she has power of her own. Her heritage on her father’s side has given her some protection from magic, but also comes with a price as well. Even though Melissa is a good person, and perhaps because of that, she is exploited by the rogue Knights into doing what they want. Gabriel is still her knight in thick skinned armor, even if he tries too hard to shield her. (But it does teach Melissa a lesson!) We get to see more of Regan in this book as well. She is definitely becoming a young adult. She’s still struggling with her powers and trying to figure out if she’s actually using them or not. Lucas is still around, but not a main focus. And of course, we get Barbara’s wit and dry humor. She may even teach Melissa a thing or 2 about parenting. Even though they’ve never been close, I’m glad they’re starting to work through their issues. I was also excited to have the crossover between this series and the Fae Library series! It was fun getting back to Iggy and the fae realm. As usual the world building was wonderful and the build up to the end was paced just right. You are given enough clues to figure some of the plot out but still surprised at the end by the even bigger reveal. I can’t wait for the final book in this series!
