A Ghost's Calling - A Captivating Return to Whisper Hollow
What a delightful discovery! Regina Wixon and Deborah Cuyle have created something truly special with *A Ghost's Calling*. As someone who loves a good cozy mystery, I was completely drawn into Olivia Shaw's journey back to her hometown of Whisper Hollow.
From the moment Olivia returns to this atmospheric New England coastal village, you can practically feel the fog rolling in from the sea. The authors brilliantly weave the setting into every scene—when the weather turns stormy and the fog thickens, you just know something dramatic is about to unfold. It's deliciously atmospheric without being overdone.
But what really sets this book apart is the innovative use of interactive images! Being able to click on character illustrations and landmarks like Bea's Book Haven and The Daily Grind coffee house adds such a rich, immersive layer to the reading experience. It's like having a visual guide to Whisper Hollow right at your fingertips. Absolutely genius!
Olivia is exactly the kind of protagonist I love—determined, resilient, and willing to put herself in genuine danger to uncover the truth about a century-old death that still haunts her hometown. The mystery itself is expertly paced, with Olivia following one lead to another as past crime scenes suddenly come alive around her. The writing is gorgeous too, with memorable phrases like "velvet dust" that make you pause and appreciate the craft.
If you're a fan of cozy paranormal mysteries with strong female leads, atmospheric settings, and historical intrigue, this book is an absolute must-read. I'm already hoping for a sequel—I need more time in Whisper Hollow!
