A Small Town, Single Dad, Nanny, Age Gap Standalone Romance from USA Today and Amazon #1 Bestselling Author, Laura Pavlov.
Winnie Smith is the perfect nanny. She’s reliable, warm, and my daughter adores her. She cooks like a pro, styles pigtails like a fairy godmother, and knows her way around a car engine better than most mechanics. She’s made life easier. The house feels full again. And maybe… so do I. But living under the same roof has its challenges. Like catching her in the kitchen after midnight… barefoot, in tiny sleep shorts, eating ice cream straight from the tub. Don’t even get me started on the way that her lips wrapped around that spoon. I digress. It shouldn’t mean anything. She’s a decade younger. I’m her boss. She’s off-limits. And yet, it’s all I can think about. I was just looking for a nanny—not nightly cold showers and definitely not feelings. But the more we blur the lines, the harder it is to keep pretending. We say it’s temporary. No strings. Just one harmless arrangement. But what if she’s not just what my daughter needs… What if she’s exactly what I’ve been missing too?

Well, Laura Pavlov… you’ve done and saved the best for last with Whisper Sweet Nothings. This book completely enamoured me. For some reason, any time that Pavlov writes the single dad trope, I’m a goner.
Archer is in desperate need of a nanny for his daughter, Melody. When he meets Winnie, he’s not sure she’s a good fit for the job, but he gives her a chance. He couldn’t have been more wrong. Winnie fits seamlessly into Melody’s and his life. She’s the missing puzzle piece he didn’t know was missing.
Winnie and Archer were fantastic together. Truly, I adored their friends-to-lovers romance. But any scene with Melody completely won me over. Not only the scenes with her dad and family, those were precious, but particularly those with Melody and Winnie. They were the absolute sweetest and melted my heart.
Rosewood River is such a special series. I love this family. No one does small-town romance and family dynamics quite like Laura Pavlov. She’s a master at this. I feel like with this series specifically, each book got better and better. And the audiobook was incredible! Such fantastic narration. This book is a must read!

There is cheesy and there is… whatever that was. It was nauseatingly corny.
I get that it’s supposed to be a sweet, small-town romance, but come on, this was a Hallmark movie on steroids.
Even the 5yo wasn’t a human, but some kind of a perfect angel (has the author ever met an actual human child?!) and raising them was akin to something straight out of a tradwife’s wet dream.
On top of it, everything was told, not shown. Their entire relationship was politely discussed and decided, yet nothing was actually felt.
Either this really was not as good as the Magnolia Falls series or it’s me and I just got bored with the author’s writing.
Such a sweet single dad romance and a bittersweet end to the series! I loved how the heroine was determined to do a good job at being a nanny, but the hero fell pretty fast for her. And the Taylor Tea!?!? Loved the reveal! Finally!!
Whisper Sweet Nothings is a small town, age gap, single dad x nanny romance, and the 6th (and final book) in the Rosewood River series. This one was so cute and such a fun way to end this series, with also giving us a glimpse of the next book/series (I’m so ready)!
Archer is the single dad of the group, we’ve seen him throughout the series struggle with finding the right nanny or having issues with the one he hired for his daughter Melody. This book opens with him finally hiring for a new nanny and then the applicant Winnie misses the interview appointment. She shows up later and explains she was having car trouble but she’d love the chance and convinces him she’d be perfect for the job (even without the nannying experience) since she was raised by a single dad as well.
This was just so cute and sweet. Loved seeing Winnie with Melody, it’s fun that Winnie is a romance author as well (we even see her gear up for and go on a book release). Archer is a bit hung up on their age gap, he’s a decade older than her 24 but he eventually moves on from that. They had great chemistry, it was a bit slow burn which worked well for them. Love a supportive partner and how much he was there for her as an author. Fun seeing all the rest of the series characters as well and we do finally get some clarity on the Taylor Tea writer (the small town’s gossip column). This was a quick one and really cute, the audiobook was fantastic as well.
This book completely stole my heart. It was my first Laura Pavlov romance and I’m going to have to go read all her books now.
Archer is everything I want in a single-dad romance he’s protective, loving, and swoony. Every scene with his daughter was heartwarming , and the quiet emotional moments throughout the story were handled beautifully. Winnie brought so much warmth to the page, and I loved watching their connection grow.
With its small-town charm, genuine emotion, and perfectly balanced humor, this story was an absolute joy to read. It wrapped me up from the start and never let go.
4.5⭐️ | 2🌶 Honestly, I was emo the entire time because I knew this was the last time we'd get Melody and Beefcake as kids. This was so wholesome and sweet and the perfect ending to this generation of Rosewood River/Magnolia Falls/Cottonwood Cove. Laura, thank you for writing these worlds. On to the next generation. Thank you to valentine pr for this arc.
Narration by Sebastian York & Savannah Peachwood. These two were everything I needed for this story!!
The 6th and final book to the Rosewood River series and my heart is both so happy & equally sad at the same time. I have waited so long for Archer Chadwick & this single dad did not let me down!!
If you’re new here, you will quickly find out I have a huge love for Laura Pavlov and her Smalltown romances. This series has been such an amazing ride! Whisper Sweet Nothings is single dad/nanny story that is going to have you laughing, swooning, and feeling all the emotions!!
Archer is a great dad to Melody and an overprotective MMC who will have your heart melting!! His love for the girls is perfect!!
Winnie was just a ray of sunshine in a bottle & the sweetest addition to the Chadwick crew. I loved her bond & connection with Melody & the way they related so much. Her career as a romance author, just felt so right for this one!!
In typical Laura fashion, she kept us laughing with the group chats & just over the top in love with the Chadwick family!
This book was the perfect ending to this series & I cannot wait to see what she does next!!! 😍
There were cute moments and some parts were really good but most of the time i was just bored.
Also most of the time we wouldn’t actually see the cute things but only hear about them and that really annoyed me because thats literally why im here.
And i didn’t love the writing style, it felt like everything was in past tense.
Sometimes a romance just feels like a warm hug, and this was exactly that.
Whisper Sweet Nothings completely swept me away with its single dad and nanny storyline. Archer is protective, devoted, and quietly swoony, but it is the love he has for his daughter Melody that truly makes your heart ache in the best way. Every moment with her felt genuine and tender, and it added so much emotional depth to the story.
Winnie brings warmth and light into their lives so effortlessly. She never tries to replace anyone, she simply shows up with patience and love, and watching her bond with Melody was incredibly sweet. The grumpy and sunshine energy between her and Archer felt natural, and their slow shift from friendship to something deeper was both heartfelt and satisfying. The small town charm, family chaos, and laugh out loud banter made it feel full and alive.
By the end, I was completely smitten. It was emotional, romantic, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of heat. I closed this book feeling completely full and ridiculously happy.
Laura Pavlov strikes again! I’m obsessed already, Beefcake’s story can’t come soon enough, and those sneak peeks were everything. 😍
~~~~
Huge thank you to Laura Pavlov and Valentine PR for the ARC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨
I’m so sad to be done with Rosewood River, but I loved every second of Archer and Winnie! I want to be just like Winnie when I grow up–the way she stood up for herself to Archer, the way she showed up for Archer and Melody, and the way she fit right in with the rest of the girls. Archer is swoony and overprotective. He’s so hesitant to cross the professional line with Winnie, but these two are so meant to be. They fit together so well, and I loved watching them fall head over heels. I loved watching them with Melody. The sibling group chats had me giggling, Archer & Winnie had me melting, and I just loved seeing the last of the Chadwicks find their happily ever after. So so so good.
I’m sad to be saying goodbye to the Chadwick family but this was a really fun series! The last Chadwick to get struck by love is Archer who falls for his nanny 😏
Archer has a five year old daughter and his old nanny just isn’t cutting it anymore so he decides to hire Winnie, the niece of some locals in town. But Winnie is not only great with his daughter she is gorgeous and kind and he can’t stop thinking about her.
Winnie, is recently divorced and starting over. She is also a romance author looking to write her first book after the end of her long term relationship. This nanny job will allow her to write and make some much needed money as she gets back on her feet. Good think her good looking boss is such great inspiration 🥵
I loved this books so much! The love that Archer has for his daughter Melody is adorable. He wants to put her first and then he finds Winnie who loves Melody so much! They are such a great couple together. Winnie didn’t have a mom growing up so she understands what she is going through. She never wants to push or make her feel like she is trying to be her mom. Winnie shoe love through her actions and all that she does to help! Archer is cautious at first, but his heart knows that she is the one. The Chadwick boys are hilarious and this book made me love Bridger more! I was so happy to see them all having kids and I can’t wait to start a new series from Laura!!
Super sweet and cute romance about a single dad with an adorable 5 year old and the nanny. Winnie is a 24 year old author recovering from a divorce and looking for a fresh start.
Archie is the single dad raising his daughter Melody and running his own real estate company.
Sparks start flying almost from the beginning between Winnie and Archie. What will happen next?
Sebastian York and Savannah Peachwood do a banger of a job on the duet narration. Sebyo's voice is swoon worthy.
This book was an emotional rollercoaster, and I loved every minute of it! Winnie and Archer's story was the perfect end to one series and an amazing start to another. 🎢💖
I devoured it in less than 24 hours! Thank you for the advanced copy of "Whisper Sweet Nothings," available for pre-order now and on Kindle from February 24, 2026. 🤩📖
The legend says that I officially ended one more of the million unfinished series that I had 😉
Dare to say that overall this was a perfect small town series because every book was at least 4 solid stars, and I'm so happy about that.
And we end the Rosewood series with Archer's book the classic trope that I love so much single dad x nanny and I knew with a kid as cute as Melody this would be absolutely swooning and a little bit emotional... These 3 had me giggling and smiling at my kobo like a lunatic
Do I need to say that I loved this romance because Archer and Winnie were the best? There were some moments that I wanted to shake Archer but I like that these characters in one way or another they always resolve everything in the best way (and mature one)
After being completely clueless about who was being the column during all the five previous book I become pretty clear who it was in this book but well I liked the suspense while it lasted.
And now I have to dedicate myself reading the other series especially Magnolia Falls because of Emerson and Beefcake but there was a point in this book that it was referred a million different series and I got a little confused, like everything is actually connected 🫣
The Chadwick boys are back!! And as endearing and hilarious as ever.
As soon as I got the audiobook in my hands, it was in my ears. Not only because Laura is my favorite and I know that I am always in for a fun, heartfelt, witty, swoony romance, with the most amazing characters - but I also needed to know if we ever find out who has been writing the Taylor Tea 👀.
Archer has some serious inner struggles regarding his feelings for Winnie, his daughter Melody’s nanny, especially as they become close friends. But as much as they both try to fight it, their chemistry is off the charts. He is protective in all of the best ways. There is just the right amount of tension, jealousy and possessiveness to round it all out.
The way Winnie has Melody’s back and is able to easily connect with her is the sweetest, they made an amazing little family.
Get ready for plenty of cameos from some of Laura’s best characters!
This was the most perfect ending to Rosewood River. The epilogues 🥹 it’s always bittersweet to finish a beloved series, but I am ready for the next generation!!
🎙️𝗔𝗨𝗗𝗜𝗢𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞 ⇣ Savannah Peachwood and Sebastian York narrate in duet - I listened in one sitting, I couldn’t get enough of their voices together. They nailed the banter and emotions. Savannah’s soft cadence fit Winnie so well, and I loved listening to her southern twang for Melody. Sebastian was phenomenal, portraying all of the Chadwick boys and their shenanigans flawlessly! Produced by Lyric Audiobooks 👏🏼👏🏼
4.5 stars. It’s always bitter sweet when one of Laura’s series come to an end. This one was so good! I did feel like there was a bit of insta love for a while but otherwise I really enjoyed it. Archer and Winnie made the best pair, especially for our girl Melody. And that bonus epilogue?! Oh my WORD I’m so excited for the next gen series!!!
Okay I feel crazy because the rest of the reviews seem to rave about this book, but it was one of the worst I have read in a long time. The series started off so much better, but this story was so painfully cheesy. I literally only didn't DNF this because I wanted to know who authored the Taylor Tea and even that was obvious and anti-climatic.
Just a few of the reasons I rolled my eyes (in no particular order):
1. The five year old who talks like an adult just using a baby (the audio version of Melody's voice was so weird, no 5 year old sounds like that). For example, when Winnie tells Melody she's a writer, Melody's response is, "I love to write too!" Umm, I'm sorry, how many kindergarteners do you know that love to write? 🙄
2. Archer bandaging Winnie's knee in the beginning gave me all the icks. It's like he was treating her like his daughter. 🤮
3. The freakin' "super power" bows she wears ALL THE TIME (which again just made her seem like a child to me). 🙄
4. The fact that Melody is 24, has already written 2 best selling romance novels under a pen name, and now happens to have just written a novel also titled "Whisper Sweet Nothings" that also happens to be a single dad/nanny romance, but she wrote it before she got the nanny job? It's like Inception - a book within a book. And her constant reference to how Archer is like a guy from a romance novel. Ugh, HE IS IN A ROMANCE NOVEL. 🙄🤯
5. How about when she is in the tub and they are texting and she says "A kiss is just a kiss" (because that's totally normal for a nanny to say to her boss) so they meet in the hallway to kiss and she proceeds to dry hump his leg in a matter of seconds?!? I mean, I am all for spicy time, but this was just so awkward.
6. Okay Melody freaking out that her dad is hurt in the shower and calling for Winnie and then proceeding to mimic his orgasm sounds?? Like why???? 🫣
7. So we FINALLY find out who is writing the Taylor Tea and it is so obvious (with all the talk of Uncle Oscar's writing background) and suddenly we are just supposed to accept it and not be mad? Like they hated this person, but now it's Oscar so it's okay? Wtf. They should have made it that Josh Black dude (or whatever his name is from the grocery store) so he could be the bad guy, lol.
I'm sure there were lots of other cringe-worthy moments, but I literally skipped entire chapters just to get to the end of this one. The first few books in this series were just so much better.
The only two positive things I have to say are: 1. At least I got to listen to Sebastian York narrate Archer and 2. Laura Pavlov's brotherly text messaging banter is one of my favorite things ever. Otherwise I could have skipped the whole book, which sucks after being invested in a 6-book series. 😭
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
* I'd recommend reading the previous books first, as there is a lot of build-up to this story.
After years of having a horrible nanny and the effects it had on this daughter, Archer knows he has to find the perfect nanny this time. So when Winnie Smith walks into his life, he is guarded, but the instant connection between his daughter Melody and her make him very happy for the future. What he could not have imagined, is his own connection with Winnie. Because there is a lot of sparks between them, even if they both have been damaged by love in the past.
Pro's: + The stories by this author are incredibly character driven and this book is no exception in that regard. There are a lot of characters from previous books and this book just tied of a lot of story lines between all of them. + I think this was a great story to end the series with, as we had build-up to this story throughout the entire series and I'm glad this story did not disappoint in that regard at all. Winnie and Archer go really good together and this book was easy enough to read to make sense in all regards.
Con's: - This might be uncontroversial, but the way the author tries to make the children in this book cuter by turning them into small rednecks is a choice and I don't think it is one that is working for me at all. Children in books are already quite difficult to make cute and this attempt felt like a fail for me.
The couple in this book was the perfect choice to end this series with and since they went together well too, I think it made this ending very easy to digest. The author managed to tie up all the loose ends and give us also a small peak into future upcoming books. This book did revolve around children, but the redneck-y slang made it hard for me to digest their scenes and I wish different choices where made in that regard. Something that caught my eye in this series, that no matter the kind of story, all the sexy scenes are close to the same and all follow almost the same blueprint. I hope that is something that is something that gets fixed in the next books, as the writing of this author really does keep getting better.
it’s a wrap for a fantastic series! i’ve been loving rosewood river so much, and i honestly feel like laura saved the best for last with this one. whisper sweet nothings was everything i wanted and more, and it is without a doubt my favorite in this series.
i feel like i say this about every couple from laura’s books, but archer and winnie were such a perfect match. they balanced each other out and were each other’s missing puzzle piece. their connection was instantaneous and the push and pull was frustrating in the best way. also, healthy communication and no unnecessary drama! loved that so much.
archer’s daughter was a prime example of why i love single parent romances. i adored her relationship with her dad, as well as the bond she developed with winnie. so, so cute!! and let’s not forget about the rest of the chadwick boys. they cracked me up with their banter and hilarious group texts, and cutler aka beefcake was an icon as always. i genuinely don’t think i’ve ever been more excited for a book than i am for cutler’s!!
saying goodbye is definitely bittersweet, but i’m so excited to see what’s next!
💚 small town 💚 single dad x nanny 💚 age gap 💚 slow burn 💚 she’s a romance author 💚 will they/won’t they
How can this be the last book in Rosewood River? I'm so sad, no more Chadwick pickleball or flipping each other off in the group chat...
This one I've been wondering about. We knew Archer and Melody but Laura kinda kept them on the down-low. I didn't know their backstory, I always wondered with each book (where's Melodys mom?). Which I thought was a great choice. It was this slight little mystery.
Archer now needs a new nanny. And he gets the sweetest one. Winnie is perfect for Melody. They become super close, its so cheeseness. She knows what Archer and Melody both need. Archer is attracted but super wary. Theres the whole boss/employee vibe and Archer keeps reminding himself... shes just soooo much younger (obviously not that bad, its in his head!)
This one was a little lower stakes. Of course Archer doesnt want to start something, then lose Winnie. because Melody looses too.
But Winnie fits right in. With his home, family, and with all the Chadwick girls. How can Archer deny all of that?!
One thing I was sad about... there was only a few scenes with Beefcake. But Archer has more responsibilities than the other guys, so I can see him spending less time with him. I am not ready for Beefcake to grow up. But then I am ready.
Whisper Sweet Nothings gets all the stars. Such a satisfying and emotional ending to the series. I absolutely loved Archer and Winnie’s story, it had me pulled me in from the very first page. Winnie and Melody were incredibly sweet together, and I adored how Winnie stepped so naturally into their lives, fitting perfectly from the start. Every character felt special, giving all the best found-family vibes. Laura Pavlov writes in a way that makes it feel like you’re right there with them, living every moment.
There’s just something about a small town romance that feels like home, and Laura delivers it every single time. Archer, Winnie and Melody already have my whole heart. These characters I would move towns for! 🫶🏼
- Dual POV - Single Dad x Nanny - Forced Proximity - Age Gap - Small Town - Slow Burn
Small town romance for dummies! I get that the MCs have separate POVs, but do we really need the repetition? “I’m her boss / He’s my boss,” “I’m older than her / He’s older than me”… If we cut that out, the book could probably be half as long.
Usually I don’t mind kids in single dad romances, but this one was just too annoying for me. With that said, this series would make great Hallmark movies!
This was definitely an improvement compared to the previous book, but it still doesn’t quite reach the level of the second and third books in the series. While the story feels more cohesive and emotionally engaging this time around, there’s still something missing that keeps it from being truly memorable.
The plot does a decent job of tying the series together, especially with the long-awaited reveal of who’s behind the weekly gossip column, which I had kind of guessed.
Archer needed ASAP a new nanny for his daughter, Melody. Winnie was new in town and had the worse day when she had the interview for the job as a nanny. Somehow, Winnie got a chance to impress Archer and that's how it was able to blossom the cutest relationship between Winnie and Melody. But there was something else which has blossomed too. What exactly? Well, a crazy attraction between our nanny and her employer, one which shouldn't have been present from the start. Will they be able to ignore everything and keep things strictly professional?
It was so nice to return to Rosewood River and all these amazing characters🩵. This time we had Archer, Winnie and Melody in the center of attention, who delivered the sweetest, the most fun and endearing moments. I adooored that instant connection and that familiarity which happened really fast. I also loved that small town feeling, because many characters from Laura's previous books made their appearances, making everything so much fun and making laugh so hard. Their connection was so strong and unique, adoring how they were constantly bickering, but always doing it with so much love.
It was sad to say goodbye to 'Rosewood River' series, but after that ending, I'm already super hyped about the new era Laura is about to start. And I can say this now🤭 It will have our famous Beefcake aka Cutler Heart as a main character for the 1st book😍. So excited!!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for accepting me for this e-ARC, Valentine Pr and Laura Pavlov. It's such an honor to be able to be part of this amazing team🩵.
Archer needs a new nanny for his daughter Melody. He thinks he’s taking a risk when he hires Winnie; a woman who showed up late to the interview and no experience taking care of kids. He had no idea how life changing that leap of faith was going to be!
“Her lips parted when I pulled my thumb back. I was going to kiss her. I wanted it. She wanted it. That was all that mattered. I tipped my head down as her hand moved to the back of my head and tangled in my hair, tugging me closer. Our lips just a breath apart.” 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Well here we are, the last book in the Rosewood River series. I love the single dad/nanny trope I really really do and this one was just so sweetly done. I freaking loved Archer and Winnie together. They just had this perfect chemistry with each other, it was funny, it was flirty. Yes Archer needed to get over the age gap thing, because really it wasn’t that crazy and I just loved this sweet sweet way that they fell for each other. Winnie was great with Archer’s daughter Melody, their bond was great to see since Winnie was also raised by a single dad. Not to mention the late night run ins in the kitchen with barely any clothes on. We get to see all of our favorite characters from the series including the ever unhinged text chain and the ChadSix Pickleball games. I did cry at the end of the book, knowing it was the end of the series, but it was so fun to see that extended epilogue with the 20 year time jump when we get to see the next generation with Cutler “Beefcake” Heart all grown up.
“Do you want me to whisper sweet nothings in your ear, Winnie?” I teased. “You could give all my heroes a run for their money, Archie,” she said.
