I mostly really liked this book and it’s concepts. So many of the magical aspects are so important and wonderful and I love those in the book. But the way that it talks about trauma and the forgiveness of other people could be damaging in certain aspects. It doesn’t distinguish between the trauma of things like heartbreak in a relationship and legitimate ptsd inducing trauma. It uses the concept of trauma a little too freely. I do not like the way that it basically tells you to use your trauma to be stronger, but that is not good advice for certain types of trauma, and the book does not admit that. On a similar vein, it talks about forgiveness of other people that have hurt you and letting go of things. That can be good advice for peace, but there are certain situations where telling people to forgive someone is not helpful. For instance, it is perfectly acceptable to never forgive someone who has abused you. There are other ways, a lot of times through therapy, to personally start to move on from something that does not entail forgiving someone who absolutely does not deserve it. I don’t know, I just felt that some of the concepts in this book could be harmful with the lack of caveat for certain situations.

Again, otherwise, I loved this book, and I did feel that those sections were still helpful for less serious issues in my life, just not for some of the things that I have experienced. I particularly loved the spells, affirmations, and general movements towards empowerment.

Witch Please! Magic for Healing Your Inner Hot Mess*

Love this book and the art within! It’s as if the author puts her hand out welcoming you to accompany her on a journey of healing and self love. Within you will find a unique approach to Shadow Work, with a witchy, magickal influence. Through this work, the author minimizes any fears associated with shadow work, encouraging us to go both forward and embrace it without judgment or a need for perfection, reminding us that our imperfections are what makes us special and understand our true strengths.

The approach the author uses is to gently guide you, while providing insightful information. I found this to be especially useful for those new to the Craft as well as a refresher for those with a bit more experience. Open your heart and embark on this magickal journey of self.

Worse than I wanted it to be

This whole book felt so forced. Here's a self improvement book with witchy stuff...got to get the Wiccan crowd i guess. Half way through i was dying for it to be over.
