She needs a headliner. He needs a break. Neither of them needs the sparks they can’t ignore.
Maddie Fields has dedicated her life to teaching music and inspiring her students in Juniper Falls. But when the headliner for her charity concert bails, she’s left with no choice but to turn to the one person she never thought she’d see again—Alex Whitaker, her high school crush turned world-famous rock star.
Alex came back to Juniper Falls to escape the chaos of his career, not to relive old memories or take on new commitments. When Maddie asks for his help, he’s ready to say no—until her fiery determination (and a little guilt) changes his mind.
As they’re forced to work together, Alex’s big-city bravado and Maddie’s small-town practicality clash at every turn. Yet the more time they spend together, the more they realize their differences might just make them the perfect harmony.
But with Alex’s career pulling him in one direction and Maddie’s roots holding her in another, their past and future collide in a crescendo of emotions. Can they face the music and find a way to stay in tune—or will they end on a bitter note?

Susanne Ash writes sweet contemporary romance. When she's not busy putting pen to paper, she loves to cook, knit, and head out exploring with her husband and daughter. She lives close to the beach in beautiful South Carolina. You'll find that her setting is often a fictionalized version of her surroundings and the places she's visiting with her family.
This was a perfect little story! I loved the music aspect and a look at one of the main characters being more than just one of the small town residents. Even though I guess he is, but he's a popular musician! It's a fun new aspect compared to the last few stories.
The only reason I give four stars is because I feel like the conflict is very similar in most of the stories so far.. the MMC has plans to leave, or gets some offer to, and then the FMC gets upset and they fight. Not that it doesn't work, but it feels similar in a lot of the stories so far.
I'd love to see something new, so we'll see what the next story brings!

I love this series. They are such good little short feel good love stories you can read all at once or in between books like I do, like a palate cleanser. What I love most is how even though all of these books form part of a series, they can all be read as standalones and you can skip back and forth between them and not read them in a certain order (like I do lol). I will eventually reread them all in order this time because these stories are so good, I can reread them multiple times and not tire of them.
Clean Standalone Romance Interconnected Series HEA
Can be read as a standalone. Some of the characters overlap throughout the series. They went to high school together. She was all about following the rules and playing exactly what was written. He was about feeling the music and kept altering it. Now she's the music teacher and he's a rock star. What happens when he comes back to town? Will they get past their rivalry?
I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Maddie Fields is dedicated to teaching music. She is in charge of a concert to help fund music education in Juniper Falls. When the headliner act cancels, she goes to Alex Whitaker who is a famous rock singer on vacation in their hometown. They were close in high school, but parted ways when he left for his career. A heartwarming story of second chance love, and furthering a love of music for students.
Maddie is used to following the rules of music. Everything is precise and perfect as she teaches her music class. When Alex arrives though, he's bending those rules and if she wants his help she'll have to learn to bend them as well. I know I keep saying this series is good, but it really is so cute.
I enjoyed this second chance. Love story as he came back into town to find what he was missing and realized it was the love he had left behind. I also enjoyed her realizing that structure didn't have to be the be all and end all of things.
Found it tedious and repetitive. Lots of inconsistencies. Very inaccurate about music, and hero thinking he was better than Mozart is laughable and arrogant.
