This book is of very limited and specific usage. If you are a high school vocal music teacher, with a small but not a large amount of a cappella experience, and you're trying to start an a cappella group from within your existing ensemble, this book is very targeted toward you. If you're anyone else, you might find a few pieces of valuable info in this book, but you would just as well find them in a different book or just by asking around. If this book had been marketed as being for that specific audience, I might not have been so critical of it on this basis (and also might not have read it cover to cover). If a future edition of this book were published, I would suggest either expanding its scope to make it readable by the audience to which it's being marketed, or to make it very clear who's expected to benefit from reading this book. I would also strongly urge addressing the cis/heteronormative biases which will alienate many high school students, and in general (especially if the book really is for high school teachers) consulting with high school students and incorporating their perspectives.

I haven't read this cover to cover, but every time I need advice for my pop group, I pull it out. Great resource for choir teachers and directors of pop ensembles!
