Inviting Captivity: Warrior Alien, MF, Sci-fi Romance

Rate this book
Amina and Myrum both have secrets and loved ones to keep safe. Trust won’t come easy, but perhaps love will pave the way.

Myrum

Myrum thinks he's done serving the empire. After being badly traumatized during the last war, he finally returns home, expecting to live a quiet life and perhaps even persuade one of the human pets on Kalor to spend time with him. That’s all shattered when a request comes from someone he can’t refuse. He has no choice but to go on one last secret mission.

He’s not sure if he cares if he comes back alive or not. Then he meets Amina and everything changes!

Amina

Amina is intrigued the moment she meets Myrum. As a human, she’s used to being ignored at best and treated as non-sapient at worst, but Myrum is different. He’s friendly, sweet, and attentive.

Despite his cheerful, carefree attitude, she can tell he’s hiding some old wounds. He’s also secretive about where he’s going and why. As they grow closer, she's more worried about him and everything he’s not telling her.

Despite Myrum’s secrets, she’s determined to stay at his side. He needs backup , and she’s ready to teach anyone who tries to hurt him that small doesn’t mean defenseless!

Inviting Captivity

I enjoyed the contrast between different cultures in this book. The Ossiso have a sort of hierarchal caste structure in which many people are not considered to have souls,

“If you decide to keep him, we only ask that his body be returned for the proper ceremonies when his life expires. We hope you decide not to abuse him, but we believe that anything that befalls us was decided before we were ever born. Every pain he experiences was meant to happen.”

So much suffering is excused with this belief system.

On the other hand, the Ugarians have a community based structure where each person, regardless of species or place in society, is taken care of,

“Everything in Amina’s community was set up to help everyone succeed. Sometimes success was living a simple and safe life on Ineeko, and sometimes it was going off on adventures. Transition and change were expected and accepted and goals were only set by the individuals, not those around them.”

I've always loved how sci fi makes up its own rules and reminds us to imagine bigger than what's in front of us. It's not hard to see the Ossisos as modern day Western culture and the Ugarians as something to keep aiming for.

I also liked the negotiation around marriage. The asking partner says nothing as the other talks it out with their family and friends.

loved it!!

This series has been fantastic! I’ve really enjoyed the story arc and with this one I was a little worried in the middle how things would turn out but it still went on to give us a wonderful and well deserved HEA for Myrum and Amina and Ruby! I always enjoy when characters from previous books make an appearance as well, and in this case a nod to characters from a separate Talin series and finally more evidence of human Talin hydrids in Amina. I was wondering where they were staying since Talin’s and humans had been together for hundreds of years! Also thought this one was the end of the series but the authors note at the end seems to hint more is to come and I can’t wait!!

I liked the earlier books in the series more than Inviting Captivity. The earlier books have more scenes with the hero spoiling the human and buying her things and cuddling her and keeping her warm and fed. The pet trope.

Here, the human heroine works on an alien spaceship with her family. She is very safe and independent. She didn't need to be rescued by the hero. She helps him with his mission and eventually they live happy ever after.

I liked the story overall but It didn't have the same feel as the earlier books.

Inviting Captivity by RK Munin is a part of the Human Pets of Talin, featuring half human blue haired Amina and Myrum, a Talin male, set to meet the alien who had saved him from space. Unfortunately, his savior is nuts and winds up trapping Myrum into a marriage while waiting for a sex change! Amina and Myrum bond and save many others from a life of slavery and firm a huge family by adopting them. Myrum also has an emotional support animal, Ruby, a lizard type creature!

another amazing book!

I have loved every book from this Author and this book is no different! I read it the day it released and I can’t wait for the next book! Also can I just say that I love Ruby? I really do. I want one so bad. Who wouldn’t want a medium lizard that is coloured like jewelry?!

Great as always

I love the human pets of Talin series. This book centers more on a relationship outside of Talin than alot of the prior books. Focusing on the relationship that develops between a free mostly human and her damaged Talin. Add in her family and you have a great adventure, romance with lots of laughs story. Loved it!

Spicy, male female, 3rd person dual point of view, paranormal romance. Loved it! The author handled the male main character's trauma really well, there was a perfect amount of our animal sidekick Ruby, the steamy scenes were really fun, and all of the characters were wonderful. I especially loved the family dynamics in this story. Once again - I loved it! ❤️

3.75 🌟
85% space (& soap) opera & 15% romance.
That was fun but also incredibly packed with secondary characters (felt like 30 of them between the extended family thing and the aliens met along the way). I would have liked a list to be able to follow.
Without spoiling anything, Ruby is a sweetheart and Lorse is a gross creep!

Good Reading

I enjoy this series and this story didn’t disappoint. A story of PTSD, thoughts of suicide, despair and then meeting someone who makes a difference in your life. Good story, filled with twists.

Really enjoyed this one, and I liked that it went a different direction to some of the others. I will say there was an expectation that you remembered ALL the old characters and I just couldn’t.
