I never planned to get fake engaged in Vegas. Especially not to him. Noah Chance. Lead singer. Serial heartbreaker. The man I’ve spent six years keeping out of PR nightmares while ignoring the way he makes my pulse skip like a scratched record. But when my billionaire ex crashes into my life demanding a second chance, Noah does the unthinkable—he proposes. In front of everyone. A fake engagement to keep my ex at bay, protect my reputation, and definitely not make my heart race every time he calls me fiancée. Now I’m living in Noah’s beachside house in Saltwater, “for appearances.” Sharing his bed, “for credibility.” Fighting the heat that simmers between us, “for sanity.” I know better than to fall for a rockstar. Especially this one. But the way he watches me when he thinks I’m not looking? The way his voice drops when he calls me his? The way he kisses me like he’s daring me to believe in us? Vegas might be known for quickie weddings and even faster divorces… but some fake engagements are worth the risk. Even if it means betting my heart on the one man I swore I’d never gamble on. A steamy, small-town rockstar romance with fake fiancée antics, forced proximity, and enough tension to light up the Vegas Strip.
Nikki Kiley is an author of Contemporary Romance who lives in a tropical paradise. A voracious reader, who felt transported and transformed by the stories she read, since she was a young girl she dreamt of writing stories that would entertain and move her readers, like she was and still is, by talented authors. Finding herself working from home during lockdown, she could not resist the opportunity to make those lifelong dreams a reality. An accountant by profession, when not working the day job of running a medical office, she spends hours crafting and writing stories about characters – everyday heroes and heroines - earning their chance at love. She makes her home in Puerto Rico with her very handsome husband, two young adult children, and a gentle giant, the bullmastiff, Kira, who many readers will recognize in her stories. She loves the beach, her Nespresso maker, and cupcakes (S’more in particular).
3.5 ⭐️ curse Goodreads for not allowing 1/2 stars 😒
Reformed is a book in a series around the chance brothers. I didn’t read any other books in this series previously, but felt like it could be read as a stand alone for the most part.
Sophia is a PR rep for Noah’s band. They have a long history, and long yearning for one another. They are finally in town together and their chemistry sparks like no other.
They end up in a fake engagement that leads to them both falling more and more, and realizing it was real along.
Overall I felt the story was okay. There wasn’t a lot of build up, I felt like they both were instantly in love at the start and they were pretty vocal about it. The conflicts weren’t too crazy, and resolved fairly quickly which made the story a little stale towards the end. But, it was well written and I loved the side characters!
Thank you NetGalley & victory editing for the ARC 🩷
Ok I didn’t think another author could beat Lana Ferguson describing a sex scene but I believe Nikki Kiley just did it. Sophia a PR and venture capitalist woman on a mission after a serious toxic relationship. Noah an up and coming rockstar with a construction company has falling hard for Soph but unable to tell her. The timing is always off. The sparks fly in this book from the get go. A slow burn that is super hot in detail. Fake it until you make it or is it real forever. Couldn’t put it down. Sophia has been the publicist for Noah Chance’s band for years, and we discover they harbor mutual crushes. After a painful breakup with a billionaire tech entrepeneur, the ex-fiance confronts Sophia in a very public hotel reception area. When Noah enters the hotel and realizes what is happening, he announces he and Sophia are engaged.
While Noah tries to make the engagement real, his band is on the cusp of signing a big record deal and going on a six-month tour. Meanwhile, Sophia tries to suppress her feelings for Noah while starting her own female-focused venture capital company. These two have a lot on their plates!
Nikki Kiley writes female protagonists who are confident and independent, and Sophia is no exception. She is perfectly balanced by Noah, who is a cinnamon roll, and will do anything to keep Sophia in his future.
I enjoy novels where there are circumstances which could keep the MCs apart and not get their HEA. How the logistical problem was resolved was very satisfying.
This novel contains: Friends to lovers Slow-burn with chemistry jumping off the page Fake relationship Cinnamon roll male protagonist Workplace Rockstar Social media mishaps Open-door scenes 🌶️🌶️🌶️
This is the fifth book in the Chance Brothers series. It can be definitely read as a stand-alone novel; the MCs from the previous books make appearances in a few scenes.
Nikki Kiley's Reformed is a smart, steamy, and satisfying friends-to-lovers romance that delivers everything readers love. Slow burn tension, a fake engagement that feels all to real , and a cinammon roll rockstar hero who will do anything for the fiercely independent heroine. With sizzling chemistry, witty banter , social media mishaps , and heartfelt moments , Sophia and Noah's story strikes the perfect balance of heat and humor. Make it a five star standout in the Chance Brothers series that can be enjoyed as a standalone or savored with the whole family saga.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved reading the latest installment in the chance brothers series and I have been looking forward to it for a long time. Even though all the books can be right as a standalone, including this one I do recommend reading this one after reading the rest of them because you really get to see Sophia and Noah's story build throughout all the other books! I really liked how the fake engagement was handled and I loved how Noah was so supportive of Sophia and her dreams!
Sophia has been in Noah’s life for years and when she leaves her controlling ex-fiance it is Noah who comes to her rescue. He proposes to her; fake, of course…until it’s not. Their chemistry is definitely felt.
This was a sweet and spicy rock romance that had me rooting for them to find their HEA.
Sophia has had a rough year. She thought she’d found her forever with a billionaire—a man she believed was worthy of her—but she was wrong. He turned out to be controlling and manipulative. After breaking off the engagement, there’s Noah.
Noah has been her best friend for years—handsome, talented, and a rockstar. Now that she’s single again, he’s confessed a few things to her… and she can’t ignore the spark between them. With her ex still causing trouble, Noah comes up with a bold plan to make Adrian leave her alone.
The chemistry between Noah and Sophia is electric—when they finally come together, my Kindle was on fire! I loved their struggle, their sweetness, and the way they supported each other. The story is romantic, sizzling hot, and even throws in a stalker and a few obstacles to keep things exciting.
It all builds to a wonderful happily-ever-after—and I’m such a sucker for those. I really enjoyed this book, I’m giving it four stars, and I definitely recommend it.
"If only they could see how I'm different now, how much one woman made me want to change."
I'll admit, I haven't read any of the prior books in this series. I'm not really into construction workers or contractors as the main characters of my romances, nor do I care for home improvement shows. I signed up for this ARC because Rockstar Romances is my favorite genre.
The best part of this book is Noah. I just absolutely adored him. A reformed party boy player, hence the book's title, he was sweet, sexy, supportive, charming with a big, close family and an authenticness (is that a real word?) that stole my heart. I honestly don't know how Sophia thought for one minute that she'd be able to resist this man. I certainly wouldn't.
Sophia was an interesting character. A combination of strong, smart, and capable mixed with a big heart and a vulnerability she tried so hard to hide. Her mother was a piece of work, so it's no wonder she didn't trust her own feelings. It says something about her that she allows anyone to get close.
The story itself was pretty predictable, and the blurb is a little misleading, but I still enjoyed it. The only problem with the book was the huge number of inconsistencies. I can't believe how many there are. I honestly questioned if it had even been edited, but at the end, Nikki thanks someone she calls her continuity editor, which is almost worse than if there had been no editor at all. There are way too many examples to list here, but if you read the book, you'll see them all. Here are a few. First off is that Noah and Sophia tell each other nothing between them is fake and they have real feelings for each other over and over again and yet each time they act like it's the first time they are hearing it. In between, they act like they aren't sure they are ready to admit their feelings to each other, even though they already have, multiple times. Oh, and they kept changing their story of who knows their engagement is fake and who doesn't.
Also, and this got on my nerves, Noah is not a rockstar, despite how many times Sophia calls him one. His band, Everglades, is a Country Music Band. (Great band name, BTW. They are a bar band from Miami.) They are opening for a country music superstar and she actually calls him "Mr. Country Star" once in the book. So it actually kind of annoyed me how they kept calling him a rockstar, especially when Noah described the band as "overgrown boys who play rock music for a living," which they aren't. There are a lot more examples, but these are the biggest to me.
Another thing that bothered me was all the music industry errors. And where was the band's manager throughout the story? I kept waiting for him or her to show up and step in, but no one ever did. There's no way a band who's unknown with no releases would negotiate a record label contract completely alone. They had an attorney, so how could they not have a manager?
All the inconsistencies and errors annoyed me at first, but eventually, it got to where I was just laughing at them all. And despite all these errors, it's otherwise a pretty well-written book. Not many grammar or language errors, even the punctuation was pretty solid. And the sex scenes are steamy and believable with good pacing. Noah and Sophia had great chemistry between them, which is very important in a romance.
In conclusion, I really liked the two main characters and enjoyed the story. It's not really deep, almost a romcom without the comedy, but it's fun and entertaining, and the ending was complete. The epilogue, set a year later, was a welcome view of how these two are making their lives work together, which is exactly what I like in an epilogue. I'm actually thinking I might go back and read the earlier books. I definitely plan to read Carlos' book when it comes out. He seems like another sweetheart.
This novel is a part of the „Chance Brothers Series“. It’s not really necessary to read the earlier books before, but maybe it is easier to follow up with all the side characters regarding their relations to the main characters.
The MMC Noah is an electrician at the construction company owned by his family and he is also frontman of the aspiring rock band „Everglades“.
Sophia, the FMC is a successful PR strategist and also a future venture capitalist, who will mainly support women start ups.
A lot of rather predictable events happen in their story. Naturally there are also some villains, one of them Sophia’s former fiancé Adrian who mentally abused and manipulated her during the time of their relationship and who afterwards gets rather nasty too. And there are others…
The cast of the plot consists on one side of the large family of the MMC where the individual members are living their own lives in partly different ways, some of them connected through the mentioned above shared construction company, or being former foster children and/or playing together in the aspiring rock band.
On Sophia’s side are her successful career-oriented single mother with a lot expectations for her daughter and also a lot of prejudices against men, some great girl friends (a lot of texting going on) and Michi, a well meaning meddling client with a dominant mother of her own.
Adding ruthless marketing specialists and representatives of a record label, who only pursue their own goals i.e. personal careers and financial success. They show no respect for personal and private matters regarding the members of he rock band, which is already gaining more and more success on their own and also because of the helpful social media strategies developed by Sophia.
The usual misunderstandings and obstacles appear and lead to heartache on both sides, but the swoon worthy hero finally steps up.
I received a free ARC of this novel and am leaving my review voluntarily. My personal summary: it was a nice read with all the feels, entertaining but not really outstanding because the author used a lot of clichés and well known obstacles. My personal impression was, that the novel was constructed a tiny bit like a Lego castle. But that’s only my very personal point of view and there are enough really entertaining elements I think will meet the taste of future readers nicely.
The premise of the book is romantic comedy gold: Noah, an up-and-coming musician, and Sophia, his PR strategist/family friend, have each been secretly in love with the other for years. Sophia recently ended her engagement to a venture capitalist and has been working on rebuilding the self-esteem he chipped away at. When her ex tries to pressure her to get back together, Noah steps in and announces his engagement to Sophia... the one she had no clue about. Fake engagement covering up real love is a winning formula.
That being said, the story fell pretty flat for me. Noah and Sophia are fairly upfront about their feelings for each other once they are "engaged", but they still act as if they are uncertain about their future and keep promising vaguely to work it out at some point. Additionally, they act as if they will be away for the entire six months his band is touring, but Noah tells his brothers, with whom he owns a construction company, that he won't be on the road the entire time, coming back home at times between stops.
The real disappointment for me was that I didn't feel any chemistry between Sophia and Noah. There were no scenes of playful banter or vulnerably opening up to one another. There was a lot to work with - Noah has lost both of his parents, family obligations at the construction company vs pursuing his dreams of playing music as a touring musician, Sophia's complicated relationship with her overly "helpful" mother, her lack of relationship with her dad (who is basically never mentioned), her loss of self-esteem at the hands of her ex - but none of them are covered with any real depth in the pursuit of showing, not telling, how Sophia and Noah trust each other.

Low-angst Fake engagement Forced proximity One bed Mutual pining
After reading the blurb, I took a chance on this book, not realizing I was picking up book 5 of a series. This was a quick read, basically read it in one sitting. I really enjoyed this book! There’s obviously a backstory that I’m missing, but I liked that I was able to pick up the fifth book and not feel lost.
Sophia and Noah have been mutually pining for each other for years. After Noah stopped a kiss at a wedding because Sophia was too drunk, she basically ran away embarrassed. Sophia meets her controlling narcissistic ex immediately after and Noah is heartbroken. After ending her engagement, Noah finally sees his chance. They are in Vegas. Sophia, a pr strategist, was there for her clients' tequila launch and to work for Noah’s band, who finally got a break opening for a big country artist. While at sound check for Noah, Sophia’s room is broken into and Noah insists she stay with him. After a super-quick push and pull, these two finally give into their feelings. The next day, after a meeting, Sophia is cornered by her ex, who insists she stop the tantrum she’s having and comes back to him. Noah sees this going down, marches over and tells her ex that they are engaged and to leave her alone.
Their timing is off. Sophia is still healing from the break-up and Noah’s band just got a deal for a six-month tour, but Noah finally got her and isn’t letting her go.
This is a quick and easy book for a little escape from reality. I’ll def go back and read the rest of the series.
Really wish Goodreads would get half stars already. I would give this book 3.5 stars.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest
3.75 ⭐️ Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read an ARC of Reformed. My personal experience of this book would have been more enjoyable had I read the prior four. This story has lovable characters, chemistry, and a little bit of spice to top it all off. Sophia has what I look for in a main female lead. She has spunk, confidence, and a take-no-nonsense attitude. She works hard for what she wants. We also find out she loves big and fiercely when she comes to reality about confessing, to herself, her true feelings about Noah. Noah seems to have a big heart and loving nature despite his past. He is determined in so many aspects of his life. He knows a few things for certain: 1) his band mates and his family mean more than the world, 2) He can and will stand up for what is right, and 3) Sophia had stolen his heart years ago and it would never belong to another person. He, too, has love that is big and wild. In protecting his friend, he didn't have to convince himself of his feelings about Sophia. Overall this book was a quick read, but it felt very rushed from the moment the fake engagement plan was hatched until the end. I would have liked to see a little more tension between Sophie and Noah. I feel like the situation with Adrien was very quick to be resolved. The story needed just a little more depth.
I have loved every book I've read by Nikki Kiley, and this was no exception! I will do my best to provide you with the essentials without giving away too much, as you need to read this book. Sophia, a successful venture capitalist and PR guru, just got out of a bad relationship. Her ex is a billionaire who was controlling and ended up being quite the bad apple. Noah, who is Sophia's best friend, is actually in love with her, but the timing for him to confess his love to her has never been quite right. Oh - did I mention he is an up and coming Rockstar? - swoon freely. Now that Sophia is away from her controlling and manipulative ex, Noah decides it's time to take care of Sophia the way only he can. However, when the ex starts stirring up trouble for Sophia, Noah decides that a fake engagement is key. The chemistry between these two - holy smokes! The spice - get a fan and some ice cold water, because you are going to need it. The plot is well structured and is paced well. The characters are complex and well-developed. The growth is sweet and in sync. And Noah is so relatable. I don't want to give up anything else because this book is excellent and you need to experience it all firsthand! Thank you to Nikki Kiley, the publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC! Happy Reading!
Reformed is the 5th book in the Chance Brothers series and is an interconnected standalone. There’s serious spoilers for the whole series. I felt like my experience would have been enhanced a lot if I’d read the other books.
Characters: Noah Chance, age 32- Frontman for The Everglades Sophia Hernandez, age 28- PR Strategist
The banter in the book was top notch. Also the pining was so big. The overall thread felt like “it’s always been you.” Perhaps if I’d read the other books, I would feel better about the overall storyline shifting very quickly from fake to real. It felt like I was missing something. Noah and Sophia did seem meant to be. The subplots trying to break them apart seemed pretty flimsy though.
What to Expect: Musician (country) romance Second change romance Fake engagement Best friend’s brother-in-law Friends to lovers Forced proximity Cinnamon roll hero He falls first Found family Epilogue + bonus epilogue
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Thank you Nikki Kiley and Book Sirens for providing me with an advanced copy of this book!
Slow Burn, Friends to More? Fake Engagement in a Fake World with Fun Characters
This book was a lot of fun and a glimpse into the world of PR, influencers and a budding band's career. I loved that Noah and Sophia had been friends for years (for fans of the Chance Brother's series) they are both characters as Noah is one of the Chance brothers and Sophia's BFF is married to one. It totally can be read as a standalone but if you have read the series the background is helpful. I enjoyed that they were friends first, that although Noah has pined for Sophia for years, he respected her career and supported her goals and I loved how smart and focused Sophia was in completing her clients PR objectives. The background characters added a lot of fun (updates on the Chance brothers for those interested), evil exes, and zany clients. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I was sent an ARC by the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This ARC was my introduction to this author and her work, provided by Hidden Gems. This book is a fun, rockstar romance with friends-to-lovers that might have been hinted at in prior books. Yet, this standalone was easy enough to follow without reading any of the previous books. This story concentrates on Sophia, who is recovering from her toxic ex-fiancé and trying to regain her career in public relations. She has a few clients, and one is a friend, Noah Chance, the lead singer of Everglades. The story is dual POV, and therefore, you know what both Noah and Sophia are thinking. There is an underlying attraction between them, but when Noah sees a chance to help Sophia out of a difficult situation with her ex, he announces that they are engaged. From the start of this “fake” engagement, it is clear that there are real feelings involved. Although they are both worried about how this might affect their friendship, future, and careers, they cannot seem to fight the attraction.
Reformed is a Book with in the Chance Brother series, and can be read as a stand alone (I did) however the MCs from previous book make an appearance.
This book follows Sophia who has been a publicist for Noah Chance band for years, end up in a fake engagement after a painful break and very public break up from Sophia ex-fiancé (a billionaire tech entrepreneur).
There wasn’t much of a build up as they both like each other from the start and the conflict that was present was solved quickly. However I found the book to be a nice palette cleanser and a nice and easy read and loved the characters.
Tropes include Fake Engagement Friends to lovers Rockstar Workplace Cinnamon Role MCs
Release Date: 28th August 2025
Thank you NetGalley and Victory Editing for the ARC
Sophia Hernandez has known rockstar Noah Chance for a long time and has been his band’s PR Strategist for many years. Sophia had been engaged to a controlling, demanding billionaire, Adrian Trent, and went through a nasty break up with him when he revealed his unpleasant side. When he comes back and very publicly tries to convince her he wants her to return to him, including the addition of threats in case public humiliation doesn’t work, Noah catches on immediately and makes it known that he and Sophia are engaged. In actuality, both of them already have real feelings for each other that they have kept to themselves. To make their engagement announcement appear real, she moves in with Noah, making it even more difficult to hold back her feelings. Will the two of them finally realize what they mean to each other? Are they ready to make it real now?
Sophia walked into Noah's life and music career when he and his high school friends were playing local dive bars on weekends. She ripped apart their social media technique and declared herself -- in the simplest terms -- their publicist. Over the years, she and the band became a team, and she and Noah became friends. I loved the way the the two of them shared hopes, dreams, disappointments, and the destruction of their lives. I loved the way supported each other and came out on the other side still together and stronger than before, both individually and as the "more" that Noah always hoped they could be.
I received a free advance copy of this story from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to share my review.
Since this is book 5 in the series I went ahead and read the previous books since I like to start from the beginning since it gives you a better idea of the characters in the books and you feel more invested in the series. What I liked about this book is how not only do these 2 realize their true feelings for each other, albeit through an impulse proposal, but they also realize that they can still fulfill their life dreams and be a couple when it feels like an impossibility. This book like the previous books is filled with laughs, strong family ties (the brother's have an amazing bond) and close friends along with just enough tough experiences to draw you in and keep you reading until the end while looking forward to the next brother's story.
This is the first book from this series that I have read, I've probably missed a few things but I think I did well working out who was who and feeling a connection to the characters. I liked seeing how Sophia and Noah handled their evolving relationship, there were some areas of the story that I personally would have liked a bit more from, but putting that to one side, I really liked the respect they had for each other, that they knew what was important to them and that when fear, doubts and interference happened, they chose to stand strong and with support from those around them, face everything coming at them. I am voluntarily leaving this review after receiving an ARC from Hidden Gems.
GOODREADS GIVEAWAY WIN - Thank you, Nikki Kiley. I wasted too much time starting this book. In the beginning, life kept pulling me away. When I would get a snippet of time to start reading, I quickly realized I had jumped into the middle of some type of series and needed to catch up on the cast of characters. At the halfway point, the story quickly picked up for me. If all the Chance men are as likable as their rock star brother, I need to start diving into the other four books. Sophia is the perfect match of goodness for her guitar-playing contractor man. Kiley keeps the plot moving and makes her characters everyday heroes who fight for and win at life and love.
⭐️ 3.5/5 This was everything I look for in a romance, but it dragged before we reached the main part of the plot. Some moments felt stretched out longer than necessary, which slowed the pacing. That said, there’s definitely more good than bad here. The male main character is one of the best I’ve read in a while—his main goal is helping the female main character become the truest version of herself, especially after everything she’s been through. That made the romance so freaking cute, and once they finally get together, their interactions are absolutely beautiful. thank you Netgallery for the advanced readers copy.
Sweet story, but it took a lot to get there. I found myself really struggling to connect to the story for the first half. Then, I would get invested for a few chapters, only to lost interest again.
I enjoyed Sophia, even though she was thrown just about every terrible situation you can think of. Noah didn’t seem to have any internal monologue that wasn’t Sophia, or his band.
I have not read any of the previous books in the series. The story is a stand alone, but there is a large group of supporting characters from the previous books that got confusing. I decided to just roll with it.
3.5 Stars Having not previously read the other books in the series, this book was a great standalone. Although it started a little slow, as the fake relationship started, so did the enjoyment of the book. There are lots of twists that could stop any progress they make as a couple; every good romance needs their HEA. I recommend reading if you are looking for something to take your mind away from the real world for a bit and not wanting to get into anything too deep. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
While this book is part of a series about the Chance Brothers, which all I haven’t read previously. I had no problem following along with this one. So definitely can be read as a standalone. Sophia is the PR rep for Noah’s up and coming band. She is motive to further her career after getting out of a terrible relationship. They both feel the sparks but are in denial or afraid to speak out. While there wasn’t a lot of drama in this book, I didn’t find the story dragging or uninteresting. Overall I truly enjoyed this one and it held my attention until the end.
Sophia has been the PR of Noah’s rock band. After recent breakup, Sophia is trying to rebuild her career and trying to not give in to her feelings for Noah. Harboring a crush since the first time he met her, Noah is ready to try to win her heart. When Sophia’s ex shows up unexpectedly, Noah swoops in and voila, they are engaged. The story is filled with great characters, fake engagement, undeniable chemistry, steamy hot scenes and so much more. Loved it! I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy.
I liked that Noah and Sofia finally got a chance to explore their feelings which both had kept hidden over the years for various reasons. I liked that Noah stepped up to help and protect Sofia whilst still recognising and acknowledging her independence and career. Both are facing challenges in their careers but I liked that Noah and his band recognised what they did not want as much as what they did want. Very enjoyable.
Reformed is a rockstar, friends-to-lovers romance with a fun fake-dating twist. Sophia, a PR rep fresh off a breakup, finds herself saved by Noah—the lead singer of the band she represents—when her ex shows up in Vegas. Cue a fake engagement, plenty of drama, and some fantastic side characters that bring extra charm to the story. This was my first book by this author, and I really enjoyed it—I’ll definitely be picking up more from them!
