Billionaire Brits #2

Dare to Love Me

Rate this book
Edward Cavendish is the embodiment of British elite—composed, controlled, and permanently unimpressed.
Born into old money and even older expectations, he carries the weight of generations of stiff-upper-lip tradition and emotional repression.

A world-renowned surgeon.
A ruthless perfectionist.
A man who does not tolerate chaos.

Which is unfortunate.
Because I am chaos.

He grew up in a sprawling 120-room manor with chandeliers in every hallway and bidets in every bathroom.
I grew up in the staff quarters, peeking through the hedges at his world.

He has every reason to frown disapprovingly at me. And trust me—he does. A lot.
I’m his little sister’s best friend—the bad influence.
I had a disastrous fling with his younger brother.
His ice-queen mother loathes me.
My mum scrubs her floors.
I sell gardening tools on a late-night shopping channel… in a pleated miniskirt, no less.
We’re opposites in every way that matters.
He’s Savile Row; I’m thrift-store chic.
He’s vintage champagne; I’m corner-shop wine in a can. And honestly? I’m not even mad about it.

And now, thanks to an unfortunate turn of events, the most intimidating man in Britain has caught me in his bed.
Uninvited.
In a situation that’s… let’s call it compromising.

This isn’t just a disaster.
This is the disaster.

I hated every character In this book I’m not even joking. The heroine was so childish oh my god?????? Like I was CRINGING so hard the whole time , and there was no character development?????? I was waiting for her to grow a little????????
The hero was an entitled judgmental jerk. I didn’t believe their romance ? Their fights and breakups were because of how different and incompatible they were but even after the book ended they haven’t solved that?? The heroine is still immature and the hero is still an asshole???

He treats her like his dirty side piece and he’s mad when she’s upset????? What the hell do you expect your girlfriend to react when she sees you with another woman hanging off you in an event she clearly asks you about??? Fucker! He says he doesn’t want to tie her down because they’re different but all I see is that he’s embarrassed of her. My heart breaks for Daisy in that ball scene chapter and Edward that coward goes no contact for two weeks?!?! THE FUCK

Daisy deserves so, so, so fucking much better than the nasty Cavendishes siblings 🖕🏼

I should have known better than to believe all these glowing arc reviews 😪

They should’ve never been together🫤. The whole book just talked about their differences but there was literally nothing they had in common. And he did not grovel enough for when he treated her like he was embarrassed to be seen with her💀.

1. So, the h had $ex with both the H’s brother and his nephew? 🤮🤮🤮
2. The author was trying to make Daisy and Edward as opposite as possible and in the process, made Daisy into a crude, foul mouthed, bumbling clown, embarrassing herself everywhere she went.
3. This book was a rage read. Edward treated Daisy like trash, just like his brother did. In fact, it was worse because Edward knew how badly Charlie had hurt and humiliated her. Edward treated her like a dirty little secret, only seeing her at his apartment or out of the way restaurants, not letting her meet any of his friends, introducing her as his “niece” when they ran into a colleague, lying to her so that he didn’t have to take her to the ball and taking a “suitable” date instead. Then, when she caught him in his lie and made a scene, he walked out on her, cut her off and refused to “humiliate” himself by “dropping to his knees and groveling” because she “had a tantrum”. Then, he patted himself on the back for staying out of her life so that he wouldn’t “hold her back”. Even when he found out that Daisy had been admitted to the ER for dehydration and exhaustion, he did NOTHING. He only went after Daisy because Sophia asked him to bring her back for the wedding.

This was a cross between a TEMU Susie Tate and a budget Bridget Jones.

For starters, the first time the H and h see each other in the book is when his nephew is giving the h bad oral. Yeah...that's a no for me when one character sees another having sex with someone else. Not to mention that means she has sex with at least three of the relatively current males in his uppity family.

The heroine is a victim of the hierarchal social structure in England, but can't seem to get it through her head. It doesn't help that when she's upset she turns into a petulant Real Housewives shrew.

The H's brother treated her like a shameful booty call.

Rosa has done it again. She truly is the queen of billionaire romance. I absolutely inhaled this story and LOVED it. Dare I say it, it’s my favourite of hers so far. I’ve read this entire book with a smile on my face 🙏🏻.

Not many books make me laugh but Rosa’s always have me giggling or cackling out loud. The humour and banter and wit in this book is 10/10. Honestly, you will be hiding behind your hands and cringing whilst simultaneously grinning at the hilarious moments.

Daisy, the FC, is my favourite character Rosa has written so far. She’s so relatable, warm, quick witted and fiery. Her comebacks are top tier and the interactions between her and the aristocratic characters had me rolling. She reminds me of Bridget Jones and I definitely envisaged a brunette version when reading.

Edward Cavendish - our FC - is utterly delectable. There’s a delicious age gap of 26-39 at play and he’s a tall, dark (with grey peppering) and handsome surgeon with a heart of gold. Need I say more?

The spice is exquisite as always - Rosa truly writes my favourite 🌶️ scenes. Edward will make you feel all the things, I promise 😮‍💨. There’s something so special about an MC who is extra buttoned up in life but the total opposite after dark 👀.

Thank you, Rosa, for the opportunity to read this ARC ahead of release ❤️

Rosa has hit the mark with this book, she is becoming one of my top billionaire writers where the second a book is out I will drop everything to read it, this book is no different and I might just say Edward & Daisy are my favourite couple and favourite book of hers 🫦

The banter within this book is everything! Daisy internal monologue is literally gold. Chapter 4! Oh. My. God. I couldn’t stop laughing. This book had me laughing and I mean a cackling laugh, it had me giggling like a school and crying like a crazy person. The humour, wit and banter within this book is top notch, 10/10, gold star worthy.

Edward is just amazing, with an age gap of 13 years (she’s 26 he’s 39) he’s a billionaire, super surgeon, tall dark and handsome, who’s a widower. He has a heart of gold and even though they have a troubled moment, he’s corrects it in the most hilarious and beautiful way.

Daisy our FMC has a fiery personality, super quick witted, warm and I personally relate to her so much. Shes our telly sales girl, who gives those upper class aristocrats top tier comebacks and has the funniest interactions with them. She is 100% my favourite FC Rosa has written.

Top tier, 100% worth the read, I inhaled this book, and probably will with any more to come. I read this book in less than a day, with sleep included and being a mum of 2, I didn’t want to put it down. 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝟐𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓

Silly, funny, frustrating, beautiful, spicy, and just perfect. Multiple trophies, best friends brother, ex’s brother, enemies to lovers, grumpy sunshine- all my favourites in one.
A modern day Pride and prejudice was my first thought and boy was I right. Mr Darcy for the win!!! 🥇 this book was more then a typical billionaire romance!

I wanted to give it 4,5 stars because of the female character, she bugged me a bit in the beginning but somewhere after 150 or so pages I was hooked. So closer to 5 then 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This one is sticking with me for a while.
And oh, the spice 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Rosa, you did it again ❤️
Thank you for making me an ARC -my first one 🙏🏼

Rosa Lucas, not gonna lie, you're characters are some of my all time favourite book boyfriends *insert dreamy heart eyes*
Did I devour this book in a day? Yep. Am I mad about it? Yep. I need more!
Edward and Daisy seem to be almost polar opposites, but still have some intense chemistry that neither one can ignore.
Daisy is such a wild and entertaining character, you can't not fall in love with her. And Edward....added to a long list of book boyfriends ♡
I always love a girl who gets back at her scumbag ex by getting with the hotter, nicer and yummier older brother.
Honestly, I might be re reading this one fairly soon!!

Happy-end garantat!🦋

sweet and funny read that gives off serious Grey’s Anatomy vibes—think a grumpy McDreamy and a delightfully wild Crazy Daisy. While the romance and humor hit the mark, there were quite a few overly childish moments that pulled me out of the story at times.

𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐲 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐬𝐨𝐧 is a total hot mess. She reminds me of the iconic Bridget Jones with her good-hearted intentions always leading her into the worst predicaments. Like the time she got caught in a compromising situation by her best friend's older brother, only to realize she was actually with his much younger nephew.

𝐄𝐝𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐡 has known Daisy since she was a kid, growing up alongside his younger sister. They come from completely different worlds. He’s British Elite and she’s not. Now Daisy has blossomed into a stunning woman who turns heads wherever she goes, including Edward's. As a widower, he's hesitant to pursue someone so much younger, but Daisy occupies his every thought. The feeling is mutual, as Daisy finds herself drawn to him as well.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 story centers around a wedding, with Daisy as the maid of honor. She definitely steals the show as a quirky lovable character in need of more self-confidence. Edward is the perfect gentleman, but their lack of communication about their feelings and expectations is their downfall. Despite their differences and misunderstandings, Daisy and Edward complement each other perfectly, filling the void in each other's lives. They seem to be a perfect match.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 novel is so engaging and difficult to put down. If you enjoy family drama and age-gap romance, this book is a must-read!

Thank you to 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐚 𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐬 for providing me with an ebook copy for review. All opinions expressed here are my own.

I have really mixed feelings about this book. First off, it’s got a major Bridget Jones vibe, which I very much liked. He’s upper class, she is not, he is a serious, respectable professional that tries to remain aloof and closed off and she flies by the seat of her pants, has no filter and always ends up in awkward, clumsy situations. And I could almost guess what their arguments would sound like before they even happened. That being said, this was the first book I’ve ever read in the romance genre where I started to think that they just weren’t meant to be together. I almost got the feeling that most of Daisy’s attraction for Edward was rooted in the fact that she saw herself unworthy of him and just could not believe he wanted her. Daisy’s near constant stream of self sabotaging thoughts made me want to skip paragraphs. And her means of coping with stress was always to drink as much alcohol as possible; she never faced any insecurity head on by having a heart to heart with anyone in her life. Edward wasn’t much better. Funny how he felt apologetic for the way his younger brother had used Daisy, and then did the same himself. He was oblivious to anything outside of his own needs, yet always cognizant of societal expectations even when lecturing Daisy that it didn’t matter what anyone thought. Overall it was an engaging read, but often times because it was a bit of a train wreck. And the scene Edward walks in on at the start? Such a turn off for Edward to witness that.

Rosa is one of my favourite Rich Boi writers - it’s always fun and I usually enjoy the sarcastic back and forth between MCs. This was in line with her other work stylistically and there was a definite Bridget Jones vibe here which was amusing. The opening chapter did have me laughing.

I have to be honest though and say that, overall, this probably wasn’t my favourite. It’s one of the first times I’ve felt like maybe the MCs just *shouldn’t* be together. There are major compatibility issues that were never countered with opposing inner monologues and there were no side characters rooting for them. In fact, literally nobody was rooting for them (except for her Mum during about four lines of dialogue).

It just felt like she deserved someone better. Someone who was happy to claim her publicly well before the final 10%. And Dr Cavendish? Well, he should probably have just pursued Lucia. 🤷🏼‍♀️

A nice, easy read regardless. And I will always be here for whatever Rosa Lucas puts out. She’s miles beyond most romance authors in this genre.

If you recently read my review of Loathe to Love Him, you will know why I had to immediately deep dive into Book 2 and it was even better than I thought it would be.

Daisy, a free spirit who embraces her sexual side, finds herself in a compromising position… unknowingly in her ex’s older brother’s bedroom… with her date… who happens to be his catfishing nephew. Yes, you read that right and my god Daisy’s inner commentary of it all will have you in stitches.

Edward, the widower, a world renowned surgeon and perfectionist, can’t wipe his brain of the image he saw of Daisy sprawled across his bed and he finds himself obsessing over her, even with all her chaos. Good thing they have to spend a boat load of time together during wedding festivities for his sister, who also is Daisy’s best friend. I mean come on! The peeping Tom scene in the tents?! Who can blame a girl 🥵

There were so many moments in this book that had me hysterically laughing. These two are complete opposites in every way. It was giving Mr Darcy-Pride and Prejudice (one of my absolutely fav movies) and I just couldn’t help but swoon over Eddie. The man is dominant, sexy and oh so sweet. What’s not to love?!

Sigh… I just adore a HEA.

Obviously inspired by Bridget Jones Diary. The FMC's has Bridget's messy chaotic bimbo-esque personality, the MMC is Mr. Darcy, a starchy doctor from one of the best families in the UK. He has gobs of money, she has the graveyard shift at the local shopping network hawking weird tchotchkes and tools in a mini skirt. She's also his brother's ex, his sister's bestie and her mom has worked as a housekeeper for his family her entire life. In short, this whole set up is total MESS and I was there for it.

This one took a minute to get going for me because the beginning kind of dragged. I found the MMC delicious and even though I don't care for widowed MMCs, I liked the way his grief was handled. I found the FMC a little frustrating and really wanted her to grow a little by the end and she really didn't. I also needed some groveling and I felt the MMC got away with his nonsense too lightly. Overall, I liked the author's voice and humor. I'm definitely going to read more from her.

Tropes:
Starchy/Sunshine
Class Difference
Age Gap

CW: some mentions of cancer and grief.

Huge fan of Rosa's. Being a Londoner i love the words, the accent i hear when reading it and just the familiarity of it all. Another hit for me, love, spice, romance and a sprinkle of third act break up scene with a heartfelt sorry and declaration of love. Dont get me wrong, the characters at times were ridiculous, but isnt that what makes us human? Aren't we all a bit ridiculous sometimes? love it, highly recommend.

Loved the storyline/ plot. Hated Daisy for how immature she was. I also hated how the MMC basically used her like Charlie did but she still went back to him! He said she was his NIECE!!!! Like commmoooonnnn!! Again, immaturity on her part (for jumping right back into his arms) but boo on MMC for being an ass. Butttt I liked the storyline 🤪

Let me first say, I didn't read this entire thing, I kept getting targeted adds on IG and I finally caved but I went straight to the parts that kept advertising because it already gave off "this wont be good vibes". Asshole Surgeon, Rich Family, Daughter of one of their staff maids, best friends with the sister of the rich family, dated one brother in secret then dates the other - everyone is an asshole, its all bullshit and they still end up together. I read the last 100 pages, after skimming through the first part, just getting to wear the "good" starts but it wasn't good. The characters sucked, all of them, even our FMC wasn't likeable, none of the characters were. This might not be a fair review since I didn't read every last word in this book, but I read enough to know this isn't for me, and I like a lot of not so good stuff LOL I am usually easy to please, but this one, was a no go for me.

I saw this book on TikTok. The storyline is really good.
BUT! I couldn’t stand the main character, Daisy. I wanted to reach into the book and shake her few times to act her age.
She’s 26, but acted like a horny adolescent. She had a secret relationship with the MMC’s brother few years back, almost slept with his nephew in the MMC’s bed (and he saw her)(that should have put her in the NEVER EVER) and drinks uncontrollably when she’s in an awkward/uncomfortable situation (which happens a lot in this book).
He’s a big shot surgeon (age 39), comes from British royalty who we all know have to abide by certain rules or image. Something Daisy should well be aware of since she is the housekeeper’s daughter.

He enjoys her carefree attitude and bubbly personality- but there’s nothing common between them. There’s no conversation. The whole point of the book is opposite attract- but I don’t feel the love. Just see Lust.

On TikTok I saw the part where he told everyone he’s single and will not be brining a date to his sister’s wedding (Daisy is the maid of honor) and he hurts her feelings- makes her feel inadequate. I wanted him to grovel.
What happened? She got shitfaced drunk, acted silly/crazy at a club, woke up embarrassed and THEN messaged him the next morning apologizing for her behavior. And he was blaming HER for his inattention during surgery. He hurt her deeply, did not acknowledge their relationship- she handled it like she usually does by drinking nonstop. And she ended up apologizing for her behavior. Wtf?!

The author could have given them a deeper connection.
The timeline and story are good, the characters not so much.

I’m going to give the author another chance and read another book because I liked the way she writes.

Edward and Daisy are very much opposites, as opposite as you can get, Sophisticated Surgeon vs Brit-shop TV host, her best friend’s brother and the eldest of the Cavendish Brothers. So when a blunder of a date and his little sisters wedding throws them together, they have to navigate the integration of a well put together time schedule and a need to be accepted alongside a dash of chaos.

I always know that Rosa’s books are going to make me smile, giggle and get flustered but this book made my cheeks hurt from smiling. If you haven’t already; pick up a Rosa Lucas book; i can always rely on them to boost my mood ☀️

ARC review

I've read all of Rosa's books and even when one doesn't particularly work for me, there is still so much to enjoy. This was the case with "Dare to Love Me". I'm nearly always rooting for the couple in a book and sometimes with Daisy and Edward, I preferred them separately. I genuinely laughed out loud at some of their escapades.
The ending charmed me and was further proof that I'd rather read a Rosa Lucas book, than most other authors in the genre. I can't wait for the next one!

Dare to Love Me by Rosa Lucas had me absolutely feral for a cold, emotionally repressed British man, again.

Edward Cavendish is a widowed surgeon who’s as rigid as the starched shirts he definitely owns. He’s also my new favorite disaster. Meanwhile, Daisy is pure chaos: loud, unfiltered, emotionally honest, and selling gardening tools on late-night TV in a pleated miniskirt. I adored her.

Here’s the catch: she’s his little sister’s best friend. And his younger brother’s ex. The tension? UNREAL. The judgmental glares? Frequent. The slow burn? Painfully good.

Their dynamic is messy, forbidden, and laced with grief, guilt, and that delicious “we shouldn’t, but we’re going to anyway” energy. Daisy was a force in every scene, and watching Edward quietly fall apart over her? That’s the kind of romance I live for.

Also, I’m not kidding, I walked around calling people cads for two days after reading this. So thanks for that, Rosa.

What I loved:
✨ Best friend’s older brother + ex’s brother
✨ Grumpy widower x chaotic sunshine
✨ Upstairs/downstairs tension
✨ Emotional repression, handled
✨ The slowest of slow burns
✨ Daisy just… being Daisy 💅

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🔥 Forbidden & messy
🔥 Grief, class tension, and longing
🔥 British drama with heart
🔥 HEA
