Beneath His Hate

Rate this book
Hate turns addictive, and the deeper they fall, the harder it is to tell revenge from desire.

Aubrey

I made a mistake. A cruel, unforgivable mistake. I thought it was harmless. But I didn’t realize it would destroy his life.

Now, years later, I’ve transferred to a new university, ready to chase my dreams.

Except he’s here. And he hasn’t forgotten.

He wants to humiliate me, break me the way I broke him. He wants to own me.

His father has given me the opportunity of a lifetime, and taking it means being close to him—and his cruel, twisted games.

But the more I fight him, the more I realize that beneath his hatred is something else.

Something I shouldn’t want. And yet, I do.

Milo

I hate Aubrey Summers. With every breath in my body, I hate her.

She ruined me in high school. Left scars that will never fade.

But I survived.

And now, it’s my turn to make her suffer. To drag her through the same torment she put me through.

I want her desperate. I want her begging.

But this little push and pull game of revenge turns into something more. Because the more I push her, the more she pushes back.

And the harder it becomes to tell hate from burning, forbidden desire.

*Beneath His Hate is a dark college enemies to lovers romance with both MF and MMF scenes. It contains explicit language, toxic behavior, sexual content, and other elements some may find triggering. It is intended for an audience of 18+.

Addictive. Putting this book down was nearly impossible. I’d been waiting for Beneath His Hate with ridiculously high expectations, because I loved Blades of Obsession. But this? This went even further. It hooked me from the dedication and just kept getting better.

I honestly can’t pick one single thing that stood out the most, because everything did. The story was written so well (I could’ve read a thousand pages of it and still not had enough).

I fell in love with the characters instantly. Milo had me from the very first moment — there was just something about him that was… irresistible. Aubrey proved to be an amazing FMC who isn’t afraid to stand up for herself when needed, but also knows how to submit when it’s the right moment (also the first switch FMC I’ve ever read - and I need MORE of those!).
And Ronan… he may not be the main character, but he’s insanely lovable and I honestly can’t imagine the book without him. Their dynamic was unreal, and the character development made me so damn proud of them.

And the spicy scenes? Yeah… you want to be at home and alone for those. Easily some of the best I’ve read this year, and yes - I marked them for future rereads (they’re THAT good).

To sum it up: Sierra Sky has won me over all over again. Now I’m impatiently waiting for whatever she writes next, because it can’t come soon enough.🖤

milo, ronan and aubrey 😩 i love them all so much. i really wish we got ronan’s POV, it was a bit harder to connect with him without that aspect, but i still loved him nonetheless!

this book was a RIDE. every chapter had me on the edge of my seat waiting for the other shoe to drop and when they did? YIKES. i didn’t expect one of the plot twists and it actually made me gasp out loud because what do you mean?😀

aubrey is such a badass fmc and i absolutely adore her. even after everything she’s gone through, she still doesn’t let anybody walk all over her and i absolutely loved it. her in chapter 46 😮‍💨 HOT.

milo and ronan’s dynamic shocked me at first, but after learning a little about what milo went through it made complete sense and they’re perfect, i’ll take no arguments.

thank you so much for the arc, i absolutely love your work and cannot wait to read more by you!! 🖤

This was such a good read! I devoured this book in under two days.

This romance was *dark* and steamy with a storyline that took a few unexpected turns.

I can’t wait to read more from this author!

Ugh this booooooook. I enjoyed it so much. It was such a easy read, and i felt myself not wanting to put it down.

Milo was so beautifully broken, so when he stumbles upon his childhood school bully, he makes it his mission to make her pay. But what started as payback, slowly morphs into obsession.

Milo, Ronan & Aubrey have this perfect little thing going on, you cant help but love them all the more for it. Ronan & Aubrey are both weak to Milo, but their dynamic works. Now Milo will never allow anyone to touch Aubrey, except Ronan, he is the exception, and him only. The way Milo has Aubrey & Ronan on their knees for him is everything. Always eager to please, but Auvreys offers him that brat side of herself Milo loves!

A really great read, loved it sm.

ARC Reader Review

In the book world there aren’t a ton of books featuring a prominent degradation kink, so naturally I was excited by the teasers for Beneath His Hate. I am also a fan of Sierra Sky, so any release of hers is automatically on my TBR.

Without giving away too many spoilers (warning, there are a few), I will say this book is a good read, but maybe not as amazing as the teasers hype.

Rest assured, there is plenty of drama and excitement from cover to cover. My critique is that there are some missing elements related to Milo and Aubrey’s story. Important developments are shared with the readers that lay the foundation for their ‘enemies’ relationship dynamic, but they don’t actually unfold later in the book.
Milo never finds out that Aubrey was in love with Milo in high school and that she faces pressure from her mother expectations, resulting in how she treats him in high school. I wanted to see this unfold.

Similarly, the overall development of the throuple relationship was choppy throughout. Many times there were scenes that abruptly happened without a build-up in dynamic. Almost as though you are time traveling to specific scenes with the knowledge that much of the growth of their relationship happens off-page.

The feeling of being bounced around continues with the overarching character of Milo’s father. His need to use Aubrey to achieve his goals never materializes as a catalyst in the end. Because of this it feels like an unnecessary subplot.

I have similar feelings around Aubrey’s family’s wealth and status. It’s a theme that shapes the high school relationship between the MMC and FMC and continues throughout yet flip flops when convenient for the narrative in ways that don’t fit.

I also can’t reconcile the relationship between Milo and his father. The beginning of the book purposely conveys a disconnected and uninterested parent, yet the rest of the book Milo’s father suddenly has a power hold on his son, enough to force unwanted decisions on Milo. As a reader you can tell when a story is made to fit the characters or when the characters are forced to fit a plot. This dynamic felt like the latter.

Milo’s brother was introduced briefly—unnecessarily so as this characters role in the storyline is completely superfluous.

The ending felt a bit rushed, with new plot twists arriving in the last fifteen pages. Without time to develop the writer closes the arc but without any context as to how. This has to do with Aubrey’s mother, Milo’s mother, and the business enterprise. I would’ve preferred less side-car plot twists and a more developed main plot. Just my opinion.

Now onto the 🌶️— there is 100% a consistent theme of degradation and consistency in the characters and their relationship to kink. Maybe that consistency is why it’s my favorite part? Hard to say, but if you enjoy reading dark romance books of this genre then it’s a read you won’t want to skip.

Overall, a very solid average book. More cohesive development and less unnecessary context without being additive to the main story and this would be 5 ⭐️.

*I thank the author for giving me an ARC of this book*♡♡♡

Some of my favorite quotes:

"My world is burning, and she lit the match."

"My jaw tightens. So does my fist, curling like it knows the shape of her throat."

"Worship her pet. Don't stop until I say so."

"I'm the monster she created, and it's time she met him properly."

"Pain is the only thing that ever understands me."

"Hate how her name tastes like salvation and damnation at the same time."

"You Aubrey Summers are mine. Every breath, every scream, every drop of surrender. Mine."

"Beneath his hate I found the only thing more dangerous than him. Us."

So, this was a fun quick read. The pacing was a little odd at times. There would be an entirely different scene change in the middle of a chapter and I had to go back and reread a few paragraphs to be sure there wasn't something that I just missed. I think creating new chapters for these scene changes would have made more sense.

There were some things that lacked context and explanation:

♡ No one other than maybe Aubrey thought it was really weird that all these girls were going missing?

♡ Lillian's character was not explained too much. I thought there would have been more about her considering her very own dad is a murderer, and then finding out he's a murderer and how she felt about that.

♡ Milo never found out that Aubrey has loved him since high-school. I wish this was touched on a bit.

♡ A character that was pretty consistent throughout the story, was apparently Milo's brother, which we didn't find that out until the last few chapters. That seemed like it was kind of thrown on there to give an excuse as to why this guy was at the family party. It didn't really do anything for the plot.

♡ Pairing Aubrey's mom and Milo's dad together at the end seemed a little out of left field.

All of that being said, I was entertained reading this. I liked the throuple thing going on. I do wish the spicy scenes were more descriptive, I'd give them maybe a 🌶🌶🌶 /5 (but I also just finished Den of Vipers, so maybe that's not fair). I really liked all the protagonists. Apparently I love sick, sadistic men cos Milo had my heart from the start (the disrespectful, womanizing man that he is). Aubrey was sassy and smart. Ronan was soft spoken and adorable. Like I said earlier, I wish Lillian had a bigger role, I really liked her. She was ride or die. Anyways, maybe this entire review is a whole lot of nothing? 😅

ARC Review 🫦

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A painfully addictive, slow-burn train wreck you cannot look away from.
Beneath His Hate sinks its claws in from page one and refuses to let go. Aubrey and Milo are the kind of beautifully broken, morally gray disasters you know are going to ruin each other... and you still cheer for it. Their history is steeped in betrayal, humiliation, and wounds that never really healed-and watching those old scars split open is thrilling in the worst (best) way.
Aubrey arrives at her new university ready to rebuild, but fate clearly said "absolutely not." Milo is waiting, older, colder, sharper... and he wants her world to burn like he thinks she burned his. Their push-and-pull is downright intoxicating. Every confrontation feels like a lit match held to gasoline-dangerous, charged, irresistible.
What I loved most is that the story doesn't shy away from the ugliness. Milo's obsession is vicious. Aubrey's guilt is heavy. Their dynamic is messy and unhinged-but beneath all that anger is a spark neither of them know how to tame. That slow shift from hate to hunger? Chef's kiss. It's palpable. It's forbidden. It's that deliciously toxic flavor dark romance readers crave.
By the time the revenge starts blending with desire, you're already in too deep, rooting for the very thing you know is going to hurt.

🔥If you like:
enemies to lovers with teeth twisted campus vibes,
revenge plots gone off the rails obsessive, unhinged Mf energy, a heroine who refuses to stay down —then this book is about to be your next obsession.

A dark, addictive ride from start to finish. I devoured it.

Here we follow Aubrey, she was a bully in high school and is now trying to figure out how to get out from under her mother but trauma is hard to escape from. When she gets into a university on scholarship she thinks this is her big break until she sees HIM.

Enter Milo the tortured soul, the one Aubrey bullied, his life was ruined because of her. The things he went through changed him completely and he will do whatever it takes to get revenge.

Insert Ronan the submissive beast, on first sight he’s everything Aubrey likes in a guy but he’s loyal to a fault to one guy. But it doesn’t mean they can’t have their fun too.

There are some things in wish were touched more on. Like Aubrey’s feelings for Milo in high school and why she was bullying him.

Also did Aubrey earn forgiveness? Did I miss that?

And last I wish he had more Ronan pov!!

Favorite quotes

There’s a fine line between stalking and… strategic observation. One involves a knife, a ski mask, and probably a restraining order. The other involves sitting under the bleachers at a college gymnastics practice, minding your own business while gathering intel on your high school bully.

“Don’t you know you should never run from a monster? He might get off on it.”

My little pet. Mine to ruin. Mine to own. I’m the monster she created, and it’s time she met him properly.

Aubrey transferees to a new university, ready to chase her dreams. Except Milo is there. And he hasn’t forgotten. He wants to humiliate her, break her the way she broke him. He wants to own her. Back in high school, Aubrey bullied Milo to the point where she broke him, for him to be sent to a reform school, only it wasn’t a reformed school, it was a place that broke him more and made him into the cold hearted man he is now.

Forced to fake date Milo, Milo promises himself that he will destroy her just like she did him. But what he wasn’t expecting was the fall in love with her all over again. “Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer” and this is what Milo does, he keeps Aubrey so close that she can’t breathe without him knowing.

Back in high school both Milo and Aubrey had falling in love with each other but didn’t tell one other. Aubrey bullied him and Milo took out the pain of everything on himself. Where he became accustomed to pain.

I loved the way she bent for Milo, doing what he told her to. The way he allowed Ronan to touch her and wasn’t scared to show her that side of himself.

I wish we got Ronan pov a little more. I would have loved his side of them sharing each other and the way he felt when Aubrey joined them.

I was so excited to start this enemies to lovers book & it definitely didn't disappoint! It's dark, steamy & suspenseful & once you start you will find it hard to put down until the last page! This book is childhood (teenage) enemies to lovers (adult) done beautifully!

The book's main characters (and primary relationship) are Aubrey, Milo & Ronan. Without giving too much of the story away, Aubrey is Milo's bully & he makes it his mission to make her pay. (Milo & Ronan are together already) Well that payback eventually turns into an obsession that becomes unshakable! The three of them together just work! Milo is the more dominant of the three & both Aubrey & Ronan are definitely submissive when it comes to Milo (although Aubrey does have many Brat tendencies 😉). I loved everything they each brought to the relationship & am always a sucker for degradation done right!!!

This was my first book by Sierra Sky & certainly won't be my last! I definitely recommend for those of you who don't want just another cute fluffy romance!

3/5 ⭐️ 3/5 🌶️

I thought it was an alright book. It is an attention grabber from the first page. Plot was alright but felt like something was missing. The sex scenes were hot as hell. I know it says it’s an MF and MMF romance but it seems more MMF scenes occurred. Milo, Aubrey and Ronan brought the heat in those steamy scenes.

The reasoning of why Aubrey was obsessed with bullying Milo back in HS wasn’t really answered. Also I kinda feel like Aubrey was more into Ronan than she was Milo, the chemistry between the two of them was more than her and Milo had even though Ronan was a side character since we only got his POV at the very end.
The twist of the Milo’s dad and Aubrey’s mom being college sweethearts was insanely weird to happen. So now they’re gonna be step siblings? Plus Milo’s dad murdering his mother because he wanted to have the luxury of women, damn.

And how are they killing all these people and getting away with it and nobody noticing?

Who’s Grim?

ARC review but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I liked the story overall but there were some questions left unanswered which is why it’s a 3.5 stars and not 4, and sometimes it felt like we were jumping through time too quick without it being clear. The sex scenes were hot and steamy, absolutely loved those!!

I wonder why he forgave her, there isn’t a clear reason for why and then them becoming enemies to lovers, she didn’t really do anything to deserve the forgiveness. I liked the characters though but I think maybe there is something missing for a deeper understanding of the characters. I would have liked to see more from his time at the reform school (flashbacks or memories), and also the same for her childhood being raised by her mother and how that has made her into who she is today. I think it would have had a more emotional impact

This book had everything I love.

Enemies to lovers. Secret love. Miscommunication (that one partially pisses me off LOL). Dom/Sub. Bully romance. Small why choose. Murder mystery. Social ladder collapse (nerdy bad boy YES PLS).

I love me a dominate man, but Milo is absolutely unhinged. At first, he was a complete dick. Which is a tad bit understandable. Then you find out why Aubrey was a bitch to him and then it is just sad.
Queen Bee Aubrey now knows what it feels like to be low on the totem pole. But she also learns what she licks and owns it.

Definitely a good read. And the spice.

I had a to take a few days after reading this to think about what I wanted to write in my review. I was hooked by this book and the story. I devoured this book and there was a lot about it that I really thought was done well. The book was fast paced and kept me interested. However, I could not give it above 3 stars due to some issues. There was a lack of attention to detail. Aubrey questioning "did he really break into my room?" when it wasn't even the first time that he had gotten in there. Little things like that throughout the book. It also felt like there were so many unanswered questions about the past. Why did she bully him? Why did he start to self-harm? Why did he decide to forgive her? Something is missing from the story. Then the ending sealed it for me. She never showed any violent tendencies but suddenly she had the ability to dish out justice like that. Would have been more plausible if Milo did it for her.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

Spice LVL🌶🌶🌶🌶

First off this was given to me as an ARC which is late due to I didn't see the email but here are my thoughts.

I loved how easy it was to read from start to finish. The push and pull cat and mouse game the two main characters Aubrey and Milo gave were amazing. Definitely love the enemies to lovers aspect and why choose with Ronan being thrown into the mix. It had a good story line however I feel like it jumped over bits and pieces of the story. Also feel like certain parts of the book could have used a little more details how they came about certain things. Overall I give the book a 3.5 with a VERY HEFTY 4 spice level

Just finished Beneath His Hate and wow… I need a minute. This book was a wild ride — dark, messy, and completely consuming. I told myself I’d read a few chapters, and suddenly it was 2am and I was just sitting there staring at my Kindle like, “??? What did I just read??”

Sierra Sky did not hold back. The tension, the hate, the consuming love, the cracks of heartbreak — it all hits. It’s an MF (with some MMF) dark romance that makes you feel things you probably shouldn’t, and yet you can’t stop loving every second of it. You want to hate some parts of characters, but you can’t. You want to look away, but you don’t.

If you like your romance dark, twisted, emotional, and a little bit cruel… yeah, this one’s going to live rent-free in your head for a while. 🖤

Well, that was a ride I was glad to get dragged along with.
I really enjoyed the characters and their story. Milo, Aubrey, and Ronan really have an unconventional relationship, and I'm here for it. Aubrey is a badass, Milo is a tortured soul but so lovable when you start to break through his walls. I do wish we got a little more of Ronan, though.
This read was dark, full of angst and tension. What started as a need for revenge turned into something they couldn't run from. As always, check those trigger warnings ⚠️; otherwise, this book is dark, spicy, and delicious 😋.

Ok you guys, my jaw was on the floor after the very first page. Talk about just jumping right into the darkness. Milo's story broke my heart but then I seen what it turned him into and I was like whoa! I love love love the way Aubrey discovered who she really was and the way she stood up for herself. There suspense and mystery aspect kept me on my toes, Milo had me anxious as hell because I didnt know what route he was going to take when it came to Aubrey. This was great and I look forward to reading more from this author.

This book has NO RIGHT being this dang good!

I’ve never read anything else by Sierra, but dang.

Aubrey, Ronan, and Milo are truly just so good together.

I tend to stick more to sports romance, and not read a bunch of dark romance, but I’m always so interested.

I liked the crime part as well. Thoroughly enjoyed Colton and Lily. Just overall enjoyed the characters and the story!

What an amazing ride this book was! Starting off, check those triggers because this one is dark and delicious! Aubrey has spent her whole life trying to get attention from her mother. Milo, the nerdy kid in school, was subjected to Aubreys wrath and bullying. Fast forward to college and the tables have turned.
The character development is perfection. The spice was spicy, and the plot kept me hooked the whole way through!

What happens when your high school bully shows up to the same college as you and tries to apologize? Our MMC Milo make her get on her knees and beg for forgiveness. Aubrey is in for a wild ride with Milo and his need for control and violence. Obsession and trauma drive these characters into new heights of depravity and carnal need. Let’s not forget how sweet Ronan loves being told what to do by his two handlers. Set on a college campus, you’ll learn a thing or two.

WOW! I was hooked from the very beginning I couldn't put it down; it was a roller coaster of emotions from the start - The angst and turmoil between Milo and Aubrey - Hate and the desire for revenge can drive you to do crazy things - but when the lines get blurred because she is everything he could ever ask for and more it leaves you rooting for Milo. Sweet baby Ronan is just the icing on the cake - I would have loved more of his POV.

SPOILER:

In the end, the ultimate revenge is Milo and Aubrey joining forces to take the real cause of their problems and I am not talking about Harper. I love G.R.I.T and everything it stands for and who it helps.

If you like Dark Romance and College / Elite / Secret Society vibes with a HEA then give Beneath His Hate a chance - just read the trigger warnings - They were heavy, but I feel that Sierra wrote them in a manner that was not over the top and didn't make my stomach turn.

Thank you for the opportunity to review this as an ARC!

This book was a nice surprise! The fmc starts out on a very bad note and I thought ‘how will she ever redeem herself’ but once you get her pov it all makes sense but my heart ached for Milo. The characters are well developed although I wish we’d gotten more Ronan, spice was hot and the mystery subplot was intriguing. Overall I really liked this book and you should def add it to your tbr!
