Brigador Killers: Pilgrim

Ana Mirante saw the brutality of the SNC first hand during the Long Night.

Never again.

Months later, Mirante and her crew arrive on the planet Mar Nosso, disguised as refugees.

Their the Brigadors who wrecked their homeworld and cashed out to live a life of SNC-sponsored luxury…

Their Pilgrim.

Meanwhile off-world, Zhe, a pariah commando of spacer Clade Vocc, sits restless between missions while his former blood-ally Aline Vocc entertains corpos on Mar Nosso as a Brigador celebrity.

The kill team leader is suspicious of the dirt eaters, but the Contract forbids any direct intervention by spacers on the ground…

Will Pilgrim’s tour of revenge succeed? Will Zhe fight alongside Aline once more? Or are they all pawns in more corporate games?
Brad Buckmaster continues the brutal action of Brigador in this direct sequel.

If you're a miserable and depressed person the Brigador books are high recommends. The slow creep of people fighting against war criminals becoming war criminals themselves, going to whatever means they can to get what ends up being petty revenge at best.

The action in this is truly incredible with some intense firefights. This captures the sheer horror and brutality of a gunfight in a way few other books can.

Grimest of the grimdark, not recommended for happy people, but I definitely hope Buckmaster makes more of these....well okay first I hope Buckmaster goes to therapy and pets his cats a bunch....then I hope he makes more.

Nasty, brutish, and short (in the best way)

This was a street fight of a book - the hits come quick, never stop, and leave you dazed by the end. The writing is utilitarian and tight, perfect for pace the book sets. The author clearly has military experience and he expertly leverages it in support of the story being told. The narration is excellent, elevating the experience beyond the already solid prose. If you like quick, violent trips through a few miles of moral ambiguity, you won't find a better ride than this one.

Didn't think the first novel could be topped. The third act alone is some of the darkest yet most compelling storytelling I've read all year. An absolute triumph of a book, I especially recommend the audio version because Ryan Cooper doesn't hold back at all
