Love You, Mean It

Rate this book
A story about found family and the power of acceptance, all wrapped up in a sizzling romance set in the frozen north.

My new landlord’s a real hard-ass. And I can’t keep my hands off him.

Charlie Huxley’s the best—and grumpiest—general contractor in Blushing, Alaska. He built the venue for the wedding-planning business my bestie and I share. After I accidentally flood my home, he offers me his guesthouse while he handles the repairs. But when he starts to take charge, I feel myself losing control.

Unable to resist, we casually hook up. We both know once will never be enough.

Between us, we carry plenty of baggage. I’ve got the absent father, drunk mother, and estranged sister. He grew up in foster care and is single-handedly raising a daughter whose mom visits just once a year.

But Charlie makes me feel like I belong. And for the first time ever, I picture myself with a real family.

Before I go all in, I need to learn to set some boundaries. Question Am I strong enough?

Laura Pavlov does such an incredible job with single-parent romance books. The kids are the absolute best, and I adore them. Love You, Mean It had the sweetest kid and not only an epic romance, but the best relationship between the hero’s daughter and the heroine.

Violet and Charlie are temporary neighbors while her house is getting completed, and they are a hoot. I wouldn’t quite call this enemies to lovers, but they had such fun back and forth and banter. Violet is a wedding planner, and Charlie is a contractor with a 7-year-old daughter.

Charlie’s daughter, Harper, and her relationship with Violet were my favorite part of the book. They had the sweetest relationship. Charlie was also a fantastic father. The romance was great, too, but honestly, it took a backseat to the family dynamic, and I wasn’t mad about that.

I’ve enjoyed this ‘Blushing’ series, and I love that it takes place in Alaska. So much fun! I’m hoping there are more to come in this series.

Love You, Mean It is the 2nd book in the Blushing series, this is a small town Alaska interconnected standalone series. I always have a great time with Laura Pavlov books and this one I enjoyed even more than the first in this series. This is a single dad, grumpy x sunshine, enemies to lovers, small town romance.

Violet and Charlie are very much in one another’s lives and they don’t exactly get alone. She’s currently living in his guest house while he’s renovating her home and they’re always arguing and bantering (in a fun flirty way). Charlie is also a single dad to his 6-year old daughter Harper and I loved their relationship so much, I’m always a sucker for a single dad romance and this one hit on all of those vibes. Violet’s relationship with Harper is so sweet to see as well. If you’ve read the first book in the series then you would have met the characters already, as Violet runs the wedding planning business Blushing Bride with her friend Montana (the heroine of book 1).

I liked seeing Violet and Charlie try to first fight their feelings and then them trying to see who would break first and admit they want to give in. What starts as a fling to get it out of their system of course turns into so much more. They both have complicated pasts (her with her family, him with his ex/the mother of his child) and I liked the found family this brought together. The last 30% or so got a little wild with her sister’s wedding, her reaction to a lawyer, and some other bits. But overall I enjoyed this one!

I received an ARC, all thoughts in this review are my own.

Oh this book was so sweet. It was a swoony, feel-good romance that wraps you up in warmth like a cozy blanket on a snowy Alaska day ❄️💖I adored the small-town charm, found family vibes, and emotional depth. Charlie and Violet's grumpy/sunshine chemistry was perfection — making me grin one second and melt the next. And Charlie as a devoted dad? Instant heart eyes 🥹

This story beautifully shows what it means to find your people and be loved for exactly who you are. Tender, funny, and full of heart.

5🌟, 3 🌶️

From the first page, “Love You, Mean It” pulls you into Blushing, Alaska, with charm, heat, and characters you’ll never forget.

This cozy small town has everything a romance should—found family, playful banter, and characters who feel completely real.

When Violet’s house floods, she ends up living in a grumpy single dad Charlie’s guest house. He’s all rugged edges and quiet loyalty, while she’s spirited, resilient, and full of fire. Their chemistry sparks instantly, and every time he calls her “Firefly,” my heart melted. Watching Violet grow close to Charlie’s daughter Harper—and the way Harper calls Violet her real mama—was both adorable and incredibly heartfelt, adding even more warmth to their story.

At its heart, this is a story about healing, trust, and discovering that love can truly feel like home. Both Charlie and Violet carry heavy pasts, but together they find hope, belonging, and a love that lasts.

It’s the kind of small-town romance that wraps around you like a hug—and one I simply didn’t want to end.

#LoveYouMeanIt — couldn’t be more true!

Another beautiful read from Laura Pavlov🥰. Thank you so much for this early copy, Valentine Pr and Laura.🤗

Violet and Charlie had some pretty intense bickering moments. They were always at each other's throat, making fun of one another with everything occasion they got. Because Violet had to stay in his guesthouse, after an incident destroyed her home, Charlie had to face Violet almost every day. That wasn't really something he liked because he was only keen on being a good dad to his little girl, Harper, not having time for some other nonsense. Being at the same time Violet's contractor for her renovating house and for the wedding she was working on, made Charlie even more affected and a bit grumpy. But could they deny the magnetic pull they had for each other even when they said that they put out the fire?

This books was such a relaxing one for me, having some really fun parts when Charlie and Violet were arguing🤭. It was pretty clear that there was something more there, feeling that tension between them, which was pretty obvious for everyone around them. There were some really cute moments between Violet and Charlie daughter, Harper, who got attached to her pretty fast, feeling like she was already part of the family. In a more sensitive side, we got to follow Violet and Charlie's complicated pasts, which kept on affecting them in the present as well - Violet was like a black sheep in her family and Charlie had to deal with Harper's mom, who was almost never present in her life but having the courage to dare to be seen as a good mom.

I really liked the mix of feelings this book offered and how well they blended. It was mostly super fun and cosy, but also offering some really heart-warming moments. It was super cute and it was nice to see the characters overcoming the things they struggled with.

#LoveYouMeanIt! Charlie and Violet are forced together in this enemies to lovers, small town romance set in Blushing, Alaska! When Violet’s house floods, she’s left with no choice than to move into her moody yet sexy contractor Charlie’s guest house. He comes with a whole lot of baggage and the cutest little kid in tow. As the two start to spend more and more time together, Violet starts to feel like part of their tight knit family. Boundaries are important so no one gets hurt, but sometimes the best moments come from pushing those boundaries.

I was so excited to be back in Blushing, Alaska! I love the small town and all the residents. Ever since we got a glimpse of Violet and Charlie in the first book, I knew their story would live up to the hype. I absolutely loved their banter, and all the ways Violet found to push Charlie’s buttons! Her constant renovation changes that caused Charlie to grunt more had me cracking up! Charlie’s daughter Harper was also super precious, and it was so sweet seeing her open up with Violet! I absolutely adored this one and I cannot wait to see where we go next! Book 2 in the Blushing series! Laura Pavlov never lets me down. I have loved this series so much & this book stole my heart.

Small town romance, single dad, forced proximity, and the best found family!

Charles Huxley! The man & dad he was! My whole heart was eating it up!! I fell instantly in love with Violet & her hard outer shell, but the soft & emotional side she kept tucked away. & Harper Huxley was the most hilarious, sweet, and smart little girl!

The banter and tension in this one had me laughing and swooning my way through this story. I loved the emotion & healing this one showed & the absolute love in the friend group. This one gave the best found family!! I love the little town of Blushing Alaska and this small town vibe.

The epilogue was the most beautiful part & had my eyes full of tears. My heart needed this book!

Thank you Valentine PR & Laura Pavlov for this early reading opportunity!!

And then we have Violet. I wanted to hug her all thoughout the book and it was beautiful to see her find her home with Charlie and Harper.

Swoon! Love You, Mean It by Laura Pavlov was a sweet and emotional small town romance that made me giddy from start to finish. I couldn’t get enough of Violet and Charlie’s enemies to lovers' energy mixed with all the witty banter that had me falling so damn hard for these two. Not to mention, Charlie’s daughter, Harper, was the cutest! I’m loving everything about Blushing, Alaska!

Erin Mallon and Connor Crais perform this audiobook in dual narration, and this pairing never lets me down. Erin’s expressive voice captured Violet’s fire, passion, and sass perfectly making you feel every single insecurity and desire. Connor’s warm, inviting tone encompassed Charlie’s dedication to his daughter and his newfound devotion to Violet. Both Erin and Connor did a fantastic job performing six year old Harper, and creating an addictive steamy tension between Violet and Charlie.

Overall, I LOVED this book. If you are a fan of a small town romance with a hot broody contractor, a feisty wedding planner, home renovations, guest houses, witty banter, an adorable six year old, Pinkalicious birthday pirates, condom dolls, mommy issues, dirty talk, steamy times, custody battles, groundhog problems, wedding hashtags, surprise lunch dates, demon slide mishaps, intimate conversations, love declarations, and a HEA that means the world, then you will love Violet and Charlie’s romance. I always look forward to more from Laura Pavlov.

This was so cute. Charlie, Vi and Harps were so precious together. I loved that Vi, Charlie and Harper had a stable support system in place. Thank you to valentine pr for this arc

This is the most beautifully sweet romance! A fun, heartfelt and chemistry-filled single-dad love story, it’s the small-town romance that Laura Pavlov writes so well and I loved this book!

This is the second book in the Blushing series. It’s the story of wedding planner, Violet, who is the best friend of Montana from You, Me, and Forever. There is some character crossover, but this book can easily standalone.

Violet’s house is being renovated, and she temporarily moves into her contractor, Charlie’s, guest house. They have a snarky, antagonistic relationship, and they bicker constantly, but Violet instantly bonds with Charlie’s seven-year-old daughter, Harper, and as she starts to become a part of their daily lives, things begin to change. Neither of them are interested in a relationship, but their wild chemistry results in sizzling sexy time, and though Violet is scared of any kind of emotional intimacy, Charlie is all straight-talking and no-nonsense, and their dynamic is so much fun.

“I looked at him and pushed myself up. “You want to talk while we cuddle before we have sex again?”
“Yes. And so do you. So stop being a stubborn ass and start talking.”

Their connection is easy and natural, and with Violet effortlessly slipping into Charlie and Violet’s family life, they quickly find themselves feeling more than they ever anticipated. The romance is honest and functional, there’s no game playing, and though they have a bit to figure out, it all feels so real, and I loved watching these two fall so hard for each other.

“I’m done holding back. I don’t want anyone else. I want you and only you.”

The family vibes in this book are just gorgeous. Both Violet and Charlie have the most beautiful relationships with little Violet, and I loved seeing so much of them together. The blend of romance, family, life drama and fun times with friends is so well balanced, and I was easily swept up and loved every moment of this one.

“Being with you is the first time I’ve ever felt like I fit somewhere. You make me feel like I’m home.”

This is a sweet and fluffy read that is fun, heartfelt, sexy and swoony and left me with a big smile on my face.

4.5 stars.

It was so good to be back in Blushing, Alaska. When I tell y'all I'm obsessed with this place!!!

Charlie and Violet have always had a back and forth bickering type of relationship. Violet ends up staying in his guesthouse while he's renovating her house. The forced proximity causes those sparks to fly! Charlie may be a grumpy man but underneath all that is a man who is protective of those he loves and he has a heart of gold. He's the best daddy to his little girl. I'm obsessed with him. Violet has some insecurities and tends to self sabotage but Charlie doesn't let her get away with that so easily. He's so understanding and patient with her. He replaces her insecurities by showing her she deserves to be loved.

The banter between these two was the best of the best!! The Elf on the Shelf situation seriously cracked me up!! So funny! Violet was SO good with his daughter, Harper, and the 3 of them seamlessly turned into the cutest little family. I love them so much and they just will literally melt your heart. Overall, this one had me laughing, smiling, and swooning. I loved it!!

🎧Audio:🎧
This was a dual narration by Connor Crais & Erin Mallon. Connor was literal perfection portraying the grumpy Charlie. I was seriously swooning multiple times. I've said it before and I'll say it again... that man can read me the encyclopedia and I'd listen to every word. Erin brought Violet's fiery, sassy personality to life in the best way and the two of them together was perfection.

Love You, Mean It is book 2 in the Blushing series, and let me tell you I was so happy to be back in the quirky little town of Blushing, Alaska. Also, Laura is absolutely delivering with this banter👏🏼

Charlie and Violet are the perfect example of “fighting as foreplay”. These two couldn’t get along and toss in the forced proximity and tension was off the charts. Charlie and Violets story was fun, flirty and heartfelt.

Violet is co-owner of a wedding planning business in their small town. She is sarcastic and guarded but so full of love. Charlie owns a construction business and is the dad of a pink loving little girl named Harper. He was so sweet with his daughter but a grumpy asshole to pretty much everyone else. I loved the dynamic between Violet and Charlie because they were kindred spirits, both with childhood trauma that still lingered, but worked through together. And don’t even get me started on the precious relationship between Harper and Violet… talk about emotional.

Both characters showed immense growth, but Charlie… 🥵that man was special. The way he showed up for his daughter and for Violet was beautiful. Even when Violet tried her best to self-sabotage he was having none of it. I love a man that’s determined and doesn’t waver. Charlie is that man.

I cannot wait to back in Blushing for book 3!!

The way I devoured this book! I read it in 24 hours could not put it down! From the first page she sucks you right into Blushing, Alaska. This small town romance had everything a romance should, found family, some of the best banter I’ve ever read, and characters who just feel so real.

This story follows Violet who moves into Charlie’s guest house temporarily while he renovates her home after it floods. He is a grumpy single dad to Harper. From the first book their dynamic is filled with tension, sarcasm, and the best banter! You can just feel their chemistry with every argument they have😂 Every time he called her “firefly” I melted. What pulled at my heart strings was the relationship Charlie had with his daughter. The bond they shared was amazing! The relationship Violet and Harper had was just adorable. The way she called her “her real mama” just wrecked me😭

This story is about healing, trust, and discovering that love can feel like home. I laughed and I cried. I loved it so much! 5⭐️ In my top 5 fav reads of the year!

“I’d insist on the hashtag ‘love you, mean it.’ It would have to be real. Because I’ve had a lifetime of not real.”

Romance books set in Alaska will always be a win in my mind and I loved being back in Blushing ! This time for Violet Beaumont’s happily ever after!

Violet is currently going through a remodel of her house and staying in her contractor’s guesthouse. Her contractor, Charles Huxley, who she does not particularly like but as she is around him more and seeing how he is with his daughter it is opening her eyes to who he really is outside of their bickering.

“Hashtag‘love you, mean it.’ You show it. You feel it. And you live it.”

Charlie is a perfect father to his daughter, Harper. He is determined to be everything she could possibly need. He will love her enough for two parents but maybe Violet could be what the both of them need. They were the most perfect trio and this was such a feel good story! For two people who had crumby childhoods, their happily ever after was just what they both needed!

“I want everything you’re willing to give me. Hashtag ‘love you, mean it.’”

🔥: “Look at you, Firefly. Prettiest girl I’ve ever seen.”

Opposites attract in book two of the Blushing series.

Violet's landlord (and also the guy renovating her house) is grumpy to the max. He's cute, but definitely her opposite. Doesn't help that as the renovations go on Violet changes her mind multiple times.

But what Charlie lacks in the sunshine department, he saves for his daughter, Harper. He's a single dad doing all of the. parenting, and man is he fantastic at it. Harper really has him wrapped around her finger. But she's a sweet little girl (as a teacher, I would totally want her in my classroom).

As Violet does sweet things for Harper, Charlie sees more than the woman making his job miserable. He sees that Violet has a real connection to Harper. That she sees herself in her and doesnt want the same upbringing she had.

Violet had it really tough growing up and she sees the situation and realizes how much she can give to Harper. Her dad on the other hand? Really hard to persuade. But I enjoyed the banter these two had. There were times I wanted to smack ole Charlie upside the head, because Violet was a perfect match. It just took him longer to figure out.

With a mismatch of a disappointing family and ride or die friends, its a nice ride. I loved Violet finding her self worth and realizing family can be who you make it with.

I hope this isnt the end of Blushing! Because I want to go back already!

Thank you Laura Pavlov & Valentine PR for an eARC of Love You, Mean It!

We’re back in Blushing, Alaska with this book & I never want to leave! The tension & banter between Violet & Charlie start in the first book (You, Me, & Forever) & I just knew we were going to have a good time in this one!

From their constant banter due to their close proximity (Violet is staying in Charlie’s guest house while her house is being renovated after being flooded), to sabotaging each other’s dates, to eventually giving into the tension between them & opening up to each other regarding their somewhat traumatic upbringings … this book really covers it all!

Harper, Charlie’s daughter, is an absolute sweetheart & I love how she added to their story. Between her & the friends that Violet & Charlie have, the close found/chosen family aspects were so perfectly shown! The author really knows how to write some hilarious scenes as well.. you just have to read the books to see how great they are! 😉

Harper was the real star here idc

this was just as cute and fun as the first book in the Blushing series! sometimes you just want a heartwarming single dad, small town romance to take the edge off lol. the real takeaway from this book for me was that it's worth it to find your chosen people/family and realize that you are loved and wanted for exactly who you are, not what others (even your own family) expect you to be.

the tension and forced proximity in here was chef's kiss, and i think the romance developed in a believable and entertaining way. this was pretty low stakes but touched on some topics i think lots of people could relate to. both main characters had issues from their pasts/childhoods that they had to work through both on their own and together in order to get to a place where they could trust in and love someone else.

i hope we get more stories from Blushing, Alaska and i definitely recommend this for when you want a pick-me-up, feel-good story without sacrificing substance.

the audio was free on kindle unlimited and the narrators did a fantastic job!

This series is one of my faves and I find myself waiting with bated breath for the next book! This town is full of so much charm and I love the way they all have each others back.

Violet and Charles (Charlie) are a match made in angst heaven! These two had serious chemistry but their banter…SOOOO GOOD! I love the strength that Charlie gives to Violet and how he and Harper become her safe place. The way Violet just find her place with this single dad and his sassy daughter had my heart full of joy!!

This story has cameos from the best animals in book story history! Also love getting crumbs on what’s to come next. A must read on any romance lovers list!

I love Laura's stories and this was the cutest single dad romance! The heroine's home floods, she has to stay in the guest house of the hero, who is helping fix up her house. They definitely banter a lot and both come from not the best pasts that prevent them from fully opening up to one another. The heroine is a wedding planner and doesn't know if she would ever actually believe in marriage herself, but of course learns she just hasn't met the right person. The way the title of the book was involved with her wedding planning was super cute as well. If you want a fun banter-filled small town single dad romance, you should grab this one!

“Firefly” + grey sweatpants = I’m feral. 🫠

Laura Pavlov gave us another small-town romance in Blushing, Alaska—this time with grumpy contractor, Charlie, and sweet wedding planner, Violet.

Their banter? Top tier. (“You play dirty, Charley Huxley.” “Maybe I like it dirty…” 👀)

✨Grumpy/Sunshine (my absolute fave!)
✨Single Dad
✨Enemies-to-lovers (2nd fave trope 😍)
✨Close proximity

I adored the wild little creatures that make this series so fun—Clifford the moose, a porcupine, and Chompers the groundhog stole my heart.

🎧The audio? Chef’s kiss.
Connor Crais nails the MMC energy every single time, and Erin Mallon brought Violet to life perfectly.

Big thanks to Laura Pavlov and Valentine PR for the ALC! 💗
