Going to the doctor will be different after you read this book!
If my mom were still here, I’d be sending her this for Mother’s Day. She belonged to a generation that followed medical advice without question. No one really asked how she felt.
This book flips that whole model. “The Coach Will See You Now” made me rethink how healing happens. It’s not just about having the “right” answers — it’s about asking better questions, slowing down, and actually listening.
I thought it would be clinical, but it’s anything but. Sandra Scheinbaum brings warmth, honesty, and a fresh take on how we show up in our health. One line that stuck with me: “The best health coaches don’t diagnose. They listen.” That hit home. I’ve had too many doctors brush off my instincts. This helped me realize my body’s wisdom matters.
This isn’t just for coaches. It’s for anyone navigating health — or wanting to help others do the same. After reading it, I show up to doctor visits differently. I ask better questions. I speak up sooner. I don’t wait to be told what to do — I’m part of the conversation now.
If you’re looking for something meaningful — whether it’s in your own wellness or your next career — this book might just open a door. It sure did for me.
While I think there is certainly a future for health coaches to help bridge the gap between their doctors and nurses, this author puts way too much hope in our current administration to make America healthy again. Many patients can benefit from health coaching partnered with lifestyle and diet changes so I chose to focus on that as I was reading through this book.
