“A heartfelt invitation to rediscover the magic of reading—gentle, inclusive, and inspiring.”

Sonali Bendre’s A Book of Books is a warm, visually engaging guide that celebrates reading for everyone—beginners, parents, and book lovers alike. Through personal anecdotes, curated recommendations, and vibrant layouts, she makes literature feel accessible and joyful. The book’s tone is conversational and encouraging, offering practical tips for building reading habits and letting go of the guilt of unfinished books.

Bendre’s honesty about her own struggles to read amidst motherhood and illness makes the book relatable. She normalizes the idea that it’s okay not to finish every book, a refreshing perspective in a culture that often equates reading with achievement. The book is especially helpful for those looking to start or restart their reading journey, with suggestions tailored for all ages and moods.

I recently met a young mother in Mumbai who, inspired by Bendre’s Instagram book club, started reading aloud to her toddler every night. She told me how this simple ritual not only helped her child but also rekindled her own love for stories—something she had lost in the daily grind. A Book of Books echoes this sentiment, reminding us that reading is for pleasure, not just performance.

By championing reading as a form of self-renewal, Bendre empowers everyone to carve out moments for their own intellectual and emotional growth—without guilt or apology.

This is a great read and needs to be in your TBR.

A Book of Books by Sonali Bendre Behl isn’t just a book it’s a warm, guiding hand for anyone wanting to step into the world of reading. It feels like Sonali is sitting beside you, gently nudging you to pick up a book and discover how stories can shape who you become.

She’s beautifully condensed multiple ways to build a reading habit and nurture your relationship with books. From tips on how to get started to highlighting the benefits of reading like becoming more creative, developing empathy, and expressing yourself better, this guidebook truly covers it all. I loved how she used classic storybooks and beloved characters as examples to pique curiosity. Some of the anecdotes she shared about these stories were completely new to me, and they added such a fun twist to the reading experience.

Sonali Behl makes it so easy for anyone to navigate the vast world of books. Her recommendations felt like a hug from childhood each time I saw a favourite character or book being mentioned, my heart did a little happy dance. It reminded me of how these very books shaped me into the book lover I am today.

While the reading exercises and recommendations might feel familiar to an avid reader, for someone just starting out, this book could be exactly what they need to begin their reading journey with confidence and joy.

And can we talk about how gorgeous this book is? The velvety texture of the hardcover, the glossy pictures, and those vibrant, colourful letterings and graphics are such a visual treat! I kept wanting to flip through just to see the next beautiful page. Honestly, A Book of Books would make the perfect gift for friends looking to start reading or even for younger friends to ignite their love for books early on.

Thank you so much to @bookreviewersclub , @harpercollinsin , and @iamsonalibendre for sending me this delightful review copy.

In a world constantly distracted by glowing screens and infinite scrolls, "A Book of Books" by Sonali Bendre Behl arrives like a long-lost friend, gently tapping your shoulder to say, “Remember when you used to lose yourself in pages?” This isn't merely a guide to reading, it’s a celebration of it, soaked in nostalgia, love, and an honest attempt to rekindle a fading habit. Written with the charm and warmth only a lifelong reader can offer, she invites us into her intimate world of books, not as an expert, but as a fellow traveler.

She explores why reading matters not just for intellectual stimulation, but for healing, connection, and emotional sustenance. Her reflections are intimate and resonant. She writes from a place of personal transformation, particularly shaped during her battle with cancer, when books became not just entertainment but survival tools. This makes the theme of reading as companionship one of the strongest emotional threads of the book.

The book tenderly outlines the emotional spectrum that books can walk us through grief, joy, loneliness, love and urges us to see them not as static objects but as living, breathing presences. Here, she truly succeeds. You feel her sincerity. You feel her journey.

The lists, though plentiful and vibrant, largely feature the usual suspects. Harry Potter is over-represented (mentioned multiple times), and Indian literature is reduced to the familiar names of Arundhati Roy and Ruskin Bond. The canon remains relatively unchallenged. There’s a heavy lean on Western literary classics, which is understandable given the author's personal taste but as a guide meant to open new doors, it misses the opportunity to spotlight regional, queer, Dalit, feminist, or non-mainstream Indian writers. That said, the breadth in genre, graphic novels, picture books, YA, non-fiction, is commendable. It’s a book that welcomes all kinds of readers, from toddlers to teens to tired adults.

Perhaps one of the most refreshing aspects of the book is how it romanticizes and reclaims the experience of reading. She doesn’t just talk about what to read, she talks about how to read by building rituals, creating cozy spaces, participating in book clubs, visiting libraries, writing logs, and journaling responses. Her idea that reading isn’t a goal but a lifestyle is powerful. The book prompts you to make reading less about finishing and more about feeling. The interactive activities, logs, reflections, lists, make the reader a co-creator. This isn't just a book you read, it's a book you use. That makes it uniquely tactile in an age of digital consumption.

The visual experience of this book is undeniably enchanting. Glossy pages, warm pastel tones, cute illustrations, and bite-sized content make it feel more like a coffee table companion than a dense guide. The design is not just aesthetic, it’s part of the reading experience, drawing you in like a pop-up fairytale. But there’s a double-edged sword here. For seasoned readers who crave intellectual depth and analytical rigor, the book might appear too “light.” While that’s not necessarily a flaw, since this is primarily for beginners, the book may not fully satisfy those looking for a nuanced conversation around literature and its role in society.

The author's tone is warm, approachable, and never condescending. It’s like a friend handing you your first book with a reassuring smile. There’s no literary jargon or complex critical frameworks, this is not an academic treatise, and it doesn’t try to be.

✍️ Strengths :

🔸Visually stunning and aesthetically designed which perfect as a gift or collectible
🔸Gentle, emotionally resonant invitation into the world of reading
🔸Interactive structure helps beginners actively participate
🔸Offers age-wise and mood-based reading lists across genres
🔸Promotes the tactile joy of physical books in the digital age
🔸Passionately written from lived experience, with a humanitarian, kind tone

✒️ Areas for improvement :

▪️Over-reliance on mainstream and Western titles
▪️Lacks critical literary discourse that remains surface-level in analysis
▪️Not enough representation of diverse Indian voices
▪️May not satisfy advanced or seasoned readers
▪️Slightly repetitive and over-romanticized in tone

In conclusion, it is exactly what it promises to be a celebration of stories, the self, and the sacredness of reading. It is personal, inviting, and gorgeously designed. It is also imperfect, sometimes too safe in its curation, too light in its discourse. But maybe that’s the point. This isn’t a critical companion to literature; it’s an emotional companion to "you", the reader.
It’s a book that wants to sit beside you as you re-fall in love with books not pressure you, not shame you for reading slowly, not give you a syllabus but remind you that stories matter, and so do you. For anyone lost in the hustle of modern life and looking for a soft return to slower, soul-filling pleasures, "A Book of Books" offers an open door and a warm armchair.

Me, who shares her birthday with the author Sonali Bendre Behl, has at least one more thing in common with her — a deep love for reading. But over time, like many others, I found myself drifting away from books. That’s why A Book of Books felt like something special. From the moment I saw its beautifully designed cover by Rohina Thapar, I was drawn in. The vibrant colours, the clever layouts, the elegant mix of text and illustration — it all comes together to create a book that doesn’t just talk about reading, it feels like reading. It’s a visual and emotional nudge for anyone trying to reconnect with the habit.

This isn’t just a guide or a journal. It’s a beautifully crafted celebration of books and the people who love them. With vibrant layouts, expressive illustrations, and thoughtfully curated recommendations, it becomes more than a book — it becomes a reading companion. Sonali gently guides you through why reading matters, what to read based on your mood or age, and how to make it a lasting habit. She speaks to beginners, re-starters, and even hesitant parents trying to pass on the magic to their kids. Each chapter ends with creative activities that don’t feel like chores, but like stepping stones back to your reader self.

For those of us who miss the feeling of getting lost in a story, A Book of Books is a gentle nudge — warm, accessible, and full of heart. It’s not for the literary elite or seasoned bibliophiles. It’s for everyday readers and dreamers who once found comfort in turning pages and want to feel that spark again. And with its glossy finish, inviting visuals, witty chapter names like “Fifty Shades of Books,” and a voice that feels like a conversation with a friend, this book doesn’t just tell you to read — it reminds you why you ever loved it in the first place. Even audiobooks are embraced here, making it clear that any way you engage with stories is valid and valuable.

𝐐𝐮𝐨𝐭𝐞:
"We all love a good story.
And stories live within books."

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐈 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬?
I’d honestly never come across a book entirely about books before—so the concept alone was enough to reel me in. And of course, Sonali Bendre Behl being the author was the cherry on top! Having grown up watching her movies, I knew I had to see what she had written for book lovers.

𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
This has to be one of the prettiest books I own. The cover is stunning, but what truly makes it stand out is that every page inside bursts with bright colours, great quality and aesthetic illustrations. The title couldn’t have been more apt.

𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
The narration is crisp and direct, with a fast-paced, conversational flow. The language is simple and accessible, which makes it a breeze to read.

𝐎𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧:
✓ When the title says A Book of Books, it truly means it—this is a love letter to books and reading.
✓ From why we should read, to a quick history of publishing, how to read more, and where to read—it’s all covered.
✓ There’s an entire section on recommendations of picture books and graphic novels, ranging from timeless classics like The Little Match Girl to iconic works like The Picture of Dorian Gray.
✓ I especially loved the bits about reading spaces—libraries, book clubs, book signings, book fairs—little slices of bookish heaven.
✓ The book’s short, engaging paragraphs, playful design, and interactive pages make it such an inviting read. If you already love books, this feels like a warm hug. And if you’re someone who hasn’t fallen in love with reading yet—this might just be the push you need.
✓ I really appreciate Sonali Bendre for this fresh, much-needed tribute to reading. It’s an absolute must-have for any reader’s shelf.

A book of books is a warm, thoughtfully written guide about the social and emotional impact of reading books. Curated with a bunch of recommendations for all age groups — whether you’re just a beginner starting out and don’t know what to read or a proficient reader curious to know about the origin of printing press and novels, this has it all.

What I loved about this one is that it’s not just a typical non fiction, preaching about the benefits of reading but an engaging guide to help you pause and reflect. It allows you to write about the books you’ve read — favorites and the ones you want to read along with a bunch of other fun and engaging tasks in between. It’s also very interactive, visually appealing, and feels like it speaks to you.

That said, I did have a problem with the book only mentioning the mainstream or popular books that we see on bookstagram with only a few other mentions but hardly anything from Indian Literature beyond Ruskin Bond and Arundhati Roy. While Harry Potter is mentioned repeatedly as beginner-friendly and something to get out of a reading slump, it would’ve been refreshing to also see Indian voices like Mahashweta Devi or Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. If you’re a beginner in reading, these recommendations are okay but not enough — in my opinion, we should introduce more Indian books to new readers and help them see Indian literature is beyond Arundhati Roy and Ruskin Bond (i love them both but let’s talk about diversity)

Despite this lack, I enjoyed reading this book and loved the beautiful illustrations and mid-section tasks and notes. I’d recommend this to readers who love interactive reading journals and want a visually immersive experience.

"Every time we read a book, we experience personal growth, expand our knowledge, and see cognitive development."

We are readers, we love to read books, but to the non-readers and also for us, books like this, A Book of Books can be a great reminder about why we read, why we love reading and why it is kind of a therapeutic session for us.

The first thing that will catch your eyes about the book is how colourful and attractive it is. Then when you start reading, every point that the author mentioned will make you nod and agree with it fully. Also we have to appreciate the author's creativity, how beautifully she uses some famous books referenced for her chapters, like - "13 Reasons Why Everyone Should Read", "Forty Rules of Loving Reading", "Fifty Shades of Books", "One Hundred Years of Reading". I mostly love the part where the author uses "Seven Dwarfs" from Snow White as reference to make the readers understand how they can approach the reading journey.

The best part about this book is that the author also gives ideas how anyone can make their reading journey memorable by doing some simple journal, providing how many different ways they can read and enjoy the process, the author also gives ideas how the differently-abled people can still enjoy reading. The author also provides us with book recommendations and some fun information around books and also some amazing quotes.

So overall, the book can be the best guide for the beginners who want to start reading but still feel skeptical, It can also be for the readers who are a little lost and want to find their enthusiasm again. The book is so well organised and well researched and beautifully penned down. I highly recommend it.

As someone who adores books about books, especially stories set in libraries, bookstores, or centered around the reading life, I went into this one with high hopes. But unfortunately, this book just didn’t land for me.

The premise is lovely: a well-known figure talking about her love for reading, advocating the importance of books, and encouraging others to read. And in that sense, this book serves its purpose. It’s accessible, beginner-friendly, and packed with pointers on why reading matters. For someone just beginning their reading journey or looking for a motivational nudge to read more, this could be a great starting point. There’s even a list of classics for younger and older readers, which could be helpful for someone who doesn’t know where to begin.

However, for an avid reader or someone immersed in the reading world, this book might feel a little too surface-level. I personally hoped for deeper reflections — maybe a peek into what books impacted Sonali the most, what she read while preparing for roles, or what titles she believes could be future classics. It would have been more engaging to read about her personal reading life rather than just broad, factual recommendations.

The writing, while clean, lacks emotional depth. It doesn’t quite feel like the author’s own intimate voice came through — at times, it reads more like curated content than a memoir or heartfelt reflection. I wish the book had been more raw, more reflective, and more personal.

Final Thoughts:
This is a great pick if you're new to reading or want something light and motivational to flip through. I truly wanted to love this one, and I did in small moments, but overall, it left me wishing for more depth, more connection, and more of the author’s true literary heart.

A Book of Books is more than a love letter to reading—it's a personal plea to return to the pleasure, the meaning, and the beauty of books in a digital age. This book is not simply one about books; it's a colorful, touchable thing that also serves as a journal, an instant treasure for every book lover.
.
From the very first page, you’re drawn into a rich, colourful layout that feels both intimate and inspiring ( special mention to designer Rohina Thapar). Bendre's voice is warm and genuine, guiding readers through the personal and collective history of reading. Whether you’re new to books or have been hoarding paperbacks for years, her gentle, inclusive tone never alienates—it encourages. There are so many reasons to start reading, fall in love with reading and even mentions of book clubs to join in!
.
The interactive pages are the ingenious highlight. The reader is here made into an active participant—jotting down thoughts, writing down favourites, making this book a personal one. Not every reading guide is a keepsake, but A Book of Books manages to do so with such ease.
.
What makes this book truly special is its blend of nostalgia and practicality. You’ll find reasons to read, curated recommendations across age groups, and reflections on how stories shape us. While the internet offers similar information, Bendre weaves it with warmth and personality, elevating the experience beyond facts into something soulful.
.
Ideal as a gift or kept on your own bookshelf, this book is both a celebration of literature and an invitation to slow down, take stock, and fall in love with reading all over again. A must-have for anyone who is enchanted by the power of words.

Sonali Bendre’s A Book of Books is a vibrant, heartfelt tribute to the world of reading, expertly straddling the line between a personal memoir and a practical guide. This isn’t just a list of must-reads—it’s a thoughtfully curated journey through the joys, challenges, and emotional resonance of books. Bendre writes with warmth and sincerity, weaving in her own anecdotes about how stories have shaped, comforted, and challenged her throughout various phases of life.

One of the book’s greatest strengths is its accessibility. The interactive design encourages readers—whether novices or seasoned bibliophiles—to pause, reflect, and engage with literature in an authentic way. Colorful layouts, charming illustrations, and gentle prompts invite you to track your reading, jot down favorites, and explore new genres without judgment or pressure. Especially notable is Bendre’s open, non-preachy approach: she acknowledges that it’s okay for a book not to resonate and encourages readers to follow their curiosity.

While the recommendations cover a wide range of genres and age groups, the focus tends to favor well-known Western titles, with limited exploration of the rich diversity within Indian literature. Expanding these horizons would enrich the guide for Indian readers seeking greater representation.

Nonetheless, A Book of Books is perfect for anyone looking to rekindle a love for reading or cultivate a lifelong literary habit, especially parents and young readers. Sonali Bendre’s heartfelt reflections and practical tips make this book feel like a comforting companion, inspiring readers to embrace stories with joy, openness, and curiosity.

If you’re searching for a heartfelt companion that rekindles your love for reading or gently nudges you (or your children) toward your next great book, Sonali Bendre’s "A Book of Books" is a delightful place to start. More than a mere list of recommendations, this book is a celebration of why we read, how stories shape us, and the joy that books can bring to our lives.

The book feels like a conversation with a wise friend, sharing personal stories, reflections, and a passion for literature. Sonali mixes memoir, advice, and recommendations in a non-preachy, encouraging way.
Recommendations span genres, age groups, and moods, from timeless classics to hidden gems. Sonali’s standards are clear—if a book doesn’t connect with you, it’s okay to leave it aside. This refreshing approach dissolves guilt and emphasizes joy in reading.
Whether you’re a lifelong bibliophile or a parent hoping to spark a love for books in your kids, the book’s colorful layouts, relatable examples, and inventive ideas (like exploring genres using Snow White's seven dwarves) make it accessible and inviting.
Sonali’s journey as both an avid reader and a parent weaves throughout, making her suggestions feel lived-in rather than dictated. She openly discusses her own reading challenges and how books helped her and her family navigate tough times.

A Book of Books is an inviting doorway back into the world of reading. Sonali’s sincerity, practical tips, and personal reflections inspire you to fall in love with books all over again, and to do so without guilt or pressure, but with joy and curiosity.

𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖: 𝐀 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐎𝐅 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊𝐒
𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐑: 𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐈 𝐁𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐑𝐄 𝐁𝐄𝐇𝐋

"𝐈 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞. 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐮𝐬."

𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐥 celebrated the vast section of 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 in her book 𝐀 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐎𝐅 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊𝐒, yes, it works as its name. It gives you a recommendation list with a heartfelt manifesto on why and how books matter for you, for me - for us.

"𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐠𝐞, 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫... 𝐈 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐠𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 𝐈 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐨𝐰𝐧."

While reading this particular book, I got the sense of 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠. But it is not just about theory, it's tried and tested. It helps to connect people, but this is more about readers. It's like a workbook that speaks with us. I love how every page turns out to be a scrapbook.

She offers us to share our stories with her. She enfolds her 𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞, 𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐦, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭 and 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡. It is genuinely encouraging at least it tells the truth about itself. I rediscovered the essence of reading. Not to mention tge warmth and gentleness that this book provides are generally great.

"𝐀 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲."

She shares the different moods like 𝐓𝐎 𝐊𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐀 𝐌𝐎𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐁𝐈𝐑𝐃 to 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐋𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐄. Each 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 is 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥. This is a book that reminds you of the power stories hold in shaping who we are. Anyone who is drifted away and want to reconnect to their old soul, this book is for them.

Every reader has his own reason for reading. Be it to learn something new or cope with real-life issues or sometimes it's simply for the entertainment. People love books for different reasons and 'A Book of Books' is one book that celebrates this joy of reading that books brings to us.

The book explores the Whys, the Whats and the Hows of reading. From the reasons why everyone should start reading to the different ways of making reading a lifelong habit; from creating a reading space to joining reading communities. The chapter exploring the history of books over the years and across cultures, was the most interesting one and the section encouraging the reading habit among kids was informative.

What I really loved about the book were the book recommendations. From the top ten children's books, picture books and adult books, this book has something for every new reader with varied reading interests. The best part about the book is the way it welcomes even non-readers. It not only encourages you to read but document and enhance your experience as a reader, by sharing your love for books, by creating your stories and most importantly by enjoying reading.

Overall, 'A Book of Books' is a perfect read just for readers but non readers as well. The book will not only remind you the reason why you love books but also help aspiring readers discover the joy of reading.

📚✨ Now tell me—how do you choose your next read?
Do you go by the cover, the blurb, a friend's nudge, or your reader's gut feeling?
Whether you're a beginner or a voracious reader, I’d love to know!

“Warning: Reading Sonali’s book will seriously expand your TBR list—with absolute stunners!”

📚 "The Book of Books" by Sonali Bendre Behl is a treasure trove for readers! ✨📖 Sonali not only shares books, but also the tales behind them.
The book isn't just a reading list; it's a heartfelt, feisty, and intelligent bookish memoir with a reader's heart and a curator's eye.

My favorite quote from the book: "Books were my escape, strength, and therapy." Reading kept me sane when everything else around me was chaos."
(same, Sonali. SAME. 🙌)

Author not only recommends books but also explains why they are important, how she discovered them, and how they spurred discussions.

I remember reading my favourite📌which is pick from her list too: “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee
Sonali writes about it with nostalgic awe, noting how it remains timeless, teaching compassion and courage without ever sounding preachy.
“Some books grow up with you,” she says—and Mockingbird is exactly that kind of friend. 🐦
… I totally agree with the thought.
Infact the book can change your perspective at every stage of your life.

Some books grow up with you,” she says—and Mockingbird is exactly that kind of friend.

So go for it!

A book that clearly shows, why reading should be a regular part of our lives. It explains how reading can have a strong and positive effect on both our personal and professional growth. Reading helps us think more clearly, communicate better, and understand others more deeply. In a professional setting, it can improve decision making and problem-solving skills. Personally, it can help us build patience, focus, and emotional intelligence. What stands out in the book is that it doesn’t just tell us to read more it explains why we should and how reading can shape our mindset over time. The author makes a strong case for reading as a long term investment in ourselves, not just a way to pass time.

The book also shares useful tips for developing a stronger interest in reading. It recognizes that in today’s fast paced world, it can be hard to sit down with a book, especially when we’re always distracted by screens and social media. To help with this, the author suggests simple and practical ways to stay motivated such as joining a book club, following reading groups on Reddit, or setting small reading goals. These strategies help make reading more enjoyable and social. One of the best parts of the book is the list of reading recommendations it provides, which can be especially helpful for those who don’t know where to start. Overall, this book is both encouraging and practical, showing that anyone can become a reader with the right approach.

A Book of Books is an ode to everything books: books, bookstores, libraries and the readers too. It talks about everything there is about books.

It talks about the why, the what and the how. Why read, why it's important to be a reader, why start young. What to read, with recommendations for children, young adults and adults, across genres and for varied reading interests. How to love and treasure books and become a reader for life.

The book has sections like forty rules of loving reading, 13 reasons why everyone should read, fifty shades of books, one hundred years of reading, book enchanted, the library at the end of this book. All Heart-Warming and beautifully illustrated, they are a delight to read.

More than for reading, it's a collectible item. A gorgeous book with glazed paper and beautiful illustrations, it looks good in hand.

Since childhood, I’ve been reading. The school library was where it all began, aisles of stories waiting to be discovered. And guiding me through them was our librarian sir, who somehow always knew what I was ready for. He never handed me just any book; he matched them to my mood, my age, my understanding. The Book of Books reminded me of him, it felt like that same gentle nudge toward the right story at the right time.

The book goes beyond mere recommendations—it’s a heartfelt guide to building a lasting relationship with reading. Through personal anecdotes, curated titles across genres and age groups, and warm reflections, the author invites readers to explore why we read, not just what to read. Thoughtfully designed journaling pages follow each section, encouraging readers to pause, reflect, and make the journey their own.

The book is an absolute visual treat, with charming illustrations that make every page a pleasure to turn. Woven through the chapters are gentle reflections and insightful titbits about reading, not as a chore, but as a deeply personal experience. And what truly elevates it are the curated recommendations at the end, thoughtful, inclusive, and spanning genres, moods, and age groups, making sure there’s something for every kind of reader. An absolute fun guide to add to your collection !

A Book of Books by Sonali Bendre Behl is not a book for avid readers. Based on the content, the book seems to be solely targeted at individuals who are looking to develop a reading habit and are stuck at taking the first step.

The book acts as a guide as well as an activity book to keep a track of your reading, building your vocabulary, writing your own story and more. It is split up into 8 different chapters covering themes of why you should read, how to choose the right book for yourself, joining reading groups and communities around you and how to get into the flow of reading.

The author has also included various book recommendations for different age groups. From picture books for children to reading for young adults. Each chapter gets you closer to developing the habit and sticking to it. The activities towards the end of each chapter make the book more engaging. The illustrations and designs going with each chapter deliver the right message and complement the written word.

The hardcover book, printed on glossy paper makes it look more like a magazine, which is slightly disappointing. Yet, it makes for a good collectible to have on your shelf and something to refer to if you want to recommend reading activities to your non-reader friends.

A Book of Books is basically about how reading can quietly become something special in your life—like a comforting habit that makes you feel good and brings a little peace to your day.

This book felt so warm and real. It’s not like a normal book you just read and forget. This one makes you think about why you started reading in the first place. Sonali Bendre talks about how books have always been a part of her life, and the way she writes feels very natural—like she’s just sharing what’s in her heart.

She gives 13 simple reasons why reading matters, and honestly, each one made sense. I liked how she included book suggestions for kids, teens, and adults—it wasn’t overwhelming at all. Everything was easy to follow.

There’s also a section where you can write your own thoughts, which made it feel more personal. The colours, the design, and even the small details made it fun to flip through. It’s a book that doesn’t just tell you to read—it makes you want to.

If you’re someone who’s trying to get back into reading or even just looking for something light and meaningful, this book is worth picking up. It left me smiling and reminded me how comforting books can be. Simple, sweet, and full of heart.

This book felt like a celebration of reading and a wonderful guide for non-readers to develop a love for books.
“A Book Of Books” by Sonali Bendre is designed for every reader and non-reader out there giving us a breakdown of how to get someone to start the habit of reading and for a reader to rethink how their love for reading started and reminisce about it, their first book, favorite genres and so much more.

Reading this book made me feel warm and encouraged as it delves into the experience of reading and the deep connection one can form with the books. The images, illustrations, and colourful layouts of the books are top-notch. Adding blank spaces in the middle with some questions like favorite read, how your reading journey started, favorite genres, etc made me self-reflect.
